Leroy felt his heart sinking as nothing could've prepared him for this moment. For Mary Mew's sake, he should've thought of what to do if the father of Lizzie's eggs showed up and came back. Then, with his blood running cold, Leroy looked up to Lizzie's shocked expression and wondered what he was going to do if the black Charizard was willing to get back together with her former mate and throw away everything they had started. The Meowth wanted to believe that would be for the best, for both parents to reunite and love each other for the sake of the eggs he was sitting beside. He didn't expect it to be in his place to stay with her, no matter how many sweet words she told him in the name of friendship.
But the Meowth looked at the Nidorino, and his purple eyes blazing with deep threat towards Lizzie and the life they created, Leroy couldn't find it in himself to believe this was a stable father figure. Lizzie flashed open her wings instinctually, not even having half the conflict that Leroy expected her to have as she swung her flaming tail and roared several octaves louder than her former mate. Leroy felt his heart breaking for her a little, it couldn't be easy choosing to fight someone that she used to love so much, but the eggs were more important. As he stood over the eggs protectively, glaring at the Nidorino, the purple Pokémon threw his head back and laughed.
"That little pussy can't even come down here and fight me himself?" The Nidorino laughed as he stomped his foot much lighter this time, nearly at the point of tears with the laughter escaping from his mouth as he looked directly at Leroy. "And for a second, I thought you were a Pokémon capable of giving her eggs. So you're some pathetic beta cuck that won't fight me, and you're raising someone else's eggs! You're a joke!"
"Venomous, knock it off!" Lizzie snarled, but for Leroy it was starting to become too little too late. This Venomous was completely shattering who he was in front of the Pokémon he wanted to be his Queen, and Leroy felt his heart pounding with anger and his vision blurring. He had no problem with being much smaller and weaker than Lizzie herself, but to appear like he was an absolute waste of help was out of line. He already felt worthless from watching Lizzie fight a legendary by herself, or nearly lose her life from a Blastoise twice now. Even if he couldn't win, Leroy knew he could get lucky and leave a nasty scar or two. He stood away from the eggs, knowing that Lizzie wouldn't ditch them, as he felt passion and mindless fury work in tandem with each other. Lizzie was the love of his life in his heart, no matter what, even if she went on to have twelve mates after this. She didn't belong to anybody, and Leroy needed to prove this monster wrong and protect Lizzie's eggs. Snarling, Leroy jumped off the nest and fell from the tree. Landing on all fours perfectly and face-to-face with Venomous, he watched as the Nidorino looked up at his former mate.
"Last chance, Elizabeth~" Venomous insisted. "We can talk everything out and you can throw this loser away, you can forgive me for leaving you and I can forgive you for trying to replace me. It's a fair deal isn't it?"
"My name is Lizzie now," Lizzie spat, and Venomous' smirk disappeared. Leroy knew that he only had that moment as the big poison type was processing Lizzie's words, his lucky strike would have to happen now. Leroy rushed forward, the ground blurring underneath him as he tried his best to be light on his paws. All too late did he realize with each adrenaline-filled step the angry cat made towards Venomous, the Nidorino's horn lit up a bright purple more and more by the millisecond. Until it was a beacon of bright purple light with a horrendous smell and a horrible stinging sensation filled Leroy's eyes. As he hesitated at the last moment, practically in Venomous' face, the Nidorino turned to face Leroy and stabbed him in the chest. Leroy screamed, feeling his eyes water and his open mouth be filled with poison that stung his insides, before being tossed and rolled away by the impact of the touch.
"Ha! Never fought a poison type before?" Venomous scoffed as Leroy struggled to get up, his adrenaline keeping him from giving up altogether. Leroy wheezed, the initial pain subsiding as he got up with a sore chest. And then, all of a sudden after several seconds of getting up, Leroy gasped as his body lit up with the pain of before. The sudden renewal of pain nearly knocked him back on the ground, and he felt a deep raging pain inside his body, one that was starting to take over as if it was…
"Poison~" Venomous sneered, just as Leroy saw his fur turn a hue of purple for the briefest moment. He couldn't have had a worse start to the fight, but Lizzie's lack of interference brought warmth to his infected chest. That meant that she was allowing him to prove himself as her King, and Leroy felt his blurry vision stare up and focus on the nest where she was staring down at them with her tail around her eggs. His vision focused again as Venomous rampaged towards him, and Leroy rolled off to the side to dodge the attack, though the Nidorino was insanely fast as he swerved and moved towards the Meowth. Stopping like a predator toying with its prey, Venomous stared at the panting Meowth with a glint in his eye.
"Bet you can't guess my ability either!" Venomous snickered. "Let's just say my attacks are going to hit you harder than if Elizabeth fought me~!"
