"Are you sure you're ready to go back to work and face JJ?" Brandi asked Emily. They were at a local coffee shop for some coffee and breakfast before Brandi went into work. It's also been a month since Emily has gotten out of the institution.

"Honestly I don't know. But I won't know until I try. If I don't do it now, then I never will." Emily answered.

"Okay. Well you know to call me if anything happens, okay? Obviously tell your team first so they are able to do something about the situation, but do call me if anything does happens. I don't want you to close yourself off to everyone." Brandi said.

"Trust me, you'll be the first call I make. I'm just nervous of having to face her again." Emily admitted.

"I know. But you don't have to talk to her unless it's work related. Instead talk to your other teammates. It really does help, and I'm sure your team is more than willing to keep you separated from her." Brandi said.

"Very true. Now, you better be going so you aren't late for your exam." Emily said, realizing the time.

"Yeah, I guess. I'm so nervous for it." Brandi said.

"You will do great. You're a very intelligent woman who also happens to be a badass officer. You've got this!" Emily said encouragingly. Emily hugged Brandi and told her to call after she's done. Once Brandi was out of sight, Emily began to panic about going back to work. She was worried about how her performance will be and also having to face JJ.

When the time came, Emily was standing at the elevator. Since she was taking half a day, it wasn't as crowded with people waiting for it. The doors opened, and she stepped in. She hit the '6' button and waited for the doors to open again. The nerves kicked in, and she felt as if she was going to throw up. The elevator dings, and the doors slide open revealing the sixth floor. She walked to the clear glass doors and entered the bullpen. "Emily!" Penelope shouted. She ran over and gave Emily a giant hug. This brought attention to the two including the attention of JJ. JJ sawEmily's face and wondered how she got even more beautiful than before. All of the feelings she had for Emily were still there, and she could feel more beginning to develop. She didn't even know that was possible.

"You must feel real stupid right now for doing what you did," Derek said. "Now every guy and woman here knows she's single, and they're gonna be all over her." JJ didn't say a word at what Derek said. Instead, she slammed down her case files onto her desk and walked away. Emily saw this, and she began feeling her heart ache again.

"Derek's been giving her so much crap since finding out what she did. Also, Spence quit because he couldn't work with her." Penelope said. Emily felt so bad for JJ, and she didn't want to since karma was getting her good. However, she couldn't let everyone treat JJ like garbage regardless of the terrible thing she did. She decided to walk over to Derek and give him a hug.

"Listen, Derek. I know what JJ did to me was awful. But, I don't want you to treat her like trash or say anything hurtful to her. She's a vital part of this team, and we need her here. We already lost Spence. We can't lose her too." Emily said after pulling away from the hug.

"But-"

"No 'but's. She's important to this team but also human. She has feelings. As much as I would like to unload all of my anger and hurtfulness onto her, I don't want it to get to the point that she takes her life." Emily said. She walked away from Derek and decided to find JJ. She knows she shouldn't face her and talk to her yet, but she felt so bad for her. She knows that this has been going on since the team found out. JJ deserved a lot, but she didn't deserve that.

Emily decided to check JJ's old office because that's usually her hiding spot. "JJ, are you in here?" Emily asked softly. She heard sniffles, so she knew that JJ was there.

"Go away." JJ said. Emily closed the door and sat down on the floor next to JJ.

"Look, there's a lot that I want to say to you and get off my chest-"

"So why don't you? Everyone else has." JJ said.

"I'm not going to because I think you've had more than your fair share. What you did is unforgivable, and I probably will never forgive you for it. But that doesn't mean that I will hate you forever. Do I hate you now? Of course I do. But I'm adult enough that I can put that aside and just be your friend. You need a friend right now, and-" Emily didn't finish her sentence because JJ clung onto her and began sobbing. Emily hugged JJ back and began rocking side-to-side as best she can. JJ just needed to be held, and Emily knew that.

"I'm so sorry." JJ said after she cried everything out.

"I know. It's just going to take more than that for me to even trust you again and possibly even forgive you." Emily said.

"I know." JJ said.

"Now. Lets wipe away those tears and get back out there." Emily said. Emily grabbed a tissure from her purse and started to dry JJ's tears. She couldn't help but get lost in JJ's eyes. She felt herself start to lean in for a kiss, but she stopped herself before anything could happen. She stood up and helped JJ up. They walked out, and Emily went to Hotchs' office while JJ walked back to her desk.

"Emily! It's good to see you back. And just in time for another case." he said while holding up a casefile. Emily knew what that mean and headed straight for the conference room. While being briefed about the case, Emily kept looking at JJ and vice versa. Emily can't deny her love for JJ, but JJ broke her. She knew JJ needed to earn her trust before even thinking about dating each other again. And who knows how long that will take.
