Chapter 5: The Team Unites

Centuries ago in Japan, Nighlok monsters invaded our world, but Samurai Warriors defeated them with power symbols passed down from parent to child. Today the evil Nighlok have risen once again and plan to flood the earth. Luckily, a new generation of heroes stand in their way. They are the Power Rangers Samurai.

~July 2, Shiba House~

Yoni woke up early again the next morning. The rays of the morning sun shone through the window into her face. She blinked a few times before opening them. She stretched her arms above her head, while she was still lying on her back in bed. She then slowly sat up. She stretched again before throwing off her blankets. She left her bed. She walked into the attached bathroom. Once she was in there, she closed the door. She then stood in front of the sink, glancing in the mirror.

In the mirror, Yoni saw that her reflection had a rather large band-aid, which went from her chin to halfway down her jawbone. She had gotten this the day before, when the Nighlok named Scorpionic made the city unsafe. She had also sustained several injuries to her hands, knees, forearms, and lower legs.

Seeing the band-aid like the other injuries in the mirror, Yoni couldn't help but think about how Harry, their adoptive family – the Kuso family – and their new adoptive brother – Chazz Princeton – would have reacted. Her adoptive parents – Shinjiro and Miyoko Kuso – would have made a fuss over her. Her adoptive mother would have cared for her injuries with lots of love and care.

Oh yeah, you better believe it! Together with Harry, Yoni had been adopted by the Kuso family at a young age. They already had a son named Dan Kuso. And she had adopted Chazz into the Kuso and Potter families. Normally, both she and Harry were supposed to be with their adoptive family in Wardington. Only, a certain wizard was convinced that it wasn't legal. Which was in the Muggle world. Because of him, Harry was now back with the Dursleys after all these years and she was here with the Power Rangers Samurai. She had nothing against them. She thought they were a wonderful group. Even though she had only just met them.

Whenever she even thought about the name Dumbledore, Yoni could see her expression darken in the mirror. She was staring at her reflection with such anger and intensity her eyes suddenly turned golden.

The mirror started to shake dangerously. It almost cracked as her magic reacted to her anger. It trembled so hard under the pressure of her magic, that it finally cracked with a loud crack.

Upon hearing that loud crack, Yoni's concentration on her anger broke. She closed her eyes for a moment. She sighed deeply. She slightly shook her head to shake off the anger. When she opened her eyes again, she noticed the crack in the mirror. She saw that it was a huge crack, running diagonally across the mirror from the top left corner to the bottom right corner.

"Oops." She said softly, after seeing the damage to the mirror. "I really need to do something to have more control over my magic when my emotions run high again."

"Oops, you can say. Look at that crack. How are you going to hide that?" A voice suddenly said from behind her.

Yoni was startled. She turned around and saw who just had spoken. A creature was floating behind her.

The creature was dark gray. It was about four inches tall. It had a small body with a large head. It had a white patch around its eyes and mouth, and its belly. It had amber-gold eyes, four whiskers, two of which were on its head, and two wolf fangs. It had wolf-like ears with white tips and a thick flexible tail with a white tip. Its forearms and legs were white.

"Fellan? How long have you been floating there?" Yoni asked, frowning.

"I woke up when I felt your emotions rising through our bond." The creature – Fellan – said calmly. "You know that we Kwamis form a bond with the true Holders of our Miraculous. Through this bond, we can sense how they feel and whether or not they are in danger. I also completely agree with you that you need to do something to regain more control over your magic. Especially when your emotions are running high again.

Yoni smiled and said: "Thanks, Fellan. I'm glad you're here. What would I do without you?"

"Probably nothing. You were most likely curled up in depression." The wolf Kwami suggested thoughtfully.

Yoni rolled her eyes, smiling at that suggestion.

"Okay, depression is a bit far-fetched now." Fellan admitted honestly. "If you didn't have me, you couldn't become Lupa, an ally of Ladybug and Cat Noir. If it weren't for you, my Miraculous might have never awakened. I may not have had as many Holders as Tikki and Plagg, but you are one of the best Holders I've ever had."

Yoni smiled and said: "Thank you, Fellan. You're also the best partner in fighting evil and friend I could ever have."

She turned back towards the mirror. She reached her hand out for it. She touched the crack with her fingertips. She closed her eyes. She let her magic flow to her fingertips, repairing the crack. When she opened her eyes again, she saw that the crack was intact again. The mirror looked as good as new again. She glanced at the bandaid again, which covered almost her entire jaw. It reminded her of what had happened with the Nighlok Scorpionic. She knew that she had to be much more careful during the next Nighlok attack. She also wouldn't confront the monster too personally anymore. Maybe as Sailor Avalon or as Lupa, the She-Wolf of Paris. Today she would also start with the first self-defense lesson, which she would get from Jayden. She was a little nervous about what he would teach her this lesson. She signed deeply to steady her nerves. She did recall that she had an advantage. That advantage was that she had already learned some basic technics of being a ninja from her younger brother's best friend. Being a superheroine in Paris also had its perks. She wondered what Jayden would think about that.

'He'd probably have a heart attack.' She thought, grinning.

She ran a comb through her hair. Then she washed her face. She was careful about the bandaid. She then got dressed for the day. She had already laid out her clothes the night before. She chose to wear dark pink Bermuda shorts with a dark red belt, long dark red stockings – that just reached below her knees, dark pink sneakers, and a dark red T-shirt with elbow-length sleeves. She decided not to put her hair up yet. Then she left the bathroom. She walked over to her bed. There she petted Harena on her head.

Fellan followed his Holder out of the bathroom.

Yoni opened the window, causing Prudentia to immediately fly out. She then walked to the door. She had barely put her hand on the doorknob when she paused. She turned to Fellan.

"Are you coming or are you staying here?" She asked her Kwami with a raised eyebrow.

"I'll stay here. I'll hide when the mentor comes over to feed Harena." He said and flew to her bed where he sat on the pillow.

"Alright, see you after breakfast." She said opening the door.

She left the room. She then closed the door behind her. She walked through the house to the living room. Just as she turned the corner, she saw – just like yesterday – Kevin leaving through the double black front doors. This time she went to the kitchen without hesitation.

In the kitchen Ji was busy preparing breakfast. He noticed her presence. He turned towards her.

"Good morning Yoni." He said kindly with a broad smile. "Did you sleep well?"

Yoni smiled and said: "Good morning Ji. Yes, I slept well."

"That's good to hear." He said as he continued preparing breakfast. "Are you ready for the first self-defense lesson?"

Ji was quite curious about how Yoni felt about it. After experiencing a Nighlok attack yesterday, it had been decided that he and Jayden would teach her some self-defense. He had a feeling that Jayden would be teaching these lessons alone. He knew that he would ask him for advice on what and how he could teach her. Last night he advised Jayden to start with the basics for now. Once she had mastered all that, they could only learn something new and more difficult.

"Well, I'm looking forward to it. I'm a bit nervous about it too." Yoni honestly admitted. "It feels like I'm going to learn a whole new subject. Then I get nervous too."

"I can understand that you're a bit nervous. That's normal. It's something completely new to you too." Ji said smiling and very reassuring. "You don't have to worry at all. You're in good hands. You'll do just fine."

Yoni smiled weakly. She started to distribute the glasses and cutlery over the raised table and counter.

Once breakfast was almost ready, Jayden, Mike, Mia, and Emily entered the kitchen.

Yoni noticed that all four of them were wearing almost the same thing. Well, pretty much the same.

Jayden was wearing long loose black pants with a black cloth belt tied around his middle – with a red line in the middle. He was wearing a black T-shirt with fairly short sleeves – two red lines on the edge and a red line at the hem of the neck, and black shoes. The Ranger symbol was in silver on his left chest.

Mike was wearing the same thing as Jayden. Only the lines weren't red, but green.

And what the girls were wearing was slightly different than the boys.

Emily was wearing knee-length loose black pants with a black belt tied around her waist. In the middle of it, there was a yellow line. She was also wearing a pair of black socks with a yellow edge, black sneakers, and a black T-shirt that had fair short sleeves. With two yellow lines on both sleeves. There was also a yellow line at the hem of the neck.

Mia was wearing the same thing as Emily. Instead of yellow lines, they were pink.

Because the boys were wearing relatively short sleeves, Yoni could see how muscular their arms were. That made her blink for a moment.

"Good morning." Jayden, Mike, Mia, and Emily said in unison.

"Good morning everyone." Ji said smiling as he began to divide the breakfast over seven plates. "You're just in time. Breakfast is just ready."

Yoni smiled kindly at the four Samurai Rangers.

"Wow, Yoni! You're an early riser too. Just like Kevin." Mike said teasingly as he and Jayden took a seat at the counter. "Are you doing that to impress Jayden? Are you going to become training buddies with Kevin now?"

Yoni stuck her tongue out at him in response. She then sat down at the raised table with Mia and Emily.

That made Mike grin broadly.

Mia rolled her eyes and said to Yoni: "Don't listen to Mike. He's just teasing you."

Yoni noticed that Ji had filled her plate a little less today than the day before. This was more of a portion that she was used to. Also what her adoptive mother would serve her at home.

Kevin came back promptly at eight o'clock. He quickly went to freshen up and put on some clean clothes. He then entered the kitchen. He immediately took a seat at the counter with Jayden and Mike. He began to eat his breakfast.

Kevin was wearing the same as Mike and Jayden. However, his lines were blue, instead of red or green.

Ji left the kitchen for a moment, while Yoni and the five Samurai Rangers were quietly eating breakfast.

Yoni frowned after him. She wondered where he was going. She hoped that Fellan would be hiding if Ji went to her room.

Mike looked at Yoni with a mischievous grin, when the Samurai mentor had left the kitchen. He couldn't help but tease her.

"So Yoni, are you ready for your first self-defense lesson?" He asked mischievously, looking at the girls at the raised table. "Well, I hope you are. I heard that Jayden is going to make things a little difficult for you."

He saw how Yoni looked at him in shock, before glancing at Jayden and then back at him.

Yoni was somewhat shocked when she heard that from Mike. She looked in shock at the green Samurai Ranger. She then glanced at Jayden and then back at Mike. She was used to things as Lupa and Sailor Avalon. Also by doing some yoga with her adoptive mother. She had to swallow due to her nerves. She started to get a bit of a bad feeling in her stomach. That made her appetite plummet a little.

Shaking his head, Jayden rolled his eyes.

"Mike!" Kevin said very disapprovingly.

"What?" Mike said very innocently with his hands raised. "I'm just teasing her."

"Teasing her? Yeah, right." Kevin said frowning and didn't believe much of it. "You're scaring her more than teasing her. You're making her more distrustful of Jayden. She has to trust him. Your teasing is only making it harder for both of them! You've absolutely no idea how much time Jayden has put into it to prepare for this first self-defense lesson!"

Mia noticed that Yoni had turned slightly pale.

"Don't listen to him, Yoni. You've nothing to be afraid of." She reassured soothingly. "You'll do fine. I'm sure of it."

"Thanks, Mia." Yoni said gratefully with a small smile.

"Mia is right, Yoni." Emily agreed enthusiastically. "By the way, Jayden will help you if things get a bit difficult making things don't work out well."

Yoni simply smiled. She started to feel a little better.

"I'm confident that you'll do very well for this first lesson. You also have one of the best self-defense teachers. You're definitely in good hands!" Kevin said promisingly. "You can always ask us for help if you need it. We can maybe even use Mike as a guinea pig to practice all these techniques on."

That made everyone – except Mike – chuckle.

"Hey!" Mike exclaimed and started pouting.

This quickly made Yoni feel much better. She continued to eat her breakfast. She knew she would need all her strength soon to use it during the self-defense lesson.

When Yoni and the Samurai Rangers had finished their breakfast, the six of them started to clear the table and counter together.

Ji walked back into the kitchen at the moment, while they were cleaning up. He stood in the doorway for a moment.

"Rangers, please proceed to the courtyard. Begin with your warm-up before your scheduled training for today begins." He announced sternly.

Jayden nodded curtly and immediately left the kitchen. He was closely followed by the other four Samurai Rangers.

Ji then turned his attention to Yoni.

"Yoni, would you mind going to your room to change?" He asked very calmly. "In the meantime, I've fed Harena. I left your training clothes on your bed. You can wear this anytime. Especially when the Rangers wear theirs for their symbol power or swordsmanship training."

"Alright." Yoni said softly.

She walked past Ji out of the kitchen. She walked back through the house to her room. When she entered, she saw that Harena was eating with gusto from a plate of meat. She saw that Fellan had taken some pieces of it to eat. She then glanced at her bed. As Ji had told her, she saw her training clothes laying there. She sat down on her bed. She started to take off her shoes and socks. She put on the black socks with a purple trim. Once she took off her shorts, she put on a pair of loose knee-length pants. She tied the cloth belt with a purple line in the middle – around her waist. She had taken her T-shirt. She put on a black T-shirt with fairly short sleeves. On each sleeve, there were two purple lines. At the hem of the neck, there was only one purple line. Finally, she put on the black sneakers.

Yoni would then go to her bathroom to put her long hair up in a ponytail. Meanwhile, she took another look at her reflection in the mirror. She now wore the same thing as Mia and Emily. She then left the bathroom. She walked back to her room's door.

Fellan had eaten his fill. He flew back to his Holder, who had now completely changed for her self-defense lesson. Which he didn't like. His Holder didn't need these lessons at all. She did yoga every day with her adoptive mother, Miyoko. Her adoptive parents even had her take up a martial art for self-defense. For some reason, his Holder had also taken an interest in fencing. This allowed her to receive fencing lessons from the very best fencer in America. Her fencing instructor was from California. His name was Diego II de la Vega, descended from the first Diego – who turned out to be the infamous thief Zorro who plagued the city of Los Angeles in its early founding years.

Fellan had taken a liking to Diego, when he met the man after Yoni had started to wear his Miraculous at the age of eleven. He remembered the time when his former Holder had stayed with the de la Vega family during the early years of Los Angeles and, together with Zorro, ravaged the city in an attempt to drive out corruption. His Holder's cousin had discovered for himself that she was the heroine Lupa, the She-Wolf of Paris. He couldn't help but laugh at his reaction, but when Diego revealed that he had taken up his ancestor's mantle to be the new Zorro, the Kwami could hardly contain his joy.

