It's been one year since Sidonia colonized lem and continues its mission to find other habitable planets to colonize. Along the way izana struggles with her feelings with yuhata as they have fights and rarely seeing each other since yuhata had become the captain and one night they have the biggest fight ever. Izana-Your late again yuhata. Yuhata-I'm sorry izana the meeting for the new guard was longer than expected. Izana-That's the same excuse you keep giving meeting that and new technology with that. When will you have time for me? Yuhata-Im trying izana but it's tough being captain and I have responsibilities. Let's just have a nice dinner together. Izana tears up angrily then say's no thanks I'm not hungry. I need to go get some sleep anyways. I'm teaching the new recruits tomorrow for the upcoming advance mining mission on the ice asteroid. Yuhata says alright then izana heads for her room and slams it making yuhata jump. Izana tosses and turns franticly then says in her head was it the right choice to pick yuhata? By the next day yuhata heads off to her captain's post while izana heads off to the academy to teach. As she enters the room, she sees new faces and a few old ones then says alright class has begun everyone please be seated.
The cadets say yes mam and they all go to their seats along with hamagata and hoshina then as they take notes hoshina says you alright izana you seem distracted. Izana-I'm fine just dealing with some stuff at home. Now then in the final battle with the gauna cluster what was the name of the weapon that was used to defeat it? Rin- The graviton radiation emitter. Izana-That's correct rin. It was that very weapon that killed the gauna cluster and allowed Sidonia to colonize lem. Raku-How were you able to fire it? Izana-To power the graviton radiation emitter Sidonia warships had deployed several energy collectors because the weapon required a massive amount of energy to fire but to send the energy, we deployed a network of satellites to transmit it. Kun-Who deployed the transmitters? Izana-It was nagate tanikaze sidonia's ace pilot. Raku-Amazing hey didn't he settle down on lem with tsumugi. Izana-He did. He married tsumugi and they had a daughter together named nodoka. Raku-That's nice. Izana replies yeah then turns away saddened as she sees a picture of nagate then says that's it for today's lesson you all may go now. The cadets and pilots all say ok then after they leave izana walks around thinking to herself and when she gets to a park, she sees a statue of nagate to honor his victory in the fight against the gauna then izana says I wonder what life would have been like if I were with you nagate or if you ever noticed me before we got to the lem star system. She thinks about that for a while then she heads off home and after getting in, she calls out yuhata name then when she gets to the fridge, she sees a note saying working overnight again I'm sorry izana.
All be home as soon as I can love yuhata. Izana gets depressed from reading the note then after throwing it away she grabs something to eat then heads off to her room. Elsewhere Kunato, hoshina, hamagata and Toutarou are out at a diner talking among themselves then hoshina says do you think izana is doing ok. Kunato-I don't know you think something is going on between her and yuhata? Hoshina-Maybe when we left lem they were head over heels for each other and know it seems they're drifting part. Kunato-Seems like the captain's position is getting tougher for yuhata. Eiko-I just hope she knows she is not alone. Doesn't she have a sub commander. Hamagata-No she's still having trouble finding a suitable candidate for the position. Hoshina-I don't blame her it's a big responsibility. Hamagata -You got that right. Rin-Hey Kunato. Kunato looks to his right to see three honaka's approach him and says Is there something I can help you with. Rin-It's just we were wondering are you going be on our trainer for our mining mission tomorrow. Kunato-I wish young one, but your trainer is going to be izana shinatose. Raku-Izana shinatose the one who helped identify the gauna cluster core in the lem star system. Kunato-The one and only. Rin-Amazing I can't wait.
