75 Years Chapter 4

Author's Note: I do not own the Hunger Games

To many people, The Fourth Hunger Games was one that was seen as forgettable, even controversial, by those in the Capitol. To others, it was the first Games to have an Inter-District Alliance. The circumstances into the Inter-District Alliance cannot be agreed on, but everyone in Panem can agree that it annoyed Dr. Gaul to the point all copies bar the one she has of the early Games are wiped.

The Tributes:

District 1: Amethyst Rickards (18), Jack Heyer (18)

District 2: Ursula Lavene (18), Oliver Shields (17)

District 3: Riko Tomiyasu (12), Billy Thompson (15)

District 4: Danae Colwill (17), James Kendell (16)

District 5: Sophie McHale (16), Set Daniels (15)

District 6: Deborah Glosswill (17), Gordon Wilson (15)

District 7: Alicia Scott (15), Denis Rostron (16)

District 8: Emily Gore (13), Taliesin Searson (16)

District 9: Ginger Carmichael (16), Wheat Murdoch (16)

District 10: Barbara Cantwell (15), Horsa Georges (17)

District 11: Flora Demaine (16), Swift Roswell (16)

District 12: Claire McNarama (13), Harold Hennessey (16)

The Games:

Prior to the start of the Fourth Hunger Games, while being in stables, District 12's Harold Hennessey proposed an alliance between the Tributes of Districts 10, 11 and 12. All six Tributes swore not to harm each other, and as the Tributes entered the Capitol Arena, the stage was set for the first Alliance in the Hunger Games. They, along with the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes had the majority of the weapons. It wasn't long before first blood was spilt, as Jack Heyer of District 1 ran his sword through a fleeing girl from District 3

24th: Riko Tomiyasu, District 3. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack

Jack and his District Partner Amethyst, teamed up to attack a pair of Tributes

23rd: Taliesin Searson, District 8. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack

22nd: Set Daniels, District 5. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Amethyst

Meanwhile, Ursula Lavene and Oliver Shields, the District 2 Tributes, decided to cull whichever Tributes are left with the supplies, which numbered five. Three shot by Ursula's arrows, two cut through by Oliver's sword

21st: Alicia Scott, District 7. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Ursula

20th: Billy Thompson, District 3. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Oliver

19th: Deborah Glosswill, District 6. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Oliver

18th: Danae Colwill, District 4. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Ursula

17th: Emily Gore, District 8. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Ursula

As the fighting ended, Jack Heyer came across one of the Alliance Tributes and with his javelin, quickly speared the unfortunate girl

16th: Claire McNarama, District 12. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack

Days 2 and 3 passed by without incident, but on Day 4, the District 1 Tributes came across a weakened Tribute from District 6. Deciding to put on a show, Jack and Amethyst plunged their swords and knives into the male Tribute, only stopping once Gordon Wilson slipped away

15th: Gordon Wilson, District 6. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack and Amethyst

On the other side of the Arena, Oliver had managed to catch up to the District 5 girl. Drawing his knife out, he slit the girl's throat

14th: Sophie McHale, District 5. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Oliver

Ursula had fired an arrow into the back of a boy from District 4

13th: James Kendall, District 4. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Ursula

Day 5 was uneventful, bar the District 9 Tributes nearly catching the Alliance's attention, but on Day 6, the District 1 and 2 Tributes decided to ally temporarily in order to kill off the remaining Tributes as well as the Alliance. The first two Tributes the four came across was the District 9 pair. Armed with knives, the four strongest Tributes tortured the pair to death, in order to get information out regarding the 10-11-12 Alliance.

12th: Wheat Murdoch, District 9. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack, Oliver, Ursula and Amethyst

11th: Ginger Carmichael, District 9. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack, Oliver, Ursula and Amethyst

The screams of Wheat and Ginger was enough to alert the Alliance. Swift Roswell and Barbara Cantwell both decided to venture out to investigate. Hours later, a pair of cries alerted from the two alerted the older Tributes in the Alliance before things quietened down.

10th: Swift Roswell, District 11. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack, Oliver, Ursula and Amethyst

9th: Barbara Cantwell, District 10. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Jack, Oliver, Ursula and Amethyst

As the Games approached Day 7, Ursula shot an arrow at a Tribute, the last non-Allied Tribute still in the Games

8th: Denis Rostron, District 7. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Ursula

Jack and Oliver decided to search for the remaining three Alliance Tributes, leaving Ursula and Amethyst by the supplies. Flora Demaine decided to crouch under the bleachers in order to launch her own attack. But what Jack and Oliver didn't expect was Horsa Georges and Harold Hennessey was tracking them, and only when both District 1 and 2 males turned around did the Alliance boys catch up to them. Horsa wrestled Jack to the ground before grabbing Jack's spear and speared the District 1 male through the throat.

