Cell vs Talespinner69
"I officially have my own chapter with my name in the title," Tale remarked. "I'm not sure how to process that."
"What?" Cell questioned as he looked at the Realmcrafter, the two still on the Isle of Armor, and in the Fields of Honor by the shore, because calling it a beach wouldn't really be saying much. The island isn't really too big.
"Nothing," Tale replied as he crossed his arms. "Anywho, let's begin your training by first having you catch some Pokémon."
"Why would I need to do that?" Cell asked. "I got Juan and Wigglytuff, and Wigglytuff went up against Shallot!"
"Yeah, Shallot," Tale said. "But that was a street fight. That kind of thing won't exactly slide in the Pokémon League… Although, this is the DAU, so I could be quite wrong about that."
Cell sighed. "Fine. How many should I catch?"
"At least four so you have a full party," Tale answered. "You have Juan and Wigglytuff, so that's a good start… mostly." Tale then pulled out a bag. "Here, take this. This bag shall single handedly store all of your valuables whilst you're a Pokémon Trainer."
Cell took the bag and looked at it. "But this thing is tiny!"
Almost as if on cue, a hiker popped his head out of the bag. "Actually, it's quite spacious in here," the hiker said, prompting Cell to drop the bag out of shock, before the hiker climbed out of the backpack and walked away.
"What the hell was that?!" Cell exclaimed as he pointed at the bag and looked at Tale.
Tale, also a bit confused, merely looked at the bag. "I… couldn't tell you for the life of me. But that's one way to say the bags of Pokémon Trainers are quite spacious and can store thousands of items at once." As Cell looked into the bag, Tale added, "I also gave you a fair amount of Pokéballs to use in there as well, so rummage through it and get familiar with everything."
"Right, right…" Cell said, before pulling out a Pokéball that was mainly white. "The hell is this?"
"That is a Premier Ball," Tale answered. "I got a lot of those for free for buying multiples of ten whenever I bought Pokéballs for you. So, keep in mind that you get 11 Pokéballs whenever you buy ten of them."
"I'm not going to remember a single thing you just said," Cell stated.
Tale gave a deadpan expression, unamused. "Of course you wouldn't."
"Anywho!" Cell began as he looked around. "I have the perfect idea for a Pokémon!"
"And that is…?" Tale began as he looked at Cell.
"A Gardevoir," Cell answered with a smug smile and certain undertones best left up for interpretation.
Tale shook his head. "Outside of your obvious reasons for wanting one, Gardevoir is a good Pokémon. However, they're aren't exactly found here on the Isle of Arm-"
"Hey, there's one right now!" Cell proclaimed as he pointed behind Tale. The Realmcrafter then turned around and saw a Gardevoir standing on the beach of the Field of Honor, looking out at sea for whatever reason.
"That raises a lot of questions," Tale stated as he pulled out a Pokédex. "They aren't even found in this area on the Isle of Armor, though Ralts can be if it's misty… So why in Odin's beard is there a Gardevoir here?!"
"I'mma catch it!" Cell said as he chucked a Premier Ball at it, hitting it in the head.
"You can't just chuck Pokéballs at a Pokémon and expect to catch it," Tale told Cell. "You have to weaken it in a Pokémon Battle."
"I don't need to do that," Cell said as the Gardevoir broke out of the Premier Ball. "All I need to do is chuck more balls at it!"
Tale shook his head. "At least stop using the Premier Balls, they have the-"
"Too late!" Cell shouted as he tossed another Premier Ball, this time a whistle being heard at it hit the Gardevoir in the head once more, before shaking in the air for a moment and falling to the ground.
Tale's blinked as he looked at the Pokéball on the ground. "You lucky son of a gun."
Cell looked at Tale. "What are you-?" Cell was cut off by the Premier Ball simply making a clicking sound, indicating he caught the Gardevoir. "Wait, I thought it had to shake three times!"
"That was a critical capture! It tends to guarantee capture," Tale explained. "It usually only shakes one, and is rare. The fact it occurred whilst you have only 3 Pokémon registered in your Pokédex baffles me."
"I have a Pokédex?" Cell asked, surprised.
"...just pick up the Pokéball already…"
Cell picked up the Premier Ball housing his newly caught Gardevoir with a smile. "Well, I'm quite proud of this catch."
"And likely for all the wrong reasons," Tale commented. "Well, time to check its moves." Tale pulled out his Pokédex and scanned the Premier Ball housing the Gardevoir within it. "Let's see… Psychic, Calm Mind, Heal Pulse, and Dream Eater."
