"I'm already in a relationship."

The words landed like a thunderclap, silencing the room in an instant.

"Aww, man!" Bonnie groaned dramatically, throwing her arms up in exaggerated defeat.

For a moment, the group stared at May in stunned silence, their collective shock palpable. The lively chatter from before had vanished, replaced by an almost comedic stillness as her friends processed what she'd just said.

Finally, Chloe broke the silence, her voice tinged with incredulity. "Wait, what?! May, you're taken?"

Serena's brows knit together in surprise as she leaned slightly forward, her usually composed demeanor giving way to wide-eyed curiosity. "May, why didn't you tell us before?!"

May shifted in her seat, her expression caught between pride and embarrassment. Her hands rested on the edge of the table as she glanced around at the expectant faces surrounding her. "Well…" She hesitated, brushing a strand of auburn hair behind her ear. "I kind of wanted to keep it on the down-low. You know, just to see how things would go before making a big reveal." She attempted a nonchalant shrug, though the faint blush creeping up her cheeks betrayed her emotions.

"But it's not like I was hiding it," she added with a touch of stubbornness. "You guys never asked."

Dawn's lips curled into a smirk as she leaned her elbows on the table, her chin resting on her clasped hands. "I can't believe I'm the only one who knew about this!" she teased, her tone smug.

"You saw us kissing by accident, that helped."

At the far end of the table, Brock sighed dramatically, his expression a perfect portrait of theatrical melancholy. "Man, I wish I could make announcements like that too…"

Dawn reached over to pat him on the back in mock sympathy. "One day, Brock. One day."

Serena, her excitement bubbling over, leaned in even closer, her voice brimming with intrigue. "Sooo, who's the lucky guy?" she asked slyly, though her tone hinted that she might already have a suspicion.

May glanced at Serena, then at the rest of the group. Ash and Goh exchanged confused glances, clearly out of the loop. Ash muttered a quiet "Who?" under his breath, while Goh tilted his head curiously.

With a deep breath, May finally addressed the growing tension. Her sapphire eyes flickered toward the boys, her expression a mix of amusement and mild exasperation. "You guys really can't tell who it is, huh? Even when it's right in front of your eyes?"

She didn't wait for their response. Instead, with a wave of her hand, she gestured to the boy next to her and said the name that had been on the tip of her tongue. "Drew. It's Drew."

The name lingered in the air for a moment, sparking an immediate wave of reactions.

"Drew?!" Serena's voice was high-pitched with excitement as she clasped her hands together. "Wow! That's amazing, May! Congratulations!"

Chloe chimed in, grinning. "That explains why he's here today with you."

Kiawe, ever the dramatic, grinned broadly and began tapping a rhythmic beat on the table with his hands. "Ooooh! Looks like the beating of love will resonate tonight! Let me celebrate this with the fire of my—"

"Absolutely not!" Serena interrupted, waving her hands frantically to cut him off.

Lillie, smiling warmly, added her own sentiment. "Aw, you two make such a cute coordinator couple!"

Clemont nodded thoughtfully, adjusting his glasses. "Honestly, even without using deduction, we could sense how close you two were."

"May, you've got our full support!" Serena declared cheerfully, her voice ringing with sincerity.

The outpouring of congratulations left May feeling both flustered and touched. She could feel the heat rising to her cheeks, but her smile remained unwavering.

"T-Thanks, guys. I appreciate it—really." She glanced briefly at Drew, who was standing off to the side, before quickly looking back at her friends. "We've been together for a few months now. We also wanted to make sure it would work out before saying anything. I'm glad you're all okay with it."

Drew, who had been observing quietly, finally stepped forward. Though his usual confident demeanor faltered for a moment, he quickly composed himself. "Well," he began, a sheepish smile tugging at his lips, "I guess the secret's out now. Can't deny I'm the lucky man."

He reached over and gently patted May's head, his gesture both teasing and affectionate. May's heart skipped a beat at the contact, but she quickly swatted his hand away, her blush deepening.

"Knock it off, Drew.. You're embarrassing me even more." she said in a mock-annoyed tone, though the sparkle in her eyes betrayed her true feelings.

Dawn, watching the exchange with a knowing grin, leaned back in her seat and said with mock disdain, "Aww, look at you two being all lovey-dovey… It's sickening."

May turned her gaze to Dawn, her competitive spirit flaring up as she take this personally. "Oh, really Dawn?" she said with a smirk. "Then, I don't think I should be the only one confessing something here."

The shift in atmosphere was immediate—sharp, electric. Like a hidden trap in a Pokémon battle, May's words triggered an unspoken chain reaction around the table.

A subtle tension flickered through the group, each person stealing a glance at Dawn before quickly looking away, as if afraid to be the first to acknowledge the Donphan in the room.

The air grew dense, thick with unspoken knowledge. Bonnie, who had been sipping her Pecha Berry juice through a straw, went utterly still. Clemont adjusted his glasses, the gleam reflecting his internal debate on whether to intervene. Goh awkwardly scratched the back of his head, while Mallow, usually one to jump at juicy gossip, hesitated for once.

They all knew. Each of them, at some point during the day, had caught wind of the now-infamous stadium footage—the one that had circulated like wildfire among the contest crowd, capturing the particularly compromising moment between Ash and Dawn. The image of them tangled together, Ash hovering inches above her, Dawn wide-eyed beneath him, had been enough to spark an entire day's worth of speculation, teasing, and whispered theories.

And now?

Dawn had just been thrown into the ring, completely unarmed.

Her brows furrowed. "What…?" she said slowly, confusion evident in her tone. "Do I have something in my hair, or—"

Then she saw it.

The way the entire table—her friends—barely contained their reactions. Serena's forced, too-wide smile. Goh's sudden fascination with the tablecloth. Bonnie pressing her lips together as if physically restraining herself from blurting something out. And worst of all, the side glances. Everyone's gaze wasn't on her anymore.

They were all looking at Ash.

Dawn's stomach dropped.

The moment stretched unbearably long as all eyes fell on the Alola Champion.

And for once… Ash wasn't reacting.

He sat there, still and quiet, his expression unreadable—which was downright eerie for someone as naturally expressive as him. His fingers idly toyed with his spoon, his lips pressed together in thought. There was no fidgeting, no clueless "Huh?"—just a silence that weighed heavier with each passing second.

Serena, who had spent the entire day reassuring herself (and everyone else) that nothing actually happened, felt a flicker of unease. She trusted Ash, of course she did… but he wasn't exactly doing himself any favors with how cryptic he was acting.

Goh, growing increasingly unnerved by the silence, cleared his throat and nudged Ash lightly. "Uh… Man?"

Ash blinked as if coming out of a trance.

Then, suddenly—

He stood up.

His fist clenched. His jaw set. His amber eyes blazed with a fiery intensity, as though he had made a life-altering decision.

"Okay," Ash announced, his voice firm, unwavering. "I have something official to share!"

The table went dead silent.

Serena's breath hitched.

Dawn's heart stopped.

Goh nearly squealed, catching himself at the last second.

It was happening. Was he actually—?!

