75 Years Chapter 13
Author's Note: I do not own The Hunger Games
The 12th Hunger Games was one that was memorable, both for Bloodbath and the eventual Victor, Tammy. For the 13th Hunger Games, the Arena was to be a farm. Of course, the most memorable Tributes that year was Juniper Haaland of District 7, whose older sister, Hazel, was one of the first Tributes in the Games, and the brilliantly named male Tribute from District 6, who, in the Interviews, stated that he was named after some famous sailor. Upon hearing that, some Capitolites, knowing the fate of his long-dead partial namesake, opted not to Sponsor him.
The Tributes:
District 1: Molly Frost (18), Fabrege Tella (18)
District 2: Venus Kroenke (18), Squire Morelle (18)
District 3: Thora Andam (16), Zap Yongge (13)
District 4: Jennifer Bale (17), Maurice Kendall (16). Mentor: Mags Flanagan (18)
District 5: Kellie Rutherford (14), Graham Darling (14). Mentor: Tammy Wincheter (17)
District 6: Laura Norwood (16), Tingle Wilde (16)
District 7: Juniper Haaland (16), Raphael Lukic (15)
District 8: Vinyl Worthley (13), Brett McCallum (13)
District 9: Maisie Zephyr (15), Sorghum Yates (17)
District 10: Mare Dani (18), Mustang Raikov (14)
District 11: Eleanor Rice (17), Bramble Benham (16)
District 12: Eden Farrel (15), Devon Dent (16)
The Games:
As the twenty four Tributes stood in a field, a barn behind them. As the gong went off, the District 1 and 2 Tributes ran to the Cornucopia and picked up the weapons while a number of Tributes fled into the surrounding farmland. It wasn't long before the first kill was made, one of which would eventually result in the deaths of four Tributes, as Fabrege Tella speared a frightened boy from District 10.
24th: Mustang Raikov, District 10. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Fabrege. Bloodbath.
As Mustang fell onto the ground, a pair of District 8 Tributes spotted a large bag. As they grabbed the bag they found themselves cornered by Squire of 2, who with his broadword, hacked off the girl's arm and chopped off the boy's legs, leaving the pair to bleed out.
23rd: Vinyl Worthley, District 8. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Squire. Bloodbath
22nd: Brett McCallum, District 8. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Squire. Bloodbath.
Molly grabbed an axe, and armed with it, ran towards the nearest Tribute. The small boy from District 3 barely had time to turn around before his life was ended after Molly axed him in the back.
21st: Zap Yongge, District 3. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Molly. Bloodbath.
The final kill was made by Venus Kroenke, when, after procuring a boy and a quiver of arrows, shot at a girl from District 4. The girl crumpled to the ground, her life over.
20th: Jennifer Bale, District 4. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Venus. Bloodbath
The reminder of Day 1 passed by without incident, with the remaining Tributes spending the rest of the day getting their bearings. It was during the first night that the tradition of showing the faces of the dead in the sky began, an idea implemented by Coriolanus Snow. Laura Norwood and Tingle Wilde, the District 6 Tributes, looked out of the barn window at the sight of a projection in the sky, while the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes noted on who they killed. Thora of District 3 noted that her District Partner was gone, while Maurice sobbed over the girl he grew close to during thir time in the Capitol. Kellie and Graham felt a sense of dread, while Juniper and Raphael noted that one District had already gone. Sorghum wrapped his arms around Maisie, while Mare of District 10 had tears in her eyes. In the fields, Eleanor and Bramble watched without making a sound. Finally Eden and Devon sat with a sense of relief that they had made it away from the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes. As the face of Mustang faded, the rest of the Tributes began to settle down for the night.
Overnight, Mare spotted a barn in the distance, and as she approached it she felt a spear enter her back. Pain shot through the girl as she collapsed to the ground in agony, her body still as the sun rose to mark the second day in the Arena.
19th: Mare Dani, District 10. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Fabrege. Day 2.
The sound of a Hovercraft was what woke the remaining Tributes as it arrived to collect Mare's body. What many Tributes that was left didn't realise was the fact the Hovercraft was on test for their use as transport and to collect the dead. Waking up, Laura looked through the window and watched as Mare's corpse and the spear that killed her was hoisted into the Hovercraft. Blinking, Laura saw the Hovercraft had vanished. As the rest of Day 2 progressed Fabrege and Squire allied with each other as they searched for Tributes. It didn't take the boys long to find a pair of Tributes. Eden shuddered with fear as the tall, powerful boys drew their weapons out. Devon, sensing his District Partner's fear, yelled at her to run. Eden sprinted into the wheat fields as Fabrege and Squire dug their weapons into the District 12 boy, only stopping once the boy lay dead in a pool of blood.
18th: Devon Dent, District 12. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Fabrege and Squire. Day 2
Meanwhile, as the boys was killing Devon, the girls from Districts 1 and 2 teamed up to try and find a Tribute to kill. As Eden fled through the woods Molly prepared her bow and arrow, and fired through the wheat, striking the District 12 girl in the neck.
