Reviews:

Dragon-bait-2001: I'm glad someone likes it at least. I'm trying not to do just 'Harry's in the MCU, everything is the exact same as normal though' thing that a lot of people, myself included have done in the past.

Nai Darkor: Hopefully not worse, I do have a plan for Harry with Shield. I want to do something different from the whole instantly joining shield thing.

Neotono: She'll be coming, but not for a while. I'd say roughly between chapters 58-65, though it could be before or after that.

Fire turtle: I saw the comment, and it's not going to be an exact copy of Ultimate Spiderman, but there is some inspiration from there. As for the big man, I'm not giving out spoilers, but I will say good guess.

ulttoanova: I do definitely have plans for him to meet the X-men, just haven't decided which one I should go with. I can kind of see this Harry being good friends with them or just hating them totally.

A.N: Sorry, this chapter is a bit short but the next few are longer.

If anyone wants to read those chapters early then please feel free to support me on my pat-reon, if not then don't worry. The chapters will be released for free on this site either way.

Chapter 53 -

"Shit! Shit! Shiiit!" A man screamed as he ran through the dark alley, nearly tripping over his own feet. He raised the revolver in his hand and fired widely behind him, hoping to hit his target. He didn't hear any signs of success and frankly didn't want to risk stopping. He was not the smartest person in the world, but even he knew that stopping to fight mysterious figures in the dark was not a good idea.

Spotting a fire escape ladder, he felt some small amount of hope. He quickly climbed up a nearby bin like his life depended on it, turning around he saw his chaser and quickly fired once more. He cursed when he missed and saw the monster dive into a nearby shadow, disappearing from view. Not wasting a moment, he quickly leapt to the ladder and climbed like his life depended on it. It wasn't easy, especially since he had already spent the last five minutes running, but he forced himself up, gasping for breath every other rung.

He finally reached the top, falling onto his back once he climbed over. He took in several deep breaths, forced himself up to his feet and moved forward, only to freeze in place when he spotted the very person that had been chasing him. Standing, not even two meters away, was a man dressed from head to toe in dark red armour mixed with patches of black, he had a red billy club in each hand, two horns on the top of his red helmet and an amused smile.

"Need a moment?" The Devil of Hell's Kitchen asked, stepping forward and putting his billy clubs away into the side holster at his leg.

"Get back!" The man yelled, stepping back and firing. At this distance, there was no way he could miss, and he definitely wouldn't have missed, if he had any bullets left, he hadn't even noticed that the gun was now empty. He barely had a moment to curse his stupidity internally before he found himself disarmed and on his back with Daredevil wrapping a hand around his neck.

"You hurt a lot of people," Daredevil said, calmly and coldly. He opened his mouth to say more, only to stop and tilt his head. An evil-looking smirk appeared on his face as he grabbed the man and pulled him to his feet.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" The man gasped, fear radiating from him. "I'm sorry, please don't hurt me! Please! Have mercy!"

"Mercy? I'm sorry, I'm all out of mercy." He hissed before throwing the man over the edge of the building, the criminal screamed loud enough to wake the dead as he fell down to the ground. Daredevil began a mental countdown, getting to five when Spiderman landed on the edge of the roof, dumping the frightened criminal on the floor.

"Really?" Spiderman asked in an amused voice as the criminal shakily started standing up, Spiderman casually knocked out the man with a dope slap to the back of his head.

"What?" Daredevil asked innocently. "I knew you'd catch him,"

"I don't doubt that," Spiderman snorted. "Anyway, it's good to see you again, D, how have things been going?"

"It's not quite hell here, I'm doing my best to keep it that way," Daredevil replied. "You?" He asked.

"Surviving," Spiderman shrugged. "By the way, we're best friends right?" He asked suddenly.

"Excuse me?" Daredevil asked, tilting his head.

"I've got a team watching everything through my eye lenses," Spiderman began explaining. "They're not fully convinced that we are best buds, but you and I know better, right?" He asked brightly.