Fellan couldn't wait to see the face of these Samurai Rangers when they discovered that his Holder was the superheroine Lupa as Sailor Avalon and had magic. He would then laugh his head off.

"Well, you look all ready to start your training." Fellan said grinning broadly as he looked her up and down. "To be honest, that outfit suits you. It's something completely different from what you would normally wear for yoga, martial arts, or fencing."

"Well, I can't really do this transformed as Lupa or Sailor Avalon, right?" Yoni said a little smugly. "If I did, Jayden would definitely have something to worry about."

Fellan laughed softly at this and said: "It's kind of cute that he cares so much about your safety. I just wonder how he would react if he found out that you do yoga as well as specific martial arts and fencing."

"We'll find out soon enough." She said grinning mischievously, while she put her hand on the door handle.

She opened it and left her room.

Fellan floated out of the room behind his Holder.

When Yoni tried to close the door, Harena slipped out of the room. This made her roll her eyes while smiling, as her Kwami just rolled his eyes. She then shook her head, still smiling. She then walked through the house again to go through the double black doors and enter the entrance hall.

"Fellan? Hide. They can't see you." Yoni whispered warningly.

She then opened the double black front doors and went outside.

Harena followed her closely outside.

Fellan slipped outside unnoticed. He hid in a good spot so that he could watch the training from there.

Yoni had to shield her eyes with her hand from the bright morning sun when she came outside. She stepped down the wooden platform. She noticed that Mia and Emily were standing on the path, that led to the front door. She noticed that Mike and Kevin were standing together on a wooden training floor, which was in front of the house. All four were holding a wooden practice sword made of worn bamboo – a shinai sword.

Jayden also held such a sword. He slowly approached stealthily. He did this with his back and shoulders straight. This made him appear more confident. As he approached her, he looked her up and down in her training clothes. This was he could determine from this observation what her posture was and what could be improved. He had noticed that her posture often changed between two different ones. One was being small and insecure. That turned out to go unnoticed. The other one was straight and more confident. When she assumed it, it was as if she came from noble birth and wasn't afraid of anything. He had seen her adopt this posture when she faced the Nighlok Scorpionic. He had noticed that she often had that reserved attitude. He was convinced that she would blossom further through the self-defense lessons. Then she would adopt a confident attitude more. He was going to take care of that. He also thought she looked rather cute in her training clothes. With a small smile, he stopped at an arm's length from Yoni.

Yoni had focused her attention on the four Samurai Rangers. She could see that they were ready to start training. She turned her attention to Jayden, when he joined her.

"Yoni, I'm going to observe the training of the other Samurai Rangers with Ji for a moment. If necessary, make some adjustments. Then we'll start with the self-defense lesson." Jayden explained briefly. "Is that okay with you?"

Yoni nodded in agreement and asked curiously: "What can I do in the meantime, while you're busy with the other Rangers?"

Jayden thought about that moment and thoughtfully suggested: "If you want, you can watch the other Rangers practice their swordplay."

"That sounds interesting to me. Maybe I can learn something from that too." She said honestly smiling.

Perhaps she could learn something extra from them that she could use against Diego when fencing.

With a broad grin, Jayden said proudly: "That's a good idea. Come on, we'll stand at this corner of the training platform."

He put his hand on her lower back. He held his practice sword in his other hand. The wooden blade was pointed at the ground. He led her towards the nearest corner of the wooden training floor.

Ji stood at the corner further away. This way he had a good view of all four Samurai Rangers. Wherever they were spread out.

Mia and Emily had stepped onto the pad. Further away from the double front doors and wooden terrace. This was to prevent accidents.

Mike and Kevin stood together in the center of the wooden training floor. They each stood at an arm's length from each other.

When Mike had taken his place on the platform, he had the house on his right. Kevin stood on the other side of him. They both held their practice swords in their hands.

Mia and Emily also held their practice sword in their hands. They both got into positions to begin their training. Emily stood with her back to the double front doors. Mia stood directly across from her.

Jayden stood in place. Both his hands were on the hilt of his practice sword. The point of the sword rested on the ground between his feet. Yoni stood to his left. She had her arms crossed, waiting for the training to begin.

"Rangers, begin your swordplay training." Ji said clearly throughout the courtyard.

The Samurai Rangers – except Jayden – began their training.

Finally, the training had begun.

Mike and Kevin both held their practice swordplay the hilt with both hands. They swung them from the bottom left to the top right. Then they would release the hilt with one hand. They jumped up. During their jump, they each kicked in the air. Then they took the hilt with both hands again. They then made a diagonal swing from the top right.

Emily and Mia were also training.

Mia held her practice sword up. She made a semicircle. She then held her sword outstretched in her left hand. The point was pointing downwards.

Emily did the same thing. Only it was mirrored.

They both then switched places, when Emily did a one-handed cartwheel.

Mia took a big step forward in an evasive arc around Emily. Then she turned back at her.

Mike and Kevin each made a spinning jump. When their feet came back on the ground, they each made another diagonal strike from the top right to the bottom left. They then repeated the sequence once more.

"The life of a Samurai must be one of discipline and order. Samurai must constantly improve their skills. To ready themselves for battle." Ji explained calmly to the training Samurai Rangers.

Meanwhile, he slowly walked from the corner where he stood before to the corner where Jayden and Yoni were observing the training.

Kevin and Mike both held their bamboo swords horizontally in their hand. They then walked clockwise, spinning around, back to the side of the training floor where they started. Once there, they continued their training. They began repeating the series of techniques again.

Kevin made a horizontal swing from the left to the right. Which was a little bit too big. This caused him to accidentally hit Mike's shoulder with his practice sword.

When Mike was hit, he jumped in surprise. He grabbed his bamboo sword by the wooden blade with his other hand.

"Ah!" He cried out startled and in pain.

He clutched his stricken shoulder with his other hand. He leaned forward a little in pain.

Kevin was shocked. He looked worried at his fellow Samurai next to him.

Yoni grimaced in pain. She bit her lower lip slightly. According to her, that must have been quite hard.

"Ouch! That must hurt." She mumbled worriedly. "That's going to be a nice big bruise."

"Are you okay?" Jayden asked Mike calmly.

He slowly walked over to Mike.

"Of course." Mike agreed.

Yoni could tell that he was trying to act tough. Although he was still holding his shoulder. He moved it a little.

"Get into your opponent's head. Use your instincts to sense their next move and feel their attack coming." Jayden explained helpfully with a small smile.

Mike looked very intently at Jayden. He listened attentively to the advice. In the meanwhile, he now held his practice sword differently. He mirrored his posture to Jayden's. That was holding the top of the wooden hilt with both hands. The wooden blade was pointed towards the ground.

Jayden's smile suddenly turned into a grin. He removed a hand from the wooden hilt. He just gripped it better with his other hand. Without so much as looking, he swung his practice sword all the way back. He almost hit Kevin in the head when he passed from behind him.

Luckily, Kevin was able to dodge the oncoming sword by ducking very quickly.

Jayden then quickly turned towards Kevin. He raised his sword until it was just above his head. He held the hilt with both hands. In a diagonal strike, he brought his sword down from the top right to the bottom left.

By stepping aside to the left, Kevin dodged it again. He kept his body slightly turned to the left.

Emily and Mia had briefly stopped their training to watch Jayden's demonstration with Kevin.

Kevin was able to dodge every single blow from Jayden without any problem.

"Wow, Kevin, that's amazing." Mike said amazed, watching how well Kevin could anticipate and dodge these attacks.

"Ah!" He suddenly exclaimed.

Mike had taken another hard blow. This time this was his right shoulder that bore the brunt. Now he grabbed that shoulder.

This time, Jayden's practice sword was the culprit for hitting Mike so hard.

While attacking Kevin, Jayden swung his practice sword back in a horizontal motion. That way, he hit Mike's other shoulder. He still held his practice sword horizontally against that shoulder. He looked back over his shoulder to look at Mike.

"Mike, always keep your guard up." He said sternly to Mike with a raised eyebrow.

Ji stood next to Yoni watching it al how, how Jayden and Kevin demonstrated on how to anticipate and avoid attacks. He was a bit surprised to see Mike fail to do this twice. He was unable to dodge either Jayden's practice sword or Kevin's. He started to wonder if Mike had trained for that during the beginning of his Samurai Ranger training.

"Mike, let me ask you." He said calmly.

Mike turned his attention to the Samurai mentor. He had turned his body completely towards Ji. He even took a step forward. He held his practice sword with only one hand.

At that same moment, Jayden took a leaping step to the right. When he had turned completely towards Mike, he had taken the hilt with both hands. As he executed his leaping step to the side, he struck Mike's shoulder horizontally again with his sword. This time it hit Mike's shoulder blade.

"Hey, that's not fair." Mike said indignantly, as he turned to Jayden with an angry look. "You distracted me."

Jayden now stood diagonally across from Mike. He held his sword horizontally up. He let the wooden blade rest against his shoulder. He smiled playfully. He even looked somewhat challengingly at Mike.

From a safe distance, Kevin watched as Jayden tried to tell Mike to always be on your guard. In order to anticipate and avoid attacks.

"Okay, I get it." Mike said with a big grin.

He glanced at Ji and Yoni before looking back at Jayden.

"Let me try again." He said determinedly, completely ready for it.

He held his sword halfway up the wooden blade. He looked impenetrably at Jayden with great determination.

Jayden just stood there calmly in front of Mike. He had both hands on the top of the hilt of his practice sword. The wooden blade was pointed to the ground.

"One more time." Mike said challenging Jayden.

Jayden moved his hands to the hilt. He held his sword up with the point upwards. He waited for a moment before attacking. This way he kept up the tension for a while. With one foot he took a big sideways step to the right. This was to be able to carry out a deep attack. He struck with his sword horizontally from the left to the right at the back of Mike's knee.

This time Mike was able to dodge the attack. He did this by jumping up and doing a backwards somersault. When both feet were back on the ground, he turned towards Ji. He was convinced that it was over. Only he was very wrong.

Jayden suddenly made another horizontal swing with his practice sword. This time it was from the right to the left. That way he unexpectedly hit Mike's behind.

Mike let out a yelp of pain. He jumped in fright. He grabbed his behind. His face was contorted again in pain, but also in frustration. He turned to Jayden.

Yoni rolled her eyes. She also shook her head. A small smile appeared on her lips. That was because she had an idea of why Jayden had done that to Mike. It was a wake-up call for Mike to always stay alert.

Jayden held his practice sword up horizontally. He held it by the hilt with both hands. The wooden blade pointed to the right.

"Now watch this." Jayden advised Mike, as he brought his practice sword up again.

Suddenly, Jayden turned towards Kevin.

Kevin stood a few steps away behind Jayden. His attention was rather focused on Mike. He looked at him disappointedly.

As soon as Jayden had turned to Kevin, he suddenly lashed out with a diagonal blow. That went from his top left to the bottom right. It was aimed at Kevin's head. This was dodged by Kevin. Then he did a diagonal swing from the top right to the bottom left. He had aimed this at Kevin's leg. This was also dodged.

Kevin dodged this attack by lifting his leg up. He moved it to his left in an arcing motion. He dodged the next one by somersaulting the right over the attacking sword.

Jayden had attacked Kevin again with a diagonal strike from the top left to the bottom right. He then quickly turned back to Mike.

Jayden and Kevin had now switched places. They continued their mug fight.

Mike stood on the sidelines watching it. He rubbed his hand over the sore spot on his behind. He quickly started to feel very insecure. Especially when he saw how well Kevin could dodge the attack. Which he couldn't do very well. He found it quite difficult that everyone from the Samurai Rangers could do all of this except him. Because Jayden and Kevin were busy with each other and the others were watching them attentively, he slipped away from the training and the house unnoticed.

Meanwhile, Jayden and Kevin had switched places once more in their fight.

Jayden delivered another low horizontal strike with his bamboo sword. This time from the left to the right. This was aimed at Kevin's knees. This was dodged by Kevin with a high-spinning jump. This made him look like a ballerina.

When his feet were back on the ground, Kevin looked intently at Jayden.

Jayden then made another horizontal strike. This time from his left to his right. Kevin was able to dodge that by leaning back as far as possible. This caused him to almost be sprawled out on the wooden training floor. Then he brought his practice sword vertically down, only for Kevin to quickly get back up to dodge it.

To get back up, Kevin brought his legs slightly bent up. He then swung them forward and pushed himself hard off the floor with his back. He deftly got back to his feet. Only his pants fell to his knees. It was because he had swung his legs so hard. Dark blue underpants with small light blue dots became visible.

That made Yoni, Mia, and Emily laugh loudly.

Kevin looked down in shock. Blushing, he quickly pulled his pants back up with one hand. In the other hand, he held his practice sword. He looked embarrassed for a moment to where Emily, Mia, and Yoni were giggling.

Jayden faced Kevin. His body was turned towards him. He had lowered his practice sword. The point was pointing towards the ground. He put his other hand on his side. He slightly shook his head, smiling.

Emily stopped laughing. She looked behind her, smiling. Only it quickly turned into a frown when she looked back ahead.

"Hey, where did Mike go?" She asked the others, frowning.

The others had stopped laughing. They all looked around, looking for Mike. They couldn't find him either.

"Hmmm." Jayden said thoughtfully, frowning.

Yoni found it strange that no one had seen Mike leave. She wondered if Mike had learned some ninja moves too. Just like her adoptive brother's best friend, Shun Kazami. To be able to slip away unnoticed like that.

"Wow, Mike has already mastered this ninja move very well. Being able to slip away unnoticed." Yoni said lightly stunned. "I want to be able to do that too."

Well, that wasn't really necessary. She had already learned this move, thanks to Shun. She just needed to practice it more to get the hang of it.

Jayden chuckled softly at that.

Emily and Mia giggled softly.

Kevin was the only one looking disapproving.

"That may be true. Apparently, Mike is very good at slipping away unnoticed like a ninja. This would come in handy in battle. He just shouldn't have slipped away during training." Ji said calmly yet sternly.

