Author's Note
This story is an adaptation of a story I already cooked up once before, however I had deleted that one because I didn't like it. But I had this idea come to me of how to adapt it better, and I really like this one.
It's going to be kinda whacky, yet I want it to be taken sort of seriously with the feelings that come from it. It's actually going to be a sad storyline, if I'm honest with myself.

''She didn't have to make it sound like that...'' Normal Thoughts
(Unova Region)
"Hugh, Honey, please don't push yourself so hard…" The young man stopped just short of the doorway, only moments before running out into the world. His wild dark lavender hair fluttered in the wind from the opened door, red eyes glowing in concern.
"No, I've put this off for too long as it is. I want to make it easier for you…" The young man responded seriously, eyes filled with a dangerous level of determination. "Grandma, please. Let me do this for you…" His expression weakened.
"You've pushed yourself so hard after they passed away… And I know if I let you go now you won't stop until you're at the top." The older woman said softly, moving forward to grab his shoulders. "You know you don't have to work so hard for me… You and your sister are all I have left…" She sighed.
Hugh turned away, setting his eyes on the horizon just past the doorway. He could see it now, a future where the ones he cared for were protected and looked after. But he couldn't do that as he was now, a no name Pokémon-less Trainer.
That's why he decided to become the Champion, to take care of them. It had become difficult after his parents passed on, and he knew that he couldn't continue to live like this forever. He needed money for his grandmother, and he needed money for his cute little sister.
His grandmother only had a limited amount of retirement savings left over after having to take him and his sister in. It wouldn't last forever, this he knew quite well. That's why he promised himself that he'd stand up, and take responsibility for the house he lived in.
He'd accomplish this task, no matter the difficulties that he was sure to face. Because, in the end, his heart wouldn't allow anything else.
His neighbor, a friend of sorts that he grew up with had already set out a while ago on a journey of his own. He had some catching up to do if he dared to wish that he would accomplish his goals.
But…
The pleading face of his saddened grandmother stopped him just short. He wanted to go.
He needed to go…
For them he would undertake this challenge in life…
"Please… I know that I can't stop you, but… Before you go, could we at least spend one last day together? It's already getting late, and you're probably tired from today already." She pushed, an understanding smile on her tired old face. His shoulders slackened in defeat.
"How about this? You rest up tonight and spend this time with your little sister, then tomorrow morning you set out." She offered, grabbing his hands. "Besides, all this dinner I made for you would go to waste if you left now."
Hugh sighed, his handsome young features relaxing into a relenting smile. The door behind him shut and he took his shoes off, setting them by his go bag.
She was right. He was really rushing into things. One more night together with his family wouldn't hurt. And the sad face of his little sister haunted his mind. He knew she'd be upset if he left, but he was doing this for her. She'd understand one day, just maybe not today.
"Fine… I'll stay tonight." Hugh relented with a sigh, much to his grandmothers joy.
"Wonderful dear. I'm going to treasure this time we have together, because I'm sure you're going to make a brand new family out there in the world. I believe that there are Pokémon out there waiting for you and you alone, they just don't know it yet." She claimed, believing it with her whole heart.
She turned back to him, a mischievous grin on her old yet still beautiful features. "And perhaps some might have the hots for you, you do take after your father with your looks after all…" She teased, getting an embarrassed grunt out of the young man.
"Come on, granny…" He groaned, cheeks red.
She laughed wholesomely. "But it's true dear. You should see the way the neighbors Kirlia looks at you. I'd keep an eye on that one…" He sighed, glancing out the window. True enough the house across the way had a familiar looking Psychic Type Pokémon gazing out the window. Their eyes locked and her face turned red, before she ran away from the window.
Hugh shook his head, brushing off his grandmother's suggestive comments. She'd always pushed him to seek out love and live his life to the full, enjoying all the wonderful things of this world. But he'd been so wound up on focusing on working for her that he'd inadvertently pushed away any girl that had approached him.