Leroy didn't care to indulge in the battle lesson from his mocking rival, and knew that he couldn't dodge attacks from him forever. Standing up and pulling off the coin on his head, another one appearing on his head as he threw the first one at Venomous' head, Leroy hissed as he kept throwing respawned coins off his forehead and at the Nidorino. Leroy's best move from a distance, Pay Day, did wonders in frustrating and aggravating the focus of his opponent. In the brief moment that Venomous had his eyes closed from the pain, Leroy lunged forward and sank his teeth into the Nidorino's ear. Venomous snarled in pain, shaking his head wildly until Leroy fell to the dirt again. The Meowth got up, but Venomous was quicker as he rushed towards Leroy and turned his back to him. Venomous kicked his hindlegs back, the first one connecting with Leroy's face just as the Meowth felt another surge of poison rush through him. The pain was twice worse than the poison, and Leroy realized he was being met with his one weakness just as the second kick hit him right in the stomach. The pain was so explosive, so great, that it transcended anything he could feel as he blacked out for several moments.
Leroy felt himself on the cusp of fainting, getting closer with each second as the poison was rushing throughout his whole body. But he refused to give up, focusing his blurry vision on Venomous as best he could. But the Nidorino wasn't even moving, staring intently with bright eyes at Leroy as if he had already won. Perhaps he did, it wasn't as if Leroy could get up anyways. Leroy glared at Venomous, slowly standing up despite the burning trying to keep him down.
"I don't care, my love goes beyond any possible compatibility with her," Leroy was shocked that the words even came out of his mouth, and he couldn't bring himself to look up and see her reaction. Leroy might've just completely blown it, and Lizzie would make her mind up and get back together with her former mate. But at least he would've told her the truth, made it known how he felt. Venomous howled with laughter, the sound ringing harshly in Leroy's ears as he saw black spots in his vision.
"That is got to be a joke!" Venomous bellowed. "Do you think that you're the one or something like that?! Even I'm not that delusional, the only reason I left her is because of what she told me! She's had more mates than there are species in Kanto! And get this, she's left pretty much all of them! She's even moved from region to region to get away from some, or probably more than just get away. Let's be real, Elizabeth here probably got bored and wanted to try new exotic flavors…"
"...what?" Leroy felt his vision clearing, suddenly feeling a crash of shock bring him back to life as he looked up at Lizzie. The black Charizard looked down at Venomous, horrified with her jaw dropped, as she opened her wings and was ready to swoop in. Leroy picked up on the sudden movement, realizing that he was finally getting resolution for some of the lies he was told. He looked back at Venomous as he heard Lizzie jump off the nest. He only had five seconds if that. "Tell me more, please."
"She's a player who uses guys before ditching them!" Venomous shouted the last part as he ducked and rolled from Lizzie trying to grab him and lift him in the air, moving back and frantically avoiding the Charizard's Flamethrower scorching the ground and nearly hitting the nearby trees. He ran around Leroy.
"If all that's true, why even come back to her?" Leroy asked.
"Because!" Venomous panted as Lizzie rushed towards him, trying to grab him or get a good hit at his face with her tail. But the Nidorino avoided both as he ran backwards while keeping an eye on his former mate. "She's better than any Nidorina, that's for sure! I would've liked to keep that going for a while longer, at least while our young we-"
"ENOUGH!" Lizzie thundered, her wings flashed out furiously from her sides. Leroy saw the blazing red fury in her eyes, telling the truth of just who she was. The admiration and adoration came to a skidding halt as he saw her absolutely furious at her former mate, not for hurting Leroy, but for telling the Meowth the truth. Leroy took several steps back, feeling cold and numb as Lizzie flew towards Venomous with blue claws of fury as she swung at him. Swung at the mate she once had, and Leroy didn't know what to think. He was shaking, horrified, at how brutal she could be to someone she loved so dearly. Venomous shrieked a much higher pitch than his normal voice, with Leroy almost feeling bad for him, as the Nidorino turned tail and fled into the trees out of sight.
Lizzie swung at the air in confusion for a bit before she stopped and stood with her back turned to Leroy as she panted. Leroy watched as she slowly turned to him, her wary gaze turning into a wide-eyed one. Her clamped jaw and paralyzed form screamed of guilt, and Lizzie didn't even allow a word in for Leroy as she flew up and grabbed all three of her eggs. Holding them firmly in her arms, Lizzie rocketed out of the nest and out of sight as a gentle smoke trail was the only indicator of her presence, leaving Leroy all by himself.
Leroy didn't know what to think, when the poison surged through him one last time as he completely blacked out and fainted.