Kevin nodded in agreement at this statement.

"Mike isn't a good example to learn from. You should take the example of someone who is dedicated. Who trains a lot to be able to perform everything perfectly in battle." He then said sternly to Yoni.

Yoni looked at Kevin with disinterest. She then rolled her eyes in annoyance. She had a hunch as to why Mike had slipped away. She just wondered if the others had any idea why. She thought Kevin was now particularly biased towards Mike. It seemed to her that he had little regard for his fellow Samurai. She wondered if this was because Mike had previously led a life that was as normal as possible, full of jokes and pranks. Mike reminded her of both Jayden Yuki, her best friend at Duel Academy, and Fred and George Weasley, the Gryffindor comedy due, and her two best friends at Hogwarts. She missed them though. Just not as much as her brother Harry – who was now stuck with the Dursleys – and her two adoptive brothers Dan Kuso and Chazz Princeton. She also missed her adoptive parents and Wardington where they live. She thought Kevin was far too formal and disciplined. He did everything so strictly according to the Samurai code, that he barely had time for fun or relaxation. In some ways, he reminded her a bit of Shun, who was very disciplined due to his ninja training and could always keep his cool in stressful situations. Except at least he made time for fun.

"Okay Rangers, continue your training." Ji told them sternly.

He then turned his full attention to Kevin and said: "Before you start, Kevin, make sure your pants are pulled up properly and your belt is tied a little tighter. At least that way you can prevent it from happening again."

Kevin blushed hard. He pulled his pants back up. He tied his belt tighter. Slightly tighter than before. That way he would prevent his pants from falling down again.

Emily and Mia quickly resumed their training.

Yoni remained where she was. She thought Jayden would train with Kevin for a while now that Mike was gone. She wasn't sure when the self-defense lesson would start. She had a feeling that it would start after their training.

Jayden focused his attention on Yoni. He held his practice sword by the hilt with both hands. He held the wooden blade pointed downward. The tip of it rested on the wooden training floor between his feet.

"Yoni, come here." He said calmly with a small smile.

Yoni slowly walked over to him. She was a little nervous. She wondered why she had to come to him. She looked at him questioningly.

"Come on, let's start with the self-defense lesson." Jayden announced calmly.

Yoni looked at him, shocked. She blinked a little.

"What?! Already?" She asked startled.

"Yeah, why not?" He said, shrugging.

He couldn't help but frown at her outburst.

"The others will continue their training. Then we can start teaching you self-defense." He continued.

Yoni then looked very warily at Jayden's practice sword.

"Uh... you're not going to use that sword during these lessons, are You?" She asked uncertainly, gesturing to his sword.

She hadn't forgotten that Mike had taken quite a beating from it. She would rather not be beaten by it.

Jayden glanced at his practice sword made of bamboo.

"What? Oh no, I'm not going to use this for the self-defense lessons." He said reassuringly smiling. "This will only come in handy for my training. I'm going to put this away for a while. Then we'll start on the self-defense lesson."

Jayden walked past her towards the double black front doors. He went onto the wooden raised terrace. He walked up to a wooden rack, standing further away from the front door.

The rack stood in front of the large living room window. The rack still had a few more bamboo practice swords sticking vertically.

Jayden stored his practice sword in the same manner in the rack. He walked back to and stood in front of her. He could tell she was a little nervous. He put a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, we're not going to do anything too extreme today." He said reassuringly. "There's no need to worry."

Kevin was still standing on the wooden training floor. He looked a little unsure. He wasn't sure where to continue his training now that Jayden was going to start the self-defense lesson.

"Kevin, could you perhaps resume your training near Emily and Mia?" Jayden asked kindly. "I need the training floor for the self-defense lesson."

Kevin nodded. He went to the path where Mia and Emily were training together. There he resumed his training.

Ji turned his attention to the training Samurai Rangers. He also kept an eye on Jayden and Yoni, when the self-defense lesson was about to start. He also wanted to be able to provide them with advice when they needed it.

Jayden and Yoni stood in the center of the wooden training floor.

"Come on, let's get started on the first self-defense lesson." Jayden said smiling, but sounding a little nervous. "Are you ready, Yoni?"

Yoni raised her finger and said: "Almost. Wait a second."

Jayden crossed his arms. He watched as Yoni pulled her pants up some more and tightened her belt a little more. That made him chuckle softly.

"Now I'm ready." Yoni announced.

She could almost swear that she heard her Kwami, Fellan, laugh softly somewhere at this.

"Okay, we'll get started in a moment. But first I want to ask you a few questions. I can then use your answers to estimate approximately how far you're able to defend yourself. Then I can adjust these lessons if necessary." Jayden briefly explained, to which she nodded in agreement.

"Have you ever been attacked? Has someone ever grabbed onto you really hard and wouldn't let go?" He asked.

Yoni pursed her lips in thought. She thought deeply about her answer. She had been attacked a few times during her four years at Hogwarts. Only then, magic was involved. So that was ruled out by her promise to Ji. Now she tried to remember when and how she had been attacked without the use of magic at Hogwarts, Dual Academy, and in Wardington with her adoptive family, the Kuso family. After her parents' murder, she and Harry had gone to live with the Dursleys for a few years. That was even before the adoption took place. All those years with the Dursleys, she was a defenseless little girl who could barely defend herself against two adults, who abused her and Harry both physically and emotionally. That was more in the past. She can't really remember if she was physically attacked during the rest of her childhood in Wardington. Saving this world and the Bakugan homeworld was something entirely else. At Hogwarts, she had learned that wizards and witches prefer to attack their targets magically rather than physically. That was too Muggle-ish for them. In Paris, as Lupa, she teamed up with Ladybug and Cat Noir to battle a supervillain, Hawk Moth. Only they had never come face to face with this villain or had a direct fight with him. No, Hawk Moth used his Miraculous powers for dark purposes. He thus sowed terror in the city. He used other people who were at their lowest point to fight against Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Lupa. At Dual Academy they were also not for physical violence either. Everything was fought out in a duel with the famous card game Duel Monsters. Which was relatively harmless. That was until it became a Shadow Game where you put your life and even your soul on the line. There were two moments where she could out of the situation without using magic or her Miraculous.

"Well, someone grabbed me tight once. I think it happened twice." She said thoughtfully and honestly. "I was fourteen at the time."

She hadn't included the confrontation she had with her adoptive brother Chazz Princeton at the beginning of the previous school year. He had only grabbed her tightly and then let go. He hadn't attacked her. So it didn't count for her.

"How did they grab you during two times?" Jayden asked as calmly as possible. Only he also gritted his teeth.

He had to suppress his anger quite well when he heard that. He was also somewhat curious. He wanted to know what Yoni had done to get free again.

"One time it was one of my professors. He was a horrible professor and the biggest bungler. I'm even convinced that he's the biggest idiot and pervert in the world. He had grabbed me firmly by my upper arms. I believe his handprints were visible in bruises on my arms for two weeks." She said. "The second time was by a former student. This time I was grabbed by the wrist. He did that to hold me back. He wanted to prevent me from helping my brother."

"How did you manage to free yourself from their grip?" He asked curiously.

"I stepped really hard on the former student's toes. I did that with the heel of my shoe and my full weight. My shoes at the time were black ballerinas with a heel." She said.

She then got a mischievous grin on her lips, as she continued: "I once kicked my professor very hard against his shins. I then stood on his foot with my heel. Then I kneed him in his sensitive parts. I then ran away as fast as I could. I then informed one of my other professors about it."

Jayden was very impressed with how Yoni had managed to free herself from the grasp of two people. He made a painful face, hearing that she rammed her knee into the pervert professor's sensitive parts.

"Those are already very good ways to escape from someone's grasp." He said proudly. "I hope that that professor no longer teaches at your school."

"This year it was a different professor. He was a much better teacher than his predecessor." Yoni said smiling. "That's what I've heard from my brother."

"Heard? Don't you go to the same school as your brother?" Jayden asked frowning.

"We do. Only this year, I had gone to another school. Only, my former headmaster pulled me out of there a month and a half before the end of the school year." She said somewhat annoyed.

"There wasn't much point in doing that. Why did he do it?" Jayden said.

"Well, that's the strangest thing of all. I've no idea. I asked him that too. I only got a mysterious answer in return." She said annoyed, her arms crossed.

"Well, hopefully, he won't do that again next time." Jayden said smiling. "If you would go back to that other school."

Yoni smiled back and said: "Yeah, hopefully."

Jayden cleared his throat and said: "Alright, let's move on. During the self-defense lessons, I'm going to teach you hand-to-hand combat and other martial arts, such as Judo or Karate. Maybe sword fighting too. That will be for later."

Yoni was surprised that he wanted to teach her so much. She couldn't wait to spar against the Samurai Rangers in sword fighting through her fencing. Maybe she could use what she would now learn as Lupa or Sailor Avalon.

"You don't have to teach me sword fighting anymore. So you can skip those lessons. Maybe you can change it into sparring in sword fighting." She suggested smiling secretive.

Jayden looked at her in surprise. He wasn't alone.

Ji and the three other Samurai Rangers also looked at her in surprise.

"What do you mean, Yoni? Can you sword fight?" Ji asked surprised, approaching Yoni.

Yoni turned to Ji with a smile and said: "I can sword fight. I learned fencing from my cousin, Diego II de la Vega. He is a genius at fencing."

"Wow, is he really that good?" Emily asked amazed.

Yoni nodded in agreement and said: "Oh yes, very good actually. He's the best. He's a multiple national fencing champion in both Spain and California as well as a multiple world fencing champion."

Ji and the four Samurai Rangers were quite impressed by this.

Jayden was a little taken aback. He had no idea that Yoni could fence. He began to wonder if there was anything else she couldn't do. If there wasn't, she might no longer need the self-defense lessons. Which he would find that a shame.

"What else can you do besides fencing?" Ji asked Yoni curiously.

"Well, besides fencing, I also do yoga sessions with my adoptive mother. That's our mother-daughter moment." Yoni said smiling. "I also do Tia Chi and Baguezhang martial arts. I was planning on learning the Nothern Shaolin martial arts as well."

"Wow, fencing yoga, Tia Chi, Baguazhang, and then Northern Shaolin." The Samurai mentor summed up amazed. "Maybe you don't need those self-defense lessons after all."

Ji glanced over Yoni's shoulder at Jayden. He looked disappointed upon hearing that the self-defense lessons would no longer take place.

"Well, let's not be hasty about canceling the self-defense lessons. They can still come in handy." Yoni said quickly, as she turned to Jayden, smiling.

Jayden smiled back and asked: "Shall we begin?"

Yoni nodded eagerly and in agreement.

From then on, Jayden and Yoni started their self-defense lesson. He instructed her to take on the correct stance. Which was of course very important. When she had done so he instructed her to attack him in a combat form of her choosing. This way, he could determine her stability to react, should he dodge or parry her attack. With a lot of persuasion, he was finally able to convince her to attack him. Eventually, she did. Whenever she attacked him, he dodged her attack. They then started to fight each other. They attacked one dodged or blocked each other's attacks.

Suddenly, Yoni stumbled and lost her balance. That happened because she had leaned a little too far forward.

Fortunately, Jayden was able to catch her just in time before she fell to the wooden floor, hurting herself on top of her existing injuries. He wrapped his arms around her waist. He pulled her firmly against his muscular chest.

Yoni looked up, startled. She looked straight into his eyes. She slowly began to blush slightly.

Jayden smiled and said: "Not bad. I can do something with that. There's still some work to be done. We'll get there."

The lesson then resumed.

~In the Netherworld~

On the poisonous waters of the Sanzu River, Master Xandred's boat floated. The water level hadn't risen enough to be able to flow into the human world.

On the monstrous boat, Dayu stood by the window. She looked across the expanse of poisonous water.

"With a water level this low, we'll never flood Earth." She said plainly and annoyed.

"Ooh-ah-ooh! You're a downer, Dayu." Octoroo said brightly and reassuringly. "If you just frighten those human crybabies, the water will rise and we can sail out of here."

He stood by the bookcase. He had a black leather-bound book in his hands.

Master Xandred sat on his mat on the other side of the hold. A Mooger knelt beside him. It held his red saké bowl.

Another Mooger walked past Master Xandred with a large jar. It was filled with medicine. It knelt down beside him to pour the medicine.

"Then quit flapping your noodles and start scaring some humans. In case you've forgotten what scared looks like, take note." Master Xandred growled moodily.

Suddenly, he grabbed the Mooger, with the jar full of medicine, tightly around the neck in a chokehold.

The Mooger struggled desperately. It clawed at the hand to escape its chokehold.

A Nighlok struggled aboard along the side of the boat.

Once about, the Nighlok entered the hold and said: "You're in a violent mood today, boss."

"Oh Rofer, I'd ask you to lend a hand, but why not lend us two?" Octoroo said suddenly happy and excited at the sight of the Nighlok, as he walked further into the hold.

Rofer was large and slimy green. He had mean blue eyes and razor-sharp teeth. He also had fairly long arms with very large brown hands. These were clenched into fists. From behind, he had a gigantic right hand with sharp nails clenched around his waist. There was another gigantic hand with such sharp nails. It clung to his upper body from behind. Its fingers tightened around the Nighlok's shoulders and head.

"How about I lend you two of the finest fists any world had ever seen?" Rofer suggested maliciously, holding up his abnormally large clenched fists.

"I hope you don't brag like that in front of the Samurai Rangers." Dayu said calmly and defiantly from behind Rofer.

"Uh huh. Better watch what you say." The Nighlok growled at her, turning sharply towards her. "If it wasn't for Master Xandred, where would you be?"

As soon as that was said, Dayu swiftly threw a small fan-like golden pick towards the Nighlok. It flew narrowly past him. It ended up in the wooden door frame of Master Xandred's cabin.

Rofer looked startled at the sharpened pick, stuck in the wood. He gulped audibly in discomfort.

"It's actually you. YOU should watch what YOU say to me. You have no right to even talk to me, you big-fisted, little-brained nitwit." Dayu said calmly and menacingly.

She slowly strode towards the Nighlok and pointed at it. She then walked by. She kept her back to the Nighlok as it turned to face her.

