Chapter 11: Cooler's Revenge Part 1

A month has passed as everyone trained for the fight against the Androids. Goku, Piccolo, Bardock, and Gohan trained in an open field.

Gohan was allowed to train with everyone when Bardock made a compromise with Chi Chi. He promised that Gohan would continue his studies while also training with everyone.

Currently, Gohan was training with Bardock. The two began trading punches and kicks with each other until Gohan back flipped away and charged at Bardock. Bardock was hit with a knee gut causing him to reel in pain.

Keeping up the momentum, Gohan shot a barrage of Ki Blasts at Bardock. Bardock was able to counter and deflect all of them before turning to smirk at Gohan.

Bardock: You're doin pretty good kid. Your old man said you were pretty strong, and honestly, I'm impressed.

Gohan: Thanks but I've still got a long way to go.

Bardock: You do but your skills are improving. You just need to focus on your emotions better. Don't let your emotions get the better of you. You have to control them.

Gohan: Understood, let's keep going.

Bardock smiled as he took a stance to spar once more.

?: Hold on guys.

Gohan and Bardock looked to see Goku and Piccolo flying towards them.

Goku: I think that's enough training for today.

Gohan: Are you sure dad?

Goku: Of course, training is good an all but you also have to rest every once in a while.

Bardock realized Goku had a point. Bardock smiled as he patted Gohan on the head.

Bardock: Your father is right. There is no point in exhausting ourselves to death before the Androids appear. Besides, Kakarot has to help upgrade the Dragon Balls.

Piccolo: The Old Man is actually going back home. I was wondering when he would finally do that.

Goku: Do you want to go and talk to him a bit Piccolo?

Piccolo turned to the side and folded his arms.

Piccolo: Some other time.

Bardock: Do you two have issues or something?

Piccolo turned a bit.

Piccolo: Something like that, yeah.

Goku: I better get over to where Kami is. I can't sense where New Namek is so it's best to get to King Kai's Planet first and sense for Ki to New Namek.

Gohan then spoke.

Gohan: Oh yeah, dad. You'll have to miss out on the camping trip later today.

Goku sighed sadly.

Goku: Yeah, I know.

Bardock: You go on ahead, Gine and I will got to that camping trip in your stead.

Goku: Alright, take care everyone. I'll be back in a week.

Mt. Paozu/Goku's House

Chi Chi and Gine were cooking in the kitchen and talking. The two have managed to form a strong bond since their first meeting.

Gine: So you're not going camping with us?

Chi Chi: Unfortunately I can't, I promised my father I would help him with something far away. It would take me a couple of days to help him.

Gine: Now I just feel bad.

Chi Chi: Don't feel bad for me. Besides this would be a good chance for you and Gohan to have some time together.

Gine smiled at that.

Gine: Thanks. I do have to ask, why did Krillin ask for a camping trip with Kakarot, Bardock, and Gohan?

Chi Chi: I think it was just to spend time with them. While I personally want Gohan to study, I can't deny him some fun. Besides, I think it's fine if he takes a break every once in a while.

While talking, Chi Chi was cutting up a carrot when she accidently cut her hand.

Chi Chi: Gaaah!

Gine saw what happened and reach to hold her injured hand.

Gine: Don't worry, I think I can help.

Gine placed her hand over Chi Chi's wounded hand. Gine's hands began to emit Ki. Chi Chi's pained expression began to relax.

Soon enough, Gine removed her hands to show that Chi Chi's hand was healed.

Gine: There you go, good as new.

Chi Chi: You healed me, how did you do that?

Gine: It's something I learned on Yardrat. Bardock wasn't the only learning Spirit Control. In fact, that's how Bardock got so much stronger after training for so long.

Chi Chi: Would it be okay if you trained me a bit to use some of those moves?

Gine: Of course, I'd love nothing more.

The two continued on cooking and enjoying their together.

King Kai's Planet

On a small planetoid, a round blue-skinned deity was sweeping around when a banana peel was thrown in front of him. The deity stepped on the banana peel before slipping and falling on his back. The deity turned to the monkey who threw the banana peel.

?: Bubbles, what did I tell you about throwing banana peels in front of me?!

The monkey began jumping around and celebrating what he did when Goku and Kami teleported in between them.

Goku: Hey King Kai!

