Chapter: 1 Late working
Dexter isn't the type to be jealous—never in his life—but he did have a tendency to get annoyed. Sometimes, his experiments would fail or explode, but nothing ever compared to Dee Dee. She was no exception. She often made him want to scream and shout and pull the hair straight from his scalp. Her excuses were versatile.
I'm just trying to help!
But it's just so much fun being around you!
And the one he hated the most..
Older sisters know best!
He hated that statement; it was completely illogical! She in fact did not know best he was far more intelligent than his peers! His parents really didn't fully comprehend his intelligence. They even hired a Babysitter for the night! to him, it seemed unneeded (because he would mostly spend his time in the laboratory), but maybe for Dee Dee, if his parents intended them for him, he would gag.
Paining at such a thought, he clenched his wrench tighter, as he fastened it around the screw. Dexter sat his wrench down with a pained sigh, trying to settle his tender mind. He let his shoulders slouch, stepping back from his newest creation, which he had finally finished. He was now able to relax.
"Dexter, you in here?"
Well, not anymore.
Testing up, he quickly tried to cover the new invention knowing full well that if Dee Dee saw this, she would somehow find a way to destroy it. Whether it was by accident or on purpose, he will not let her see it. Just as Dee Dee skipped her way over to her little brother, she stopped right in front of him, bending down a little. That same overbearing smile on her face.
"What is it now Dee.." he asked, letting out a strained sigh.
"Oh, nothing pickier," she said rolling on her heels. "Other than mom told me to tell you dinner was ready!" She exclaimed proudly. Dinner? He had all forgotten about that.. he must have been focusing on this longer than he had expected, what time was it anyway? Sliding his coat sleeve down to see his watch, it was 7:46. hmm, usually we were eating at this point. I guess that's why Dee Dee was sent up to his room-
Suddenly something was shoved in front of his face, making him flinch back.
Looking down, it was a plate, and it was full of mashed potatoes and chicken with vegetables on the side, raising an eyebrow. He looked at Dee Dee. Something in her brain must have clicked when he looked at her because she began to speak, "Oh, and I told her you were studying, so she said you could just eat it while you were working!" She explained while handing the plate over to Dexter, he just watched as she went on a mindless ramble before stopping abruptly.
"Hey what's this!"
Dexter gasped quickly trying to turn her attention to something else, but it was all in vain. She simply pushed him aside and pulled at the cloth hanging over the large machine.
Gasping, Dee Dee jumped around it looking at all the detail, her mouth open in awe. Dexter quickly yet carefully put the pate down at his desk and ran over to his mindless sister, trying desperately to push her out of his lab. "Okay, okay that's enough looking and gawking time to leave!" Dexter said as he tried to shoo Dee Dee away from his new invention. " Aww, but Dexter, I just wanna see what it does!" She whined, reaching for any random button or lever she can get her fingers on.
They went back and forth like this for a whole minute before Dee Dee was able to slip out of his grip. Carelessly pushing on the buttons, causing the machine to respond with a menacing growl. As the machine began to vibrate, it jumped and shook, steam slowly started to appear around the frazzled machine. Dee Dee just stared mouth agape as she stood in front of the manic machine.
"Dee Dee watch out!"
She suddenly felt a strong push in her direction. A flash of light blinded her as she tried to look at her younger brother, putting her hand up to block out the light. It took a few minutes for it to settle, but when it finally did, she was met with Dexter covered in a red goop-like substance. He seemed pretty mad. "Oh, Dexter you're covered!" Dee Dee quickly sat up to aid her brother, but he put his hand up blocking her from getting any closer. He then let out a quiet sigh.
"This is why I didn't want you to touch it.." he said flatly.
"Well, at least it didn't blow up like last time," she giggled, not understanding the situation. All it did was leak a whole bunch of this gooey stuff!" she hopped as she pointed at the stuff around the lab. She could clearly hear Dexter's grumbling. "That's the point, Dee Dee! That's not supposed to happen. This is the energy for the machine that is all over me and my lab!" he yelled, Chasing Dee Dee around the laboratory.
Dee Dee had successfully escaped again, laughing as she went. Dexter just stood by the exit yelling his head off. "Next time you try to come in here I'll have a lock or a passcode! Or even a hand scanner so you can't get yourself in here!" He huffed before yelling his signature catchphrase
"STAY OUT OF MY LABORATORY!"
Slam!
Turning around, he looked at the poor state of his lab and sighed annoyingly. "This is going to take a while…" he muttered. After some time, he had cleaned the base of the lab from top to bottom, turning it back to its original state. He ate his food and got washed up. Too tired to do anything else, he went straight to bed.
Unknowingly to Dexter, he didn't clean up every drop from the machine.
Okay that was the end of chapter one! This story has been sitting in my doc for ages, I haven't really got around to writing the rest of it.. But I do plan on finishing it! Some things might be off with this story, as I wrote this chapter while still learning how to write fanfics. Also, things might be off with Dexter's home layout and whatnot because I haven't seen Dexter's Laboratory in YEARS! But hopefully this is still enjoyable.