"Hey, I like my big fists, and my brain is, uh..." Rofer exclaimed insulted.

"Oh, nitwit." Dayu snapped at him, turning sharply towards him.

Master Xandred had had enough of their bickering. He threw the struggling Mooger with tremendous force, snarling while sitting, at the two bickering Nighloks.

Dayu and Rofer both quickly took a step back to avoid the incoming Mooger.

The Mooger flew into the wooden wall with a row of window openings. It then collapsed there.

"That's enough, both of you, stop bickering." Master Xandred snapped in annoyance as he got to his feet.

He slowly walked towards them and said sternly: "The Sanzu River can't rise while you standing here."

Dayu sighed as she walked away, while Master Xandred turned his attention to Rofer.

"Rofer, you get down to the business of getting those humans to cry me a river." He ordered the Nighlok with the vicious large fists.

"That's exactly what I came here to do." Rofer said with honor and promise, bowing to Master Xandred and then turned to the row of windows. "and I won't let any goody-two-shoes Power Rangers stop me."

To emphasize these words, it slammed a fist on the window frame.

~In the Human world~

The humans were still unaware of the possible Nighlok threat. They went about their day without a care in the world.

Bulk was also very excited to show his nephew Spike what he had been doing with the garage in anticipation of his arrival. Together they entered the garage through the gate. They closed it behind them.

It was a little messy in the garage. It also smelled of paint.

Bulk turned to face the room. He had a big proud smile on his face. He hooked his thumbs behind the belt of his robe. He was wearing a gray dressing robe, white socks and flip-flops. Around his head, he had tied a white and gray checked tea towel.

Spike didn't seem to share his uncle's enthusiasm. He frowned. He was wearing black sneakers, white socks with three green stripes, yellow and black shorts, and a sleeveless T-shirt with white, green, and black horizontal stripes. He had tucked his T-shirt at the bottom into his shorts. He had white sweatbands around his head and both wrists.

"You, Uncle Bulk, what is this place?" He asked curiously.

"This is our new clubhouse." Uncle Bulk announced proudly.

He walked further into the garage. He walked over the cardboard sheets. Apparently, these would function as a training mat.

"I just finished fixing it up." He continued explaining, as he stood next to a self-constructed training dummy and turned back to Spike. "Here, you will learn the ways of the Samurai."

Bulk slammed his arms into the dummy in a horizontal swing. This caused it to lean backwards and threaten to fall over. He quickly managed to keep it upright. He didn't notice that a hook from the bike rack had hooked itself on the belt of his robe from behind.

"Huh." Spike said surprised, as he leaned forward a little to get a better look at what he had just noticed.

Uncle Bulk held up his finger and then continued seriously: "But it's not going to be easy. It's gonna be lots of hard work."

He turned around. He walked further into the garage. Without knowing that a bike hook was hanging on the belt at the back of his robe.

Spike noticed it. He pointed at it carefully.

"Uncle Bulk, you got-" He said slowly and hesitantly as if to warn him.

Uncle Bulk half-turned to his nephew, pointed his finger at Spike, and said calmly: "I'm not finished."

"But..." Spike tried again, but his uncle was no longer listening.

Uncle Bulk had turned his back to Spike again. He continued his explanation as he walked on: "The path of the Samurai is full of sacrifice, full of discipline, full of many hours of training."

With that, he walked further into the garage. He still had no idea that the bike rack was starting to tighten slowly. The other end was hooked to a row of metal cabinets that lined the left wall of the garage. In one of these cabinets was a heavy gold-colored bowling ball.

"Uncle Bulk-" Spike tried to hastily warn his uncle, before any accidents would happen.

"I'm NOT finished." Uncle Bulk interrupted his nephew annoyed, when he had turned completely to Spike.

He was now standing at the back of the garage near an old beige armchair. Behind him, there was a calendar on the wall of a Samurai movie.

"But I'm trying to tell you..." Spike tried to make him understand hastily, causing him to stutter a bit.

"And by the way, when we're training, I'm not your Uncle Bulk." Uncle Bulk interrupted bored.

"Huh? Well, then who are you?" Spike said frowning and confused.

That had quieted him down a little. It had made him forget that he was trying to warn his uncle.

"Call me... Sensei." Uncle Bulk proudly announced.

He had one hand balled into a fist. He raised this in front of him with his other hand. He then placed his other hand on his fist in a sort of salute.

"Sense- who?" Spike began, smiling, before frowning.

"Sensei. It means 'teacher'." Uncle Bulk explained frustrated as he lowered his hands.

"Huh. What about when we're not training?" He asked uncertainly.

His uncle sighed deeply and said annoyed: "Then you can call me 'Uncle Bulk'."

He was so annoyed that it seemed he wanted to walk back to his nephew and shake him.

"Oh, okay, but..." Spike said calmly, but was immediately interrupted.

"Anyway, this is where we eat, where we train." Uncle Bulk rudely interrupted him to continue talking about their clubhouse as he walked around a dining table with chairs. "It's also our sanctuary, a sacred place."

The bike rack was now completely taut. The metal cabinet began to wobble slightly, causing the bowling ball to move.

Spike started to get a little nervous seeing that. Only he kept quiet. He had already tried to warn his uncle several times. He never got the chance due to being interrupted or ignored often.

Uncle Bulk made a circular motion with both arms. He placed his hands as in prayer. By making this motion, the elastic stretcher of the bike hook got caught behind his thumb. This made it completely taut. He looked surprised. He then looked to his right.

This caused a chain reaction as the bike rack tightened even more. This caused the metal cabinet to lean forward slightly. The bowling ball rolled forward on the plank, until it fell. It fell on the end of a skateboard that was there. At the other end of it was q tray filled with paint. The force of the falling bowling ball catapulted it from the skateboard. The off-white paint flew straight through the air towards Uncle Bulk. It splashed into his right shoulder and upper arm. It even flew right onto his chubby face and into his mouth. It was completely open in surprise.

Spike watched with wide eyes and open mouth as this happened. He immediately started laughing grunting, while pointing at his uncle. He abruptly stopped laughing when his uncle glared at him.

Uncle Bulk lowered his arms again. He glared at his nephew. With an annoyed look, he spat the bit of paint out of his mouth.

~In the Shiba House~

The Samurai Rangers' sword fighting training and Yoni's self-defense lesson had ended several hours ago.

As soon as the self-defense lesson was over, Yoni returned to her room. Her Kwami followed her unnoticed. When she got back to her room, she immediately went to her bathroom to shower. Afterwards, she put her clothes back on from in the morning. She also removed all the band-aids and bandages from the night before. She looked at her injuries. She did this to see whether she should cover them again with band-aids and bandages. She didn't think that it was necessary. Her injuries looked alright. They were healing well.

Fellan also examined these injuries. He thought they looked pretty good too.

"That looks a lot better." Fellan said approvingly. "Your magic is quickening the healing process."

Yoni smiled. She hoped that the enhanced healing process wouldn't be noticed by the Samurai Rangers. She also knew that Jayden would want to see her injuries. Especially to see whether they were healing as they should. She thought it was nice of him to care about her like that. It was kind of sweet too. Her adoptive parents would coddle her in this situation. Something her Aunt Petunia only ever did with her cousin, Dudley.

As soon as she got dressed again and put her hair up, Yoni came out of the bathroom. She decided to go into the living room to either read a book or do some sketching in her sketchbook. She took her sketchbook and pencil case.

Fellan hid in his Holder's shirt, before she left her room again.

Yoni walked back through towards the living room. At the entrance to the indoor training room, she saw that there was someone else in the living room.

Harena was laying on one of the sand-colored seats.

Yoni rolled her eyes, smiling. She climbed the then took a seat on a couch. With her back to the window. Next to Harena's. She glanced at Harena, who was sleeping there purring. She mumbled with a loving smile: "Sleepyhead."

Yoni pulled out a black drawing pencil from her pencil case. She opened her sketchbook t to a blank page. She tapped her pencil against her pursed lips. She thought about what she would sketch. Whenever an idea came to her, she would start sketching it in her sketchbook.

A moment later, Jayden entered the living room. He sat right across from Yoni. he was now wearing gray sneakers, burgundy jeans, a gray and thin white striped light hoodie and a black jacket. He sat on the edge of his couch. His legs were slightly parted. He leaned forward slightly. He rested his elbows on his knees. In both hands he held his red closed LIon FoldingZord – in hand size. He looked at Yoni curiously and observantly, while she was sketching.

"So Yoni, what are you sketching?" He asked curiously, grinning.

Yoni looked up briefly to look at him, before looking back at her sketchbook.

"An idea, but you'll have to wait a little longer until it's ready." She replied, shrugging her shoulders and smiling.

Jayden chuckled softly.

"Well, I hope I get to see it soon, once it's done. It'll be worth the wait." He said, grinning.

Yoni smiled a little shyly. She even started to blush slightly. She hid her face behind her sketchbook for a moment. She felt a light poke in her ribs. This made her look down. She saw Fellan looking at her from his hiding place in her shirt. She noticed him looking at her with a mischievous grin. She couldn't help but roll her eyes. She knew her Kwami would tease her about this. Especially once they were alone in her room.

Yoni took a deep breath. Then she lowered her sketchbook again. Her gaze fell on what Jayden had in his hands.

"What do you have there in your hands, Jayden?" She asked the red Samurai Ranger curiously.

"Oh, this?" Jayden said, holding his hand up with his Zord. "This is my Lion FoldingZord."

He then held his hand flat out with the closed FoldingZord on it. It then flipped open.

Yoni studied the lion origami FoldingZord with a frown.

"You know, I think it's kind of strange that you can even fit in the cockpit of such a small thing." She said.

That made Jayden laugh.

"In Mega Mode, I can get into the cockpit of my Zord, which then becomes gigantic due to my Symbol Powers. Right now that won't be possible. Now it's impossible to do it." He explained.

Yoni chuckled and said: "Yes, that's definitely impossible now."

Jayden placed his FoldingZord on the wooden floor. It walked curiously towards Yoni. The Lion FoldingZord seemed to be studying her. It tried to decide whether or not she was an enemy. It ended up jumping onto her foot.

Yoni looked down when that happened. She raised an eyebrow, seeing the Zord on her foot. She watched as it jumped onto the corner of the coffee table. She held her hand out for it to jump on.

The Zord ran over her arm to her shoulder. It went around the back to the other shoulder. It then ran down her other arm to her hand. With that hand, she brought it back to the floor. It then jumped off. It then ran back to Jayden. It then jumped onto his foot to jump from there to the corner of the rectangular coffee table.

Jayden held his hand out for his Zord. It jumped on it and then ran over his arm to his shoulder. He turned his head to the right as his Zord ran from behind to his other shoulder. He smiled when his Zord did this. It flipped close again on his other shoulder. He took it from his shoulder with his hand.

Yoni also had a small smile on her lips.

Harena had slightly opened her eyes. She watched as the Lion FoldingZord approached and climbed on her mistress. She watched as the Zord took turns climbing her mistress and Jayden. When it flipped close again, she would close her eyes again.

Ji exited the entrance hall through the double black open door. He looked around somewhat worried. It seemed like he was looking for something or someone. He then noticed Jayden and Yoni sitting in the living room. He walked up to the steps.

"Have you seen Mike?" He asked them.

Yoni shook her head.

"No, what's going on?" Jayden said frowning.

"No one's seen him since he left practice this morning." Ji said anxiously.

"Where did he go?" He asked his mentor surprised.

"I've no idea, Jayden." Ji shrugged. "I've looked everywhere in and around the house, but I can't find him anywhere. I was hoping you both knew where Mike might be."

Jayden looked down for a moment, thinking. He then shook his head.

"I have no idea where Mike could be." He said sighing. "I'm sorry, Ji."

Yoni was also thinking about where Mike could be. She tapped the unsharpened pencil back against her pursed lips. She thought back to this morning's training. She remembered how Mike got quite insecure and discouraged, seeing how good Kevin was at everything and he wasn't. She had a feeling that it was the reason why Mike had slipped away from training.

"Yoni, do you have any idea where Mike could be?" Ji asked her hopefully.

Only Yoni didn't seem to have heard him. She was lost in her thoughts.

Jayden frowned and stood up. He walked past the coffee table. This way he was closer to her.

"Yoni? Yoni!" He said calmly and urgently, as he touched her shoulder.

Yoni blinked briefly. She looked up and asked frowning: "Sorry, did you ask something?"

Ji came a little closer.

"I asked if you had any idea where Mike might be?" He repeated calmly.

"Well, I don't really have any idea where Mike could be exactly. Except I know who he could be with." She said thoughtfully.

Jayden and Ji both looked at her blankly. They had absolutely no idea what she meant by that or what she was talking about.

Yoni saw their reaction. She sighed a little annoyed.

"I'll try to explain it in another way." She mumbled softly and annoyed.

Yoni sighed deeply again and asked: "Jayden, who would you go to if you had problems or were bothered by something?"

Jayden frowned at her. For a moment, he didn't understand what she meant. Until it finally dawned on him.

"Um, to my friends and family." He answered thoughtfully, hoping he was right.

"Well, there you have your answer to where Mike could be." She said grinning.

Her sketchbook lay closed on her lap. Her pencil was sticking out between its pages.

"Are you sure?" Ji asked her doubtfully.

"Maybe not one hundred percent. Given how insecure and discouraged Mike was during training, I would understand that he would go to his friends or family to talk about it. In order to gain new strength and courage out of it." Yoni admitted honestly. "Whenever I feel down, I would talk about it with my friends, adoptive parents, and brothers. That always makes me feel so much better."

She mentally added Fellan. Her Kwami was always there for her too. She could often vent to him about the things she couldn't tell others – with some exceptions. Sometimes she needed his sharp remarks to keep her going.

Ji and Jayden looked at her a little shocked when they heard that Yoni has adoptive parents. They didn't know about that.

"Adoptive parents? You didn't tell us about that." Ji said surprised.

"Yeah, why didn't you tell us?" Jayden asked her, frowning.

Yoni replied; shrugging: "You didn't ask. I thought you already knew from my school's headmaster."