She eventually, (somehow), came to the conclusion that he didn't like human women, but Pokémon instead. She'd teased him endlessly about it and had shifted to making him find a Pokémon as a wife instead, much to his rising embarrassment…
She joked about it all the time, but she didn't seem to notice that he never refuted her claims…
"Big Brother!" His attention was pulled back to the present when his adoring little sister came barreling down the stairs, launching herself into his stomach.
"Hey little sis…" He muttered, pulling her into a tight hug.
"You were gonna leave weren't you…" She accused. He sighed, but didn't deny it.
"Yeah… But your grandma here convinced me to stay another night…" He snarked, but his tone held no bite. The older woman laughed, already moving for the kitchen.
"That she did. Come now, dinner will get cold if you wait any longer." She chided. The two siblings quickly made their way to the dinner table. He shook his head, brushing his long bangs out of his face.
''Tomorrow…'' Hugh told himself, glancing out the kitchen window. Tomorrow he'd truly begin his journey. His first stop was Professor Juniper's lab down the street. The tall blond woman had promised him that she'd have a Pokémon waiting just for him whenever he decided to arrive.
He couldn't wait.
"Stop daydreaming big brother! Your food's getting cold!" The voice of his little sister chimed out. He shook his head, grinning at her.
"I hear you, I hear you…"
The next day had come quickly, and the teen was off at first light. He wanted to get a head start on his journey to the top, as well as the fact that he was terribly impatient.
Dressed in his typical white and red zip up collared long sleeve shirt and slightly baggy red zipped pants he made his way to the beginning of his destiny. His large head of spiky dark purple hair billowed in the wind, but he paid it no mind.
The Professor's lab wasn't too long from his house, but he had no mode of transportation barring his running shoes. So a good old fashioned morning run was how his day would truly start.
His sharp red eyes were laser focused on his destination to the point that he almost ran headfirst into the glass door that marked the entrance to the regional professor Juniper's laboratory. He stared up at the entrance sign, a determined look smeared across his handsome features.
''This is it..'' He told himself.
Upon entering the building he came across a couple Pokémon Trainer's, each of whom had brought along with them strong looking Pokémon. None of them brought interest to his eyes, not even a little.
"Hugh! There you are!" His gaze was brought to the young and gorgeous looking Professor Juniper, a tall blond that seemed way out of anyone's league, not that he was particularly interested anyway.
"Hey Professor. I hope I'm not too early?" Hugh greeted in return, moving up to the taller woman.
"Not at all, young man." She winked. "You're right on time actually." She claimed, before taking his hand. "Come now, I'm dying to show you your new partner. Treat her with respect, because she will be yours for the rest of your life should you choose her…" She stated seriously.
Hugh gulped, staring intently ahead. He couldn't help but notice that she indeed did specify gender.
Juniper pulled him into a back room, shutting the door behind them. Hugh found himself in the Professor's research lab, and sitting on the counter on the far side was a single Poké-Ball, specifically an Ultra Ball.
He found himself staring at it, unable to move. A few moments passed in silence before Juniper pushed him forward.
"Go on. Let her out." She urged happily. Hugh swallowed up his nerves and moved for the ball. He cradled the orb in his hands, getting a feel for it.
Delaying no longer he threw it towards the ground a few feet from him. A bright red light lit up the room, and in a flash she was there. His eyes widened, stunned by her appearance.
It was a Ralts, the small Psychic Type Pokémon. And more then that, she was a shining green. He couldn't believe his eyes. She was breathtakingly cute.
"H-Hello…" The little Pokémon muttered nervously, poking her fingers together, seemingly out of habit. She gazed up at him, their height difference very apparent.
Hugh bent down, holding a hand out to her, a gentle smile on his face. "Hey… I'm Hugh. I hope we can have a great time together. If you'll have me…" He said softly, waiting patiently for her decision.
The little Pokémon looked at the hand nervously, glancing to and from it. She bit her lip, slowly reaching her hand out to grab his much larger one. Her eyes fluttered nervously has she slowly looked up to face him. When she finally locked eyes with him, he didn't avert his gaze, staring intently ahead.
Her face turned bright red, she bit her lip, and grabbed his hand. "I-..I-I.. I'll h-have y-you…" She whispered, staring him meekly in his sharp handsome eyes. "Mhhmmmm…" She hummed nervously, her cheeks growing hotter the longer he held her gaze.