"I don't..." He trailed off, not entirely sure how to respond.

"If you don't say anything then I'm going to take that as a 'yes'," Spiderman said before immediately continuing. "Anyway, bestie, I've got something that I'm working on and I would like to humbly request your help if you're free. What do you say?"

"Hmm," Daredevil hummed thoughtfully. "I was working on shutting down a couple of gun runners when I got distracted by the asshole there,"

"Assholes are pretty distracting," Spiderman nodded agreeably.

"If you're okay with helping me wrap it up quickly then I should be able to make time to help you out," Daredevil continued. "What do you say?"

"Anything for my best bud!"

"If I say we're friends then will you stop calling me that?"

"No!" He said cheerily.

"Sir," Agent Coulson said as he walked into Director Fury's office where he found the director sitting behind a chair, going over some files while his deputy, Agent Hill stood nearby. Agent Hill, a pretty woman with brown hair, was dressed in the classic Shield full-body, blue uniform, complete with the Shield badge on her shoulder and let's not forget her holster with her trusty gun. "You wished to see me?" Coulson asked politely.

"I brought you both here to discuss Project 'Unity'," Fury said, gesturing Coulson to come closer. The man did so, closing the door behind him. "I'd like both of your perspectives on the matter. Hill?"

"Sir," Maria let out a deep sigh. "You've known from the start that I've had my reservations about the whole thing, and so far I can see that I was justified. Project 'Unity' is frankly considered a joke at this point. I don't deny that there is potential there, but so far it seems to be going down the drain."

"Hmm, Coulson?" Fury asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I'm afraid that I must agree with Madam Hill, as much as I wish otherwise," Coulson said, sounding apologetic. "Like you, Sir, I saw great potential here, but at the moment there is barely any progress at all. Individually, they've each improved in leaps and bounds, but they are leaving much to be desired as a team." He explained.

"Fuck," Fury let out a deep sigh. "Shield has put a lot of valuable time and resources into this,"

"Against my suggestion to not do so," Hill pointed out lightly, earning a light glare from Fury.

"We need this to work," Fury insisted, running a hand over his face.

"Do we?" Hill asked, looking a hair's breadth away from rolling her eyes. "I mean no offence, Sir, but don't you think it's about time we cut our losses and start putting our focus elsewhere? There is more to Shield than just one experiment gone wrong,"

"We don't get adequate results from an unfinished experiment," He replied.

"An experiment that will go on for as long as you wish it to," She pointed out.

"If I may?" Coulson asked, interrupting the two. "I have a suggestion," He said, gaining both of their suggestion. "It is my belief that the main problem with 'Project Unity' is due to a rather simple reason."

"And what reason is that?" Fury asked, sounding slightly curious.

"Leadership, Sir," Coulson answered.

"But they have leadership," Hill pointed out, sending him a questioning look. "They work for Shield, there is a working system of command here."

"Yes, but not within themselves, they'll obey if you or Director Fury give an order, but they've not yet established a team leader," Coulson explained. "Past attempts to establish a leader have not resulted in any positive results,"

"So, you are saying all we need to choose a leader for them?" Hill asked him, sounding slightly doubtful.

"No," Coulson coughed. "I don't believe that that is all we need to do to resolve all the problems, but I do believe that it's a nice start. Director?" Coulson asked.

"It's possible." He said slowly. "However, as you said, attempts to establish a leader have not gone well. There is no one on the team that I'm comfortable with making a leader."

"So, what now?" Hill asked. "If you're not going to disband the team then perhaps assign a Shield Agent,"

"It won't work, they'll be treated as a handler or mentor," Coulson frowned.

"Perhaps, a new member will do?" Fury said, reaching into his desk and pulling out a file, placing it down on the desk and opening it.

"The Spider?" Maria Hill questioned with disbelief. "You wish to recruit him into 'Project Unity'?"

"He has plenty of street-level experience," Coulson said as he stared down at a picture of Spiderman descending down on a trio of bank robbers.