Ash inhaled deeply, the anticipation in the room crackling like static, then—

His face split into a grin.

"It's finally time…"

The tension reached its breaking point.

"For the main dish to arrive!"

The collective reaction was instantaneous—and chaotic. Several nearly toppled from their chairs in cartoonish exaggeration. Nearly everyone at the table slumped forward, a mix of groans, facepalms, and incredulous laughter filling the air.

"What… the… hell…?" Goh muttered, dragging a hand down her face.

"This… is your big news?" Clemont asked, shaking his head with a chuckle.

Dawn, who had been bracing for the worst, could only stare at Ash in absolute exasperation—and just the faintest trace of relief.

Ash, oblivious to the chaos he had just caused, simply grinned and took his seat. "What? I thought you'd all be excited!"

Serena chuckled nervously. "Ash, I swear—"

May, watching the utter catastrophe unfold, let out a triumphant laugh, shaking her head. "Classic."

And just like that, the heavy tension dissolved, replaced by groans, laughter, and the clatter of silverware.

But while the topic was 'successfully' dodged, one thing was clear.

As the group regained their composure, their attention was swiftly drawn elsewhere. A team of waiters emerged from the kitchen, their steps measured and deliberate, each balancing a tray with an air of practiced precision.

Indeed, the restaurant they had chosen wasn't just any ordinary bistro—it was The Iron Cauldron, one of Wyndon's most famed establishments, celebrated for its legendary Titan Trainer Feast Challenge. The gimmick? A colossal dish inspired by Pokémon renowned for their insatiable appetites, served in a challenge that tested both endurance and sheer willpower. Participants had to finish an entire plate on their own within a set time limit. Few ever succeeded, but those who did not only earned their meal for free but also had their picture immortalized on the Champion's Wall, where a hand-drawn caricature of a Snorlax wearing a golden crown loomed over the names of past victors.

As the waiters approached, the low hum of the restaurant dulled to near silence, a ripple of anticipation spreading through the other diners. Heavy footsteps thudded against the floor, each step amplifying the weight of the challenge ahead. Then, in a grand, almost theatrical motion, the dishes were placed before Ash and May with a resounding thud.

The sheer size of the platters commanded immediate awe. Before them sat two identical, steaming meals—each so large it dwarfed a family-sized Pokémon Center dinner platter.

The Galarian Wildlands Mega Stew was an absolute behemoth of a dish, a deep, earthenware bowl brimming with thick, slow-simmered Tauros Tail Stew. The gravy was impossibly rich, glistening under the restaurant's warm lighting as it clung to tender, fall-apart chunks of meat. The aroma alone was enough to make even the most disciplined trainer waver—a fusion of roasted root vegetables, finely aged Cheri Wine, and a blend of spices sourced from different regions.

Encircling the stew was a ring of Dynamax Dumplings, their golden-brown shells puffed up to near comical proportions. Each dumpling was stuffed with a unique regional delicacy—Velvet Shroom from Sinnoh, its earthy umami filling mingling with the stew's essence; Torkoal-Smoked Peppers from Hoenn, adding a touch of lingering heat; and Unovan Cheddar Mashed Potatoes, lending a creamy contrast to the ensemble.

To complete the monstrous feast, a Savanna Flatbread—a rustic, hand-stretched bread made from a blend of Miltank cream and Oran Berry glaze—was neatly folded on the side, its slightly crisp edges beckoning the challengers to mop up every last drop of the stew.

For a long moment, neither Ash nor May moved, their gazes locked on the feast before them. The sheer absurdity of the challenge seemed to register all at once, and while the two trainers were mesmerized by the sight, their friends were simply stunned.

"Okay… that's ridiculous," Goh finally blurted out.

Bonnie's eyes practically sparkled. "I don't know whether to be impressed or concerned."

Clemont adjusted his glasses with an exasperated sigh. "Both. Definitely both."

The corners of May's lips curled upward as she picked up her oversized spoon, the gleam in her sapphire eyes shifting from awe to unwavering determination.

However, just as she was about to dig in, Serena leaned forward, her cerulean gaze alight with mischief. She clasped her hands together, her voice sweet yet persistent, effectively pulling May back from her daze.

"May," she began, brimming with excitement, "you've got to tell us how it happened! How did Drew ask you out?"

May, still comfortably wrapped in her coat, smirked at Serena's enthusiasm. She leaned back slightly, crossing her arms as if savoring the dish from her eyes alone, letting the anticipation build.

"Well," May started, her tone teasing, "it's actually a pretty funny story… at least for me."

Sensing a long anecdote incoming, Ash, ever the restless spirit, exchanged a glance with Goh. The two trainers, like children in a classroom growing impatient, silently excused themselves from the table.

They gravitated toward their Pokémon, who were happily devouring food at a nearby designated area. A female Pikachu perched on a small wooden bench with Togedemaru, nibbling contentedly on a bowl of berries, while Cinderace and Lucario playfully argued over the last slice of Poké Puff.

Unbothered by the duo's retreat, May continued. "We were at the park after a contest," she said, her voice laced with nostalgia. "Drew started making these comments about how we make such a great team in contest duo battles."

At this, Drew, who had been quietly sipping his drink, raised a brow and interjected with a small smirk. "I said we were a great team," he corrected with a faint chuckle. "And then I added, 'Why don't we keep the partnership going outside contests too?' You know, trying to be smooth."

May's laughter bubbled out, light and genuine. "Smooth? Please," she teased, leaning forward. "You were redder than a Cherubi by the time you got the words out!"

Drew flushed faintly, attempting to maintain his usual air of composed arrogance, but a smile tugged at his lips. "Tch. You're exaggerating."

"Nope," May retorted playfully. "Your face was practically glowing."

Dawn burst out laughing, clapping her hands. "Drew, you've got to work on your delivery! That was painfully awkward!"

Serena grinned, leaning on the table with an elbow. "But hey, it worked, didn't it?"

May's smirk softened into a genuine smile. "Yeah, it did." Her gaze briefly flickered toward Drew, who looked away with a soft scoff, but not before his own lips quirked upward.

Before May could continue, her stomach let out an audible growl, and she groaned, placing a hand on her abdomen. "Okay, once again, enough about us. Where's Ash? I'm starving, and we're supposed to be celebrating everyone's qualification.. I'm going to start eating without him."

As if on cue, Ash returned to the table, Goh trailing behind him with a grin. "Hey, guys!" Ash announced cheerfully, pointing toward the approaching waiters. "Your food's here!"

"Finally!" May exclaimed, clenching her fists. "Bring your ass here, Ash!"

Ash and May decided to wait until all of their friends' dishes were served before kicking off their competition.

Between Risotto, Burger, Hot Pot and curry.. only Dawn complained to the waiter about getting a risotto instead of her curry.

In the meantime, Serena leaned toward May once more, refusing to let the conversation drop. "You're not getting off the hook that easily," she whispered conspiratorially. "You're giving me the full story later."

May rolled her eyes with a fond smile. "You're insufferable, Serena. Fine, I'll tell you more later."