"Careful now, you're going to overload her if you keep looking at her like that." Juniper warned with a laugh, breaking Hugh's attention. He turned away, the little Ralts finally getting a breather.
"She's a romantic little one, so you'd better keep your eyes on her…" She teased, patting him on the back. He sighed internally, picking Ralts up by the underside of her arms. "Then again, keeping your eyes on her is probably going to make it worse…" She relented.
"Hmmhmmmmmmm——…" Ralts hummed in a nervous happy panic, smiling a wide crooked grin, face as red as the horn on her head. Hugh sweat-dropped, laughing lightly.
"Oh I think you two will get together wonderfully." The blond muttered, with a grin. Hugh didn't catch her as she snapped a picture, a picture she quickly sent to her close friend, Hugh's grandmother.
"I've already set you up in the system, so you're an officially recognized as a Pokémon Trainer. I've set aside some gear for you as well." Juniper added lightly.
Hugh turned back to the Professor, the red faced Ralts sitting happily on his shoulder. She looked like she was in a daze, giggling quietly to herself.
"So… What're you gonna call her?" Juniper asked, eyebrow raised in question. Hugh stopped, glancing at Ralts from the corner of his eyes.
"Hmm… How about… Sabrina?" He said. The only response he got was a small peck on the cheeks from the cute little Pokémon sitting on his shoulder. His eyebrows twitched, but he didn't stop her.
"Ooh, I dare say she likes that one." Juniper stated with a bemused grin.
"Professor… Why do I get the idea that my grandmother set you up to this…?" Hugh deadpanned. The Professor cleared her throat, turning away sharply.
"I-I have no idea what you are talking about. Sabrina here simply didn't take any Trainer before you. She said that they weren't the one…" She stated, covering her face with her hand. Hugh squinted accusingly at her, but couldn't find it in himself to comment further.
"Well whatever… Come on Sabrina, let's blitz." He stated offhandedly, grabbing his bag already moving for the door.
''That poor guy has no idea what's in store for him…'' Juniper thought to herself, failing to hide her deep amusement. He'd soon learn what to expect however.
The real reason that Sabrina hadn't taken any previous Trainer was simple. They just weren't doing it for her. The second her cute little face learned of the handsome young stud that lived down the street, she knew she was going to wait for him.
And if that meant staying as a Ralts for a long period of time, longer then normal, then she didn't care. Because now, she finally had him all to herself, and she wasn't going to let him slip through her greedy little green hands…
After leaving the Professor's lab, Hugh and the newly named Sabrina trailed off into the distance, heads held high. This was the beginning of something great, he just knew it.
Years later, when he looked back on this moment as the champion of the Unova Region, he would pin this as the starting point to the biggest changing point of his life. This would mark the start of his journey to the top of the world, a world that he promised his aging grandmother and his adorable little sister.
They wouldn't have to worry about money or work or what would happen in their futures, because he would have suffered for them, in turn giving them the best life he could offer.
Yes…
Soon all would be well, and he could finally rest easy and take up his grandmother's advice and find someone to love. Marriage sounded like a great idea for his future, but it would have to wait until after he became the new champion.
"Are you ready, Sabrina?" He asked, staring off into the sunrise. The cute Pokémon cooed happily beside him, smiling widely. "This is the beginning of our journey to the top. And once I'm there, I know you'll be standing with me."
Her face seemed to light up, the little Pokémon grabbing her cheeks as she swayed back and forth in a pleasant daze.
Oh she'd be standing with him alright, just perhaps not the way he initially said thought. Her daydreams would have to wait for the right time however, because she was just a tad bit too small to even begin to fulfill them.
The new Trainer and Pokémon's journey took them to the next town over, the sun having set by the time they arrived. Hugh had decided to spend the night at the Pokémon Center, the place offering free nights rest for weary Trainers. The two hit the bed as soon as they could.
But before he could hop in bed, a thought crossed him. "Hey, Sabrina? How about we record this moment?" Hugh asked, grinning at the adorable little Pokémon sitting in his lap.