The red Samurai Ranger and the Samurai Ranger mentor looked at each other worried. Not knowing that Yoni was adopted, they were worried that her adoptive parents would accuse them of kidnapping.

Yoni saw their looks and said reassuringly: "Don't worry, they know I'm here and that I wasn't kidnapped by you guys. They definitely want to meet you. Mom would love to cook for you too."

'It's Harry that they were worried about. Especially now that he's back at the Dursleys.' She added mentally.

Hearing that Ji and Jayden relaxed again in relief. They then turned back to the matter at hand. Finding Mike.

"That's possible. However, the Samurai Rangers aren't allowed to have contact with family and friends for the time being." Ji said.

Yoni frowned at that statement.

"Why not?" She asked frowning.

"We'll explain that later to you." Ji promised her calmly.

He then turned his attention back to Jayden and said: "Mike would probably be in the city. Go look for him there with the other Rangers."

Jayden nodded briefly. He strode down the living room steps. He then went through the double black door into the entrance hall.

Yoni put her sketchbook on the coffee table. She quickly got up. She ran after Jayden. She wanted to help find Mike.

~With Mike in the city~

As soon as he'd slipped away from training, Mike had fled into the city. He had gone into the city to visit his friends. He had changed clothes just before. Now he was wearing black jeans, a T-shirt with gray and green stripes, white sneakers and a gray jacket. He had gone straight to the arcade. He knew his friends would be there. He and his two friends greeted each other warmly. Together they started having fun.

Mike sat down in front of the computer game 'Bear Chaser' and started playing it. His selected fighter was a ninja. It took on a large green bear. The fight went well. He almost got the upper hand. To end it with a big victory, he performed an effective move that knocked out the bear with a powerful blow.

The game's screen displayed 'Super Hit'. Which ended the fight with Mike as the fight with Mike as the winner.

"Ah yeah! Ha! That's awesome." Mike's one best friend, a chubby little guy, cheered.

"That's what I call sensing an attack." Mike said cheerfully.

He felt much better now. He really needed this.

His two friends were also happy with his victory. They glanced at each other for a moment. The other friend, a skinny tall guy, nodded to the chubby friend. They then both turned their attention back to Mike. Apparently, something was bothering them too.

"Hey Mike, where have you been anyway?" The chubby friend asked. "You're not at school, you're never home. You didn't even come to graduation."

Mike suddenly felt bad and guilty. He hadn't been in touch with his two best friends since the calling. He should have known they would ask about it. Especially now that he had suddenly shown up again.

"It's kind of a long story." He said sighing and a little unsure.

He hoped his friends would understand that he didn't want to talk about it. That it was also complicated to explain and maybe even understand.

"Come on, dude, tell us." The tall friend said encouragingly to him.

While sitting, Mike turned his back to the computer game. He sighed deeply.

"How can I explain?" He said thoughtfully, more to himself.

He was looking for a way to explain all this to his friends without revealing that he was the green Samurai Ranger.

Mike got up. He walked out of the arcade with his friends. They went to buy something to eat a little further away. They then took a seat at a table on the square. They started to eat.

Only Mike couldn't eat a bite. He started to play listlessly with his food. With a deep sigh, he started to tell his story to his two friends.

"I joined this great team, but they're all so talented." Mike said dejectedly. "It's intimidating."

He leaned back in his chair, somewhat defeated.

"Oh, come on. Don't swear it." His chubby friend said, trying to cheer him up. "You're the best gamer around. You always read the game's moves, and then you drop some... some creative smack-down on them."

His tall friend smiled broadly. He nodded in agreement. Then he did an underhand high five with the chubby friend.

"I can't sense an attack like Kevin." Mike said frustrated.

"Who's Kevin?" The tall friend asked frowning.

Mike didn't seem to have heard him, as he stared into space.

"I won't go back until I've mastered this technique." He said firmly, rather provoking himself.

His chubby friend turned to his best friend. Meanwhile, he took his drinking cup. He took a sip from the straw.

"I won't let my team down." Mike said more confidently than before.

His chubby friend looked at him with admiration, hearing thupon at declaration.

"I've never seen you this serious before." He said honestly and in awe to Mike.

"Oh, it takes some getting used to, but protecting the entire world from evil is a big deal." Mike said.

"Protecting the world from evil? Well, what video game's that?" The tall friend asked curiously, thinking it was about a video game.

Mike looked at both his friends in somewhat disbelief. He should have known that it was a bad idea. He let out a deep sigh as he leaned his head back. He should have known that they would see his fight against the Nighlok and Moogers more as a video game. He could curse himself. He could perhaps vent to his friends. None of them understood his struggle. They never would. They were ignorant of the world filled with monsters that wanted to enter this world. He wished he was just like them and that he could play video games to his heart's content without having to worry about Nighloks and Moogers. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible. He now had to fight these monsters as the green Samurai Ranger.

~A little further away~

Not far from where Mike and his two friends were sitting, a grout between the tiles began to glow red. The glow slid along some tile joints, looking for a suitable victim to scare the living daylights out of.

The glow came to a halt. It stopped just beneath a chair, where an unsuspecting victim was sitting.

The Nighlok, Rofer, rose fists first from the glow under the chair. He grabbed a chair leg with his fist. He held it above his head, while the victim was still sitting in that chair.

"Hold on to your seats. This is gonna get wild." Rofer teased, as soon as he had fully emerged.

The people around the Nighlok panicked. They ran away screaming.

The victim – who was still sitting in the chair above Rofer's head – screamed in fear. Especially now, that it was being held so high above the ground by a large monstrous creature.

Rofer looked around. He was clearly enjoying the panic and chaos around him. He then threw the chair and its occupant onto the ground.

Miraculously, Rofer then stretched both his arms out towards the fleeing crowd. They became longer than they normally were.

"Care for some punch?" The Nighlok asked mockingly, hitting a fleeing person from a long distance. "This'll really grab ya."

With his other extended arm, he was able to grab another fleeing person. He brought his prisoner closer to him, when he retracted his arm. It returned to its normal length. He laughed cruelly.

"What is that?" the chubby friend asked in shock, when he and his friends saw the hideous monster and the chaos that broke out due to the panic.

Mike jumped up from his chair. He wanted to run up to the monster and morph into the green Samurai Ranger to fight it. But that wasn't possible. His friends were there and if he were to morph now, they would find out he was a Samurai Ranger. He had already taken several stumbling steps forward.

"Nighlok." He replied urgently, seeing the Nighlok attacking people.

"Nigh-what?" The tall friend asked startled.

"The monsters I was telling you about." Mike said quickly.

His two friends hurried out of their chairs. They were about to flee.

"Let's get out of here!" The chubby friend cried out in panic.

The two friends started to run away from their table. They had only taken a few steps when they noticed that Mike wasn't following them. They turned back to their friend. Much to their shock, Mike was running towards the monster.

"I'll be right back." Mike said over his shoulder as he ran towards the Nighlok.

"Mike!" The tall friend exclaimed in shock and worry, as they saw their best friend running straight towards the danger.

"If you like rap, you'll love this move." The Nighlok said loudly, as he began to extend his arm abnormally again to grab another victim.

As Mike ran through the chaos to the Nighlok, he said determinedly: "I'm gonna take care of this guy alone."

Behind him, his friends had already given up on the idea of running away. They had turned their table over and had taken cover behind it.

"Mike!" Both friends shouted fearful for the safety of their best friend, as he got closer and closer to the horrible monsters.

The Nighlok noticed Mike and said viciously: "You're running the wrong way!"

The two friends had noticed that the monster had noticed Mike and that it now turned its attention to him. They left the safety of their overturned table to run after Mike.

"Get back!" Rofer said menacingly, spitting something from his mouth, which flew straight at the two friends.

Whatever it was, it landed right in front of the two friends. It exploded on impact. The force of the blast knocked the two friends off their feet. They landed hard on the ground, causing serious injuries.

Mike didn't seem to really notice what happening behind him with his two best friends. He just kept running straight towards the Nighlok.

"I know I can do this." Mike said encouragingly, as he kept running.

He pulled his Samuraizer out of his pocket and held it up in front of him.

"Samuraizer!" He said fiercely and determinedly, flipping his Samuraizer open. "Go, go, Samurai! Ha!"

As he ran Mike wrote the symbol '' in front of him. With a sharp flick of his wrist, he activated the symbol to morph.

In a flash of green light, Mike had morphed into the green Samurai Ranger.

"You're through here, Nighlok." Mike said menacingly swinging his sword at the Nighlok once he got closer.

A fight broke out between the Nighlok, Rofer, and the green Samurai Ranger.

Rofer was able to knock the swinging sword away with one of his large fists. He raised his other fist.

"Oh yeah! I won't be till I clobber you." The Nighlok said mockingly, as he tried to knock the green Samurai Ranger down with his raised fist.

Mike dodged the fist by ducking. He rolled on the ground for a moment. That's how he ended up on the other side of the Nighlok. Then he could resume his attack from this side.

When he was on the other side, Mike had also gotten a little closer to the Nighlok. When he got back up, he tried to stab the monster. However, this attack was repelled by a large fist. He didn't give up. He attacked again. He slashed twice at the Nighlok, hoping that it would land a blow.

Rofer deflected the first blow with one fist. He then deflected the next blow with his other fist.

Mike held his sword against this fist of the Nighlok, as it tried to push it down. Holding his sword against that enormous fist, he turned his back to the monster and threw another arm over the fist. This way he tried to stop the monster from using its huge fist. To make sure it couldn't use its fists against him or other people around him.

"Hey, if you want to hold my hand, try buying me some flowers first, you broccoli-colored bum!" Rofer said with mock indignation, but also teasing as it tried to teach the green Samurai Ranger some manners so to speak.

Mike threw his arms up with the Nighlok's fist, causing the creature to take a few steps back to keep its balance. He had to let go of the fist. He then turned back to the Nighlok. He gave it a hard kick in the stomach.

The kick caused Rofer to stumble back a little. Away from the green Samurai Ranger.

Mike came after the Nighlok. He swung two horizontal slashes with his sword. The first was from the right to the left. The next one was from the opposite direction. He was able to hit the Nighlok with these two strikes.

"How about I buy you a one-way ticket back to-" Mike began as he charged at the retreating Nighlok.

Suddenly, he received a hard punch in the face. He let out a yelp of pain and shock. The hard blow sent him flying backwards through the air. He ended up sprawled on his stomach on the ground a few meters away. He was surprised at what just had happened.

"What? What just happened?" He asked surprised.

He briefly brought his free hand to his helmet. He placed it on the spot where he had received the hard blow. He started to scramble to his feet.

The Nighlok laughed evilly and said: "I just served you a knuckle sandwich."

And that was true. The Nighlok had just given the green Samurai Ranger a hard uppercut with his right fist.

"You still hungry? 'Cause here comes a second helping!" The Nighlok said viciously, before doing something strange.

Rofer slammed his fist on the ground. But the strangest thing was, his fist didn't hit the ground. It was completely stuck in the ground.

Mike had gotten back up. He looked at what the Nighlok was doing, incomprehensibly. If he hadn't been morphed and wasn't wearing his helmet, his frown would have been visible.

"Second helping? What's mean?" He asked, uncomprehending.

Suddenly, he heard something completely unexpected. He heard the ground shift underneath him. He looked down. The ground began to slightly crack at his feet.

Suddenly, a monstrous fist shot out of the ground. It hit Mike hard again. This time he was hit in the chin. The force of the blow knocked him back off his feet. He landed hard against one of the several trees scattered throughout the square. He then landed on his back on the ground.

"I'm as cool as an Iceberg but I sting like a bee. It's tough to stop what you can't see." Rofer said, his fist still in the ground.

In the ground, the Nighlok's clenched fist made its way to hit its target. Thanks to the trick and extendable arms, the Nighlok could surprise its victims with an unexpected attack wherever they were.

Mike slowly scrambled to his feet. His whole body ached from crashing into a tree and falling hard to the ground twice.

"How's he going t... Ugh!" He began before he was hit again hard in the face by the Nighlok's fist, which suddenly shot out of the ground again.

Mike then fell back to the ground again with a groan.

The Nighlok's fist retreated back into the hole in the ground. It lay in wait again to suddenly attack the green Samurai Ranger again, when he didn't expected to be attacked again.

When Mike was completely flat on his stomach, he managed to dodge the next attack. He just pulled his head away, when the Nighlok's fist shot out of the ground. Right where his head was just now. He quickly scrambled back up, when the fist retreated back into the ground.

Rofer's fist then shot back from one hole. It then entered the hole it just made.

Mike backed away suspiciously. Away from the arc which the long arm had formed. He received another hard punch in the face. This time the fist came a little more from the side. From his right. The impact caused him to fall back onto the ground again, rolling.

Rofer withdrew his arm completely.

"When it comes to my fists, you're all thumbs." The Nighlok said unimpressed.

"You're calling me all thumbs?" Mike asked offended, as he scrambled back to his feet.

Mike decided to retreat to higher ground. As soon as he got to his feet, he jumped to the flat roof of a nearby building. Thanks to the amazing powers of being morphed into the green Samurai Ranger, he was able to jump such heights and distances. He hoped the Nighlok's fist wouldn't be able to hit him anymore. Especially now that he was on higher ground. Except he had no idea how wrong he was.

Rofer watched the green Samurai Ranger make the high jump and land on the flat roof of a building. In an attempt to create more distance between them and that his surprise attacks would no longer work. The monster found that quite hilarious.

"Hey, tired of my underground fight club trick? Then I better take it to new heights." Rofer said determinedly, seeing this as a challenge.

For the second time, the Nighlok drove his fist into the ground. As his fist dug its way underground, his arm lengthened. The fist came out of the ground a few meters further. The fist shot up the side of the building. Straight at Mike.

"You can't reach me up-" Mike began, as he turned towards the edge of the building.

Suddenly, the Nighlok's fist came over the edge. It first rammed Mike head-on in the face, before whacking him twice more. These two blows were given to each side of his head.

Mike let out a startled scream as he was suddenly hit head-on by the Nighlok's fist, while standing on top of a building. He then let out another scream as both sides of his head were hit. With all the blows he received, he fell off the building with a scream. He landed on the ground floor with a groan. There he remained laying on his back. He didn't attempt to get up. Or he just couldn't.