"Taking down a couple of thugs does not mean that he's qualified to work with arguably the most important organisation in the world, but then again, neither is the rest of the team," Hill replied with a frown. "Though, I will admit that he can probably handle himself better than most of the team."

"The kid single-handedly took down the Vulture, Mysterio and our most recent reports show that he's done battle with a man that is basically living electricity," Fury responded. "So far, we've confirmed him to possess multiple, superhuman abilities. Enhanced speed and strength, the ability to stick to walls, not to mention those webs of his. I don't doubt that if he joined then he'd be a valuable member."

"But still, you want to make him team leader?" Hill questioned.

"No, I am merely considering it," Fury responded.

"You do want him to join though, yes?" Coulson asked.

"I am considering it," Fury repeated himself. "We're still looking into him. Creating a psychological profile, establishing behavioural patterns and so on. But I dare say that he's making a pretty big impression. Not just on me, but several other people."

"Меня зовут Человек-паук, я юридически сумасшедший. Приготовьтесь к смерти." Spiderman intoned calmly whilst hanging upside down from a web, staring at the upside-down Russian gangster that he had webbed to the underside of a flagpole on the side of a really tall building.

"Oh dear god!" The man cried out in an accented voice.

"I'm truly sorry. I learned that bit of Russian from Google Translate," Spiderman said apologetically. "Did I botch it?" The man screamed. "I'll take that as a yes,"

"L...let me down!" The man cried.

"You want down?" Spiderman asked, facing his head towards the streets below, filled with what looked like dozens of cars racing around.

"No, no! Just...just please don't kill me," The man begged in a shaky voice. "Don't...aaargh! Don't...don't eat me! Don't eat me! I'm too skinny! And...and really dry!"

"Nothing a little ketchup won't fix," Spiderman assured him. "So, if you want to remain alive with your head attached to your body then I recommend talking. Your boss is apparently in with the 'Big Man', I'd like to know where he is?"

"The...the Big Man? Or...or my boss?"

"Yes,"

"They...they'll kill me," The man gasped, he steeled himself and made his face as firm as possible as he sent a glare to Spiderman. "You might as well kill me then, they'll just do the same," He said, trying to sound as brave as possible.

"If killing you is not scary enough then I must go onto plan 'B'," Spiderman said, giving the thug his deepest and most disappointed sigh, a sigh that even Dumbledore would be proud of.

"W...what's plan 'B'?" The man couldn't help but ask. A shriek escaped from him when four red spider legs popped out of Spiderman's back and pointed their tips right at him.

"I'm glad you asked," Spiderman said in a rather cheerful voice. "Plan 'B' is actually quite simple, you see the thing I am going to do is sink my enormous fangs into your body. The venom I inject will then slowly but surely paralyse you and introduce you to a rather financially crippling medical bill and equally expensive reliance on pain killers...and Viagra...and occasionally chocolate-coated strawberry fudge. One in ten cases also experience runny noses, so I'd watch out for that. After that, assuming you survive, I'm going to have several spiders plant their eggs into your body. Obviously you won't be using it anymore, will you? After that, they're going to start eating you, bit by bit. Starting at the softest parts of your body and working from there. So...are you ready to talk?"

"I...I don't know where the Big Man is, but...but my Boss is meeting...he has a meeting tonight."

"With the Big Man?" Spiderman asked.

"Nyet! No, one of his men," He quickly blabbed. "He's Big Man's big man,"

"You mean he's strong? Does he have powers?" Spiderman questioned, retracting his legs.

"No, not 'big'. He is big! Important, high ranked! Direct access to to the Big Man,"

"You've been most helpful," Spiderman told him in an appreciative voice. "I'mma let you live," He decided suddenly.

"Yes! Yes! Thank you!" The Russian said quickly. "Thank you! This... means you'll get me down...safely?"

"Nah," Spiderman said as he swung off the web and shot out another. "The police will be here soon, have fun!" He said as he swung away.