"T-That's a great idea!" She offered quietly, yet she couldn't have been happier. She squeaked in surprise when he scooped her up in his arms, holding his arm out with the Poké-Dex in camera mode. He didn't have a phone.
"Say cheese!" He laughed.
"C-Cheese!"
A flash lit up the room, the image of the two smiling recorded forever. He held the Poké-Dex in his hands, holding it in front of Sabrina so she could see the image. He left her with the device while he got ready for bed.
"Sabrina?" Hugh asked.
"Y-Yes Master?"
The new Pokémon Trainer was laying down, hands behind his head as he gazed powerfully up through the open skylight. Sabrina crawled up his chest, sitting right in front of him curiously. He was smiling, a determined look in his eyes that sent a chill of excitement down her little spine.
"I'm going to become the Champion, you know." He said seriously, eyes burning with a furious determination. "And I hope you'll be right there with me when we get there." He said, glancing down to her.
The Ralts felt tears start filling her eyes at his declaration, a large smile splitting her face.
"Then once we've done that, we can do whatever you want. Whatever you want, wherever you wish to go or want to do, we can do." He promised with a smile. Sabrina felt her heart skip a beat, cheeks turning red.
"A-Anything?" She whispered, eyes impossibly wide. He seemed to miss the look in her eye.
"Yeah. Anything you want, no matter what it is." He reassured. Seeing as she had become lost to her own daydreams at this point, he let her sit with those words. He could always ask her what she wanted some other time.
"Goodnight Sabrina." Hugh said with a smile, quickly drifting off.
And as he fell asleep in the small bed offered, Sabrina sitting happily on his chest, he knew that he had made the right decision. The last thing he remembered before he drift off into the land of dreams was Sabrina's cute little lips pecking him on the forehead, wishing him a good night's rest.
"G-Goodnight.. D-D-Darling…" Sabrina whispered, eyes fluttering closed as she fell asleep atop him. "I want..." She muttered as she began to drift off, a happy smile refusing to leave her lips. "I-I want to marry... you..." She whispered, sleep taking her.
Tomorrow would begin their life together, and she couldn't wait…
"Wake up, Darling. It's morning already..."
"A-Ahhh…" His head hurt, a throbbing pain spread through his brain. He clenched his eyes closed tight in an attempt to clear away the dull ache. Just trying to open his eyes sent a spike of pain jolting down his back. "What the-…"
What happened…?
He…
He couldn't remember anything…
The last thing that came to mind was the new face of his adorable little partner, her little white lips pressed against his forehead as a vivid image burned into his mind. Wasn't that just last night?
Was he still at the Pokémon Center? The bed he found himself sleeping in seemed way too soft to be the free ones available to no name new Trainers…
Did he head home and just forget?
No… No that didn't make any sense…
"Oooh Darling, careful now…" A deep sensual voice cooed hotly in his ears, sending a shiver down his spine. He would've jumped out of his skin if his head wasn't hurting like hell. But that seemed to require too much energy, and instead he resolved to keeping his eyes closed.
"Here… Let me sooth that nasty headache." The voice hummed sensually, a pair of supple hands pressing lightly against his temples. A strange energy filled his head, and soon he found the tension beginning to leave his shoulders. "Mhmmm… There you go…" She whispered deeply, pressing her forehead gently against his own. "Don't push yourself Darling, just lay still and let me take care of you."
That voice…!
It..
It sounded familiar..
But…
But it sounded so much older now, deeper, more sensual. Adult-like, a woman's voice that he'd never the pleasure to hear before, but had at the same time. The tone alone seemed to calm his heart, as if his body knew the person behind it and trusted them, but his mind did not.
"Come back to me, Darling. Please don't keep your lover waiting…" She hummed deeply, pressing her lips to his own. Hugh's eyes shot open wide, staring into a pair of large glowing red orbs. A wide saucy smirk greeted his surprised face, white lips parted hotly. A trail of saliva connected the two, her hot breath tickling his lips.
"W-Wha-…" He breathed, eyes blinking rapidly in confusion. Laying atop him was, without a doubt, the most beautiful Pokémon he had ever had the luxury of laying his eyes on.