17th: Eden Farrel, District 12. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Molly. Day 2
Back at the barn, Tingle of District 6 found a badly injured Tribute, Graham of District 5. Graham pleaded to Tingle to kill him, and the District 6 boy slashed his throat.
16th: Graham Darling, District 5. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Tingle. Day 2.
As Tingle lay flowers over Graham's body, the girls from Districts 1 and 2 had ambushed a pair of Tributes hiding in the wheat field. A few minutes of screams and slashes later ended with District 11 out of the running.
15th: Bramble Benham, District 11. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Molly and Venus. Day 2
14th: Eleanor Rice, District 11. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Molly and Venus. Day 2
The rest of Day 2 passed by without any more deaths. On Day 3, Maisie Zephyr climbed over the fence into the field, where she was cornered by a massive Bull Mutt. The mutt charged at her, and as she attempted to flee into the barn, the mutt impaled her. As she bled out, Sorghum looked for his District Partner, only stopping once her Cannon sounded.
13th: Maisie Zephyr, Districy 9. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Bull Mutt. Day 3
Maisie's death would mark the beginning of a day that, by the end of it, would be down to one Tribute. As Maisie was dying in agony, the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes began searching for the remaining Tributes. The first Tribute they came across is the girl from District 3. As the girl sobbed in fear Squire got his broadsword, and in a single stroke, cut the girl's head off.
12th: Thora Andam, District 3. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Squire. Day 3.
As the District 1 and 2 Tributes continued to search for further Tributes, back at the barn, the door had burst open, prompting a stampede of Cattle Mutts towards the District 6 Tributes. Laura, who had just woke up at the commotion, felt a heavy weight step on her, crushing her.
11th: Laura Norwood, District 6. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Cattle Mutts. Day 3.
Leaping onto the hay bales outside, Tingle ran into the distance, trying to get a distance between himself and the Cattle Mutts as another Cannon fired; Tingle didn't know the Cannon was for the District 5 girl, who was stabbed in the chest by Fabrege's knife.
10th: Kellie Rutherford, District 5. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Fabrege. Day 3.
The Cattle Mutts were still on Tingle's trail. A pair of District 7 Tributes were unlucky to be in the path of the Mutts, and both soon ended up as unrecognisable corpses.
9th: Raphael Lukic, District 7. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Cattle Mutts. Day 3
8th: Juniper Haaland, District 7. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Cattle Mutts. Day 3
Unaware of the chaos of the Cattle Mutts and the District 6 boy, the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes cornered a boy. With three arrow shots to the thigh, abdomen and chest, District 9's hopes of a Victor died as well.
7th: Sorghum Yates, District 9. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Venus. Day 3.
As the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes walked away from Sorghum's body, Fabrege asked Molly "So who's left?"
"Us four, boy from 4 and boy from 6." As Molly said this Maurice Kendall and Tingle Wilde ran past them, chased by a herd of Cattle Mutts. "Wait-" Fabrege was about to say, before crumpling to the ground. Realising they had better run, Molly, Squire and Venus ran towards the Cornucopia.
6th: Fabrege Tella, District 1. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Maurice. Day 3
As the five fleeing Tributes climbed on the Cornucopia, they found themselves surrounded by the Cattle Mutts. Squire glared at the District 6 Tribute, and in a scene that would later be repeated in the 74th Hunger Games, he pushed Tingle off the Cornucopia and into the Cattle Mutts. Venus, upon seeing the Mutts start to tear the boy apart, equipped her bow and arrows and shot the boy through his head, throat and heart; the third arrow prompted the Cattle Mutts to back away from the Cornucopia.
5th: Tingle Wilde, District 6. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Venus and Cattle Mutts. Day 3.
Molly picked up her axe, and with anger boiling inside her, started to make her move. Lucky Flickerman would later describe the finale of the 13th Hunger Games as "A savage, but memorable finale, and one that would become influential in terms of a bloody finale"; in her rage, and like a berserker, Molly slashed and hacked at the final three Tributes, to the point that by the time their Cannons went off, they were in pieces.
4th: Venus Kroenke, District 2. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Molly. Day 3
3rd: Maurice Kendall, District 4. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Molly. Day 3
2nd: Squire Morell, District 2. 13th Hunger Games. Killed by Molly. Day 3.
As her rage subsided, Molly could see she was covered in blood, and as Squire's Cannon rang across the Arena she heard the Anthem of Panem being played. "Your Victor. Molly Frost of District 1"
VICTOR: Molly Frost, District 1. 13th Hunger Games.
Aftermath:
Molly would be remembered for her Mentoring skills, successfully bringing home seven Tributes in total; amongst the Tributes she would train included Treasure Parlour, Edgar's youngest daughter. Her firm, but fair Mentoring would make her formidable. Even after handing the Mentoring reins to Cashmere and Gloss, she would often encourage other District 1 Mentors. Molly would be one of the Victors killed in the Victors' Purge. The finale of the 13th Hunger Games was voted "Greatest Hunger Games Moment" by the magazine "Victors Gossip" shortly before the Third Quarter Quell. This was the first Games in which a Tribute born after the Treaty of Treason would compete.
Victor's List:
1st: Edgar Parlour (District 1)