Bonnie, ever the mischievous spark, sighed dramatically. "Well May, I thought you'll be one of the most attractive choice, but I guess I need to accept this frustrating result.."

"Bonnie!" Clemont chided, adjusting his glasses with an exasperated look.

May chuckled, patting Bonnie's shoulder. "You've got great matchmaking skills, Bonnie. Don't give up on finding the perfect person for your bro."

Bonnie nodded, her expression brightening with renewed determination. "Next time, I'll definitely save his day."

Clemont groaned, muttering under his breath as he focused on his plate. "Save my day and just come back to your seat."

Bonnie, ever the mischievous spark, gave an exaggerated sigh. "Right, right. I get it," she replied, her tone playful as she leaned back in her chair, already plotting her next matchmaking adventure.

Serena, seated nearby with a soft smile, chimed in with a light-hearted remark. "Until the next time…" Her voice trailed off teasingly, the corner of Bonnie's lips twitching in amusement with her own.

Across the table, Goh grinned mischievously as he leaned closer to Bonnie. "Hey, Bonnie, I'm surprised you didn't try to set Chloe up with Clemont." he said, his tone dripping with mock curiosity.

Chloe's gaze snapped to Goh, her brows furrowing. "Goh," she said, her voice calm but firm, "mind your own business."

Goh leaned back with a feigned look of innocence, still grinning. "Just trying to help, Chloe."

Chloe's smirk deepened, a glint of mischief flashing in her eyes. "Well, here's some help for you!" she said sweetly before delivering a swift, well-aimed kick under the table.

Amid the conversations around, Goh let out a yelp, his hands shooting to his shin. "Ow, ow! Okay, message received!" he winced, rubbing his leg as laughter erupted around the table.

Dawn, always quick to find fun in the chaos, chuckled and shook her head. "That's a hard kick," she noted.

Ash, seated nearby, suddenly straightened in his chair, an involuntary shiver running down his spine. Memories of a certain "kick incident" from Dawn resurfaced, and he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "Don't say more," he mumbled, earning a round of knowing grins from the group.

Kiawe, who had been unusually quiet, suddenly rose from his seat, his strong presence immediately commanding attention. The fiery trainer's deep voice carried over the hum of the restaurant as he called out, "Everyone, if I could have your attention, please!"

The table quieted, and all eyes turned to Kiawe, curiosity sparking among the group.

Mallow, never one to miss a chance to tease, leaned forward with a sly grin. "What's this, Kiawe? Are you about to declare you're in a couple too?"

The comment drew a wave of laughter, but Kiawe remained unfazed, his expression unwavering. "We don't need to talk about me," he said firmly, his gaze scanning the group before settling on one particular person. "Today is a day to celebrate, to recognize someone who truly deserves it."

Sophocles leaned closer, his voice low. "Brace yourself," he murmured, casting her a knowing glance.

Kiawe's voice rose, his tone brimming with pride. "Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a round of applause to someone who's faced challenges head-on and emerged stronger than ever. Someone who's not only an incredible friend but also a dedicated coordinator… Lillie!"

Lillie, seated beside Sophocles, tensed, her pale cheeks flushing faintly as she whispered under her breath, "Oh no, please don't…"

A ripple of applause broke out.

Lillie's face turned a deeper shade of crimson as she tried to shrink into her chair. "Kiawe, really, you don't have to…" she stammered, her voice barely audible over the clapping.

But Kiawe wasn't done. He gestured grandly, his enthusiasm infectious. "Let's go, everyone! Let's celebrate our dear friend Lillie, who might be a bit embarrassed right now but deserves every bit of recognition for her achievements. She has shown the world what Alola is all about!"

"Alola, Lillie!" the table group chorused, their voices ringing with loud cheer.

Mortified, Lillie buried her face in her arms, her muffled groan barely audible. "Oh, by Arceus…"

Clemont chuckled, adjusting his glasses once more. "Kiawe really knows how to command the spotlight."

Bonnie grinned, nudging her brother playfully. "He should teach you, bro!"

Before Clemont could retort, the last waiters arrived, balancing trays laden with steaming dishes. The table came alive as the enticing aroma of the meals filled the air.

Ash's eyes lit up, and he rubbed his hands together eagerly. "Alright, I've waited long enough! It's time for the ultimate food showdown!"

May smirked, her competitive streak flaring. "You're on, Ash!"

Everyone stared in disbelief as the two trainers began digging in with reckless abandon.

May, her mouth full, waved a hand dismissively. "Mmm, this is so good!" she mumbled, tears of joy pricking her eyes.

"Competitive eating at its finest," Brock quipped, The rock Gym Leader, who was observing, crossed his arms and smirked for a brief moment.

Dawn leaned back in her chair, laughing. "They're like a pair of Snorlax fighting over food!"

Drew, ever the picture of elegance, raised an eyebrow at his girlfriend. "I've seen Pokémon eat with more grace," he remarked dryly.

May, cheeks puffed with food, shot him a menacing glare. "Sh-Shush up!" she managed, her blush deepening.

Dawn suddenly stood, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she moved to the side of the table. "I have no choice…" she began dramatically.

Serena tilted her head curiously. "To stop them?"

"No," Dawn declared as she leaned forward, surveying the plates. "To judge this duel!"

Goh leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on Ash and May, who were locked in an increasingly intense eating contest. His lips curled into a smirk. "Hmm… who's going to win this showdown?"

Chloe, seated beside him, rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the playful grin tugging at her lips. "Why don't you jump in and steal the victory, Goh?"

"Me? Against those two food monsters?!"

Drew, ever composed with his arms elegantly crossed, let out a sigh as he observed the spectacle. "It's... quite the display of enthusiasm, I'll admit."

Ash, barely pausing between bites, raised his head just enough to shout, "May, I think I'm winning!"

May, cheeks puffed out like a Jigglypuff mid-song, swallowed hurriedly and glared at him with fiery determination. "Oh, no, you're not!"

Serena, seated a few seats away, rested her chin on her palm, her expression caught between amusement and disbelief. "This is definitely not how I pictured tonight's celebration going."

Dawn, her trademark smirk making an appearance, leaned slightly forward. "It's definitely past the point of leaving now."

The murmurs from the other diners in the restaurant began to rise, heads turning toward their table.

"Are they really having an eating contest right now?" an amused onlooker whispered, pointing at Ash and May.

Another chuckled, eyes lighting up at the sight. "Look! Even Pikachu and Piplup are getting in on the action!" Sure enough, Pikachu and Piplup were perched on the middle of the table, each tackling each plates with enthusiasm that mirrored their friends.

"Help May, but don't overdo it, Piplup!" Dawn called out, half-scolding but fully amused. "You've got a contest to think about!"

Sophocles leaned closer to Kiawe, nervously adjusting his glasses. "Uh, guys, do you think we're causing too much of a scene?"

Clemont, the ever-practical inventor, rubbed the back of his neck, his face a mix of embarrassment and concern. "I didn't expect dinner to become a public spectacle…"

Lana, seated quietly, glanced around the room and blushed at the growing attention. "This is getting... a little uncomfortable," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the laughter around them.