Long thick slender white legs extended up into a shapely pronounced rear end barely covered by a loosely fitting swimsuit piece, topped with wide hips. A thin waist and tight belly were only accentuated by a huge pair of white breasts that were cupped by a silky pink and blue swimsuit top. Protruding out from between her large chest was a red colored horn, which extended out the other end of her backside as well. Around her neck was a red choker with a small logo of a Poké-Ball.
Hugh shakily gazed up, locking eyes with the face of the beauty that pinned him to the bed. Just like the rest of her body her face was entirely white, with a cute nose, large breathtaking red eyes, and the most beautiful smirk he'd ever seen. Her ears were large and shaped almost like a pair of feathers, poking out past her large curled head of slick green hair. Her fashioned green hair extended all the way down her back, tied together at her head with a cute red bow tie. Above all, she was significantly larger then him, by well over two feet just in height alone. She likely stood at eight feet in total.
Hugh shivered as her white arms brushed past him, her chest pressed up tightly against his own. He felt his face quickly catching fire, and struggled to look anywhere but her bountiful assets. So he settled for locking eyes with her, cheeks burning like mad.
"Hhnn… Darling, your gaze is as powerful as when we first met. It's almost too much to bear." She moaned, lips closing in for another passionate kiss.
"Mhhmm…" Hugh moaned, eyes threatening to roll up into the back of his head.
''W-W-What the h-hell is happening!?'' He mentally screamed. His eyes widened in shock when she took hold of his hands, placing them squarely on her chest. ''W-When we first-… Met...?''
"Don't be shy, Darling. We're married you know." She breathed out, a sigh of contentment leaving her lips. "You can do whatever you want to them, I know you want to…" She winked, cheeks red.
''W-W-Wait! T-Too fast!?'' His mind screamed.
"Hmmm… But you know how I like it down here.." She trailed off, that seducing tone that was her normal voice sending shivers down his spine. He suddenly found his hand repositioned to her rear end, the Pokémon biting her lips to hold back a moan. "Careful… You don't want to wake the others…" She cooed, cheeks burning with passion. "I'm glad you're alright. I was worried sick after what happened last night..." She stated.
Hugh started sweating nervously.
Last night? What happened last night?!
What was happening now?!
What in the world was going on?! This was all happening so fast that he couldn't keep up with the Pokémon that pinned him to the bed. Why was he in bed with a Pokémon?!
"Ah, but I should know better then to play when you're hurt, so I'll hold back for now Darling." She smiled, going to get up. She stood up beside the bed, adjusting her swimsuit that her feminine assets threatened to burst out from. She smiled coyly at him as he suddenly turned away, the young man caught staring.
"Don't be embarrassed, Darling. After all, these are all for you. I've read your mind before, I know how you like them." Sabrina teased, pressing the sides of her arms against her chest, the action making them look even bigger. She took pride in his reaction, before taking her leave. There was a sway in her step, and he found his gaze glued to her posterior and long slender legs. Hugh gulped audibly.
"Darling, you're gaze is making me blush… So intense…" She teased. He quickly looked away, but no admonishment came his way. The Gardevoir wrapped a thin see-through red shawl around her waist as she left, giving her a slight boost in modesty. "I'll be back with breakfast... Unova Champion..." She giggled as she left.
The door to his room shut with a click, leaving him alone in silence. He stared blankly at the door far opposite the room he found himself in. He blinked slowly, finally tearing his gaze away from the wall. He glanced down at the blanket covering his legs. He was wearing nothing but underwear, barely allowing him to keep his modesty.
He shook his head, throwing the blankets off of the bed.
"W-What?!" He gasped out, eyes wide. His legs had grown, looking more akin to an adults then a teenager he was supposed to be. Panicking, he fell out of bed when his legs didn't react the way he thought they were supposed to. He reached out for the nightstand, sucking in a breath at the arms of his that were substantially stronger and bigger then he remembered them.
"Ow..." Hugh groaned, laying face down on the soft plush carpeted floor. Slowly he pushed himself up, using the bed to help himself stand. He felt his head spin when he noticed that the floor seemed just a bit too far away. Glancing up from above his groin he found a pair of abs decorating his exposed abdomen.
