Chapter 8: Sky Chase
While Batman and Robin were distracted by Clownzilla Joker came out to his surprise see's Batman for the first time in years which excited him to laughter.
But he used the hammer clowns' distraction to make a run for it and start up the helicopter just in time before Batman delivers the final blow.
Batman looks over the chopper and sees his enemy from the past smiling at him…
"Joker…" Batman said to Joker.
"Sure missed you Bats. Welcome back…to the game." Joker said to Batman.
Joker's chopper takes off.
"He's getting away." Robin said.
"Not yet he isn't." Batman said.
Batman pressed the center of his belt activating the second Batwing with active autopilot.
The Dynamic Duo grapples up and Batman takes control with Robin sitting behind him and the Bat gives chase after the Joker's chopper.
"How are you here? I thought you were dead." Robin said.
"I'll tell you later. Right now the Joker must be stopped." Batman said.
"I've already notified Gordon. He should have choppers closing in on him." Robin said.
"Good. Alfred, can you patch me to Director Waller?" Batman asked.
"Waller?" Robin asked.
Alfred at the underground garage from TDK was on the Batcomputer online with Bruce.
"Patching through now sir." Alfred said.
At an Agency Base in Metropolis Agent Avesta rushed into Waller's office.
"Director. It's Wayne." Avesta said.
Waller sat up and took the call.
"Batman. What's your status?" Waller asked.
"The Joker's heading South Gotham. Airborne." Batman said.
"Understood. I'll send reinforcements. Waller out." Waller said.
"So you are friends with the feds. I hoped it wasn't true." Robin said.
"They have proven useful so far." Batman said.
"I don't know man…" Robin said.
Soon news of the Batman's return broke out for many saw the Batwing above chasing Joker's chopper…
It was even on the news which Clark and Lois saw the live performance at their apartment…
"Who the…?" Lois asked.
"The Bat Vigilante." Clark said.
"He wouldn't be a friend of yours would he?" Lois asked.
"Not the slightest. I mean from what I read about him his intentions are noble but…I'm not so sure." Clark said.
The chase goes on but Joker puts the chopper on autopilot and grabs one of his favorite toys…a bazooka…
He aims at the Batwing and fires…
Batman pulls up barely avoiding the rocket…
Choppers came flying GCPD to box him in but Joker fires another rocket hitting one of the choppers it crashed down…
"NO!" Robin called.
"Damn him. Continues to kill…like he did Rachel…" Batman said.
Batman was tempted to shoot him down for this but held back for his code Joker took manual control and flew off with the Batwing still on it.
"I hope he runs out of gas." Robin said.
"It's not that simple. With the Joker it never is." Batman said.
The chase flew over the bay. The Joker was heading straight for Chamberlain but then he reactivated and the autopilot grabbed a nearby parashoot…
"Jeronimo! Hahaha!" Joker said.
The Joker pulls it on and dives out laughing causing the chopper to CRASH into a building.
Batman and Robin were in utter shock in the Batwing.
People screamed with the building catching on fire until out of the blue…
…Superman flies over and blows out super breath to put out the fire.
"My God…is that who I think it is?" Robin asked.
The Dark Knight made a serious expression flashbacking to the Metropolis destruction Lucius died in…
After the fire was put out Superman looked up to the Bat making the same serious expression.
The silent stare lasted for the longest moment until Superman zoomed off…
"Who is this guy?" Robin asked.
"The man who murdered Lucius." Batman said.
"Seriously? But didn't he just save those people?" Robin asked.
"I was there that day last year. I came out of hiding to save Lucius myself…all I found was one of my employers…injured…and Tiffany…losing her father." Batman said.
Robin sympathized but wasn't sure if Lucius's death wasn't Superman's intention given they just saw innocent lives from burning…
But where did the Joker escape to?
