Chapter 2: Funeral for a Friend
A Month Later a funeral was held at Gotham Divinity Church for Lucius his wife, youngest son, even Tiffany were there in deep grief.
Alfred Pennyworth was there when he heard of Lucius's sudden tragedy in Metropolis on the news…
He couldn't just let it slide given Lucius and him were close as well.
He stood by the coffin grief striction giving his years with Bruce before he feared for his life and burying him but instead it had to be Lucius.
Sadden with his arms crossed he looked down at Lucius's framed picture…
"I'm so sorry old friend. I let my guard down on everything. Abandoning Bruce nearly cost me him as well. And now this. But you don't have to worry Lucius. I'm gonna take care of your family as if they were my own. Just like I…took care of Bruce." Alfred said sadly.
Soon enough Tiffany came by him with tears falling off her cheeks.
"Tiffany I'm…I'm deeply sorry for your loss." Alfred said.
"I just…I can't believe he's gone. None of this can't be possible. He was hardly home much. I can't even remember the last time he and I spent any time together. And now…he's really gone." Tiffany said.
"I knew a boy like you once. I did everything in my power to help him through it." Alfred said.
"Bruce?" Tiffany asked.
Alfred nodded.
"I saw him, Alfred. He was there." Tiffany said.
"Bruce?" Alfred asked.
Tiffany then nods which made Alfred pause in thought what was Bruce doing in Metropolis last he saw him he was in a better life with Selina were they in the wrong place at the wrong time…
Did he even know about…Lucius?
Next thing Tiffany sniffed as she held it together.
Tiffany couldn't bare to say it and didn't need Alfred to comfort the distraught teenage girl in a hug…
"There just let it out young madam." Alfred said sadly.
Tiffany cried hard on Alfred's chest as he comforted her tightly…
But from a distance Bruce bearded and in a long coat stood by the entrance of the church he saw Alfred comforted…
Alfred then eyed over to the file and frowned seeing him there.
Bruce stared back he hadn't seen Alfred since the Cafe but again they hadn't said anything to each other but both knew they had to be here for Lucius and his family.
Soon as the service started they all sat down as the priest began to give his speech.
"Today we honor the memory of Lucius Fox. We were friends. Husband and father. Lucius Fox was a fine man wise and the best at heart. All his life he dedicated all his life to show faith in the system of all of Gotham. And he and those who died with him will be both sorely missed and be comforted by our lord always." Priest said.
As the priest spoke Bruce thought back to Metropolis which fueled his anger remembering seeing Superman in the sky.
Bruce once again promised Superman would pay for this if it took everything he had but the only way possible Bruce would have to redrawn as Batman knowing Alfred wouldn't like that but what other choice would he have…
It's not like he has Selina to go back to anymore, not after what happened between them.
The Priest continued his speech.
"And so on and there fourth that we honor the memory of Lucius Fox in his legacy. Lucius may be gone but his memory will live on through all of us. To his friends…and family." Priest said.
Tiffany shed another tear but had an angry expression…
Tiffany had vengeance on her mind and fire in her eyes also blaming Superman for her father's death she remembered when Zod's message and giving Lucius's death happened during the invasion.
Only thing Tiffany could blame…was Superman and wanted nothing more than to kill him.
Alfred on the other hand was concerned of Bruce being here but guilty, giving he left Bruce while Gotham was in danger by Bane.
Bruce lost the money broken in half and attempted a sacrifice to save the city since then Alfred never forgave himself since then…
Finally the Priest finished.
"Ashes to ashes dust to dust. May Lucius Fox rest in peace." Priest said.
Bruce was to leave till he was confronted by an unknown woman…
To Be Continued…