"I may be down, but I'm not out." Mike proclaimed stubbornly, but groaned at the Nighlok.

Rofer laughed mockingly and said: "Now all that's left to do is putting you in the dumpster. Oh yeah!"

The Nighlok was thrilled with his victory over the green Samurai Ranger. He raised his fist to further ensure his victory.

"That's enough!" A voice suddenly commanded sternly.

The Nighlok looked surprised at where the voice came from.

Morphed as the red Samurai Ranger, Jayden leapt between Mike and the Nighlok. In his jump, he made a horizontal slash from the left to the right. He attacked the monster without mercy.

"You're worn out your welcome." Jayden said as he drove the Nighlok away from Mike.

The Nighlok stumbled, as he was driven away and from the blows he received from the red Samurai Ranger. He even fell onto the ground. He rolled over the plain and quickly got back up.

"Arm Stretch!" Rofer said, slamming his fist into the ground.

His fist raced underground towards its target at lightning speed. It resurfaced near Jayden's feet. It shot straight up. It hit the red Samurai Ranger right in the face. Even though he had taken a step back.

Jayden was startled by the hard blow he received in the face. He even stumbled back a few steps.

"Jayden!" Mike exclaimed in shock.

Jayden eventually fell to the ground. He rolled until he landed near Mike's friends. As the red Samurai Ranger struggled to get back to feat, the Nighlok stood by and watched.

"Even the red Ranger can't see what's going on underground." Rofer said into the blue Samurai Ranger, the pink Samurai Ranger and the yellow Samurai Ranger, Kevin, Mia, and Emily came to Jayden's aid.

Kevin went over to help Jayden up.

Mia and Emily went to Mike's two downed friends to see if they could help them.

"Oh, wow. Are you guys okay?" Mia asked worried.

Yoni was also there. Except she stood at a safe distance, as Jayden had instructed her. She observed the ugly monster intently. She thought that this Nighlok to be very boastful. She also noticed that he talked a lot about his fists. His fists and stretchy arms were his strengths and weapons. But she could also see his weakness in there. She wondered if the Samurai Rangers saw it too. She couldn't help but make a painful face when she saw that Jayden had taken a hard punch to the face. She was glad that he had gotten back up with Kevin's help.

"Sure. Now let's take this creep." Jayden replied firmly, once he got back up with Kevin's help.

He held his sword at the ready. He was ready to take on this Nighlok.

Rofer himself was more than ready to give the other four Samurai Rangers a good beating. Except something went wrong. He suddenly felt weak. He even started to dehydrate.

"Uh-oh, it feels like I'm starting to dry up. Guess I'd better punch out for now." The Nighlok said, as his body began to become dull and seem to crack from dehydration. "Later, Rangers."

And then he disappeared again through a narrow red-lit passage underneath a wooden bench.

~Back at the Shiba House~

Once the Nighlok was gone, the remaining Samurai Rangers ensured that the victims received the necessary help. Afterwards, they returned to the Shiba House together with Mike and Yoni.

Once they all reached the house, the five Samurai Rangers demorphed.

Inside the house, Jyaden and Kevin helped Mike to one of the couches in the living room.

Meanwhile, Mia, Emily, and Yoni went to both the infirmary and the kitchen to get everything they needed to take care of Mike.

Ji had come and joined them.

Mia, Emily, and Yoni entered the living room with everything needed to treat Mike.

As soon as he had taken off his T-shirt and jacket, Mia and Emily started tending to Mike.

Yoni sat down on another couch, which was a little further away.

Jayden and Kevin went to stand with Ji. They watched Mike being tended to by Mia and Emily.

"Thank goodness you were there. You prevented that Nighlok from injuring lots of people." Ji said relieved.

Mia and Emily were busy tending to Mike's back and chest injuries.

"We came as soon as we heard." Jayden said.

Mia and Emily applied a bandage around Mike's chest.

Mike shook both girls off when they were done.

Yoni could see from Mike's face that he felt uncomfortable and also disappointed in himself for not being able to defeat the Nighlok on his own. She knew that facing this Nighlok alone would be nearly impossible. This Nighlok used brutal force with his huge fists. He also used them in all sorts of ways to surprise and fight his enemies.

"I thought I could take him alone." Mike said disappointed.

"That was brave of you, but imagine what could have happened." Kevin said disciplined.

Mike took a deep breath and said: "I know."

"Mike." Jayden said calmly, as he approached Mike and took a seat on the couch next to him. "Being a Samurai is the ultimate sacrifice. Since we're fighting evil, you must stay away from your family and friends in order to keep them safe."

Mike listened attentively to Jayden, while putting on his T-shirt.

"I realize that now, but I at least got to go check on my friends." Mike said to Jayden as he stood up with his jacket in hand.

He walked past Jayden and the coffee table. He then walked through Kevin and Ji.

"Mike." Ji said as the green Samurai Ranger descended the steps and disappeared through the double black door.

Ji turned to Jayden, questioning and concerned, who just nodded.

"Where is Mike going?" Kevin asked, frowning.

"He's going to check on his friends." Jayden replied calmly.

"Why? He could endanger them again if that Nighlok comes back!" Kevin said outraged.

Yoni frowned at him and said: "What's your problem with Mike checking on his friends again? He'll make sure nothing happens to them."

"Nothing would happen? They just got hurt in the Nighlok attack." Kevin said fiercely to her.

Yoni gave Kevin an annoyed look. She rose from her seat. She hated that he didn't think further about what had happened to Mike's friends. She also didn't think Mike would have wanted his two friends to get hurt in this Nighlok attack. She believed that Mike and his friends were just in the wrong place at the wrong time during this attack.

Kevin took a step towards Yoni. He got a little too close to her, causing her to take a step back. In order to still have enough distance between them.

"I know that you're still new to the life of a Samurai and that you aren't a Ranger like us. Only you need to know that as long as we're fighting these monsters, we aren't allowed to have any contact with our families and friends." Kevin explained to her as well as he could.

All Yoni did was raise an eyebrow. Which he saw and opened his mouth to say something, but she was faster.

"Wow, that sounds very depressing and demoralizing to me." She said slowly. "On the one hand, I can understand that you want to protect them and keep them at a safe distance from this evil. Honestly, I would do the same for my friends and family. Especially for Harry. On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt to have some contact with them. Trust me, your families may know about this, but your friends don't. They will be worried and suspicious about your sudden disappearance. They would definitely have questions.'

With that being said, she left the living room. She immediately walked back to her room.

Fellan reappeared when Ji and the four other Samurai Rangers were no longer in sight. He looked proudly at his Holder.

Yoni left a stunned Kevin behind.

Jayden was smiling. He even looked proud.

Mia and Emily looked interested and impressed.

Ji looked at Yoni thoughtfully about what she had just said. She had made the gears in his head turn.

~With Mike~

Mike had returned to the city. He had gone straight back to the arcade, where he had just been with his friends before the Nighlok attack. He knew he would find them there. Even though they had just gotten hurt. And he did find them there. He didn't go inside the arcade. He remained outside on the other side of the street. He looked into the arcade through a large window. Inside, he saw his two friends having fun playing the many different computer games that were offered. Despite their injuries. He looked at them with longing and dismay, as they gamed to their heart's content. He really wanted to go inside, join them, and have fun together. Except that wasn't possible. Not at the moment.

'I won't be able to hang out with you guys for a long time.' Mike thought gloomly, as he mentally said goodbye to his friends. 'But it's for your own good.'

Mike watched for a moment before he started to walk away. He glanced over his shoulder at the arcade once more, as he walked further away. He then turned away from the arcade – turned his back to it. He then continued on walking. The distance between him and the arcade with his friends grew larger and larger.

~Back in the Netherworld~

Rofer had returned to the Netherworld. He was almost completely dehydrated by the time he got back. To get hydrated again, he took a dip in the poisonous waters of the Sanzu River. He sighed deeply in relief. A dive like that really did him good. He felt his strength and evil growing back. He seemed to have just been reborn.

"The water replenished my evil." Rofer said with a relieved sigh.

Ocotoroo stood at the railing of the boat. He stuck a long stick into the water to measure the water level. He wanted to see whether Rofer had managed to raise the water a little.

"Ooh-ah-ooh, the river level's gone up." Octoroo announced excitedly. "By scaring up the human world, Rofer's got their tear ducts flowing."

Master Xandred loomed behind Octoroo.

"That's good." He said satisfied and very unexpectedly, startling Octoroo.

Seeing Master Xandred stand there, Rofer said: "I was dried out but after a nice soak in the Sanzu River, I'm gonna go pound those Samurai Rangers into chopped liver."

He swam back to the boat. He climbed back on board.

"With your frightening fists fully functional, you'll be pestering people in no time. That means our Sanzu River could be flooding the human world soon. This'll be easy peasy!" Octoroo said confidently.

"Those Samurai Rangers won't know what hit 'em!" Rofer said promisingly and menacingly.

He couldn't wait to get back to the human world and scare the humans some more and crush some Samurai Rangers.

~Back with Mike~

It was slowly getting dark. Mike was still wandering around in the city. He finally reached the docks. He stood at the edge and looked out over the water.

"'Mike, being a Samurai is the ultimate sacrifice. Since we're fighting evil, you must stay away from your family and friends in order to keep them safe.'" He heard Jayden echoing in his head.

Mike then bitterly remembered the Nighlok attack from moments ago. He remembered how his friends had been injured in this attack. He gritted his teeth tightly at the thought of his utter defeat against this tough Nighlok.

'I wish I could explain things to my friends. But beating this Nighlok comes first.' He thought dejected.

"There's got to be a way to stop this thing." He said frustrated, thinking about how he could defeat this Nighlok.

Suddenly he got an idea. He looked up. He then walked away from the edge of the dock.

~With Jayden at the Shiba House~

Night had fallen. The full moon stood high in the dark sky.

While waiting for the Nighlok to return, Jayden decided to do some extra training to find a way to defeat this monster. He had put his training clothes back on. He grabbed a wooden practice sword. Instead of using the indoor training room, he left through the double black doors. Once outside, he slowly walked across the wooden terrace. He walked to the edge, standing in front of one of the house's large windows. There he knelt down. He placed his wooden practice sword next to him. His hands rested in his lap. He looked ahead, before closing his eyes.

'If we could only read the enemy's next move...' Jayden thought as he sat meditating.

He sat there quietly for a while. Until he suddenly opened his eyes again. He grabbed his wooden practice sword. He slowly got back up again. He then stepped down from the wooden terrace. He then stepped to the middle of the wooden training floor. He took hold of the hilt of his wooden practice sword with both hands. He held it straight up. He closed his eyes for a second and held this position for a while. It felt like he stood there for hours, before he opened his eyes again. Then he made a diagonal strike from the top right to the bottom left, while taking a step forward.

Jayden suddenly heard footsteps behind him. He relaxed his stance again. He held his wooden practice sword again with one hand. He turned towards the double black doors. Much to his surprise, Yoni came out. He frowned slightly. He thought she already had gone to bed. It looked like she was going out. Which he didn't really want her to do. Especially now that this Nighlok hadn't been defeated and destroyed yet. He watched as she stepped off the wooden terrace and started to head towards the gate. It was as if she hadn't even noticed him.

"Where are you going?" Jayden asked her curiously.

Yoni turned to him and said: "I'm going to look for Mike. Maybe I can help him with something."

Jayden frowned slightly and asked: "Oh, really? And how are you going to do that?"

Yoni pursed her lips and replied: "Coming up with a strategy that best suits Mike as a gamer."

"I didn't know you were a gamer." Jayden said impressed and frowning.

Yoni shrugged and said: "Not a gamer like Mike with video games. I'm more into card games and chess."

She started to walk backwards towards the gate.

"It's good that you want to help Mike, but I'd prefer if you didn't leave right now. Especially at this hour and with that Nighlok possibly showing up again." Jayden awkwardly admitted.

Yoni just grinned and said: "Don't worry, Jayden. Mike will be able to protect me. Besides, I can hold my own too."

Then she went through the gate and disappeared from view.

Jayden watched her for a moment, before trying to resume his training.

~Back with Mike~

Mike had found a long stick he could use as a practice sword. He went to the far end of the dock. It was more deserted there. He was also more out of sight of possible prying eyes. He stopped and looked straight ahead, as he tightened his grip on the stick.

'I have to figure out how to sense a Nighlok's attack before it comes.' He thought determinedly, as he knelt down on one knee.

He put his hands on the ground. He assumed a runner's starting position. He looked ahead determinedly.

'Then I could outsmart him.' He thought further.

He let out a battle cry. He started to sprint. A few meters further away, he made a high jump. In this jump, he made a forward somersault. He landed well on his feet. He then turned around sharply. He held out his arm with the stick horizontally. He then grabbed the stick with both hands. He started with two horizontal strikes. One went from the right to the left. The other strike was in the opposite direction. Then he somersaulted. He quickly got back up. He did a diagonal strike, which was quickly followed by another diagonal strike from the opposite direction. Then he made another jump. He made another diagonal strike with a loud battle cry.

Beads of sweat began to form on Mike's forehead. He then started sprinting across the dock again. Then he made a high jump. He raised his stick with both hands. As soon as his feet landed back on the ground again, he did a vertical strike straight down. He stood there like that for a moment.

Suddenly, there was loud applause.

Mike looked around in surprise to see who was clapping. He was surprised to see Yoni standing there clapping.

"Yoni? What are you doing here?" He asked surprised.

"Looking for you, of course." Yoni replied lightly, as she came closer.

"Well, you found me." He said, smiling. "So what did you need me for?"

"I came to see if I could perhaps help you come up with a possible strategy to defeat this Nighlok. A strategy that would suit your style more as a gamer." She said, shrugging.

Mike looked at her in surprise. He blinked a few times, startled. He hadn't expected her to come and help him come up with a strategy that would suit him better than the other Samurai Rangers.

"Really? Wow, that's great!" He said enthusiastically with a toothy grin. "I didn't know you strategized."