"Okay, how good is that?" Cell asked Tale curiously.
"Well, Psychic is stab since Gardevoir is a Psychic-Type," Tale began. "And Calm Mind raises Gardevoir's Special Attack and Special Defense stats…"
Cell nodded, but noticed Tale didn't mention anything about the last two. "But…"
"Heal Pulse only works against a target Pokémon," Tale explained. "Meaning Gardevoir wouldn't benefit from having Heal Pulse unless you fought in Double Battles, which is highly unlikely. Additionally, Dream Eater only works if the opposing Pokémon is asleep, though it would heal Gardevoir for half the HP inflicted."
Tale looked at other notable attributes for the Gardevoir caught by Cell. "Let's see… Jolly nature, which isn't that good since it harms Gardevoir's Special Attack and most of Gardevoir's attacks are Special Attacks. Synchronize is a decent ability since this will in turn burn, poison, or paralyze any Pokémon that burn, poison, or paralyze Gardevoir if they are not immune to those status conditions." Tale let out a small hum. "And gender is… oh?" Tale then slowly began laughing.
Cell raised an eyebrow. "Why are you laughing? What's funny? Tale, what the hell is funny?!"
Tale smirked at Cell. "Gardevoir is male!"
Cell's eyes widened in shock. "NO WAY!" Cell then took the Pokédex from Tale's hand and indeed saw the male gender icon. "GODDAMNIT!"
Tale chuckled a bit. "Now you can get your mind out of the gutter. Anyways-"
"Time for Plan B!" Cell declared. "I need to find me a Lopunny!"
Tale's jaw dropped. "You… You can't be serious about this," Tale said. "You are not going to be adamant about finding a Pokémon for the sake of-"
"It's my Pokémon, Tale," Cell said, cutting the Realmcrafter off mid sentence, "I can do whatever I want with it when I catch it."
Tale let out a resigned sigh. "Of course that meme is on your mind, and I dislike you for that," Tale stated.
"Well, where can I find one on this island?" Cell asked Tale, dead set in his ways. Tale, not being paid enough to deal with this, pulled out his Pokédex and scrolled through until he found where Lopunny's could appear on the Isle of Armor.
"The Soothing Wetlands," Tale answered. "It's actually not too far from the Master Dojo owned by Mustard." Tale gestured for Cell to follow him. "Follow me."
After a minute or so of walking, they arrived in the Soothing Wetlands on the Isle of Armor. There were a couple puddles, patches of grass, some trees, and then some berry trees as well.
Not that those would be relevant.
Cell looked at Tale. "Alright, how do we find the Lopunny?"
"We?" Tale questioned as he looked at Cell. "Making a lot of assumptions here about me holding your hand for this."
"What?" Cell asked.
Tale then pulled out a plastic lawn chair and sat down on it. "You're the one wanting to catch a Lopunny. Since you want to be extremely horrible with your reasons for doing so, you can go out, find it, and catch it yourself." Tale then pulled out a Pokéball and let out a Shiny Eevee he caught, before proceeding to groom his Eevee with a brush.
Cell rolled his eyes. "FINE!" Cell then took a few steps and immediately saw a Lopunny. "Oh shit, a Lopunny!"
"That fast?" Tale questioned, surprised. Even his Eevee looked surprised.
"Alright! Go Pokéball!" Cell shouted as he tossed a Pokéball at Lopunny. The Lopunny went into the ball, and shook once, before immediately breaking out. Cell's eyes widened as he looked at the Lopunny. "...Tale, what do I do now?!"
"Get out one of your Pokémon to do battle!" Tale said.
"You're right!" Cell said. "Go, Wigglytuff!"
"WIGGLYTUFF!" The Wigglytuff shouted as he came out of his Pokéball.
"Alright, Wigglytuff, use… uh…" Cell paused as he didn't actually know any of Wigglytuff's attacks. "Shit, what attacks does Wigglytuff have?!"
"YOU DON'T KNOW?!" Tale shouted. Whilst they were distracted, the Lopunny suddenly jumped into the air and slammed its knee straight into Wigglytuff. As Lopunny jumped back, Wigglytuff fell on his side, unconscious.
"WIGGLYTUFF, NOOOOOOOOO!" Cell shouted. "HOW DID THE LOPUNNY ONE SHOT WIGGLYTUFF?!"
