Many years after the Mockingjay Rebellion, Panem Museum's director Mercedes Vonheli receives a collection of "Master tapes" of the Hunger Games, and decided to write a history book about each Games as well as the culture and society of Panem. 15. The Orchard Arena

75 Years Chapter 15

Author's Note: I do not own The Hunger Games

Following the dramatic finale of the 14th Hunger Games, Head Gamemaker Volumnia Gaul announced that the 15th Hunger Games will be her last Hunger Games as Head Gamemaker, with a successor in place by the time the 16th Games start. The Arena was designed as an orchard to provide the Tributes with a source of food.

The Tributes:

District 1: Apatite Trump (18), Bronze St. Laurent (16). Mentor: Molly Frost (19)

District 2: Augusta Hopkins (16), Sirius Dobson (17)

District 3: Volta Lovelace (16), Barak Zukerburg (13)

District 4: Belinay Chasson (15), Gull Wharton (15). Mentor: Mags Flanagan (20)

District 5: Aella Tesch (13), Romney Sachar (17). Mentor: Tammy Winchester (20)

District 6: Emilia Wilson (15), Bartlett Zusak (15)

District 7: Annika Upson (15), Ezekiel Palma (15). Mentor: Dinah West (17)

District 8: Paillette Rooney (14), Blue Martinelli (15)

District 9: Kirsty Darvill (16), Bulgur Shaw (15)

The Games:

The Tributes stood in a circle around the Cornucopia, in the middle of a grassy clearing surrounded from all sides by fruit trees stretching as far as the eye can see. As the gong rang some Tributes fled into the trees, while the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes stood in front of the horn. Armed with a sword, Sirius struck down a small girl who was carrying a heavy backpack, nearly cutting her in two.

24th: Aella Tesch, District 5. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Sirius. Bloodbath.

Armed with a javelin, Bronze spotted a small boy and hurled it towards him, spearing him through the back.

23rd: Barak Zuckerburg, District 3. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Bronze. Bloodbath

As Bronze speared Barak, Apatite had just finished stabbing a small girl.

22nd: Paillette Rooney, District 8. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Apatite. Bloodbath.

Augusta had ambushed a boy from District 9, and after shoving him to the ground she then stabbed him through the heart, killing him.

21st: Bulgur Shaw, District 9. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Augusta. Bloodbath.

A loud scream echoed as Sirius shoved a skinny girl from District 10 to the ground. As Chelsea attempted to get back up Sirius' attention was turned elsewhere only to see Bronze collapse on the floor, a spear through his body.

20th: Bronze St. Laurent, District 1. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Cheddar. Bloodbath.

At that moment, angry at the death of her District Partner, Apatite lashed out at Augusta; with her knife, she slashed Augusta's throat.

19th: Augusta Hopkins, District 2. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Apatite. Bloodbath

Now angry at Augusta's death, Sirius grabbed Apatite and slammed her to the ground. Drawing out his sword, he then ran it through the District 1 girl's waist, cutting her in half.

18th: Apatite Trump, District 1. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Sirius. Bloodbath.

With the Bloodbath now over, Sirius picked up Apatite's knife, Augusta's dagger and an axe, before setting off to find the other Tributes.

As the anthem played that night, Birdie and Brock of District 12 looked at each other in a state of shock that three of the favourites are dead, while the rest of the Tributes felt a sigh of relief that the only dangerous Tribute they have to face is Sirius. As the picture of Bulgur vanished, Brock decided that the next day, he should try and find the remaining Tributes to call an alliance until Sirius is dealt with.

The next day, Brock and Birdie teamed up with the Districts 11 and 10 Tributes, with the Tributes agreeing not to kill each other until Sirius is dead. In the Gamemakers Room, Gaul was furious. Muttering about "that Hennessey kid", she startled everyone else in the room. While Gaul was ranting, Volta of District 3 had encountered Romney of District 5, Blue of District 8 and Kirsty of District 9, and the four formed an alliance. By the end of Day 2, the District 4 Tributes had allied with the Tributes from Districts 6 and 7. All three alliances had the same goal: to track, trap and kill Sirius, which by the fifth day, resulted in an alliance of sixteen Tributes. The "Super Alliance" of the 15th Hunger Games would become the only "Super Alliance" in Hunger Games history. The Tributes used everything they can find to keep Sirius confined to the Cornucopia in the hope he starves to death. On Day 7, growing restless, Dr Gaul unleased a storm to flush out the "Super Alliance". Unfortunately for her, all the Tributes in the trees had clung on to the branches, and all the storm did was wash away the supplies in the horn. By Day 10, Gaul was on the edge. Since the opening Bloodbath, there has been zero action in the Arena. By Day 18, and with Sirius trapped, Gaul decided to unleash a fireball into the Arena. A large ball emerged, and without warning, fire rained down over the Tributes. By the time the firestorm ended just two Tributes was left alive.

As the firestorm ended Kronos, heavily covered in soot, climbed down the trees and saw that Sirius is on the brink of death. Drawing out his knife, he slit Sirius' neck in an act of mercy.

2nd: Sirius Dobson, District 2. 15th Hunger Games. Killed by Kronos. Day 18

Glancing around, Kronos saw that he was the last Tribute left as the trumpets rang out.

1st: Kronos Jackson, District 11. 15th Hunger Games. VICTOR

Aftermath: The last Hunger Games overseen by Volumnia Gaul wasn't how she expected her tenure as Gamemaker to end, with a "Super Alliance" and the tightly packed Arena. An Inquiry was held, with the Arena designer and his team sentenced to death and a promise by newly promoted Coriolanus Snow that future Arenas must have large enough spaces for the Tributes to manoeuvre within the Arena confines, with the upcoming 16th Hunger Games Arena set to have plenty of space. The Arena for the games after that had to be redesigned because of the fiasco. District 11 was happy to get their second Victor, and Kronos would go on to Mentor Seeder, before dying in the Victors' Purge. One of his children would marry the nephew of his District Partner, and from that relationship would result in six children, one of which would kickstart the fall of the Games. The Gamemakers, from that point on, only interfered in the Games on three occasions.

This chapter was difficult to write, but I decided to go with Gamemaker interference. Thus the end of the Dr. Gaul Era, and the next chapter will see the beginning of Snow's tenure as Gamemaker. Recently I have been hit by spam in my Inbox and reviews, so I decided to delete my account in the future as I have reported the spam but it hasn't been removed.