Hamagata-All be there too if you need guidance too. Sen-Thank you hamagata. Hamagata smiles at her making hoshina jealous then an alarm goes off and they all look at their wrist coms to see they are under attack. They quickly rush to the locker room to change into their suits then they get to the guards. After launching Kunato says all guards tighten formation don't let a single one get by. The pilots say roger then just as they get into visual range Kunato says what the…Sidonia you are seeing this. Yuhata-We are. Izana, I want scans on those new gauna units. Izana clenches up then angrily says understood and when she scans them, she says what the…those gauna units they have some sort of metallic alloy under them. Yuhata-An alloy how's that possible? Hinata-Could they have evolved somehow to create something like that. Izana-I'm not shore but their energy signatures are off the charts. Hamagata-Maybe they absorbed some kind of ship and that's how they were able to create it. Yuhata-Maybe but for now we need to take them out all guard units open fire. Kunato-Understood command. All units watch your trajectory, and each take a gauna unit. The pilots say understood then they take aim and fire but to their surprise it deflects right off the. Hamagata-What the? The bullets just deflected right off it. How's that possible? Eiko-It must be that new alloy. Looks like it's strong enough to deflect our kabi round. Hoshina-What do we do? Izana-I just did a scan of them the only place that's not armored is under them that's their weakest spot. I'm sending the data now. Kunato-Understood izana receiving data now. The pilots get the data then they begin targeting the gauna units and taking them out one by one until one gets by making Kunato say one got by the defense line then izana says I'm on it. Izana follows the gauna and is about to attack when she sees it go around Sidonia. Izana-What the? Command you seeing this? Crew-We are the gauna units completely ignored Sidonia. Yuhata-Why would it do that aren't the gauna attracted to the kabi and heigus particles on sidonia. Izana-They are but…the energy signature Yuhata-What about it? Izana-The signature isn't resembling heigus particles its resembling ah new energy signature that's never been recorded before. Yuhata-Interesting…scan everything you can on it then destroy it. Izana-Understood mam. Izana gets her scans of the gauna then destroys it quickly before it can get away. As they dock Toutarou says as he gets out if the gauna have created a new type of armor then this is going to be a problem. Kunato-Exactly we need to come up with a better strategy to face these new gauna. Toutarou-Lets go speak to the captain. Kunato-Right. They both get back into their uniform and head up to the captain's room but when they arrive, they hear yelling coming from it. They look quietly to see yuhata and izana fighting then izana says I'm going back to my grandma's old home.
Yuhata-What why? Izana-Because I can't deal with this kind of pressure and need to think. Yuhata-Dos that mean it's over between use? Izana-I never said I just need some space to myself and think things over. Yuhata-I understand. All give you space but remember I'm always here for you. Izana replies wouldn't that be the first then she leaves passing by Kunato and toutarou with angry tears in her eyes then Eiko says let's talk to her tomorrow. Kunato-Agreed looks like yuhata could use some space. They quickly tip toe out before yuhata could see them by the doorway and as for yuhata she looks out window gazing with sad tears then says im going to make it up to you izana I promise. Meanwhile with izana she had moved back into her grandma's old home since she now lives on lem. As she sits by a window to look at the city lights, she thinks to herself then she looks at a picture of nagate with tsumugi and nodoka on his arm. She smiles then looks down sad and holds on to herself.
By the next day Sidonia arrives near the asteroid to begin mining it and izana, hamagata, Kunato and mozuku launch with the recruits to deploy the new mining equipment. Izana-So Kunato what kind of mining equipment we deploying? Kunato- Their a new type of explosive tip impounders. When we deploy them, we have to make shore their locked down if we don't the explosive tip can re bounce and send our guards flying. Hamagata-Dam sounds a bit dangerous. Kunato-Yeah but it should make mining ice steroids easier in the future. Hamagata-Gotcha so basically were the first to use a new type of technology without it being tested. Kunato-Well I wouldn't say that. Shijimi had ran simulation with the new tech and said it should be fine. Izana replies great just what we need then she flies on down toward the surface of the asteroid. Mozuku-Is she ok? Hamagata-I think so but I'm not going to ask. She seemed stressed enough. Mozuku-yeah. The teams disperse and the four begin training the new cadets with the mining equipment and as they teach them izana struggles with her team. Izana-Be careful, jate, remember this is new equipment. Jate-Sorry mam I'm still learning to maneuver my guard. Izana-Just watch your movement. Eiko-Understood mam. As they continue the other teams manage to lock down their impounders but for izana as one of the honaka's plants her impounder the device explodes making the whole ground beneath collapse and it sends the honoka flying. Izana flies over asking are you alright and raku replies I'm ok. Izana-What happened raku you were told to lock it down before igniting the charge. Raku-But I didn't even lock it down yet or press the button for the charge. Izana-Looks like the new tech is faulty and still needs to be tested…command this is izana. Yuhata-Go ahead. Izana-Were aborting the mining the operation the new equipment still needs to be tested. Yuhata-Understood all unit's abort and return to Sidonia to switch out equipment. Kunato-Understood all unit's head on back to Sidonia.
The pilots say understood then as they begin to head off Kunato looks down to see izana unit still on the asteroid and as he flies next to her, he asks are you alright izana? Izana-I'm not really shore. Sometimes I wonder if there's more to life than just piloting and teaching like settling down to have a family. Kunato-Have you thought about having one with yuhata? Izana-I did but things haven't been good between us so were taking a break from each other. Kunato-I'm sorry about that…Come on, let's head on back. Izana replies right and begins to take off but just before she leaves, she hears static on her radio making her say did you catch that. Kunato-Catch what? Izana-On the radio I got static …coming from the asteroid. Kunato-Maybe it's the minerals in the ice that's causing your radio to static. Izana says maybe then she flies back down towards the hole that was created from the mining incident and as she lands, she can't see anything because of the mist that was created from the explosion. Then as she looks Kunato comes down saying you think somethings down here. Izana-Possibly…I'm picking up the signature again. As they go forward, they continue to search but still don't see anything until izana starts to hear a voice on the radio saying mayday. Izana-What the I'm receiving a mayday call.
