Chapter 15
Dean drove and glanced over to his right to see that Sam had leaned his head against the window of the passenger window and had fallen asleep. With the sound of the snoring he heard over the radio he had turned down. He had time to think about what that crossroad demon had told him when he made that deal with. He was happy to have a sibling he could talk to and won't judge him but at the moment both of them were asleep. He spotted a gas station and checked the gas level in his car. Even though it was just about half he decided to go top it off and signaled, even when there was hardly anyone driving. He pulled up to the first available pump and stopped the car. He debated in whether he should wake up his siblings but he ended up shaking Sam who woke up with a start.
"How-?" Sam asked groggily sitting up and looking around.
"Not that long." Dean replied already knowing what his brother was going to ask. "But you should head to the restroom maybe grab something to snack on, I'm not sure how much longer until I choose to stop."
"'Kay." Sam yawned before climbing out of the car, stretched and headed for the gas station.
When Sam disappeared Dean noticed his sister was still asleep in the back. He walked to the side her head was closest to and gently grabbed her shoulder to shake it. As soon as his hand landed on her shoulder she was sitting up and he was surprised she had a small knife that he knew was off the left side of her. "Whoa, Christy it's just me." He said seeing the freaked out crazed look he had seen a few times when he was a kid when their father had a bad nightmare. "It's okay. We've just stopped to recharge."
Christina sighed and slowly slide the knife back into the sheath before she allowed Dean to help her out of the door. "Sorry."
"It's okay. I'm used to it. When Sam was younger he'd get a bad nightmare where he actually punched me." Dean chuckled as Christina was slowly taking breaths to calm herself down. "Do you want to tell me about it?"
"Between the last couple of hunts it's a lot going through my head. One when we were in Baltimore I had a run in with Gordon."
"Gordon?" Dean asked trying to figure out what Gordon as the name was familiar but he always had the ability to block certain memories.
"Demented Vampire killer." Christina said her face growing dark with anger. "He cornered me at a diner and when he did the same thing in the parking lot I kneed him before picking you two up."
"Well, remembering how he was, that would give anyone a bad nightmare. But what about that last case affected you?"
"Just knowing there was some kind of beast and not being able to see anything. They also didn't have a smell so I couldn't tell where they were only from what Evan was telling Sam." She shuddered and stretched. "Now that I told you what I was struggling with, what did the demon tell you that you had to accept?"
Dean was surprised that Christina had brought that up when she was supposed to be asleep. "We thought you were asleep."
"No, I was going over the case and I know you will tell me, I have a feeling it concerns Sam."
"It's about both Dad and Sam." Dean said with a heavy sigh. He made sure Sam wasn't around before standing next to his sister and keeping an eye on the gas station's door. "I'm not going to go into full detail, but apparently when I offered to give my soul up to save Evan the crossroad Demon wouldn't take it instead said if I allowed her to tell me something and I would have to accept it." Christina moved in closer and Dean sighed knowing this was the same thing Sam used to do to try and get more information. "First off they told me that Dad...Dad sold his soul to save me and that he gave up the colt to save you."
"I had a feeling something like that happened when he showed up to apologize to me. But let's go back to you. There was something else that you needed to tell me that involves Sam."
"She said that Sam will become the evil monster that Dad was worried about." Dean said clearly not liking what he was told. "I'm not sure if I can go through what Dad told me to do?"
Christina threw her arms around her older brother and held him close. "You're not going to be alone. We will make sure Sam doesn't change. He's not a monster, and no matter what Gordon said he will not come close to him."
"Wait, what? Gordon called Sam a monster?" Dean asked growling. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Sam was around. I was going to tell this over a few shots of whiskey to give me the liquid courage to tell you." She lowered her eyes in shame. "But we can discuss this more when I take you to the bar for the next week."
"I was hoping you'd forget about the deal." Dean said with a slow shake of his head. "Not very comfortable with not being behind the wheel."
"Hey a deals a deal. One week of driving and one week of bar hopping." Christina smiled and watched as Sam stubbled out of the gas station holding a small bottle of juice and a snack of some jerky. "I'll go grab you something as well. Anything specific?"
"Jerky's just fine and maybe a coffee." Dean answered seeing the similarities between his sister and brother on, when they change the subject they're done talking about any uncomfortable topics. When Christina nodded and headed into the gas station before he went back to filling up the car, and washing the windshield as Sam decided to climb into the backseat to stretch out better. Dean didn't question it as he knew that his brother needed sleep and it would be more comfortable for his beanpole of a brother to sleep better, stretched out.