"What is happening..." He breathed out. He quickly looked around the room, seeking out mirror of any kind. Once he'd located one he shambled over to it, trying to get a feel for walking. However, when he reached the mirror he sucked in a breath.
No...
No no no...
This wasn't happening.
This had to be wrong!
This must've been some kind of dream...
Right?
Because other then that, what else could explain why he'd grown in height, gained muscles, and had clearly aged a few years. His typical dark colored hair had grown out, covering his eyes while still retaining the look of sticking up unnaturally. His face was sharper, more handsome then he remembered. And his eyes were sharp, seemingly filled with experience.
"This is unreal..." He wasn't aware of the words that slipped from his mouth, too busy poking and prodding at this new older body of his.
Pushing that thought aside, he began to search his room absentmindedly as his mind struggled to keep up with the rush of thoughts and emotions that filled his head. He wandered the room in a daze, taking in just how expensive it looked. He could've never expected to afford a room like this one.
After making his way back to the bed...
His bed...
He found a photo by the bed. He felt his heart stop at what he saw. It was a photo of him when he was younger, of the day he first set out on his journey. And with the biggest smile possible on her little face was Sabrina, the cute little Ralts sitting on top of his head. He remembered that day like it was yesterday...
Because it was supposed to have been yesterday...
But beside that photo were three more. The second was of him again, however looking roughly a year older then before. Ralts was nowhere to be found, instead a beaming Kirlia was sitting on his lap, resting her arms underneath her small breasts. He was smiling, happier then in that moment then he could pull from recent memory.
He didn't remember that. It didn't make sense...
Sabrina was a Ralts! She wasn't a...
She wasn't a Kirlia...
Then there was the third photo, where he found an even older version of himself sitting in the lap of a large busty Gardevoir, the adult Pokémon resting her head atop his akin to how he had done so to her prior. In the photo she easily had a good few inches on him in height, yet she looked nowhere near as womanly as the Gardevoir that woke him minutes ago now. He was blushing, seemingly upset as she teased him in the image.
Then came the final image. It was both of them again, however he'd aged further by this point. He was wearing a tuxedo, hair slicked back in a rough attempt to look professional. And Gardevoir?
Standing at an easy two feet taller then him by this point was the beautiful woman that woke him earlier. She was wearing a wedding dress that did little to hide her beautiful figure, and in the photo she stood behind him. Her chest rested atop his head as she hugged him from behind, happily showing off her ring. She'd apparently evolved again, to something even further beyond a fully evolved Gardevoir.
Though, most of that he didn't pay too much attention to.
No. He felt his heart catch in his throat at the look on her face. Never before had he seen someone so unbelievably happy. The purest joy radiated off of her, and more then that, he too looked like the happiest man alive. He was smiling with reckless abandon, as if he hadn't a care in the world. He couldn't remember a day where he'd ever, in his entire life, been as happy in that moment. And he didn't remember that moment...
He felt the energy of that image...
But he didn't remember anything like that ever happening...
He didn't know how long he stood there, staring at the photo. But it wasn't until the pool of tears blurred the image on the glass frame that he realized that he'd been spacing out for a good while. And he was crying...
His hands shook as he set the photo frame back down, careful not to break it. With tear filled eyes he read the words engraved onto the wooden frame.
And his heart stopped.
-Hugh and Sabrina, married 2010.-
-Champion of Unova-
-Strongest couple in the world-
Now he knew.
This wasn't a dream cooked up by staying up late at night. This wasn't some illusion cast upon him by a Pokémon.
This was real.
The life that he'd lived, a journey across the world wherein he became the strongest Pokémon Trainer in the region. The journey that ended with him marrying his first Pokémon, the apparent love of his life, and moving into some large house where they lived together happily.
He didn't remember any of it...
It was blank, like Arceus had wiped his mind clean leaving only his memories of his first day as a Trainer and everything before that. When he tried to think about his time with Sabrina, all he was left with was a debilitating headache that brought him to his knees.
Was this some kind of sick joke?! Was his entire life leading up to this point just...
Gone from memory...?
Erased as if it had never happened?
