Chapter 46: Train your Usako

After what could be described a very gut-wrenching development in which Chibiusa suddenly appeared, being amnesiac and lacking most of her reliable tools, I decided that the first impression demanded some 'correction'.
And by that I meant that my future niece needed training. Like, real training involving putting that body through the jogging and the exercising. After pretty much ignoring that weird interaction where my sister and our little cousin became inseparable as it clashed with any expectations I had about these two meeting, I got a list ready and a new quest to validate my current efforts.

It all sounded lovely, the prerequisites are all feasible to achieve, the rewards were massive even though it didn't give me any EXP, but... I was quick to realize that five star difficulty was nothing to scoff at. Especially when the quest gave me a new screen to work with.

My God, she was actually weaker than I was at Level 1. No, actually, her HP were twice than what I used to have, while her SP had been halved. The attributes starting at one and chance of improving that being slimmer than how it worked for me made the process far more tedious than needed.
Didn't help that I was trying to coerce a shy brat to get fit and study more, especially when I knew Usako was prone to run away from anything she found worthy of being annoyed or afraid of. So, deciding to test out how to pace this situation, I allowed the new day to happen after spending the previous night getting Usako enrolled at the same school I was at.
I had to guide her around a lot since Usako never went to school, had little to no clue on how that worked, and she was utterly shy in trying to reach out for friends. After a very grueling day of school, I coerced her to play at the park with Momo and Mika.
With Lilim absent for a month, someone had to fill up the vacuum and my cute niece would do. No one complained about this, but thinking of Lilim made me realize the Miasma could have been taken care of with Lilim's help, especially since the cause was similar to what Tomoe had but it was less difficult to remove without damaging Usako in the process.
A shame my malus-remover was out getting mauled by royal paperwork.
Nonetheless, I had little Usako sweat up, do all the exercises she needed to burn the carbs, and then had her drink a lot so she didn't pass out trying to be a little pink golden retriever while playing ball. Hours and hours of pure and utter tiring a child as eager as Usako proved to be detrimental to my own sanity, for the girl had boundless energy. Thank God I had a sister and she quickly snatched the pinkette off of me since she needed to bathe and Usagi took the duty off my palms. Thank - fucking - God.
As the two were sharing the tub, I got to study the end result of that draining day and...