The car was quiet when Christina returned and was surprised that Dean handed her the keys. She took her spot behind the wheel and all of them fell into silence, only to be broken by Sam's soft snores from the backseat. Dean quietly sipped the coffee his sister had bought him and snagged a piece of the jerky from the bag that was in between him and Christina.
Christina had a classical rock station playing and was gently bobbing with the music. "So where should we go?" She asked noticing the signs off the side for lodging, food and gas.
"I say lets just head for the next town." Dean said, even though technically she had full control on where they went. "I think we all need to just find a hotel and stay a few days to recharge. Even though Bobby's will be the best place to recharge."
"I think he was heading on a hunt the last time I spoke to him." Christina said thinking back to when they were at the gas station and she called him just to keep him in the loop of where they were and if they were needed on another hunt. "So honestly I vote in finding a cheap hotel and just recharge there. Maybe there would be a bar we can go get a few drinks as well."
"I think it's definitely needed." Dean said taking another sip from his coffee. "Take this next exit and find a good hotel. I think all that adrenaline is finally coming off. Also I don't think our brother is at all comfortable."
"I think stopping will be good. That last case took a lot out of me." Christina sighed as she pulled off the highway exit and found a Motel 6 just nearest the exit with the Vacancy sign still lit. "Do you want me to get the room or you want to?"
"I'll go." Dean said as Christina pulled in front of the main entrance. "I'll be back in a few."
Christina watched as her older brother walked through the doors and she turned around gently shaking Sam's shoulder and shook it. "Sam wake up. Dean's getting us a motel room."
"'Kay." Sam yawned stretching and rubbing his eyes. "It's so strange seeing you behind the wheel."
"I think Dean thinks so too." Christina agreed and watched her brother Dean walk out with a small white envelope. "I think he found a room."
"Parking's in the rear. Its one of the rare ones where there's a backdoor to it." Dean said sliding into the seat. "Room 137."
Christina silently nodded and pulled up to the door, parked the car and shut the car off. Sitting there she watched as her two brothers slowly gathered up their belongings from the car and climbed out. Letting out a yawn herself, she slowly climbed out of the drivers seat and gave a big stretch before opening the back door for her backpack which was on the floor.
Dean waited until both of his siblings were standing behind him as he opened the door and flipped on the light impressed by how clean and large the room was. There was two queen beds nearest the door while a small couch sat just off to the left of the backdoor.
"Okay I'll sleep on the couch, Christy you take this bed." Dean said pointing to the bed closest to the back door.
"I'll take this one." Sam said sleepily tossing his backpack on the edge and sitting down to take off his shoes. He only shrugged off his jacket before flopping on the pillows and falling quickly to sleep.
"Are you sure you want the couch?" Christina asked after the soft snores from their brother grew into a steady rhythm. "Might be more comfortable on a bed then a couch."
"I'll be okay. Besides I'm the first line of defense if someone tries to come through that back door."
"Well that explains a lot of you and Sam." Christina said reluctantly sitting on the spare bed and kicking off her shoes. "Well if you want to switch just wake me up and we can switch."
Dean nodded as he stretched out on the couch and smiled when Christina had tossed him a pillow. "Night." He said adjusting himself just enough to get comfortable. He quickly relaxed and began to snore slightly.

The next morning, the siblings didn't bother waking up early or start to pack up. They wanted nothing more then to enjoy a few days of just relaxing and recover from their last couple of cases. Since all three overslept through the free breakfast Dean and Christina decided to head out to grab lunch leaving Sam alone as he seemed to be more tired and was wanting to take another nap.
"Dean, I got something I need to tell you." Christina said as they stopped in front of a gas station to grab a quick meal to eat.
"This is sudden." Dean said suddenly worried. "What's going on?"
Christina sighed as she pulled and parked into an available parking spot before taking the keys out of the ignition. "Do you really think Dad wanted you to kill Sam?"
Dean was shocked as he hadn't tried to think about what their father had asked him before he died. But it was also something that haunted him for months. "That came out of the blue." Dean chuckled before carefully climbing out of the passenger seat.
Christina quickly jumped out after him afraid he would avoid the topic. "Dean."
But Dean just wanted to move towards a small picnic area and sat down on top of the table with his hands clasped together. "Honestly if Dad hadn't died... I would have done and still will do everything to protect Sam even if he goes dark side."
"So you wouldn't think Sam was a monster even if he were to become one?"
Dean's face scrunched in anger which made Christina take a step back in fear. "Nobody calls Sam a monster. No one. Dad especially wouldn't live to call Sam a monster."
"I wasn't wanting to call Sam one." Christina said her voice soft as she fought back tears. "I'm sorry that I brought it up."
Dean was about to say something but Christina turned and had headed into the woman's restroom.
Christina fought back tears as she stared into the mirror as she leaned on the sink. She knew she had messed up royally and wasn't sure how to face either one of her brothers. She had done similar things in the past where she would say something and regret it later. She had started to wish that she hadn't said anything to him and started to silently sob as she stood there. She loved both of her brothers and couldn't believe she had to say something that stupid. She continued to silently cry for a few more minutes until her phone dinged in her pocket. She quickly grabbed her phone and saw it was a text from Dean.
"Not mad at you. Sorry that I scared you." Christina felt the sincerity in his words. "Just mad at how I can't tell Sam anything. So why don't you come on out so we can get something to eat. Also you still have the keys so I can't leave even if I wanted to."
Christina chuckled slightly at her brother's priorities even though he cared more about herself and their brother but his tough boy attitude made him act the way he sighed and pressed the reply button on her phone. "I'll be out shortly." She sent out her reply and stared at herself in the mirror. She was happy he was at least not completely mad at her.

Christina pulled back into the parking stall in front of their hotel room when Dean handed her items she wanted and climbed out. As they opened their hotel door, Christina was confused as to why Dean just standing in the doorway before moving. She caught Sam standing up and slowly backing away from Dean which was rather out of character.
"You okay, Sammy?" Dean asked just as Christina closed the door behind them.
"No." Sam stammered hesitantly sitting down at the corner of his bed. Dean and Christina, worried about their brother took a seat so they were waiting for their brother to talk. "I just had something happen to me. I saw you, Dean, just shoot someone."
