Following the success of the last two Games, Head Gamemaker Coriolanus Snow hopes the Arena for the 18th Hunger Games will be unforgettable. The Tributes were a mix, with the standout being Maxmillian Jaaskelainen, the male Tribute of District 1; should he win, he would be the oldest Tribute to win The Hunger Games to date, having been born a few weeks after the 1st Hunger Games. Another link with the 1st Hunger Games would be found in District 2, when Adolphus Turner, cousin to Rocky, Volunteered in the place of a younger Tribute

As the Tributes stood around the Cornucopia, the gong rang, sending them on a mad dash through the volcanic land. Peridot and Maxmillian teamed up with Hermione and Adolphus as the four of them accounted for the twelve Bloodbath deaths. Seconds after the gong rang, the first blood was spilt when Peridot sliced a small girl from behind.
24th: Alizee Zengel, District 5. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Peridot. Bloodbath.
As Peridot killed Alizee, Hermione strapped on a vest of throwing knives. It was these throwing knives that made up most of the Bloodbath kills, Hermione being a skilled javelin thrower back in District 2. Pulling out six of the knives, the District 2 girl began throwing them. Compared to future knife throwers such as Clove Menkin from the 74th Hunger Games, Hermione's success rate is 99%, making her the best knife thrower in Hunger Games history, and the 18th Hunger Games would prove that to be the case. All six knives struck their targets.

As Hermione used her throwing knives, Adolphus had stabbed a dark-skinned girl to death.

Before long, Maxmillian would add another Tribute to the Bloodbath list.
16th: Craig Giraldi, District 10. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Maxmillian. Bloodbath
At this point District 7's hopes of making it to three Victors would be ended as Adolphus speared their boy.
15th: Paul Dooley, District 7. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Adolphus. Bloodbath.
Maxmillian would add another kill to his list as he stabbed a fleeing girl holding a kukri.
14th: Millicent Kendall, District 4. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Maxmillian. Bloodbath
Peridot had finished slicing up a girl, who had been thrown to the ground early in the fighting.
13th: Anna Chapdelaine, District 9. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Peridot. Bloodbath.
Filled with anger about seeing his District Partner die in front of him, Nobby shoved Peridot into the lava.
12th: Peridot Bennett, District 1. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Nobby. Bloodbath.
As the Bloodbath ended, Maxmillian hacked down a girl who had been burned by the lava while escaping from the Bloodbath.
11th: Clotch Crompton, District 8. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Maxmillian. Day 1.
As Day 2 dawned, Hermione had found a pair of sleeping Tributes. Throwing her knives at them, both Tributes barely had time to react before slipping into an eternal sleep.
10th: Zapana Young, District 3. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Hermione. Day 2
9th: Mozzarella Ambrose, District 10. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Hermione. Day 2.
The Final Eight had been decided: Maxmillian Jaaskelainen of District 1, Hermione Kerr of District 2, Adolphus Turner of District 2, Guppy Odair of District 4, Rusty Fitchett of District 6, Nobby Carmichael of District 9, Dragon Nielson of District 11 and Fife Crook of District 12.
Day 3 was relatively quiet as the Final Eight Interviews were conducted. Overnight, the air started to smell sulphuric, causing two Tributes to suffocate in their sleep.

As morning broke on Day 4, nobody expected that the Games would be over by the end of the day. The ball would start rolling when Hermione threw her knives into a pair of boys resting on a rock.

5th: Guppy Odair, District 4. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Hermione. Day 4
As Hermione arrived back at the camp she watched as Maxmillian sheathed his sword. "I'm sorry, but one of us have to go home" Maxmillian muttered as he pointed his sword at Adolphus. Without warning, he sliced open Adolphus' chest.
4th: Adolphus Turner, District 2. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Maxmillian. Day 4
Hermione yelled loudly "You Traitor" as she aimed her throwing knives at the District 1 male. Maxmillian parried the knives before decapitating the girl.
3rd: Hermione Kerr, District 2. 18th Hunger Games. Killed by Maxmillian. Day 4
Realising that only one Tribute was left, Maxmillian would soon encounter Nobby. In the ensuring fight that followed, there was always going to be one winner after several hours, and for the Capitolites that betted on Nobby Carmichael, the Games ended in disappointment for them.

In District 1, celebrations abound as the District realised that they have overtaken Districts 2, 7, 8 and 11 on the Victors Chart.
1st: Maxmillian Jaaskelainen, District 1. 18th Hunger Games. VICTOR
Aftermath:
With Maxmillian's victory, District 1 would become the first District to have three Victors. In fact, it's said that within a few hours of Maxmillian's victory, one person placed a bet on whether District 1 would gain a Victor in the 19th Hunger Games. Maxmillian himself would live until the aftermath of the 75th Hunger Games, where he would end up a casualty of the Victors' Purge. In his last moments, Maxmillian showed courage as he is executed by the Capitol. Every year, on August 18th, the memorial on the former site of the Arena of the 18th Hunger Games would be decked with cakes, the date being his birthday. I didn't even know I shared the same birthday as him until I researched his life post-Games. As Maxmillian Jaaskelainen would later say "Celebrity isn't worth it" with his post-Games life being in the limelight. In District 1, Maxmillian is remembered for his humility and bravery, but also for establishing a foundation that empowered disadvantaged kids, so much so that every November, there is a telethon that raises money for the foundation, and in the new era of Panem, there are calls to declare his birthday as "National Charity Day". A fitting legacy to a Victor who spent his whole life for charity.