May, pausing just long enough to glance at Ash, muttered through a mouthful of food, "Ash, we're causing a scene…"

Ash, unbothered and still chewing, grinned. "Then maybe you should just quit while you're behind, May."

"Not a chance!" she shot back, determination flaring in her eyes as she dove into her plate again.

The sound of Pikachu's eager "Pika, pika!" was soon followed by Piplup's spirited "Piplup!" as the two Pokémon mirrored their Trainers' competitive energy.

The crowd couldn't help but be charmed. "They're so cute!" one diner gushed, while another laughed, "Is this what champions look like now? Top coordinators?"

Sophocles, visibly sweating now, whispered urgently, "What if we get kicked out for disturbing the peace?"

"Just stay calm," Clemont urged, his voice a mix of reassurance and worry. "They'll finish soon… hopefully."

Kiawe, arms crossed and grinning, called out in encouragement, "Keep it up, Ash! Gambatte !"

Mallow, laughing, leaned back in her chair. "I just hope they don't explode from overeating."

At the far end of the table, Brock sat with his chin resting heavily on his hand, his gaze fixed on the empty glass before him. The lively chatter of his friends swirled around the room, but he seemed detached from it, as though caught in a current of his own thoughts. Normally, Brock would be in the thick of it—sharing stories or launching into his well-practiced attempts at charming the nearest beautiful women. But tonight, he was silent, almost unrecognizable.

Dawn, who had been observing him from across the table, frowned in concern. "Hey, Brock. You've been awfully quiet tonight. Is something bothering you?"

Brock blinked, startled out of his reverie, and looked up at her with a sheepish expression. "Huh? Oh… sorry, Dawn. I didn't mean to zone out like that. I've just been... thinking."

Dawn tilted her head, the furrow in her brow deepening. "Thinking? About what?"

He hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck, his eyes avoiding hers. It wasn't like him to stumble over his words, but now, vulnerability flickered across his face. "My future," he finally admitted, his voice quieter than usual. "You know, Dawn, I've spent so much of my life chasing after... well, women. And now... I don't even feel like me anymore. Clemont's gadget—it worked too well. I'm cured of my so-called obsession, but it's like I faced a truth and reality that I was trying to ignore and deny in the process."

Dawn's eyes widened, surprise etched into her features. She leaned closer, her tone gentle and encouraging. "Uh okay.. I had no idea you were feeling like this. But maybe... this isn't such a bad thing. It sounds like you're just seeing personal things from a different perspective now. That's not losing yourself, it's.. growing?"

Brock let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through his hair. "Still.. without that part of me who cares about relationship, who am I? For years, I've been chasing love.. I used to see every Nurse Joy, every Officer Jenny, as a symbol of perfection. Now? I just feel… lost. For so long, I thought I knew what I wanted—to find 'the one' and settle down. But now I'm starting to wonder if I've been chasing something that wasn't real."

Dawn gave him a small, empathetic smile. "Brock.. You're one of the most grounded, dependable people I know. Sure, you've had your moments—plenty of them—but you've always been more than your... excentric side. You're an incredible friend, an amazing doctor and cook, and someone who always looks out for the people he cares about. That's who you are, Brock. The right person—or maybe the right purpose—will come along when it's time. For now, just... be yourself. It's more important than sum your life up to that!"

Brock, his calm smile appearing once more, glanced toward Dawn with a thoughtful expression. "Maybe you're right, Dawn... thanks for that. I shouldn't be wallowing like this."

Dawn, her eyes sparkling with playful mischief, gave him a lighthearted shrug, her voice laced with warmth. "Well, that's what friends are for, right? And let's not forget how much you've done for us in the past, especially when we were still...immature trainers." She chuckled, recalling the more chaotic moments of their journeys. "Look at where we've all ended up. Thanks to you..."

As they exchanged a knowing glance, their attention was inevitably drawn back to the table, where Ash and May were now struggling through their own giant plates of food. The sight of them—both covered in crumbs, their faces red with effort—was almost pitiful. Yet, it was undeniably entertaining.

Dawn sighed, unable to hold back a small laugh. "Well okay... not the best timing, but I guess it's a sweet reunion, right?"

Brock hesitated, his thoughts drifting. He watched the two competitive eaters with an almost wistful gaze. "Seeing Ash and May like this... it brings back memories. The good old days, when we were all just traveling together, carefree."

Dawn softened her voice, the corners of her lips lifting. "Nostalgic, huh? You mean back when we all journeyed together, just Pokémon and the open road?"

Brock nodded slowly, a pensive expression crossing his face. "Yeah... back then, it was all so simple. We had no distractions—just the excitement of the journey, the thrill of every new town, every new challenge. Now, everyone's on their own paths."

"You don't have to travel to live your journey, Brock. You've already done so much for us—brought us all together when we needed it most. No matter how things change, you'll always be the heart of this group. We may be younger than you, but if you have a problem, you know we'll come back for you ! Right ?"

A rare softness appeared in Brock's eyes as he gazed at Dawn, his smile genuine. "You've really grown, Dawn."

Dawn chuckled, a teasing glint in her eyes. "Really? Well, I don't want to change too much! But I'll remember that compliment—just in case you change your mind about me."

The lighthearted chaos at the table came to a pause as May, cheeks flushed and beads of sweat glistening on her forehead, weakly raised her hand. She looked as though she were locked in battle with an indomitable opponent—her own overstuffed plate.

"Hold on, Ash…" she gasped between labored breaths, her voice barely trembling and managing to force the words out between labored bites.

Across from her, Ash, equally winded and looking as though he might topple over, paused mid-chew to glance at her. Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, he asked, "What's going on, May? Giving up already?" he teased, though his voice was weak.

May groaned dramatically, her fork slipping from her fingers as she pushed her plate an inch away. "You've won, Ash. I'm officially forfeiting this ridiculous contest. The food crown is yours. Enjoy it while it lasts!"

From his spot near of his girlfriend, Drew, who had been silently observing the spectacle, rolled his eyes with a exasperated sigh "Finally. About time. Honestly, May, I thought you had more sense than this. You're supposed to be saving your energy for performing, not inhaling food like a Gulpin."

Dawn, never one to miss an opportunity for drama, leaped to her feet with a flourish. She grabbed Ash's arm and raised it triumphantly above his head. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have our winner! Presenting Ash Ketchum—the Kanto Endless Stomach!"

Despite the clear strain on his face, Ash managed a weary grin and a weak fist pump. "Yay…" he groaned, his free hand clutching his swollen stomach.

Serena, seated beside him, clapped politely, though her expression was caught between admiration and bewilderment. "Uh… congratulations, I guess?"

Grinning despite the discomfort etched across his face, Ash nodded. "Thanks to all my journeys, I've perfected my eating skills. A secret training who helps me bond with my Pokémons too—", a burp to finish his victory speech.

