JJ called Emily again because her panic attack kept getting worse, but Emily didn't answer again. "Emily, please answer me. I know you don't like me, but I need to know you're okay because I saw the news. I know they said officer, but I just need to know you're okay. Um, after the case, do you think you can come over just for a little bit? I just, I don't know if I can do this by myself." JJ couldn't say anything else, so she just hung up the phone.

Emily was in the hospital. Not because she was injured. It was Brandi that was shot, and unfortunately Emily had witnessed it happen. She wanted to find the unsub, who just so happened to be the one who shot her. But she knew she needed to be with Brandi. She was in surgery, so all Emily could do was sit and wait. The surgeon walked in, but there was no expression on her face. "Follow me." she said. Emily stood up and followed her to a private room. "I'm sorry. We did everything we could, but she didn't make it," the surgeon said. Emily felt numb. She couldn't move. She couldn't think. "As we had to take off her uniform to do her surgery, this fell out of one of her pockets. It has your name on it." she said, handing Emily a phone. It wasn't Brandi's so Emily was confused. But she took it anyway.

"Am I able to go see her one last time?" Emily asked. The surgeon nodded her head, and she took Emily to where Brandi was. Brandi was laying on the table. She was pale and lifeless. Emily grabbed her hand gently.

"I was going to give you this after this case, but I guess fate had other plans. I was going to promise you that no matter what we go through, I will always fight for us no matter what. If we fought, then I would've made sure to talk it out with you before we go to sleep. I love you so much Brandi. You were there for me at my lowest. You were there for me for everything. You quickly turned into my best friend, and I don't know how I will find anyone else like you. You were my forever. I don't know what I'm going to do without. I love you so much." Emily said. She placed the promise ring on Brandi's ring finger and kissed her hand before turning around and walking out. Tears threatened to fall, but she didn't let them. She walked all the way to the black suv and sat in the driver seat. She unlocked the phone Brandi had on her. She found a video on it.

"Hey, Em. If you're watching this, then that means that I have passed away in the line of duty. I've kept this in my uniform since we started dating just in case. At the time of this video, we've been dating for two days. It's been the best two days of my life. You're so amazing and easily the best thing that's happened to me. I've loved getting to know Luca, and even Henry. You've been my comfort even before we started dating. You're someone special, and anyone is lucky to have. I'm blessed to be able to experience what it's like to be loved by you. You make me feel so special. You treat me like a queen. You're just overall amazing. I don't know how long will have passed since making this. It could be tomorrow, or we could be married. Whatever the time is, know that you were my last though. It's your face that I pictured before passing away.

Now, I know this isn't something you want to hear. But if you decide to date after I die, then I think you should go back to JJ. I see the way you look at her and the way she looks at you. You both love each other so much still. Could that change? Yes, it very well may. But if you still have feelings for her, then I think you should go back. Give her a second chance to redeem herself. What she didn't was not okay in any way. But I really do think she loves you. It's hard not to.

Anyway, I don't want this to be too long. I love you so much Emily Prentiss. I can't wait until we meet again."

Brandi started choking up in the end, and that's when Emily lost it. She knew she wasn't able to drive in this condition, so she called her mom. "Hello?" Emily couldn't say a single word. She just kept crying.

"Stay right there. I'm on my way." Elizabeth said. She hung up and waited.

Elizabeth had the Life 360 installed on Emily's phone just in case, and she's glad she did. She tracked where Emily was and picked her up. Just like when her and JJ broke up, Emily clung onto Elizabeth. "She's gone." Emily managed to whisper.

"Who is?" Elizabeth asked.

"Brandi." Emily said. Elizabeth remembers seeing something on the news about an officer being shot, but she didn't think anything of it.

"Let's get you home." Elizabeth said.

"Can I stay with you?" Emily asked.

"Of course you can." Elizabeth said. The amount of heartache Emily's been through makes Elizabeth heartbroken. She hurts seeing her daughter so hurt. Obviously this time was very different.

Elizabeth driver to her mansion and offered to make Emily something to eat or drink, but Emily denied it. Instead she just went to her old room. Elizabeth knew she shouldn't just leave her by herself. At least not yet, so she went to her room and saw Emily crying. Elizabeth sat next to her and just held her as she cried until she fell asleep. Once she was asleep, Elizabeth went out to the living room and informed Hotch that Emily would probably need a few personal days. Of course, Hotch completely understood.

Brandi's funeral was a week later, and Emily almost didn't attend. She didn't think she could make it through. But she went, and so did the team, Luca, Michael, and Henry. After, Emily went straight to her moms house because she didn't want to face anyone. She just wanted to be alone. The funeral made it real that Brandi was really dead, and Emily was not okay at all.

"Is Emily eating? She seems thinner than usual." JJ asked Elizabeth.

"She eats here and there, but she ends up throwing it back up from crying." Elizabeth answered.

"I'm worried about her." JJ said.

"Me too. Maybe she will eat if you stop by later. If you can, of course." Elizabeth suggested.

"I can. I will even bring the boys." JJ said.

"It's a plan. I've been making lots of soups since I figured it'd be easier for her to keep down. Obviously it isn't working, but I'm hoping it will eventually." Elizabeth said.

"Soup sounds great right now, actually." JJ said.

"Okay. It should be done around five o'clock." Elizabeth said. JJ nodded her head and took the boys to the car. JJ showed up around five with the boys, and Elizabeth answered the door. When they walked to the kitchen, Emily looked at them. Emily looked as if she had no sleep.

Instead of shouting at JJ for not wanting her there, Emily stood up and hugged her. She was actually glad JJ was there. She needed her best friend. "Let's eat." JJ said after Emily hugged the boys. Emily nodded, and so they went to the table. Emily tried to eat as much as she can, but she could only eat about half the bowl.