Kunato-Ah mayday from where I don't see anything it's too foggy. As they look the ground beneath begins to crumble and they quickly fly up before it can swallow them then Kunato says well whatever was there is gone know. Nothing could have survived that collapse. Come on izana lets head back. Izana replies right and as they begin to leave izana hears metal clanking then when she turns around, she sees metal debris. Izana-Kunato look at this. Kunato-What the metal debris? As they steer clear of the debris, they then begin to see something floating upward and when they get closer, they see it's a ship. Kunato-No way you were right there is something there. Izana-Yeah, but I never thought it be a ship. As they get closer izana then hears over the radio mayday, mayday, mayday this is UNSC ffg-201 forward unto dawn requesting immediate evac survivors aboard. Kunato-UNSC what's that supposed to mean? Izana-Not shore. Hamagata-Hey guys what's the hold up? Kunato-We found a ship buried in the ice. Hamagata replies you what then as he flies back with mozuku he sees the ship and says what the? The hell kind of ship is that? Mozuku-It looks like it's a military vessel. Yuhata-Mining team Why haven't you returned yet? Kunato-Command you're not going to believe this we found a ship in the ice. Yuhata-You what? Crew get me eyes on the asteroid. Crew-Understood mam. The crew begin scanning the asteroid and when they get a visual yuhata says what the? The hell kind of ship is that? Crew-It appears to be a military vessel with unknown technology. Yuhata-Interesting. Izana-Were going aboard command. Yuhata-What why? We don't know what's on board that ship. Izana-Theres a survivor on board yuhata. We have to help them. Hamagata-How do you know there's a survivor? Izana-Theres a mayday call coming from it. Switch your radio to channel 7.8. Hamagata does what she says and when he switches over, he hears the mayday call then replies well all be. We need to go help whoever is on board. Mozuku- He's right let's look for a way on board. Yuhata-Wait until we can send backup. Izana replies there's no time then mozuku says over here we can get through the hanger here. The four then fly into the hanger and after they land, they begin to float until hamagata says wow guys check out all these military vehicles. Kunato-Their pretty impressive wow is that a tank.
Izana-Guys focus we need to find the survivor. Hamagata-But where do we even start this ship is massive. Izana-Then will split up each of us take a part of the ship. Kunato, you take the bridge, mozuku the engine room, hamagata you try to find the navigation room maybe see how this ship got here. Hamagata-What about you izana? Izana- All check the crew quarters maybe the survivor could be in one of them. Kunato-Alright just be careful. Izana replies I will then floats off as do the others to find any survivors. The group searches up and down the vessel only to find nothing then as hamagata get to an area says you guys got to check this out. Kunato-what did you find? Hamagata-It's a weapons room unlike anything I've ever seen. And wow get a load of this. Mozuku-What did you find? Hamagata-Looks like some sort of laser weapon…hng dam this thing is heavy I can barely lift it up. Izana-Guys stay on task have you found anybody. Kunato-Nothing yet. Mozuku-Same here it's like this whole ship was abandoned. Kunato-They wouldn't abandon it for no reason. Mozuku-Are you at the navigation console hamagata? Hamagata-I think so. The console I found sort of resembles it I'm going to try and see ah son of ah.
Kunato-What happened hamagata? Hamagata-Dam thing shocked me before I could even touch it. I don't think we should touch anymore consoles until we can examine the ship more. Kunato-Agreed I just arrived got the bridge and the consoles did the same thing. Izana, you find anything? Izana floats to a large room with pods and says I think so I found a room full of strange pods. Hamagata-Pods? You mean like a creepy alien pods or something. Izana-No nothing like that. From the looks of it I think they're cryo pods. Kunato-Cryo pods Sidonia doesn't even have that kind of technology. Izana replies yeah then when she gets to the last pod, she sees someone in it and says guys get to my location. Kunato-What is it izana? Izana-I found the survivor in one of the cryo pods every get to my location now. Hamagata-Were on our way izana. As izana walks up to it she wipes away the fog on the pod to see the person wearing a white and black armor suit with a helmet on and has the numbers 704 carved on the chest piece with iz painted on an arm armor piece making her wonder until the lights come on in the room and as she goes to a screen on the other side of the room the pod with the armored figure opens up.