The sudden arrival of the waitstaff interrupted his train of thought. A waiter, a tall man in a sleek uniform adorned, stepped forward, balancing an array of elegant trays. "And now, for dessert," he announced, his tone refined yet cheerful, "we present the Sweet Symphony: an assortment of berry tarts, Lumiose cake, and Casteliacones, finished with a drizzle of Moomoo Milk caramel."

The table collectively gasped as the desserts were placed before them. The array was dazzling: tiny tarts adorned with glistening Nanab berries and Oran glaze, the chocolate cake folded into delicate shapes reminiscent of Butterfree wings, and the ice cream cones shimmering with specks of edible Stardust.

Dawn chuckled, nudging Ash with her elbow. "So this is your real reason for traveling, huh? To rival a Snorlax's appetite?"

Ash grinned sheepishly, eyeing his plate of dessert with a mixture of dread and longing. "Not just that… it's more like… the joy of discovery! Every region has something new to offer.. Kinda like Cilan always says: Cuisine connects people and Pokémon through history and culture.. tasting the world is its own adventure. Every bite tells a story, right, Pikachu?"

Beside him, Pikachu let out a long, satisfied "Pikaaaaa…" The electric mouse lay sprawled on the table, its tiny paws cradling his belly round, clearly having indulged far too much himself.

Serena added subtly. "You two really are a team in everything, huh?"

Dawn, her tone dripping with sarcasm, smirked. "I don't know what Cilan would be more impressed by—the fact that you've become a self-proclaimed Food Connoisseur or your incredible compatibility with Pikachu when it comes to… overindulgence."

Serena's brow furrowed slightly as she recalled the name. Cilan… It took her a moment, but she remembered Ash mentioning his Unova traveling companion who was both a Pokémon Connoisseur and a passionate cook. She glanced at Dawn, her thoughts swirling. Dawn's met so many of Ash's friends… Brock, May, Chloe, Goh, and now Cilan… The realization made her pause, a faint pang of envy stirring as she thought about her own, more limited connections to Ash's past.

From his seat, Goh smirked, leaning back with his arms crossed. "I've seen Ash battle Legendary Pokémon, but watching him in a food contest? It's also amazing!"

Chloe, who had been quietly watching the spectacle with wide eyes, stifled a nervous laugh. "I think I'll pass on that amazing experience. Beside.. I'm not sure Ash's stomach—or Pikachu's—can take much more."

The sweet aroma wafted across the table, and even Ash, who had just declared defeat, couldn't help but sit up straighter, his mouth watering anew.

"I might've overdone it… but wasting food is a crime!"

Ash, now eyeing his dessert with determination, groaned as he picked up a fork. Goh shook his head with a knowing grin.

"Ash, your stomach already called it quits ten minutes ago. You've done enough."

Without admitting defeat, Ash, now staring down at the remaining slice of Lumiose cake on his plate, groaned in frustration. "Maybe you're right... but it's just so good… Come on, just some bite… I can't let this masterpiece go to waste..."

Dawn, her mischievous streak evident in the sparkle of her eyes, leaned in close to Ash, who was slumped over the table, groaning from his overstuffed stomach. "Ash, Ash," she said, her tone playful.

Ash looked up slowly, his face weary. "What is it, Dawn?"

"Didn't you noticed the Pokemon battle on the pokemon area ?"

Ash blinked, confused. "What are you talking about? Who's battling?"

"Look again." Dawn's voice was teasing, her sly glance directed toward the cake sitting in front of him.

Before Ash could connect the dots, Dawn snatched his dessert plate in one swift motion, lifting the cake triumphantly. "Sorry, couldn't resist~!" she declared, taking a playful twirl before Ash could react.

"D-Dawn?!" Ash's voice cracked as he scrambled to his feet, his sluggish movements betraying the weight of his overindulgence.

"You look like he've seen a Ghost-type Pokémon."

Serena, caught between shock and concern, stammered. "Dawn, what are you doing..?"

Dawn, pretending to be completely innocent, glanced up at Serena. "What? Ash said he was struggling, so I thought I'd help out."

Ash, still trying to digest the shock, exploded. "You're helping yourself, not me! That's mine, give me back !"

Dawn darted around the table, her laughter ringing out as she skillfully dodged Ash's sluggish attempts to grab his dessert. Her movements were fluid and energetic, like a dance, weaving through chairs and even twirling around herself as she dodged. "Not anymore, Slowpoke!" she taunted, her movements smooth and almost theatrical.

"Careful there !" she teased, spinning away from him. "You might end up tripping yourself !"

The Sinnoh coordinator even leaped lightly over Kiawe's outstretched foot when he halfheartedly tried to help Ash. "Like him!"

"Whoa!" Kiawe yelped, nearly toppling from his chair as Dawn sidestepped his attempt. "Not bad, like a wild Dodrio on the loose!"

"Thanks for the compliment !" she called back with a wink, effortlessly weaving around Piplup, who was cheering her on with enthusiastic chirps.

Ash, feeling heavy at the moment, struggled to keep up. "Pikachu, Quick Attack!" he commanded, pointing at Dawn.

Pikachu, still lying on the table with a distended belly, let out a halfhearted groan. "Pikaaa…" With a pitiful squeak of effort, he managed a sluggish dash forward—only to collapse back onto the table, rolling slightly a mere few inches before flopping down again.. utterly defeated by his own gluttony.

"It's supposed to be a attack ?!" Ash groaned as the whole table erupted in laughter.

Brock leaned back in his chair, shaking his head. "Even Pikachu's out of commission, Ash. You're on your own."

Goh also leaned back, smirking. "Ash, you might as well give up now."

May clapped her hands together, thoroughly entertained. "She will run circles around you for hours!"

Dawn ducked behind the chairs, holding the cake just out of Ash's reach. "Come on, Ash, you're making this way too easy! A piece of cake.. beeeh!" she teased, sticking her tongue out full of chocolate.

Piplup, now waddling along beside Dawn, puffed up his chest in solidarity. "Pip-piplup!" he chimed in proudly, as if daring Ash to challenge them.

Dawn grinned, still darting around the table with the plate still in hand. "You're supposed to be the World Champion—can't catch one girl with a slice of cake?"

Ash groaned in frustration but couldn't help grinning. "I'll get you for this, Dawn!"

Serena, who had been quietly observing the playful chase, froze as she watched Dawn casually set the plate down and take a bite of the cake. Her smile faltered slightly, her mind racing. She's eating from the same fork… isn't that…?

"Dawn…" Serena's voice was hesitant, though she tried to keep her tone light. "Isn't it, um, a little… unhygienic to eat from the same plate like that?"

Dawn paused mid-bite, glancing up at Serena curiously before chuckling. "Huh? Pfft..! You're a funny one, Serena ! No need to worry, it's not a big deal! Back when I was a kid, we'd all share sports bottles at daycare. No one cared then! Totally normal!" She winked playfully before twirling away again, humming happily .

Serena blinked, her cheeks flushing slightly of shame as she quickly waved her hands. "O-Oh, right! Yeah, I guess that makes sense…"

Dawn took another bite of the cake, savoring it dramatically. "Mmm, so worth it," she said with a cheeky grin.