The round deity got off of the ground and greeted the pair with a cheerful smile.

King Kai: Goku, Kami, welcome!

Kami: Why were you on the ground?

King Kai: Bubbles decided to prank me by throwing banana peels at me to step on them. I nearly broke my back falling because of him.

Goku began snickering and tried his hardest to stop himself.

King Kai: That's not funny Goku!

At that point, Goku burst out laughing and couldn't contain himself.

Goku: I'm sorry but now you know what I had to deal.

Kami: King Kai would it be possible for you to tell us where New Namek is located?

King Kai over to the two.

King Kai: Why yes, I know exactly where it is.

King Kai's antennae began to move around before pointing to his right away from Goku and Kami.

King Kai: That's where New Namek is.

Goku: Thanks King Kai.

Goku placed two fingers on his forehead and began to sense for any Ki signatures. His face shows delight as he found what he needed.

Goku: I got a lock. Thanks for your help King Kai.

King Kai: No problem at all.

Kami grabbed on to Goku's shoulder.

Goku: Next stop New Namek.

In an instant, Goku and Kami teleported to New Namek.

-New Namek-

The Namekians were hard at work when Goku and Kami appeared in front of them. This alerted all of the Namekians.

Goku: Hey everyone, sorry for just barging in.

This caught the Namekians by surprise but were on guard in case they were threats. Elder Moori appeared from the crowd and spoke to them.

Moori: Hello stranger, who are you?

Goku: Sorry for my late introduction. I'm Goku, nice to meet you all.

Instantly, Moori's eyes widened with a huge smile forming.

Moori: Goku?! You're the Saiyan who saved our people from Frieza!

The Namekians went from on guard to running to Goku with admiration. He was a hero, even if Goku himself didn't think that he was.

Goku: It's nice to see you all. I brought a friend with me. This is Kami, our guardian on Earth.

Kami stepped forward and bowed.

Kami: It is good to see you all.

Moori: Likewise. It is an honor to meet with you again Kami. I take it you have something important to do with us, correct?

Kami: Yes, I want to know if you can train me to make the Dragon Balls on Earth stronger.

Moori: Of course, we would love to aid you in any way.

Kami and Goku smiled at the news.

Moori: I should let you know that it might some time to do so.

Kami: It's fine, besides I'm more than sure the people of Earth will be fine while I'm gone.

Campsite

Bardock, Krillin, Gohan, and Oolong were at the campsite with Krillin setting up the tables.

Bardock: Gine, said that it would take some time before she finishes the food, so it looks like we'll be here for a while.

Krillin: It's fine, besides, we can eat some food before she gets here. Hey Gohan, you got the firewood, right?

Gohan: Already on it Krillin!

Gohan smiled as he held a large log.

Bardock: Alright then, I'll go catch us a fish.

As Bardock to go catch a fish, Gohan threw the log in the air before jumping up. Gohan proceeded to punch and kick the log before falling back down. Gohan landed as the now symmetrically cut-up firewood landed perfectly in a triangular pile.

Gohan smiled as he clapped his hands.

Gohan: That's that.

Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched as three figures watched from the shadows.

From the lake, Bardock emerged with two extremely large fish.

Bardock: I'm sure we can meal out of you two.

As Bardock was getting out of the lake, he sensed the three figures.

Gohan was walking back to Krillin with the firewood.

Gohan: I've got the firewood Krillin.

A twig snapped causing Gohan to be alerted.

Krillin was stirring some soup not looking up.

Krillin: That's great bring over here Gohan.

There was a small splash in the lake alerting Krillin.

As Gohan and Krillin were alerted and realized they weren't alone, Oolong was starting to get freaked out.

Oolong: What's going on, you guy?

After a moment of silence, Oolong continued.

Oolong: Okay guys you're starting to freak me out. What's going on?

Krillin shushed him when he spotted someone behind Gohan.

Krillin: Behind you-

Krillin was kicked in the back of the head.

Gohan: Krillin!

Gohan was able to avoid an incoming attack but was hit with another attack instead. As Gohan was knocked out, he was grabbed and held up by his leg.

Cooler's Squadron had arrived and attack the two.

Dore: Nightie night. This Monkey destroyed Frieza?

Neiz: How pathetic. His fighting power isn't even at 50.

