Chapter 3: Family Reunited

It had been a few hours since Planet Namek was destroyed.

Out in space, a space-pod was blasting through the vastness of space, heading towards its destination. Soon enough, the space-pod turned hard as it approached a nearby planet.

The space-pod descended towards the planet with the inhabitants wondering who it is. The space-pod crashed into the side of a building as an individual landed to inspect it.

The individual wore a mask and hood in order to hide his identity. He levitated to look at the space-pod.

Hooded Man: I should've expected that they arrive here at some point but to send a Ginyu Force Pod? What is Frieza's plan now?

The man spoke to no one. He wanted to figure out what was going on.

Hooded Man: First, I'll see who is inside and then I'll-

Before he could finish his idea, the hatch opened up and a body fell out of it.

It wasn't just anybody. It was Goku.

Goku managed to escape Planet Namek before it exploded.

The man flew down and saved the unconscious Goku before landing gently on the ground. The man turned Goku over to see his face and was shocked to see him.

Hooded Man: It can't be…

The man placed his hand on Goku's chest and made his hand glow. Though slowly, Goku's wounds began to heal.

Hooded Man: Please don't die on me.

Goku's wounds healed up after a while and he began to regain consciousness.

Goku: Ugh, what… happened to me? Where… am I?

Goku looked at the Hooded Man and saw a Saiyan Tail. Goku reacted to this by jumping backwards.

Goku: You're a Saiyan but how?

Hooded Man: Kakarot.

Goku: How do you know my Saiyan name?

Hearing Goku say that, confirmed what he wanted to know.

Hooded Man: I know who you are…

He began to remove his mask and hood revealing himself as Bardock.

Bardock:… because I am your father.

Goku was shocked to hear this.

Goku: M-My… father…

Bardock: Let's just say I managed to escape Planet Vegeta before it was destroyed. Your mother and I have been here on Planet Yardrat due to our spaceship suffering some damage. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a way to repair it.

Goku was surprised to hear this.

Bardock: I want you to know Kakarot, I personally sent you to Earth out of concern for your safety. I had a feeling the Saiyans would be doomed if I didn't do anything. I'm sorry you grew up without knowing anything about us.

Goku could tell that Bardock was telling the truth.

Goku: It's alright father.

Bardock's eyes widened a bit.

Goku: You did what you could to protect me. For that, I'm grateful.

Bardock: I do have a question. Have you might your brother Raditz?

Goku sighed at that.

Goku: Yes, I have met him but… we had a falling out.

Bardock didn't like where this was going.

Goku: The truth is, he came to Earth to look for me only to attack me and friends with the intention of murdering innocent people. I had to fight him off.

Bardock: You didn't kill your brother, did you?

Goku: Technically, we both died. We were killed by an old rival of mine named Piccolo. I was brought back to life by my friends on Earth.

Bardock: Dammit. I blame myself for this. Raditz was always stubborn and refused to listen.

Goku: If it makes you feel any better, I can use the Dragon Balls to wish Raditz back to life.

Bardock was shocked to hear this.

Bardock: You can wish back the dead?

Goku nodded with a smile.

Bardock: What kind of adventures have you been on?

Goku: I can tell you but I'm starving. Can we get a bite to eat first?

Bardock smirked before walking over to him.

Bardock: No problem, besides I know a place to get something good to eat.

Bardock placed a hand on Goku's shoulder and placed two fingers on his forehead. In an instant, they appeared in a makeshift house.

Goku: Whoa! How'd you do that?!

Goku was clearly intrigued by what his father did.

Bardock: That was Instant Transmission. I was taught how to use it by the people of Yardrat.

Soon enough, Gine walked into the room.

Gine: There you are, I was just about to come get... you.

Gine saw Goku standing with Bardock.

Bardock: Gine, we have a guest joining us for dinner.

Goku: So, she is my mother?

Bardock: Yes she is.

Gine's eyes widened. She walked over to Goku.

Gine: Are you really Kakarot? My youngest child? Is it really you?

Goku: My friends back on Earth call me Goku but yes, it is me.

Goku smiled at her and Gine teared up.

She hugged Goku immediately. She wept as she hugged him.

Gine: Over 20 years. We missed so much for over 20 years. I'm sorry we couldn't be there for you Kakarot.

Goku hugged her back.

Goku: Hey everything is alright. So please, don't cry... mother.

Gine looked at her son with loving eyes and wore a big smile.

Bardock smiled as well.

-Later-

Goku explained to his parents about his life on Earth, his friends, his many adventures, his mentors, and his greatest rivals. He also told them how the confrontation with Raditz went down. Gine was shocked and heartbroken to learn that Raditz died but was more shocked to learn he could be brought back to life.

The most shocking revelation they learned was that Goku was married and had a child.

Bardock: You married a princess?!

Gine: I'M A GRANDMOTHER?!

Goku: Well, yes to both questions.

Gine was elated by this while Bardock laughed.

Bardock: Huh, I'm surprised. Tell me is your son training to be a fighter too.

Goku: Unfortunately no. Chi Chi wants Gohan to be a Scholar.

Bardock scowled learning about that.

Bardock: Huh. Well that sucks.

Goku: But he does train. In fact, he's pretty strong.

That reminded Bardock of a question he wanted answered.

Bardock: That reminds me Kakarot, why were you in a Ginyu Force space-pod?

Bardock and Gine looked to Goku intently.

Goku: Is was escaping Planet Namek. I had a fight with Frieza and he attacked the planet's core. I was barely able to escape before the planet exploded.

Bardock and Gine were shocked. Hearing Goku so casually say he fought Frieza was surprising. Their son fought the Intergalactic Tyrant.

Bardock: You fought Frieza?!

Goku: Yes, I did. It was a tough battle but I was able to beat him.

This was also shocking to them.

Gine: Are you serious Kakarot?! You beat Frieza? The same Frieza who nearly wiped out our people?!

Goku was a little nervous but continued on.

Goku: Yes, I fought Frieza and defeated him.

Bardock and Gine were stunned but Goku continued.

Goku: I'll be honest. I didn't want to finish him off. I wanted to spare him but he left me no choice.

Bardock: No offense Kakarot but I can't see you beating Frieza. Only the Super Saiyan could do that.

Goku smirked at this.

Goku: Father, I would like to request a sparring match against you.

Bardock was taken aback by this. He didn't expect his son to be that strong, especially when remembering that Goku had a power level of 5 when he was an infant.

However, a part of him was itching for a good fight. Who knows maybe this could work out in his favor as well.

Bardock: Alright sure, you're on. But only after dinner.
