T29: The Missing.
Brooklyn walked up to the door of Cameron, Leo and Rocco's bedroom and knocked on it. "Oh, boys, it's time to get up! Breakfast is ready!" No one answered, so she knocked again. "Hey, boys!" Not a peep. "Boys? Are you gonna sleep all day?" Still silent. Brooklyn opened the door and let out a gasp as her right hand flew to her mouth when she saw the three un-made beds on the left side of the room that Cameron, Rocco and Leo had slept in were now empty. To make matters worse, the boys were nowhere yo be seen. Even Mickey was gone.
Brooklyn move her hand away from her mouth and ran back downstairs and rushed through the living-room and into the dining-room.
"You guys!" Brooklyn said.
"Wow, that was fast. Are the boys up yet?" Monica said.
"No." Brooklyn said.
"No? What do you mean no? Are they still asleep?" Alice asked.
"No, they're not asleep...they're missing." Brooklyn said.
"Very funny, Brooklyn. Now where are the boys really?" Bill asked.
"I'm telling you...they are not here...they are not anywhere. Their beds are empty, the boys are gone. And so is Cameron's dog. They're gone." Brooklyn said.
"Gone? Gone where?" Ned asked.
"THAT'S WHAT I DON'T KNOW!" Brooklyn shouted. "Go look for yourself."
Monica, Ned, Olivia, Alice, Bill, Lulu and Dustin got up from the table and ran out of the dining-room, with Brooklyn following. They all rushed into the living-room, ran upstairs and into the boys' guest bedroom, which was now empty. The three beds they had slept in last night hadn't even been made. Mickey was also missing.
"Monica, call the police." Olivia ordered.
"Right away." Said Monica before leaving out of the room to head back downstairs and call the cops.
Brooklyn's cellphone buzzed and she reached into the right pants pocket of her red robe, got her black phone out, and looked at the screen and saw that a text had been sent from Leo. She logged into the text icon, followed by Leo's text, which read
On our way up to the forest of the Tofte mountains with a friend to help save a life. Please don't tell anyone.
Brooklyn's mind was now filled with all kinds of questions. Why had the boys snuck out last night? Why did they run away? Who was this friend they ran away with? And what did Leo mean when he said they were going to the forest part of the Tofte mountains to save a life? She didn't have any answers to these questions, but one thing was for certain: She wasn't going to betray Leo and give them away. After all, he was her little brother. And she wasn't going to let him down when she felt like he needed her the most. Her lips were sealed.