Yoni shrugged her shoulders modestly and said: "What can I say? I'm a strategist and I love strategic card games and chess. I've a plan for almost everything and a few backup plans for it. I'd really love to help you devise a strategy to defeat this arrogant Nighlok."

Mike grinned broadly hearing that.

"Alright, let's get started." He said eagerly. "Bring it on that strategy."

Yoni smiled broadly seeing his eagerness.

Together they got to work on developing the right strategy that would suit Mike's style better and give the Nighlok a taste of its own medicine. They even went over the Nighlok's strengths and weaknesses. They both agreed that the Nighlok's large fists and stretchy arms were clearly his strengths, along with his arrogance as he went about provoking and distracting people.

According to Mike, the Nighlok had no weaknesses, but Yoni claimed the monster had them.

Yoni explained to Mike why she believed that. She said that if someone relied too much on their strengths, they would also become their weaknesses.

So Mike and Yoni spent most of the night coming up with a good strategy to take out Rofer's fists and arms.

~The next day~

A new day soon dawned. The day started well, until it was abruptly interrupted by a bone-chilling scream. It echoed through the city.

Rofer had returned to the city from the Netherworld. He had returned to frighten even more people and to destroy the Samurai Rangers. Then they could no longer stop the Nighloks from frightening the people and safely sailing into the human world on the poisonous waters of the Sanzu River, as soon as it overflowed its banks. He was a Nighlok on a mission. He enjoyed the screams around him of the frightened people. He loved hearing their terrified screams just by his mere presence alone. Well, the screams would get even louder, when he started using his vicious fists. This time he wasn't alone. He had brought a horde of Moogers with him. That way he could spread even more fear. Which he loved, of course. He already let his Moogers cause some chaos and scare the hell out of people.

"Run!" Someone shouted in fear.

"What's going on?" Someone else shouted startled. Rofer walked through the chaos of scared people fleeing and his Moogers. He enjoyed it immensely. He decided to join in on the fun as well.

"Ah, yes. You think you can run away, but I got ya." The Nighlok said laughing, as he stretched his arms out.

With his outstretched arms, he circled some people, who were being chased in his direction by his Moogers. He held them captive in his arms, as he shortened his outstretched arms. By doing this, he brought the captive people closer to him. He held them tightly against him.

"Believe me, you're better off dealing with me than Master Xandred." Rofer said laughing at the struggling people in his arms. "Come on, group hug. Yeah! What fun."

Because they were pressed so tightly against each other and the Nighlok, they all fell over onto the ground.

"Hey Nighlok!" Someone called out defiantly behind Rofer.

Rofer turned around, startled, and saw who had joined them.

Jayden stood with Kevin, Mia, and Emily a little further away from the Nighlok and his Moogers. They looked determined at them.

"Huh! Punching bag, you're back." Rofer said teasingly and eagerly, knowing that these four were the Power Rangers.

Jayden pulled out his Samuraizer and said: "Samuraizer!"

He flipped open his Samuraizer. The other three quickly followed suit.

"Go, go Samurai!" All four shouted in unison.

All four wrote their symbols in front of them in their own color.

Jayden wrote the symbol '' in front of him.

Kevin wrote the '' symbol.

For Mia, the symbol '' appeared before her.

And in Emily's case the symbol '' was written.

The four symbols were turned over by a sharp arm movement. They were bathed in the glow of their respective color, as they morphed for battle.

The glow faded away when the transformation was complete and they had successfully morphed. All four had taken their black Power Disk. They slid it over the hilt of their sword until it clicked into place. They then took their sword from their left hip. They then each assumed a stance.

Jayden's spine was straight. He held his sword pointed upward. He rested the non-sharp side of the blade against his shoulder.

Kevin stood with his legs spread apart. He held his sword vertically upwards. Then he held his other hand spread open near his covered face.

Mia stood tall with her legs together. She held her sword diagonally up with the tip pointed to the right. She gripped the hilt with both hands. She looked diagonally up to the right.

Emily also stood upright with her legs together. She held her sword diagonally up to the left. She rested the non-sharp side of her sword against her other hand.

"Samurai Ranger ready." They all four said, when they were successfully morphed.

Then all four changed their stance again. They then rotated their wrist with the sword. They then placed the non-sharp side of it on the other wrist as they brought it up. Then they removed this arm again. They then took hold of the hilt of their sword with both hands. They raised their sword above their heads. Then they brought it back down again.

"Rangers together! Hiya! Samurai foverer!" They all four proclaimed together.

Then they each took a completely different stance.

Jayden stood tall. His spine was straight. His feet were together. He held his arm up, sword in hand.

The tip of his sword pointed diagonally towards the sky. His other hand was on his side.

Kevin was slightly bent at the knees. His one foot was slightly more forward than the other. His sword was held horizontally in front of him. He gripped the hilt with both hands.

Mai was down on one knee on the ground. She rested the non-sharp side of her sword against her shoulder.

Emily was also down on one knee on the ground. Just like Mia. She held her sword diagonally upward. She rested the non-sharp side of her sword on her flat hand.

"Hey! Where's your green Ranger buddy? Now that it's crunch time, broccoli boy went bye-bye?" The Nighlok asked teasingly, noticing that the green Samurai Ranger wasn't with them.

Because the monsters were distracted, the people could silently flee from this place.

The four Samurai Rangers were silent. They had come out of their different stances. They had no idea where Mike was. Only Yoni knew where he was now, but she hadn't come back last night.

Jayden was starting to get worried about her.

"Hey!" They heard Mike call from behind them. "You looking for me?"

The four Samurai Rangers turned around. They saw Mike sprinting towards them. They saw Yoni standing a little further away.

When Mike got closer, he jumped up. He somersaulted between Jayden and Kevin. He landed on the ground. He then did a few tumbles over the ground. Then he got up. He looked determined and self-motivated ahead of him. At the Nighlok.

The four Samurai Rangers were relieved that Mike was there. Also that Yoni was with him and not lost somewhere in the city, still looking for Mike.

"Mike! You're back!" Emily said excitedly, happy to see him again as she took a few steps towards him.

"Look out. I'm gonna take this Nighlok alone." Mike said determined and fiercely, causing Emily to stop short.

"You can't." Kevin said shocked when he heard that.

Yoni had come a little closer. She snorted unlady-like when she heard that.

"Wow, what a confidence." She said sarcastically, as she rolled her eyes.

"I'm gonna try." Mike said determinedly.

He pulled out his Samuraizer and said: "It's payback time. Samuraizer! Go, go Samurai!"

He then wrote the symbol '' in front of him. With a sharp flick of his wrist, the symbol turned. He was then bathed in a green glow as he morphed. The glow faded away again, as he morphed into the green Samurai Ranger. He slid his black Power DIsk over the hilt of his sword until it clicked into place.

"Samurai Ranger ready." He said, as he raised his sword.

"Attack, Moogers! Go get your daily greens." Rofer commanded the Moogers.

At the command, the Moogers charged at the Samurai Rangers.

Mike took out his sword. He let it rest with the non-sharp side against his shoulder. Then he held it at the ready as he began charging at the Moogers.

"I got some new moves to go with my Samurai groove." He said as he ran straight into the incoming Moogers.

He managed to deflect an enemy sword away from him with his sword. Then he slashed several Moogers away with his sword. He jumped while turning. When he landed back on the ground, he did a one-handed tumble. He just managed to get up when he swung his sword at an enemy sword, while he was still kneeling on one knee.

Jayden, Kevin, Mia, and Emily watched Mike fight the Moogers by himself.

"Mike, what are you doing?" Kevin shouted alarmed at the green Samurai Ranger.

Only he didn't seem to hear him.

"Come on, let's help him." Jayden said to the others.

"Right." Mia said, nodding.

"You got it." Kevin agreed.

"Yeah!" Emily said determinedly.

Together they ran towards the Moogers, while Yoni remained where he was.

The four Samurai Rangers fought their way towards Mike.

While battling some Moogers, Jayden rubbed the Power Disk on his sword. The Disk began to spin rapidly. It glowed red. The blade was then enveloped in orange flames. He raised his burning sword.

"Spin sword, Fire Smasher!" He said.

He made a circle just above his head with his sword. He then lowered his sword slightly. He gripped the hilt with both hands. He had taken a wide stance. Now he held his sword more horizontally next to his body. He then made a horizontal strike from the left to the right.

The slash caused a group of Moogers to be engulfed in flames.

Kevin held up his sword. He rubbed his Power Disk. It started to spin very quickly. It took on a blue glow. The sword was enveloped in a whirlpool of water.

"Spin sword, Dragon Splash!" He said, now holding the hilt with both hands.

He also made a horizontal strike, just like Jayden did. Also from the left to the right.

This slash sent a wave of water into the Moogers' faces.

Mia followed suit. She held her sword straight up. She rubbed her black Power Disk, causing it to spin quickly. It glowed pink together with the sword. In the glow surrounding the blade, there was a tornado. She made a circle clockwise in front of her. She then made a diagonal strike from the bottom to the top.

"Spin sword, Airway!" She said, sending her attack towards the Moogers.

The strong gust of wind caused the Moogers to lose their balance. They all fell backwards.

Emily closely followed suit, holding up her sword and rubbing the black Power Disk. The Disk and her sword took on a yellow glow. Around the blade, there was a vortex of small rocks. She gripped the hilt with both hands as she raised her sword above her head.

"Spin sword, Seismic Swing!" She said, swinging her sword down in a vertical strike.

Her attack caused the ground beneath the Moogers' feet to shake heavily. Like a major earthquake. This caused another group of Moogers to go down.

The Moogers couldn't recover from these attacks or attack the Samurai Rangers themselves. Another attack was coming their way.

Jayden exchanged his black Power Disk with another black Disk. However, this Disk was completely different from the regular black Power Disk. This Disk had blue lightning bolts depicted on it. As soon as this Disk was locked into place on the sword, he rubbed it. Because it was spinning so fast, it started to generate lightning. This caused the entire sword to be enveloped in flashing and cracking lightning. He first brought his sword up above his head. He then grabbed the hilt with both hands. He then did a horizontal slash from the left to the right.

"Spin sword, Lightning Fury!" He said, as he shot lightning at the Moogers.

This attack left the Moogers paralyzed by the massive shock, knocking them all down.

Rofer and Mike were now engaged in battle for the second time. He tried to punch the green Samurai Ranger down, when he was down on one knee on the ground.

Mike dodged the punch by pulling away. He quickly got up. He swung a horizontal blow. Only it bounced off the monster's fist.

"You're about to develop a bad case of fist-aphobia, Ranger!" The Nighlok said mockingly during their fight.

Mike managed to deflect a fist with his sword. Only he received two blows to the chest. He leaned forward slightly due to the pain he was feeling there. Now he was vulnerable to the Nighlok. And the monster took advantage of that. He got another blow in the stomach. This blow was so hard that it knocked him off his feet. He flew away some distance with a startled shout. He landed with a thud on the ground. He immediately scrambled back to his feet.

Yoni saw this. She couldn't help but make a painful face. She crept closer to where Mike was now to get into position to be able to carry out their plan.

Rofer had gone after Mike, who had flown away from his powerful punch.

"Did you have a nice flight?" The Nighlok asked viciously, as he stood at a distance from the green Samurai Ranger.

"Bring it on, long arms!" Mike shouted back defiantly, beckoning the Nighlok with his hand.

"You? Asking for it?" The monster asked alarmed. "Arm Stretch!"

Mike quickly turned around. He knelt down to take the starting position.

"So, go for it!" He shouted defiantly to the monster as he did so.

The Nighlok held up both fists. He growled in annoyance when he noticed that this Samurai Ranger wasn't by this attack like the day before. He slammed both his fists into the ground for a surprise attack on the Samurai Ranger.

'Anticipate his next move.' Mike thought, remembering his training from the night before.

"Now!" He suddenly said to himself, as he started to run.

A fist punched out of the ground where he had been just a moment ago. The other fist came out of the ground a little further. It also missed its mark. Both fists started the chase, as Mike sprinted away. Thanks to the Nighlok's extendable arms.

"Your arms aren't fast enough to get me, are they?" Mike called mockingly over his shoulder to the Nighlok.

"So your strategy is running away? As if that'd work." Rofer said disdainfully.

"Looks like it's working so far!" Mike said, running, as the fists shot out of the ground right behind him or next to him and slammed back into the ground.

Suddenly he saw a car coming straight at him. He couldn't dodge it sideways. So he jumped up. He somersaulted over the car. He landed back on both feet on the ground. He continued his sprint. Behind him, the car was hit by an unexpected fist, sending it crashing to the ground. He continued to run away from the Nighlok and his underground fists.

Rofer saw the green Samurai Ranger run around the corner and said menacingly: "You should never play in traffic. But go ahead and run. You can't hide from my long-distance fists. It's just a matter of time before I clock ya!"

Everywhere Mike ran, was smashed to pieces by the fists as they came above and below ground. He kept dodging them. He zigzagged between pillars to avoid the fists. As he ran along, the pillars, the Nighlok's long arms slowly became entangled.

"Your attack's losing its punch. All you're doing is wrecking some concrete!" He shouted mockingly.

Mike had run all the way around to return right behind the Nighlok.

"Nighlok!" He shouted, getting the monster's attention.

The Nighlok turned around, startled, and said indignantly: "Hey!"

"Did you miss me?" Mike asked defiantly.

He held the unsharp side of his sword against his shoulder.

"Maybe, but I won't miss you this time." Rofer said darkly and mischievously.

Suddenly a fist emerged from the ground. The fist shot straight at Mike.

Mike was startled when that happened. He immediately assumed the stance to defend himself.

Suddenly, Jayden appeared in a flash between Mike and the fist. He blocked the fist with his sword.

"I got it!" He said.

"Jayden!" Mike said startled.

"So he stopped one punch, but I've got two arms!" Rofer said unimpressed.

Jayden managed to push one fist away. Then the second fist just emerged from the ground. It hit him in the gut. It pushed him right into a pillar – which was further behind him. He still managed to stab the fist with his sword.

When this happened, Mike managed to duck out of the way just in time.

Yoni had abandoned her hiding place. She slowly came closer. This way she was ready to help Mike if necessary. She noted that Mike had noticed her. They nodded to each other.