"Isn't Wigglytuff, like, level 3?" Tale asked, making Cell look over at Tale, who was indeed correct.
"Fuck," Cell stated before returning Wigglytuff to his Pokéball. "Alright, Juan! Kick its ass!"
"PIKACHU!" Juan Carlos Santiago Dominguez Hernandez de la Santa Cruz shouted as he emerged from his Pokéball.
"Juan! Attack with your Latino Thunder!" Cell shouted.
"You mean Discharge?" Juan asked.
"Uh, yeah, that!" Cell replied.
Juan nodded. "Very well." Juan then proceeded to discharge electricity around him, which did hit the Lopunny, slightly angering it. Before they knew it, Lopunny had jumped high into the air as it prepared its next move.
"Why is it going so high into the air?!" Cell questioned.
"It probably knows Bounce," Tale answered. "It's a two turn move that also has an 85% accuracy."
"Juan, try to counter with your Latino Thunder once more!" Cell shouted at the Pikachu Libre.
"It will not work, senior, but I shall do as you say," Juan replied, before using Discharge once more. Once he had stopped, the Lopunny came falling down from the sky, and ended up hitting Juan.
"SHIT!" Cell exclaimed. "Juan, are you okay?!"
"It is a minor bruise," Juan replied as he kept his eyes trained on the Lopunny that was his opponent. "If I may recommend my signature move-" Juan was then cut off by the Lopunny speaking to him. As Cell and Tale observed this interaction, Juan eventually started swaying back and forth.
"What's wrong with Juan?" Cell asked Tale, worried.
"He's confused!" Tale shouted.
"Juan! Use your signature move against the Lopunny and snap out of your confusion!" Cell shouted.
"Pi-Pikachu!" Juan exclaimed before jumping into the air and somehow glided into the Lopunny, dealing what looked to be super effective damage.
"Flying Press," Tale remarked. "Neat." Turning to look at the panicking Cell, the Realmcrafter said, "Yo, you should probably throw a Pokéball at Lopunny now that it has been weakened."
"You're right!" Cell said, before rummaging through his bag quickly. "UH… GET IN THE BALL!" Cell chucked a normal Pokéball at the Lopunny and hit it smack in the face. After entering the Pokéball, it shook three times before finally the Lopunny was caught. "I DID IT!"
"Good job," Tale said with a hum as he stood up, placing his Shiny Eevee on the ground.
"I'm awake!" Juan shouted suddenly as he snapped out of confusion. "Where is the Lopunny?"
"Cell caught it," Tale answered as he pulled out his Pokédex. "Anyways, let's check out the moves."
"Perfect," Cell said with a smirk. "I'm confident that this is the one."
Tale gave Cell a deadpan look. "...right." Tale then checked Lopunny's data and let out a small hum as he looked over its stats. "Let's see… Flatter, Bounce, Healing Wish, and High Jump Kick. Bounce and High Jump Kick make sense, we saw it use those moves earlier, and Flatter also makes sense as Juan was confused just a moment prior." Tale looked over at Cell. "You're lucky it didn't use Healing Wish, or it would've knocked itself out and rendered itself unable to be caught… according to game logic at least."
Cell's eyes widened. "...wow, I dodged a bullet there."
"Now dodge Dragon's bullets," Tale remarked with a smug grin.
"Oh ha ha," Cell grumbled as he crossed his arms.
"It has Cute Charm for its ability," Tale continued, talking about Lopunny again, "which can inflict Attract onto Pokémon of the opposite gender if they touch it. Hmm… Lonely nature that raises its Attack but lowers Defense… Not too bad." Tale looked over the gender once more, before smirking and letting out a chuckle. "Ah, and it's also a male."
"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" Cell shouted, baffled. "GODDAMNIT!"
Tale looked at Cell for a moment, contemplating something. Tale chose to keep silent as to not give Cell the bright idea of finding another Gardevoir or Lopunny to catch that actually were female in gender. After all, Pokémon are still animals, no matter if they are humanoid or anthropomorphic.
And so, Cell's training begins under the tutelage of Tale, and catches a couple of Pokémon for all the WRONG reasons. With that being said, the next chapter in this sub arc will see a change of scenery and a much different catch being made.
Also, I'm taking one out of Tale's book and putting the basic info of both of their parties so everyone can keep track of who has what, though Tale's will be revealed when his Pokémon show up in a chapter.
In the meantime, I shall see everyone later!
