75 Years Chapter 21

Following the success of the 20th Hunger Games, Snow hoped the 21st Hunger Games would have action. The Arena itself was a heather moorland, which, as an old book on landscapes of the world had said, was even rarer than rainforest, in that it was restricted to an archipelago of islands in the Atlantic. During the 16th Hunger Games, Snow and his team would start work on the Arenas for the 21st through to 30th Hunger Games. He learned that heather flowered in the summer and planted thousands of plants in the Arena; Red Grouse Mutts, based on the birds that used to roam the moorland prior to The Dark Days, were created using long-frozen DNA from the birds. Mountain hares was amongst the creatures created for the Arena.

The Games:
The Tributes emerged to a scenery filled with heather. Mountain hares and red grouse frolicked among the bushes, as the silver Cornucopia shimmered in the sun. As the gong rang Lucillia and Alexei ran to the Cornucopia, with Ametrine and Cartier joining them seconds later. Grabbing a sword, Ametrine ran it through a Tribute clutching a backpack, the Tribute being one of the eight whose blood would stain the heather red.
24th: Erjon Feist, District 5. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Ametrine. Bloodbath
Alexei picked up a large sword, and used it to cleave off the head of a Tribute carrying a small backpack
23rd: Marconi Powell, District 3. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Alexei. Bloodbath
Alexei would make a second kill, stabbing a girl from District 7 through the stomach.
22nd: Branchlynn Allen, District 7. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Alexei. Bloodbath
As Alexei killed Branchlynn, Cartier picked up a spear and speared two Tributes with it, wiping out District 12 in the process.
21st: Charlotte Piper, District 12. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Cartier. Bloodbath
20th: Terry Dendonker, District 12. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Cartier. Bloodbath
Lucillia picked up a knife, and with it, stabbed a slight boy in the chest
19th: Corn Deary, District 9. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Lucillia. Bloodbath
Removing the weapon, Lucillia then slashed a small girl's throat
18th: Cotton Jenrick, District 8. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Lucillia. Bloodbath
The final kill of the Bloodbath was made by Ametrine, who stabbed a girl wielding a spear.
17th: Kendall Verstappen, District 4. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Ametrine. Bloodbath.
As the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes regrouped, the other Tributes scattered into the moorland. As night approached, a girl died amongst the heather, a result of her injuries she sustained in the Bloodbath.
16th: Bluebell Rice, District 11. 21st Hunger Games. Injuries. Night 1
Day 2 dawned to the sound of a Cannon. Lucillia had slain a sleeping Tribute in their sleep.
15th: Wirelett Andam, District 3. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Lucillia. Day 2
Later on Day 2, the Mountain hares emerged and started to attack a trio of Tributes, gnawing at them until all three succumbed to their wounds.
14th: Chicory MacFarlane, District 9. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Mountain hare mutts. Day 2
13th: Rouse Croft, District 10. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Mountain hare mutts. Day 2
12th: Dion Sullivan, District 11. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Mountain hare mutts. Day 2
The final death of Day 2 would occur late afternoon, when Alexei hacked the limbs off a small boy.
11th: Pulley Withers, District 8. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Alexei. Day 2
With the games entering the third day, the buzz in the Capitol was at fever pitch as a flurry of Sponsorships flew in. Meanwhile, in the Arena, the Districts 1 and 2 Tributes had come across a smaller Tribute. Armed with their weapons, they hacked and slashed at him, only stopping once the Cannon fired.
10th: Treck Moore, District 7. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Ametrine, Cartier, Lucillia and Alexei. Day 3
A few moments later, another Cannon fired as a girl died of wounds she sustained because of the Mountain hare mutts.
9th: Tantualla Tesch, District 5. 21st Hunger Games. Wounds. Day 3.
The Final Eight had been decided: Ametrine Grande of District 1, Cartier Duncan of District 1, Lucillia Kerr of District 2, Alexei Gandy of District 2, Malik Hammond of District 4, Keira Glosswill of District 6, Dougal Irons of District 6 and Alstaia Ramsdale of District 10.
Day 4 passed by without deaths, but on Day 5 Lucillia spotted a trio of Tributes. Armed with a bow and some arrows, she fired it towards the trio, crowing when the arrows hit their targets.
8th: Alstaia Ramsdale, District 10. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Lucillia. Day 5
7th: Dougal Irons, District 6. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Lucillia. Day 5
6th: Keira Glosswill, District 6. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Lucillia. Day 5.
What Lucillia didn't realise was that Malik had sneaked into the camp, and as soon as Lucillia arrived, he stabbed Ametrine in the gut.
5th: Ametrine Grande, District 1. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Malik. Day 5
Malik fled as a fight between the three strongest Tributes began. Cartier, filled with rage, stabbed Lucillia several times until the Cannon fired.
4th: Lucillia Kerr, District 2. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Cartier. Day 5
Seeing red at the death of his District Partner, Alexei shoved Cartier to the ground, and with his sword, sliced the boy open.
3rd: Cartier Duncan, District 1. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Alexei. Day 5
Getting up, Alexei then gave chase, hoping to find Malik. Sure enough, as the sun began to set he had cornered Malik, and with a single stroke, decapitated the District 4 boy.
2nd: Malik Hammond, District 4. 21st Hunger Games. Killed by Alexei. Day 5
Looking around, Alexei heard trumpets and the Hovercraft as he was lifted out of the Arena.
1st: Alexei Gandy, District 2. 21st Hunger Games. VICTOR
Aftermath:
Alexei's Victory was celebrated in District 2. Known for his tough attitude when it came to Mentoring, he would later be a Trainer at District 2's Academy, eventually dying in the Victors' Purge. Towards the end of his life, Alexei would start to harbour a hatred of the Hunger Games, a hatred he would nurture in Lyme and Enobaria.
With Alexei's Victory, District 2 is top of the Victors list, overtaking District 1.
