Many years after the Mockingjay Rebellion, Panem Museum's director Mercedes Vonheli receives a collection of "Master tapes" of the Hunger Games, and decided to write a history book about each Games as well as the culture and society of Panem. 16. The Alpine Arena

75 Years Chapter 16

Author's Note: I do not own The Hunger Games

The 16th Hunger Games marked the beginning of Coriolanus Snow's era as Head Gamemaker, a role he would hold for the following twenty years. At the beginning of May, he set off on an inspection of the Alpine Arena where the Games that year would take place, and after approving the Arena, the stage was set. That year would mark the beginning of Betting Odds, where the Odds of a Tribute would be calculated based on factors during Training. The Betting Odds of the Tributes are listed.

The Tributes took in their surroundings as they waited for the countdown to end as they stood in a circle around the Cornucopia, the snow falling lightly. As the gong rang Sagitta, one of the Tributes with the highest odds, grabbed a sword and cornered a frightened boy, the first of twelve Tributes who, by the end of the Bloodbath, would stain the ground red.

24th: Ociel Musk, District 3. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Sagitta. Bloodbath

Hersilia Bride was in a fight with a tall boy from District 6. The boy grabbed his knife and plunged it into the girl's chest, killing her

23rd: Hersilia Bride, District 4. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Owen. Bloodbath

Anchor looked up to see the corpse of his District Partner lying in the snow, and angrily, slashed at a small girl from District 6.

22nd: Iseult Lowe, District 6. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Anchor. Bloodbath

A small girl from District 10 was on the receiving end of a spear thrown by Justus

21st: Bria Hartley, District 10. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Justus. Bloodbath

Two more deaths would come in quick succession, both at the hands of the District 1 Tributes.

20th: Vivian Higgins, District 9. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Aquamarine. Bloodbath

19th: Radish Humble, District 9. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Brucite. Bloodbath

Strapping a vest of throwing knives on, Sagitta threw three knives at a trio of Tributes, cheering when they struck their targets.

18th: Avel Stein, District 5. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Sagitta. Bloodbath

17th: Umeme Manville, District 3. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Sagitta. Bloodbath

16th: Violet Gore, District 8. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Sagitta. Bloodbath

In the Mentor Room, Kronos froze in shock as Brucite stabbed his sister to death

15th: Lyla Jackson, District 11. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Brucite. Bloodbath

Carob, seeing his District Partner die, then picked up a sword and ran it through Brucite's chest

14th: Brucite Naples, District 1. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Carob. Bloodbath

The final kill of the Bloodbath was made by Aquamarine, who saw Brucite lying on the ground dead. Spotting Carob, she threw him to the ground before hacking him to pieces.

13th: Carob Chambers, District 11. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Aquamarine. Bloodbath

With half the Tributes now dead, excitement for the Games would ramp up in The Capitol as a flurry of Sponsorships and gifts began coming in. On Day 2, a Tribute fell from the mountain into a ravine as he gave chase to Owen.

12th: Anchor Calafiori, District 4. 16th Hunger Games. Fall. Day 2

However, what Owen didn't expect was the three strongest Tributes, and they began to hack at him until he was a pile of flesh.

11th: Owen Lightoller, District 6. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Aquamarine, Sagitta and Justus, Day 2.

Feeling bored after killing Owen, Aquamarine spotted a pair of Tributes. Rushing at them, she unsheathed her sword and knocked down the girl, hacking her to death.

10th: Corkie Rhyder, District 7. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Aquamarine, Day 2

As Aquamarine made her way to Sagitta and Justus, she saw that the boy from 7 had his weapon. Within seconds, he buried it deep in the girl's head.

9th: Aquamarine St. Laurent, District 1. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Gabriel. Day 2.

The Final Eight had been decided: Sagitta Evans of District 2, Justus Tuchel of District 2, Aethra O'Callaghan of District 5, Gabriel Duckett of District 7, Woof Casino of District 8, Dartmoor March of District 10, Terrai Gill of District 12 and Declan Wheatley of District 12.

On Day 4, the sound of a Cannon echoed as the sun rose. Justus had killed a Tribute in their sleep.

8th: Aethra O'Callaghan, District 5. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Justus. Day 4.

Later that day, Goat Mutts was released into the Arena, resulting in two Tributes being killed.

7th: Sagitta Evans, District 2. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Goat Mutts. Day 4

6th: Justus Tuchel, District 2. 16th Hunger Games. Killed by Goat Mutts. Day 4

As night approached on Day 4, a blizzard kicked up. By morning, a Tribute froze to death in his sleeping bag.

5th: Gabriel Duckett, District 7. 16th Hunger Games. Hypothermia. Day 5

The rest of Day 5 passed without incident as another blizzard kicked up overnight. Woof buried himself into the snow, his thick clothing keeping him warm while the last three Tributes made their way to the Cornucopia. As Day 6 dawned, two Tributes perished through starvation.

4th: Terrai Gill, District 12. 16th Hunger Games. Starvation. Day 6

3rd: Declan Wheatley, District 12. 16th Hunger Games. Starvation. Day 6

As night fell on Day 6, Dartmoor tripped over a rock and fell into the ravine.

2nd: Dartmoor March, District 10. 16th Hunger Games. Fall. Day 6

Woof dug himself out of the snow as the Cannon fired and the sound of fanfare echoed.

1st: Woof Casino, District 8. 16th Hunger Games. VICTOR

Aftermath:

Woof would become one of the few Victors to win without killing anyone, and he would live up until the Third Quarter Quell. Most notably, he would become the first Tribute born after the Dark Days to win the Hunger Games. Woof would go on to Mentor the District 8 Tributes up until the 66th Hunger Games, when he was diagnosed with dementia. The 16th Hunger Games would prove to be a success.