"Jayden, are you okay?" Mike asked worried, as he quickly got back up. "I'll take him out!"

Suddenly, the other fist came towards him. It caused him to run straight at the Nighlok.

The fist first crashed where Mike had just been standing. Then it shot out of the ground again. It then came back at him, as he ran towards the Nighlok.

Mike grabbed the Nighlok and somersaulted over him. He kept his grip on the monster as he landed behind him.

This shocked the Nighlok greatly.

"Hey, what kind of move was that?" Rofer asked in surprise, before being hit right in the face by his own fist – which shot up out of the ground at his feet.

The Nighlok moaned in pain.

"Kind of tricky, wasn't it?" Mike asked, laughing and mocking.

Yoni laughed loudly and said: "Good job, Mike."

Rofer came back to his senses. He glared venomously at the green Samurai Ranger.

"Once I real my arms back in, you're gonna be toast. Both of you." He threatened menacingly to both Mike and Yoni.

He tried to pull his arms back in. Only that didn't work. Something was wrong. It seemed like they were stuck. By pulling them back in, he started to make some cracks and fissures in the concrete.

"Huh, what's up with my arms? They're all tangled up." Rofer said surprised.

This made Yoni laugh even more. Their plan had worked.

Jayden was able to step away from the pillar again, when the fist - that held him there – tried to pull back. He saw how the long arms had become entangled with each other, concrete pillars and buildings. He was impressed that Mike had managed to take out the Nighlok's weapon, his fists, and extendable arms, in a cunning way. He was surprised that Yoni had a hand in devising this strategy.

"Time to give you a taste of my Spin sword." Mike promised.

He took his green Power Disk. He clicked it onto his sword, where his black Power Disk had been. He rubbed this Power Disk, causing it to spin quickly, lightning up in a green glow. Around the blade, there was a tornado of leaves.

"Spin sword, Forest Vortex!" He said.

He gripped the hilt with both hands. He held his sword horizontally at the ready. A vortex of leaves formed around him. He ran towards the Nighlok with a battle cry.

"If I could get my hands on you..." Roger began menacingly, before being knocked down with a horizontal strike.

"But you didn't." Yoni said cockily, as the monster fell to his knees.

The Nighlok exploded in an orange fireball behind Mike and Yoni.

"How does that grab you?" Mike said laughing and relieved.

"Very much." Yoni agreed as she and Mike high-fived each other.

Kevin, Mia, and Emily quickly came over.

"You were amazing!" Emily eagerly said to them. "Both of you! So great!"

Both Mike and Yoni became shy at her compliment.

Kevin crossed his arms. He slowly walked past them.

"I guess you did okay." He said slowly.

"Hey!" Mike said offended, as he smacked Kevin on the back with the flat of his sword.

Kevin turned towards Mike. He was about to lash out at Mike, but Mia intervened.

"Lighten up, Kevin." Mia said, stopping Kevin from saying anything else to Mike. "After all, Mike did defeat that Nighlok. Together with Yoni."

She was proud of Mike and Yoni for defeating the Nighlok together.

"Yeah." Mike said fiercely.

"Nice job." Mia said proudly and impressed to Mike and Yoni.

"Thanks." Mike and Yoni said gratefully.

Jayden came over and said: "Time for round two. He's coming back as a Mega-Monster."

Behind them, a gigantic Rofer rose from the flames.

"Oh, come on! Why can't he just stay down? Is he really that desperate to beat you guys that he's coming back?" Yoni asked the Samurai Rangers annoyed.

Mike looked up at the Mega Monster. He stretched his muscles.

"Let me try and take this knucklehead myself." He said pulling out his folded-up FoldingZord along with his Samuraizer.

He threw his Spin sword up. It turned into a Mega Blade and hovered there. He then knelt down. He put his Zord on the ground. He wrote the symbol '' over it to morph into Mega Mode.

"Bear FoldingZord." He said as he wrote the symbol.

He then stood back up again and said: "Mega Mode Power!"

He was engulfed in a green glow. When it died down, he was morphed into Mega Mode. He stood with his feet spread apart. His knees were slightly bent. He held one arm up at an angle. He held the other arm down at an angle. He jumped up. He took his Mega Blade from the sky. He teleported into his Zord's cockpit. There he folded his Mega Blade. He inserted it into his Zord's control system. And he clicked his black Power Disk slightly lower on the control system.

"Alright, let's do this!" Mike said confidently.

His Bear FoldingZord growled in agreement charging at the Nighlok.

"Your bear's not worth my spit!" Rofer said disdainfully.

The Nighlok spat something at the Zord. Except it didn't hit the Zord. It landed next to it.

"You'll never hurt my friends again." Mike said fiercely. "Time to go into mauling mode."

He pushed his folded Mega Blade forward into the control system. His Zord stood on its hind legs and attacked with its forelegs. It then started to scratch the Nighlok mercilessly.

The other Samurai Rangers and Yoni watched Mike attack the Nighlok with his MegaZord.

"Aw, he shouldn't be doing this on his own." Kevin said frustrated.

Yoni looked at him in annoyance.

"Come on, let's help him!" Jayden immediately said.

He ran forward. He was closely followed by Mia and Emily.

"Wait for me." Kevin said alarmed, as he stumbled after them to morph into Mega Mode.

All four took their Samuraizer and their Zords in hand. They threw their Spin swords up. There they turned into Mega Blades. They then hovered above their heads. They then each wrote the symbol '超' over their Zords with their Samuraizer, kneeling down close to them.

"Lion FoldingZord." Jayden said.

"Ape FoldingZord." Emily said.

"Turtle FoldingZord." Mia said.

"Dragon FoldingZord." Kevin said.

All four stood up straight. They were engulfed by a glow of their own color. It then faded away. They were now morphed into Mega Mode.

Jayden stood tall. He held one arm extended diagonally downward.

Kevin stood backwards with spread feet. He had one leg bent, while the other was straightened. His upper body had been turned to the right. His hands were clenched into fists, which he held in front of him. He was ready to knock someone out.

Mia stood tall. She held one arm straight down diagonally. Her other arm was crossed over her chest.

Emily stood tall. One arm she held out horizontally. Her other arm was bent upward.

"Mega-Mode Power!" They all four said in unison.

Then all four jumped up. They each took their Mega Blade from the air. They then teleported themselves to their Zord's cockpit. Once there, they each folded their Mega BLade to insert it into the control system. To which they also clicked their black Power Disk onto.

Mike's Zord was still clawing the Mega Rofer. However, it didn't seem to have much effect on the monster.

"I think it's time for me to kick back." Rofer said, as he kicked the Zord away from him with a hard kick.

The Bear FoldingZord flew backwards, because of it. Fortunately, it was caught by the four other MegaZords.

Mike managed to hold himself upright on the control system.

"Thanks for having my back, guys." Mike said gratefully to his friends.

"Rangers, we need to combine. Now!" Jayden announced fiercely.

He took his Samuraizer back out in his hand. He wrote the symbol '' in front of him.

"Zord combine." He said as the symbol glowed brightly.

The five Zords started to combine with each other.

The Lion FoldingZorrd folded up into the body and head of the MegaZord. It was also the anchor point for the other four Zords.

"Here we go." Mike said as his Zord and the Dragon FoldingZord folded into the MegaZord's legs.

The Turtle FoldingZord and the Ape FoldingZord folded into the MegaZord's arms. Then the four reformed Zords linked up with the reformed Lion FoldingZord. Thus, together they formed the MegaZord. A hat appeared on the MegaZord's head. A long, large engraved Katana sword also appeared on the MegaZord's hip. When the MegaZord was fully formed, the five Samurai Rangers teleported into the Zord's cockpit.

Once the MegaZord was successfully and fully formed and combined, they all five said in unison: "Samurai MegaZord. We are united."

"I've taken this as far as I can on my own." Mike told them. "Let's finish this Nihglok off together!"

"Right." Mia said, nodding.

"Right." Jayden agreed.

"Yeah!" Emily said eagerly.

"Let's do this thing!" Mike said equally eager.

Mia was once again surprised at how Mike had grown and changed in a positive way since the day before.

"Mike, you've come a long way." She told him, impressed.

"Here's the attack!" Jayden suddenly said urgently, which caught their attention.

He grabbed his folded Mega Blade in the control system.

Once again, Rofer spat something at the MegaZord.

The Megazord raised its shield. The spit bounced off it. The MegaZord strode towards the Nighlok with its Katana sword raised.

"You look mega hungry for a big-time battle, so have a punchy portion of my taste titanic trick!" The Mega NIghlok teased. "Arm Stretch!"

The Mega Nighlok slammed both fists into the ground, causing the Samurai Rangers to let out a startled sound.

On the ground, Yoni's jaw dropped in surprise. She then became annoyed that even in his Mega form, the Nighlok could also do his false fist trick.

The MegaZord put its shield away. It grabbed the hilt with both hands.

"Just follow my lead." Jayden instructed his friends.

"Jayden, what's up? We're not just going to stand here waiting, are we?" Mike asked surprised.

"Just use your instincts to sense his attack." Jayden replied.

Mike became a little unsure and asked: "Are you sure?"

"If we concentrate hard enough, we'll be able to read his next move." Jayden said encouragingly and reassuringly.

"I'm with ya." Mike agreed with a deep sigh.

All the Samurai Rangers looked straight ahead. They bowed their heads slightly. Under their helmets, each closed their eyes.

"Okay, just focus." Jayden said calmly.

The MegaZord remained in position with its sword raised. Its eyes went out as well.

"Concentrate." Jayden said, fists were going in all directions underground. "Wait for it."

"Hey! Did you fall asleep? Well, here comes your wake-up call." Rofer taunted, shooting both fists out of the ground, straight at the MegaZord.

"Now!" Mike and Jayden exclaimed together at the same time.

The MegaZord's eyes lit up again. It moved so quickly to dodge and block the fists. It had one fist pinned down on the ground with its foot. The Zord kept the other fist at bay with the engraved Katana sword.

The MegaZord had its Katana sword slung over its shoulder. And the sword's tip held the other fist back behind it.

"What? How did you..." Rofer said shocked. "I'm all tied up!"

A wave of relief, excitement, and amazement went through the MegaZord's cockpit.

"We did it!" Emily said enthusiastically.

"Fantastic!" Kevin said cheerfully.

"Let's finish this!" Jayden said solemnly, pushing his folded Mega Blade forward into the control system.

The command caused the MegaZord to make a circular slash. This left the Nighlok fistless.

"Oh! No way!" The Nighlok said, startled at the sight of the stumps.

In the cockpit, the five Samurai Rangers prepared to deliver the final blow in order to defeat the Nighlok once and for all. They merely removed their folded Mega Blades from the control system. They let their swords return to their normal form.

"Katana Power!" Kevin said.

The Megazord pointed its Katana sword at the Nighlok, as Jayden said: "Bye-bye Nighlok!"

"Oh, no! I'm all punched out!" The Mega Monster panicked.

The MegaZord made a large counterclockwise circle with a glowing sword. It then held the sword straight up. It grasped the hilt with both hands.

Inside the MegaZord's cockpit, the Samurai Rangers had grabbed the hilt of their Mega Blades with both hands. They held their swords straight up above their hands.

"Samurai Strike!" All five in unison.

They brought down their Mega Blades in a diagonal slash. The symbol '' briefly appeared in front of them, before disappearing again. Their Mega Blades lit up in their respective color.

The MegaZord also made the same diagonal slashas the Samurai Rangers. This slash hit the Mega Monster.

"Uh-oh." Rofer said before the attack hit him, knocking him down.

The Nighlok went up in flames.

On the ground, Yoni was cheering. She eagerly celebrated the Nighlok's defeat.

"Good riddance." She said happily.

In the MegaZord's cockpit, Kevin cheered: "We knocked him out!"

"Amazing." Emily breathed.

"Sure was!" Kevin said back in agreement.

Mike placed a hand on his control system. He let his Mega Blade with its non-sharp side rest against his shoulder. He sighed deep in relief. He was glad that the fight was finally over. He was also glad that he had been able to get revenge on the monster for his friends.

~Back in the Shiba House~

Once the Mega Battle was over, the Samurai Rangers demorphed again from Mega Mode. The MegaZord split up again into five different Zords. These became hand-sized again. When the Samurai Rangers fully demorphed again, they quickly reunited with each other and Yoni. Together they left the city. They returned to the Shiba House.

At the Shiba House, they went through the open gate. They then entered through the double black front doors.

As they turned around the corner into the living room, Jayden proudly said to Mike: "Good work, Mike!"

He grinned broadly. He patted Mike on the shoulder. He walked further into the living room.

"Yeah, you were great." Kevin agreed smiling.

He also patted Mike on the shoulder. He then stepped aside for Mia, so she could stand next to Mike.

"The way you tricked that Nighlok was beyond creative." Mia said softly to him smiling.

Mike looked up at her with a small smile.

"It was so cool how you used those wacky arms against him." Emily said laughing, as she did an octopus dance with her arms.

This made Yoni chuckle softly.

Kevin put an arm around Mike's shoulders and said smiling: "Yeah, couldn't have done it better myself."

Jayden smiled at the group as he took a seat on one of the couches.

Mike sighed and said: "Well, the truth is... I did trick him, but it wasn't enough. Actually, it was Jayden who helped me defeat him. I only anticipated the attack of one of his arms. Jayden got the other one. I couldn't have done it without him. I'm also grateful to Yoni for her help. Together with her, I was able to come up with some strategies where we could use his arms and fists against him."

Mike put his arm around Yoni's shoulders. They both shared a smile.

The others turned their heads to Jayden.

Ji had come to stand next to Jayden's seat.

Jayden slowly stood up again and said: "We can do anything as a team."

He walked over to his team. He held out his hand.

Mia smiled broadly as she placed her hand on his.

Emily and Kevin followed suit, smiling.

Mike let his arm slide off Yoni's shoulders. He took a step forward. With a broad grin, he placed his hand on top of theirs.

"Rangers together, Samurai Forever!" The five Samurai Rangers said together powerfully in unison.

Then they raised their joined hands in victory.

On the sidelines, Ji and Yoni smiled at how this team came together.