Well, fuck me this is going to be tougher than I had expected it to be. I could, in theory, min-max this. Like I did with my own schedule, but I doubt that Usako would be willing to go through that sort of stuff. And it didn't help that the girl was terribly reluctant to play until others nagged at her. She loved to play, this much anyone could tell, but she was terribly bad in social situation. If I found a way to motivate her to train hard, then that would be a smoother process.
...
And maybe, I had a trick to do that. After all, kids of all sort liked one thing: superheroes. And who was I? That sort of guy!
So, after dinnertime, I made sure that Usako was 'okay' in having a sleepover with me and...
"We can go fly, Shin-niisan?"
"More like swinging around," I corrected, manifesting my Moon Knight suit. "But you have to promise me that you will behave and that you're not going to tell anyone since Usa-nee and my parents don't know about that, got it?"
She nodded, eyes glowing in excitement as she was soon screaming in delight at 'flying' over the city. I had resolved to drop her by to Minako and explain the situation to her before going on a quick patrol. If I could get her to befriend Tomoe as they did in canon, then maybe I could justify her training as her protecting Tomoe from people that could hurt her. It was easier for someone with her personality to train and fight to protect others rather than herself. It also build up her attitude as a hero, so that was another good reason to get her to cozy up with Tomoe.
Minako was a bit surprised to learn that Usagi could, in fact, produce such an adorable child. But she was caught off-guard by who was the father due to the peculiar hair color Usako had. I mean, who could blame anyone from finding blonde plus black equals pink a bit puzzling? Nonetheless, considering how polite Usako was, she allowed her to stay over for a while as I got to work. A few robberies later, I was on my way back, and I stumbled on quite the scene.
"Mwahahaha~! I am going to beat you, little bunny, and I will claim your princess!"
"Never, you scary Mina-monster!" A pinkette emerged with a sword made out of cardboard, with Artemis staring at the scene with glee and amusement, a look mirrored by Tomoe as she was the princess in this situation. Very ironic considering the roles were reversed in real life. But... Minako actually worked her magic for Usako looked a little bit more loose in the interaction and quite serious-sounding in that playful scenario.
Yes, there was strong potential despite the insane nerf going on for her and. All I needed to do now was getting us both at home, allowing that spark to grow stronger, and let it lead her into becoming a stronger Sailor Chibi Moon.
Of course, Sailor Moon having her time to shine through these situations too.
Clan politics were never a fun business for the one and only Hattori Seishu.
Sitting on a nice pillow and drinking warm tea, she was trying her hardest to hide her displeasure at what had just landed on her lap, for it was another sign that her stupid son had indeed failed to conclude anything of note after becoming the head of Gosha Village itself.
And he even had the nerve to call her a warhawk for saying that these uppity clans were begging for a beating. Of course that fool failed to realize they were coaxing up to him and forcing him to shed away slices of what made the Igawa Clan great. It was the same that had happened with the damn Fuuma.
They had gotten too comfy with their coalitions, allowing lesser sleazier clans to climb on them and dictate corruption and anarchy within the village. As much as it pained Seishu to admit, change was inevitable but it was meant to be a 'growing up' process rather than devolve Gosha into something too forgiving for the scum. And today, this had made her react accordingly as she saw a most infuriating request, this time with her son requesting to be made heir to the Hattori Clan.
Up to that request, it had been a secret of hers that the Hattori Clan hadn't outright given that right to the children born through her and her husband, with Seishu purposely withholding that piece of information as she knew neither of her children was ready for it.
Senshu knew, but that was because Seishu had told her daughter on why she couldn't be the inheritor of the clan: she lacked the affinity to master the Art of the Stars. And with that in mind, most of the village was excluded. Even her son and leader of the village. In recent times, that had changed, however.
Someone had come along, became her apprentice, and showed a degree of feats more than enough to win her trust, her support, and, most important of it all, her desire to see him inherit the Spirit of Hattori. Tsukino Shingo was no Taimanin, for he lacked the blood to be one, but he was someone that had the skills and potential to not only use the Art but master it in ways not even their founding ancestor could manage.
He could be stubborn, but he was pragmatic and malleable. He also had a good head on his shoulders, he knew of his flaws and tried to work to fix them. Indeed, a child but still someone that Seishu was willing to gamble her life for. It made her feel soft, and yet also deserverdly so for Shingo was a boy that felt like the grandson she was owed by her children. A boy with potential, a good mind and strong will.
A shame he wasn't an orphan, for Seishu would have adopted him on the spot and made him inherit her position the moment he was hold enough to do so. Yes, Seishu was also aware some laws forced for her to choose someone that was tied to her by blood and someone with Taima particles in their bodies but...
Unique times demand unique decisions. And hers was as foolish and bold as one would expect from an old woman unwilling to allow her legacy to be fumbled by her children and grandchildren.
She knew what she was writing was quite treasonous at best, but she refused to allow the Hattori scrolls to be stolen by those greedy bastards licking at her son's boots. It was high time that, perhaps, the legacy of the Hattori Style was given wings to fly away from its home. Gosha was no longer welcoming of her glorious past, her ancestors' legacy diminishing with each generation, with Seishu representing the last guard of a dying bloodline.
With a strong heart and a firm grip, she penned her response to this diktat, making sure her demands were met upfront and for Shingo to know that this was the favor he owed her for his trip to the Dark World.
He would be ready for the challenge, she knew this much, and she intended to make sure the boy, at the very least, had the 'Hattori' name firmly etched upon his own bloodline now and forevermore.
Even if it meant giving her own son a reality check on who was the current head of the Hattori Clan through her own apprentice.

Everything is lining up for trouble. Who is left out in this situation? A certain black cat.