Chloe, gave Serena an understanding nod. "Don't worry, Serena. Dawn and Ash are just being themselves."

Brock, shaking his head with a knowing smile, chimed in. "These two are still like a pair of mischievous Aipom.. Still, Dawn sure has an interesting way of helping out."

Ash, still grumbling, crossed his arms tightly. "This is ridiculous. I demand a refund!"

Dawn's smile only widened, clearly enjoying the moment. "Oh, please, don't be such a child. You can't complain after the tasty treat I got you earlier..." Dawn, now finishing the last bite, set the fork down triumphantly. "No need to worry, Ash. I saved you from overeating. You should be thanking me!"

Ash threw his hands up in defeat, his frustration giving way to amusement. "You're the worst, Dawn!"

As Dawn passed by Ash again, still holding the now nearly empty plate, she leaned in and gave him a mock-pitying look. "Ungrateful ! Then.. Consider it my sweet prize for this memorable day."

Goh leaned forward, grinning. "Dawn does have a point, though, Ash. Maybe she saved you from a food coma."

Ash crossed his arms, pouting. "Some friends you all are! ..Fine, whatever. Keep the plate. But now, you can't anymore eat your own dessert right ? So, I will..!"

"Nop! I have a better idea.." Dawn got up, took her own dessert before glancing around. "..Now, where's the trash can?"

Ash, throwing his hands up in the air, stood up with a dramatic expression. "No, no, no..! You can't do that.. you.. You monster! Ugh.."

As laughter filled the restaurant, Pikachu let out a drowsy, satisfied "Pika…" and promptly fell asleep, his belly rising and falling in rhythm.

Finally, Ash leaned back in his chair, a frustrating expression across his face despite the mountain of plates that surrounded him earlier. It didn't last long before his eyes sparkled again with that familiar, competitive gleam as he glanced at Kiawe.

"Kiawe," he said, his voice filled with energy and challenge, "how about a Pokémon battle to work off all this food?"

Kiawe smirked, his fiery spirit immediately ignited. "Oh I missed that line, Ash! I've been waiting for a chance to take you down again."

Across the table, Mallow leaned closer to Sophocles and whispered with a wry smile, "Just another typical day with Ash around.. I missed this type of moment too."

Clemont, ever the voice of reason, raised a hand in mild protest. "Hold on, guys," he said, adjusting his glasses, his tone filled with calm authority. "As much as I'd love to see an epic showdown, we can't risk damaging the furniture—or, you know, causing a scene in the middle of the restaurant."

Sophocles nodded in agreement, gesturing toward the curious stares already directed their way. "Yeah, I think we've attracted enough attention as it is."

Serena stood, brushing imaginary crumbs from her dress. Her movements were graceful yet deliberate, her voice soft but firm as she said, "It's time for me to go out and meet my friend before things get too hectic here.. Goodnight, everyone."

Dawn stretched her arms above her head with a yawn, her playful demeanor evident in the twinkle of her eyes. "Same here. Tomorrow's a big day, and I don't want to be dragging my feet."

Plates now held only crumbs, and glasses glistened faintly under the warm amber lights. May pushed herself up from her seat with an exaggerated groan, her muscles protesting before she stretched, her arms reaching skyward with a graceful ease that belied her earlier struggle.

"Let's enjoy it too... A walk will do me good," she declared, flashing a bright smile to the table. "I need to burn off some calories before I sleep!"

Drew, ever the best boyfriend, leaned back casually in his chair, his emerald hair catching the light as his lips curved into a teasing smirk. "You especially want to leave and forget to pay for your lost challenge, huh?"

May's face flushed as she shot him a flustered glare, her hands instinctively balling into fists. "N-No! Shut up, Drew! I-I'll do it... if I can!" she stammered, her voice pitching slightly as she struggled to mask her embarrassment.

From the other side of the table, Lillie raised a hand delicately, her pale fingers almost luminous under the light. Her soft, measured voice carried an air of grace that immediately drew everyone's attention. "If it's only that," she began, her tone kind and composed, "I can pay for everyone. It doesn't bother me."

May blinked, her jaw dropping slightly as her earlier bravado melting into stunned awkwardness. "W-What?! I wouldn't... Would you?" she began, her voice trailing off as awe crept into her expression.

Out of nowhere, Lillie offfered with an radiant smile that seemed to brighten the entire room. as she adjusted her elegant posture, the folds of her dress falling perfectly around her chair. "Of course," she replied sincerely. "I'd be happy to! Meeting you all has been such a wonderful opportunity. That's worth far more than the cost of a meal."

Awed and blinded by her light, May instinctively stumbled back.

As if the sheer purity of Lillie's words had physically struck her deep within her, untainted by any hint of ulterior motive. "A-Are... you an angel?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Turning her head slightly, May leaned closer to Drew, her voice low but insistent. "Do you think Max would have a chance of interesting her?"

Drew sighed, brushing her bangs back with a nonchalant flick of his hand. "Please don't try to set her up with your brother just to save your wallet.."

May's face turned scarlet, her indignation bubbling over as she retorted, "S-Shut up! Like I'd touch my little brother's—and his future girlfriend's—finances!" She turned dramatically, gesturing toward Lillie, who now sipped her tea with an unassuming elegance that seemed almost otherworldly. "Just... look at her. She's glowing."

Drew's lips quirked into a sly grin. "It's especially her bank account that you see shining."

Dawn, seated nearby, couldn't resist jumping into the fray. "Thank you, Lillie, for covering the financial backlash of the two Snorlaxes who serve as my friends! Now, get out the lovebirds." she quipped, throwing a playful jab at both May and Drew. With exaggerated dramatics, she waved casually. "See you around, guys!"

Chloe, poised and thoughtful as always, followed suit, draping her coat over her shoulders with practiced precision. Unlike Dawn, who seemed entirely unbothered by the crisp Wyndon night despite her casual attire, Chloe shivered slightly at the thought of the cold. "W-Wait, Dawn ! Serena ! I'll come along too," she said, her tone gentle but firm.

As she adjusted her scarf, Chloe's sharp gaze settled on Lillie, who remained seated, her calm demeanor unshaken. The Alolan coordinator's pale complexion seemed to glow softly in the dim light, a serene contrast to the bustling energy around her.

"Lillie, right?" Chloe asked, her voice tinged with curiosity. "Shouldn't you come with us?"

Lillie's wide, expressive eyes blinked in mild surprise before she quickly bowed her head, her golden locks cascading over her shoulders like sunlight. "O-Oh! I appreciate your concern.." she began, her voice tinged with polite regret. "Sorry for refusing your proposition but.. I'd like to stay a bit longer with everyone here. Thank you, though!"

Chloe chuckled softly, caught off guard by Lillie's earnestness. "There's no need to apologize," she said with a light laugh. "We'll see each other in two days."

Ash, who had been observing the exchange in his usual laid-back manner, perked up at the mention of the schedule. "Two days?" he repeated, tilting his head in confusion. "Doesn't the 8th finals start tomorrow?"