7th: Jack Heyer, District 1. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Horsa with own weapon

Horsa looked up in time to see Harold yank Oliver's knife from him. Now weaponless, Oliver gasped in shock as his knife was plunged into his chest, regretting his mistake of underestimating a Tribute

6th: Oliver Shields, District 2. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Harold with his own weapon.

Realising that Amethyst and Ursula would soon discover them, Horsa, Flora and Harold fled.

Day 8 dawned with Amethyst and Ursula tracking down the final three Tributes. Shortly before noon, the encounter between the Districts 1 and 2 girls and the Alliance of the boys from 10 and 12 and the girl from 11 occurred. Armed with their weapons, Amethyst began to fight Flora. Within moments Amethyst had cut Flora up, the District 11 girl lying dead on the floor

5th: Flora Demaine, District 11. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Amethyst

Amethyst attempted to dispatch Harold Hennessey in the same way, but the District 12 Tribute was too quick. As Amethyst looked around for the District 12 boy, she felt a knife enter her neck before falling.

4th: Amethyst Rickards, District 1. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Harold.

Now outnumbered by the strong Outer Districts boys, Ursula pulled her last arrow. Putting it in her bow, she pointed it towards the District 12 boy. "Take him out Ursula", the District 2 girl muttered to herself as she fired the arrow. Harold gasped in surprise as the arrow entered his chest. Horsa ran to the side of the District 12 male, and unbuttoning the boy's shirt, looked at the arrow. It's pierced the boy's heart, Horsa thought as tears started to stream down his face. "Horsa, please win the Games. I beg you to win" Harold muttered as he passed away in Horsa's arms

3rd: Harold Hennessey, District 12. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Ursula

Horsa got up and glared at Ursula. The District 2 girl began to sneer as Horsa grabbed his sword. "How does it feel. Seeing your allies die. Why, it's like an arrow to the heart, isn't it?" she said in a mocking voice. She'll pay for that insult. In a fight lasting a hour, Horsa and Ursula attempted to disarm each other but with no other weapons on her, Ursula was soon laying dead on the field.

2nd: Ursula Lavene, District 2. Fourth Hunger Games. Killed by Horsa

1st: Horsa Georges, District 10. Fourth Hunger Games. Victor

Looking back to the bodies of his fallen allies, Horsa took the arrow from Harold's chest and Flora's knife. "Goodbye Flora. Goodbye Harold". The District 10 male whispered as he left the Arena.

Aftermath:

Horsa's victory would soon be forgotten. For the reminder of his life, he would go to a certain grave in District 10 twice a year; the birthday of his District Partner Barbara Cantwell and the day of her death. Horsa would later have four children, all named after a Tribute from the Outlier Districts in his Games; other reminders of his Games he kept included Flora's knife and the arrow that killed his ally. Horsa would pass away after the 60th Hunger Games. Recently, a display relating to the Fourth Hunger Games was unveiled at the Panem National Museum. One of the items on display is a locket, worn by Harold Hennessey during the Games, a gift from his girlfriend. The locket contains a photo of the deceased Tribute, his girlfriend and his twin brother. The locket was kept by a person in the Capitol after they removed and cleaned Harold's body from the Arena, and was passed down until a Capitolite, Perdita Dovecote, discovered the locket and gave it to me to put in the museum. There is a legend surrounding Harold Hennessey, that for many years after the Fourth Hunger Games, it is said his spirit still haunts the Capitol, only being seen by District 12 Tributes and Victors. Even long after the City Arena was demolished, he still haunts the site where the Arena once stood. Though there is a popular urban legend that he cannot rest until a part of him is returned to District 12. It is possible a canister found during Paylor's Presidency at the site of the City Arena may be linked to Harold Hennessey. But until I have permission to investigate the canister, the legends surrounding Hennessey will remain just that. This is what Dr. Gaul had to say about the Fourth Hunger Games

Beyond disgusted that Horsa Georges won the Games in an Alliance. But of course, I plan to punish Horsa. As for the Fifth Hunger Games next year, I plan to punish the Georges, Demaine and Hennessey Families.

Many Tribute Legacies sprang from the Fourth Hunger Games, with District 9's Rosie Carmichael being the last Tribute descended from a Tribute that was in the Fourth Hunger Games to be Reaped seventy years later. Yes, this is the Games that form the basis of "Beyond The Pale". Yes, the names are random. This was written last year, but I decided to upload on here once I got the first eleven chapters uploaded on AO3. I'm working on Chapters 12 through to 29, meaning you'll see Imogen amongst the Tributes. Yes, Imogen gets a brief mention in "Beyond The Pale".