While Dore and Neiz were making fun of Gohan and Krillin, Salza was eating the soup Krillin was making. Oolong stood to the side in fear of his life. Luckily, before the group could turn to his direction, Bardock rushed over.

Bardock: Hey! You all have five seconds to put my grandson and my son's friends away before I get angry.

All three aliens looked to Bardock before Salza spoke.

Neiz: So you're the one who killed Frieza.

Bardock: Technically yes, but my son Kakarot beat him first.

Salza: That's right, Kakarot, or Goku if you want to call him that, was the Saiyan who beat Frieza.

Dore: Regardless, we'll just have to kill his pops first.

Dore threw Gohan into the tents, angering Bardock.

Dore: After that, then we'll kill Goku.

Neiz: It's time to pay for what you did to Frieza.

Bardock looked at them all closely and remembers them slightly. At that point, Bardock remembered them. Bardock grew a smirk on his face.

Bardock: Of course, I remember you three clowns now. Your the dollar store version of the Ginyu Force, Dore, Neiz, and Salza.

The three were angered by this.

Salza: I'll have you know Saiyan, we are elite fighters. Even the Ginyu Force wouldn't be able to touch us.

All three aliens began posing and shouting out together.

All three Aliens: WE ARE... COOLER'S ARMORED SQUADRON!

Bardock heard the name Cooler but couldn't remember who that was. Before he could figure that out, the aliens charged at him.

Bardock managed to dodge their attacks and lead them away from the campsite. Gohan managed regain consciousness and began to stand up.

Gohan: Be careful, Grandpa.

Cooler's Squadron attacked Bardock but he was able to evade all of their attacks.

The three surrounded Bardock and charged at him. Bardock showed concern of being attacked and blocked all of their attacks.

Bardock: Haaaaaaaaaa!

As Bardock yelled, he pushed them away with a shockwave.

Salza: So we found one that can fight.

As they were all spread apart, Bardock powered up and shot three Ki Blasts at all of them.

Neiz, Salza, and Dore countered the attack only for Dore to catch Bardock, who tried to attack him with a knee strike, and trap Bardock in a Bear Hug.

Neiz tried to fly in and attack Bardock only for Bardock to duck causing Neiz to knee Dore in the face. Bardock was released as the two started arguing.

Dore: What'd you do that for?!

Salza shot a blast Bardock but he was able to catch the attack and deflect it towards Neiz.

Neiz: It's not my fault, you should've held him tig- huh?!

The attack looked like it took Neiz's head off only for Neiz's head to rise again.

Neiz: Thank goodness, I protected my head. Huh?

As all for of them landed, the Squadron was shocked.

Salza: Sir, we didn't expect you to come here yet.

Bardock turned around to see Cooler. Soon enough, he remembered who Cooler was.

Bardock: You're Frieza's brother, Cooler, aren't' you?

Cooler still possessed a stoic look on his face.

Cooler: I'm glad you know who I am Saiyan.

Just as Bardock was about to do anything, Salza spoke.

Salza: Hey, the child is getting away.

Bardock turned to see Gohan carrying Krillin and Oolong away from the area.

Bardock: Gohan fly faster! You need to get away away!

Cooler: That won't be happening. I'll make sure everyone dies here.

Cooler's eyes began to glow before he shot beams from his eyes.

Bardock: NO!

Bardock teleported to Gohan and protected him from the blast, being hit in the back.

Gohan: Grandpa.

Bardock: Don't worry about me kid.

Bardock returned fire with a Ki Blast only for Cooler to catch and deflect the attack with a single hand. As Bardock and the others fell in to a river and off of a waterfall, Cooler charged forward and shot a blast causing a huge explosion.

Cooler stared at the bottom of the waterfall for a while but felt something was off.

Cooler: This one is interesting. He's an older Saiyan but he seems stronger than most. Is it possible that this Saiyan could be a Super Saiyan?

Salza: Nice work my lord.

Dore: Yeah, with two Saiyans dead the universe is a better place.

Cooler: They're not dead. Anyone that can tank an attack from my Death Beam can take a little swim. I want you to find them. Find them and kill them.

Cooler's Squadron: Yes sir.

Some camping trip huh? How will the others deal with Cooler and his Squadron.

Next time... The plan to stop Cooler. Plus, Gine to the rescue.