Slipping on her elegant coat, Serena stepped closer, and her honeyed voice cut out as she turned towards him with a small, knowing smile. "Tomorrow's the last day of preparation for the rest of the contest," she explained patiently. "After that, it'll all fly by."

Ash nodded slowly, his brows furrowing in thought. "Got it. In that case, we should postpone our time together, so you can focus on your prep—"

Before he could finish, Serena's face flushed with panic, her hands waving in an almost frantic denial. "N-No, no! It's fine, really!" she exclaimed, her nervous laughter bubbling out. "I can always find time tomorrow for you! We're not going to train all day anyway. Haha..."

Ash blinked, slightly puzzled by her sudden flustered demeanor, but he offered a reassuring smile nonetheless. "Huh, okay then. While you rest, we'll figure something out tomorrow."

Serena exhaled a shaky breath, her lips curling into a warm smile as she waved him closely. "Yes... see you tomorrow, Ash. I'll be waiting."

As Serena waved everyone this time and made her way toward the door with Chloe after everyone called back their pokemons, Goh's sharp eyes tracked her departure. His curiosity finally got the better of him as he leaned toward Ash, his tone cautious but probing. "Did I miss something between you two?"

Ash shrugged nonchalantly, his dark hair falling slightly into his face. "Oh, yeah. I promised her we'd visit the different stands in the stadium and the city. Today, we kind of got sidetracked."

Goh's gaze lingered on Ash for a moment, his expression thoughtful. "So that's why she seemed upset earlier, huh?" he murmured, half to himself.

"Looks like she's hoping to explore more than just the stands tomorrow.."

Bonnie, however, wasn't ready to let the dinner ending without a comment as she noticed a last chance to push her chance. She turned toward Lillie, her mischievous grin as radiant as ever. "So, princess, admit it... there's another reason for you to stay with us, huh?"

Lillie's cheeks turned a deep crimson at the nickname, her hands fluttering nervously as though searching for a place to rest. "C-could you please stop calling me that?" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm not a princess."

Bonnie leaned forward on the table, her head tilted with a mix of curiosity and determination. Her bright eyes sparkled mischievously as she retorted, "Oh, come on! You totally are. You've got the manners, the poise, and all that elegance. Admit it!"

The blush on Lillie's face deepened as she looked away, her gaze dropping to her lap. "I'm not!" she protested, her voice tinged with both embarrassment and frustration. "I just… had a good education."

Mallow, sensing an opportunity to tease, grinned and jumped into the conversation. "Did you know Lillie comes from a super wealthy family? Her mom runs the Aether Foundation!" she said with a dramatic flourish, as if revealing a juicy secret.

Sophocles nodded sagely, crossing his arms. "Yep. She's basically Alola's princess. It's actually a fact."

Lillie's eyes widened, and she frantically waved her hands in front of her as if to push the words away. "S-Sopho, stop saying that! It's not true!" Her voice cracked slightly, making her protest sound even more earnest.

Bonnie's face lit up with a sudden idea, her mischievous grin widening. "Despite the abundance of good fortune you have.. You know what you didn't have yet ? My brother!" She clasped her hands together dramatically, as if sealing the perfect match in her mind. "Clemont would be your fairy tale prince! He's smart, pure, and exactly what you're missing in your perfect life."

Clemont, who had been quietly sipping water, choked mid-gulp, his face flushing a vivid shade of red. He slammed the glass onto the table, coughing furiously. "Bonnie!" he spluttered, his voice thick with exasperation. "Don't you think you've bored everyone enough today?! Let her alone!"

"Oh, that's cute~ You already protect her !" Bonnie only shrugged innocently, her mischievous grin still plastered across her face. Before the situation could escalate, a new voice cut through the chatter.

"Hold on there."

Everyone turned to see.. Gladion striding into the room, his stoic expression betraying a hint of protective annoyance. His blond hair gleamed under the soft lights, and his piercing gaze swept the group before landing on his sister.

"Gladion!" Lillie's voice was a mixture of relief and surprise. "You're here!"

Bonnie, ever the firecracker, pointed an accusing finger at him. "And who are you to interrupt my matchmak..? Wait… Whoa, what's with the emo fashion sense?!"

Gladion ignored her outburst and scooped her up effortlessly, holding her at arm's length as though she were a troublesome Poké Doll. "I'm her brother," he said flatly. "And I think you've embarrassed my sister enough for one evening."

Ash couldn't suppress a laugh, nudging Pikachu. "That's one way to make an entrance."

Bonnie flailed her arms and feets indignantly, yelling loudly. "Put me down, you fashion emo weirdo! I still need to seal the best deal of Lillie's life!"

Gladion's lips twitched in a faint smirk. "Sorry, but we don't negotiate with terrorist." He deposited Bonnie back in her seat with the precision of a trainer handling a delicate Pokémon.

Gladion approached Lillie with a rare softness in his usually sharp gaze. His shoulders were stiff, his jaw tight, but his voice carried an unfamiliar gentleness as he spoke. "Lillie," he began, his words deliberate, "I'm sorry for being late. Even if the storm delayed me... I should've been there for you."

Lillie's lips curved into a gentle smile. She shook her head slightly, her pale blonde hair catching the light as it swayed. "It's alright, Gladion," she said, her voice steady but warm. "It wasn't your fault. And besides," she added with a faint shrug, "I made it here eventually."

Gladion's fists clenched at his sides, his knuckles turning white. His frustration was palpable, simmering beneath his composed exterior. "Still," he said, his voice low but intense, "I should've done better. Missing your moment in the spotlight… that's unacceptable!"

From a few seats away, Lana leaned toward Mallow, her turquoise eyes glinting with amusement. "He's always intense, isn't he?" she murmured, her tone light but intrigued.

Mallow stifled a giggle, covering her mouth with her hand as she whispered back, "Yeah, but it's kind of sweet how much he cares, don't you think?"

Bonnie, now perched on her seat with a dramatic pout, crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. "Great," she muttered loudly, "a siscon."

Sophocles raised an eyebrow, glancing sideways at her. "You want to talk about you and your constant matchmaking?" he quipped, his tone dry but teasing.

Bonnie whipped her head toward him, her fiery energy flaring up. "Hein ?!" she snapped, pointing an accusatory finger at him. "I just take care of my brother like my Pokemon, okay? It's totally different!"

Lana let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head in amused disbelief. "It's.. a good thing.. even if I would never compare my little sisters with my Pokemon." she said, her voice tinged with playful skepticism.

Clemont let out a heavy sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose with a tired groan. "I'm just… so tired," he muttered under his breath, the weight of the chaotic conversation clearly catching up with him.

The tension in Gladion's shoulders eased slightly, though his golden eyes still held a glint of guilt. He clenched his fists tightly at his sides, as if grounding himself against his frustration. "From now on," he said, his tone resolute and unwavering, "I'll make sure we're better prepared for any challenges that come your way."

Lillie's expression softened as she took a step closer to her older brother. The warmth in her emerald gaze contrasted with his intensity. "Gladion," she said gently, "you don't have to be so hard on yourself. I appreciate your concern, but accidents happen. It's not like you could control the storm."