Wiped from the book of history?!
With tears staining his cheeks he slowly stood up, turning for his bed. His hair covered his eyes, hiding his gaze. Slowly he made his way over, hands gingerly picking up the smartphone that lay face up on the nightstand. The image that greeted him upon doing so was of him and Sabrina kissing on the beach, the location completely unknown to him. The phone was locked, and having no idea of the password, he tried the first thing that came to mind.
The year they got married.
With a quiet beep of recognition the phone unlocked, opening to his Home Screen. What greeted him was another image, this one a selfie of him and Sabrina as a Kirlia standing victoriously over the unconscious bodies of some uniform wearing thugs he'd never seen before.
He swiped through the phone, searching for the photos app. He didn't waste any time before opening it, and as he started going through the images, the tears started falling.
Sabrina and him kissing in front of a massive crowd as people cheered behind them. Him and Sabrina cuddling on the couch to stay warm during the freezing winter, Hugh happily nuzzled up underneath her chest as she hugged him with a teasing smile. Sabrina cooking in the kitchen while he took a photo of her from behind. Sabrina turning to him with a saucy smile after catching him taking said photo. Sabrina tugging off her cooking apron teasingly, the photo after that blurred due to the phone having slipped from his hands as he took it.
An image of him undressed and out cold as she took a selfie while he slept, sticking her tongue out at the camera. An image moments later when he cracked one eye open and stuck his tongue out at the camera, having been awake the whole time. A few moments later when he's got her pinned down, tickling her relentlessly as she turned red from giggling.
An image of her confused face as he woke her up in the morning with a kiss. An image taken, likely with psychic powers, from above as she pulled him down into her embrace, kissing him silly. A short gif of them both at the ocean, her stepping towards the gentle waves as he secretly dumped a bucket of cold water on her from behind. The next photo was of him being absolutely destroyed by a surge of wave as she reined down a tide upon him in revenge with Surf. The next photo of her blushing madly as the waves had stripped her of her swimsuit, Hugh soaked in the sand laughing as she covered herself. A photo of a second wave slamming into him in retaliation.
Hundreds of photos like that and more filled his phone, leaving him with endless snippets of memories he didn't have. Of times he didn't hold any recollection of.
But, out of morbid curiosity he continued scrolling through the images, searching for something that might give him some kind of inkling as to what went wrong, what happened to him.
And then he came across the screenshot of a web article that stated things that shot straight through his mind.
-Unova Champion trouble-
-Little sister vanished-
-Grandmother hospitalized due to illness-
-Champion reported depression streak-
He dropped the phone, collapsing back onto his massive king sized bed.
This was too much for him to take in all at once. Too many things to think about, too much to dwell on. He was supposed to be sixteen...
He wasn't supposed to be twenty one and married...
This wasn't supposed to be happening...
This just couldn't be happening...
His dream, his ideals to strive towards a future in which he became the Champion of Unova to pave the path to a comfortable life for whatever remained of his family. It was as if he'd woken up only to be told that it was old news. As if what he had promised himself, the future that he set out to carve for those he loved, had been shot dead.
He couldn't handle this all at once, it was just too much. And so, he started wailing in agony.
He wasn't aware of when the Gardevoir finally returned, food in hand with a huge smile on her face. Because the moment she took in his devastated face and tear stained cheeks, she knew something was wrong. Food forgotten entirely, she had the crying man wrapped within her arms immediately, whispering sweet nothings to him in an attempt to sooth whatever was affecting him so.
Unfortunately, he'd be doing the same to her in a moment when he finally managed to tear his eyes off of the wall and look her in the eyes.
"S-Sabrina...?" He asked uncertainly, looking lost. She grasped his face, thumbs rubbing away his tears.
"Yes Darling? What is it? What's wrong?" She asked quietly, concerned and scared over his sudden unexplained bout of sadness. She searched his eyes, her expression slowly falling as she decoded the look in his eyes. He wasn't asking her a question, no, that wasn't it. That wasn't why he asked her name.
It wasn't a look of familiarity, or love, or passion, or anything she'd become used to in her years with him. It wasn't the look he'd give her that she always loved.
