75 Years Chapter 27

Author's Note: I do not own The Hunger Games

Following from the 26th Hunger Games, the Gamemakers decided to test out a "fantasy" Arena. The idea came when one intern Gamemaker was visiting her mother's house and saw her mother's sewing box. Nonetheless, the "Sewing Box Arena" of the 27th Hunger Games was the most "Out There" Arena. Amongst the Tributes Reaped was Tarpaulin Barde of District 8, who, if he wins, would be the first Second-Generation Victor. This Games was also notable for the fact in District 3, a pair of cousins was Reaped.

The Tributes:

District 1: Sequin Ogliviy (18), Bacchius Brown (18)

District 2: Artemisia Black (18), Scutum Wallis (18)

District 3: Edwina Thompson (16), Rheneas Rowe (17)

District 4: Moana Dyrdyra (17), Kai Port (17)

District 5: Dangira Milmo (14), Mattias Feist (16)

District 6: Karis Okonkwo (15), Jimmy Irons (14)

District 7: Juniper Allen (15), Michael Appleton (16)

District 8: Esther Hatton (13), Tarpaulin Barde (17)

District 9: Maple Deary (14), Cress Arestrup (15)

District 10: Jersey March (15), Rotwein McCann (13)

District 11: Rose Benham (15), Tad Shelvey (14)

District 12: Tessa Dench (17), Patric Crook (16)

The Games:

As the Tributes arrived, they noticed that the weapons were instead sewing equipment, while the Cornucopia was a giant thimble. No sooner than the gong rang did the District 3 cousins picked up some interfacing fabric, itself a net, and ran just as the Careers teamed up. Armed with a large pin, Bacchius speared a small girl from District 8.

24th: Esther Hatton, District 8. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Bacchius. Bloodbath.

Tarpaulin, horrified at his District Partner's death, lunged forward towards Bacchius. Seconds later, Bacchius had overpowered the boy and speared him.

23rd: Tarpaulin Barde, District 8. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Bacchius. Bloodbath

Scutum had speared through a tall girl from District 7.

22nd: Juniper Allen, District 7. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Scutum. Bloodbath.

Artemisia of 2 made her first kill, spearing a boy from the agriculture District through the neck.

21st: Tad Shelvey, District 11. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Artemisia. Bloodbath.

The next kill would be made by Sequin, who stabbed a small girl in the back.

20th: Maple Deary, District 9. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Sequin. Bloodbath.

Another Tribute bled out, a pin to the gut.

19th: Michael Appleton, District 7. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Artemisia. Bloodbath

Scutum had speared a girl with dark hair.

18th: Tessa Dench, District 12. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Scutum. Bloodbath.

Another boy would be killed, stabbed to death by a pin.

17th: Mattias Feist, District 5. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Bacchius. Bloodbath.

At this point, Scutum had picked up a measuring tape, and pinning the boy from 9 to the ground, began sawing at the boy, prompting the boy to die within seconds.

16th: Cress Arestrup, District 9. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Scutum. Bloodbath.

Picking the tape from Cress' decimated body, Scutum spotted Patric from 12, and attempting to kill him in the same way, he missed. Seeing another Tribute nearby, he put the tape to the boy from 6's neck and swiftly beheaded him in one blow.

15th: Jimmy Irons, District 6. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Scutum. Bloodbath.

With the Bloodbath now ended, the remaining Tributes gathered their bearings and formed alliances. When the death recap was shown that night, Edwina noted the irony that District 8 had lost both their Tributes.

Days 2 and 3 passed by deathless, but on Day 4 Artemisia found a girl, and picking up her pin, stabbed the girl through the heart.

14th: Rose Benham, District 11. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Artemisia. Day 4

Rose's death would mark the beginning of a day that would end with eight Tributes left. Upon returning to where her allies were, Artemisia led them on hunts. The group came across a slight girl from the Transportation District. Bacchius got the pin out and impaled the girl.

13th: Karis Okonkwo, District 6. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Bacchius. Day 4

After Karis' Cannon went off, the Careers found their next victim. Scutum stabbed him with the pin.

12th: Rotwein McCann, District 10. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Scutum. Day 4

Shortly after, Sequin found a cowgirl. Within seconds, Jersey was on the end of the pin.

11th: Jersey March, District 10. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Sequin. Day 4.

Artemisia made her fourth kill of the Games, killing a small girl.

10th: Dangira Milmo, District 5. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Artemisia. Day 4.

Bacchius had by the time Dangira's Cannon fired, killed a boy who managed to avoid being cut in two in the Bloodbath.

9th: Patric Crook, District 12. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Bacchius. Day 4

The Final Eight had been decided: Sequin Ogliviy and Bacchius Brown of District 1, Artemisia Black and Scutum Wallis of District 2, Edwina Thompson and Rheneas Rowe of District 3 and Moana Dyrdyra and Kai Port of District 4.

The sixth day of the Games saw both District 4 Tributes die at the hands of the District 2 pair.

8th: Kai Port, District 4. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Scutum. Day 6

7th: Moana Dyrdyra, District 4. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Artemisia. Day 6

Later that day, Head Gamemaker Coriolanus Snow ordered the porcupine mutts into the Arena, where they quickly swarmed three Tributes and driving the remaining three to the Cornucopia.

6th: Artemisia Black, District 2. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Porcupine Mutts. Day 6

5th: Sequin Ogliviy, District 1. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Porcupine Mutts. Day 6

4th: Scutum Wallis, District 2. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Porcupine Mutts. Day 6.

At the Cornucopia, Bacchius grabbed hold of Edwina tightly. The District 3 girl struggled against Bacchius as she attempted to remove herself from his grasp. Picking up his pin, he stabbed her in front of her cousin.

3rd: Edwina Thompson, District 3. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Bacchius. Day 6

Now angry at his cousin's death, Rheneas drew out his pin and as Bacchius lunged forward, the smaller boy wounded him. Pulling out a rope from his belt, Rheneas slung it around Bacchius' neck, and within moments garrotted the District 1 male.

2nd: Bacchius Brown, District 1. 27th Hunger Games. Killed by Rheneas. Day 6

"Ladies and gentlemen, your Victor for the 27th Hunger Games. Rheneas Rowe of District 3!" The booming voice of Lucky Flickerman rang out as the fanfare played.

1st: Rheneas Rowe, District 3. 27th Hunger Games. VICTOR.

The Victor silently went to the corpse of his cousin, tears in his eyes.

Aftermath:

District 3 welcomed Rheneas with open arms, but they mourned Edwina. Like many Victors of his era, Rheneas would befriend them, often participating in drinking contests against Caelus Harris of District 2 and winning. As Mentor, he became notable for being the only Mentor to successfully mentor a sibling to victory as Paris Curl never Mentored Hestia and Gloss Ritchson was assigned the District 1 boy in Cashmere's Games. Rheneas would die during the Victors' Purge, where along with the other District 3 Mentors, committed suicide via Nightlock juice.

District has more than one Victor

Yes, I was indeed inspired by my own sewing box when I planned out the Arena. The porcupines are based on pincushions, with many of the tools reassigned as weapons. I plan to do a chapter from Edwina's POV in Different Perspectives. Yes, there is some foreshadowing. Caleus may be a Hunger Games Victor, but he can never win a drinking contest.