Gladion's jaw tightened, and he exhaled sharply through his nose. "Luckily, you qualified for another round," he said, his voice laced with determination. "Otherwise, I don't think I'd be able to face you."

Lillie's cheeks flushed a delicate pink, and she waved her hands in mild embarrassment. "Gladion, calm down! It's really not that big of a deal." Then, her expression grew more serious, her voice tinged with curiosity and concern. "More importantly… where are Mom and Dad? Are they okay?"

Gladion's features softened further, and his voice dropped slightly as he responded. "They're fine. Just stuck waiting for the storm to pass before they can join us. They'll arrive tomorrow."

Relief flickered across Lillie's face, and she let out a soft sigh. "I'm glad to hear that… I hadn't heard from them for hours except for a message from Mom saying, 'You were wonderful! Everything's fine, apart from me crying next to the TV.'"

"Knowing her, she was crying from both joy and frustration."

Ash, who had been quietly watching the exchange, grinned brightly. "Anyway, I'm just glad everything's going well for you all!"

Gladion turned slightly, muttering under his breath, "Damnit, even Ash was here for her…" His voice trailed off, tinged with self-reproach.

Ash's keen ears caught the comment, but he chose to lighten the mood instead. "Now that you're here, Gladion," he said, his tone shifting to excitement, "how about we head outside and have a two-on-two battle? What do you say?"

Gladion's signature smirk made its return, and a glint of competitive fire lit his eyes. "It's been a while," he replied. "Sounds like a plan."

Ash's gaze swept the group, landing on Sophocles. "Sophocles, want to team up for the battle?"

Sophocles froze mid-bite, his round face coloring with nervousness. "Uh, well… I don't know," he stammered. "There are so many people watching, and… you know, I'm not really comfortable battling in front of a crowd."

Ash gave a reassuring nod, his tone understanding. "No worries, Sophocles. I get it—no pressure."

Gladion quirked an eyebrow, his arms crossing over his chest. "You need an extra player, Ash?"

Ash shook his head with a grin. "Yeah, with Kiawe and.. Actually, I've got someone in mind." He turned to the older, calm figure seated nearby. "Brock, how about joining us for a battle?"

Brock raised an eyebrow, his hand resting on his chin as if weighing the decision. "A battle, huh?" he mused aloud. "Well, I suppose it could be a good way to clear my head. Alright, I'm in."

The rock Gym Leader finally stand up with determination, revealing his abs as a symbol of his partly rediscovered ardor.

"That's what I like to hear! Let's make this battle just like the old days."

Ash's grin widened, his enthusiasm contagious. Contrary to Goh, who crossed his arms, his tone was slightly hurtful.

"Ash, what about me? Did you forget I'm here too?"

Ash blinked, his expression sheepish. "Oh, sorry, Goh! How about you be the referee? That way, we can all take turns later. I'm also curious of your progress!"

Goh sighed, though a small smile tugged at his lips. "Fine, fine. I'll keep things fair."

Ash waved to the rest of the group, his voice brimming with energy. "Alright, everyone, see you later or tomorrow!"

The Alola group and Clemont's group exchanged waves and cheerful goodbyes as Ash, Brock, Goh, Kiawe and Gladion exited. When the restaurant door finally swung shut behind them, silence settled over the remaining group.

Lana broke the quiet with a small laugh. "It's going to be a lot calmer without them."

Clemont adjusted his glasses, nodding in agreement. "Indeed… I appreciate the silence for once."

Bonnie leaned forward on the table, resting her chin in her hands as her eyes sparkled with curiosity. "So… everyone here is from Alola, right? I've only heard bits and pieces. What's it like there? Is it as amazing as Ash says?"

Clemont nodded, leaning back in his chair but clearly interested. "Yeah, we've heard a lot about Alola. But there's still so much we don't know. What makes it special?"

Lana's eyes lit up, and a warm smile spread across her face as she began. "Alola is a paradise. It's surrounded by clear blue oceans, with beaches that stretch on forever. The water is so crystal-clear that you can see the Pokémon swimming below. And one of the most exciting things we do is Mantine surfing—it's like flying over the waves!"

Mallow leaned forward, her enthusiasm bubbling over as she added, "And you can't forget about the Tauros races! They're thrilling! Plus, the food in Alola is like nowhere else—zesty salads, sweet tropical fruits, and unique spices that bring every dish to life."

"Oh wow, I'd love to try all of that! What's your favorite dish?"

Bonnie's eyes sparkled even brighter, which made Mallow laugh from her seat as she put on her jacket, her kimono couldn't give her enough warmth.

"I might be biased, but my family's famous Alola-style curry is unbeatable. It's the perfect mix of savory and spicy!"

Lillie, who had been quietly listening, spoke up with a soft, shy smile. "Alola has so much natural beauty. Our volcano is stunning, and the boutique shops are charming, too. Though, I imagine the ones in Kalos must be even grander."

Bonnie gave a playful smirk, tilting her head. "Grander? Sure. But also way more expensive! Don't go to Lumiose City unless you've got deep pockets. For someone like you, though, Princess, it's probably fine!"

Lillie stiffened, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks as she waved her hands in protest. "M-my name is Lillie!"

Sophocles chuckled at the exchange and decided to join in. "Well, while you're busy shopping, don't forget Alola is a hub for cutting-edge tech. Ever heard of the Rotom Phone? That's us!"

"Wow, you guys have everything!"

Bonnie's eyes widened in awe as her brother. Clearly captivated, he adjusted his glasses and leaned closer.

"Speaking of technology, Ash mentioned you're quite the inventor, Sophocles. Care to share some of your creations?"

"Oh, I think you're going to love this! One of my favorite inventions is a device that can analyze a Pokémon's energy output in real time. It's great for trainers looking to optimize their battle strategies. And then there's the communication relay I made for our Pokémon school—it lets students connect with Pokémon researchers across the islands!

Clemont's eyes widened with admiration, a effervescence going beyond the laws of physics that invade him when it comes to the possibility of reflection with another genius. "That's remarkable! I've been working on something similar, but your focus on communication systems is ingenious. We'll have to exchange notes sometime!"

With a more measured excitement in his actions, but with a big smile on his lips, Sophocles then took out several small prototype inventions that he was able to carry with him."O-Okay ! Now, let me tell you about one of my latest gadgets—one of them is a device that synchronizes with Z-Moves for enhanced performance data collection. The engineering behind it is—"

Finally, the youngest genius launched into a passionate explanation, complete with animated gestures and the occasional sketch on a napkin to illustrate his ideas. Clemont hung on every word, his own ideas bubbling up as he nodded and asked thoughtful questions.

Bonnie giggled, glancing between the two inventors. "Looks like we've got a techie bromance brewing at least !"

As the night unfolded, our heroes and their newfound friends immersed themselves in lively conversations, exchanging stories about their respective regions and Pokémon. With the moon high in the sky, our heroes bid farewell to their new friends.

In the side of Ash and his fighting friends.. The battles continued late into the night, with Ash and Kiawe insisting on pushing forward despite the exhaustion that had settled in on everyone else.
