Chapter One: Bellas arrival in Forks
Bella swan was an average girl in both the brains and looks department, atleast that's what everyone had told her throughout her 17 years upon this cold and unforgiving earth. Her father was the police chief for the locals Forks police department and he was extremly good at his job, some would even say he was obsessed with chasing down criminals.
Bella on the other hand just wanted a quiet life, nothing more or less since she left Phoenix where she had lived with her amitedly cooky mother, she had even gone to go have her palm read before coming to Forks. 'New beginings and falling in love with a nysterious artisitc stranger' yeah, that was Bellas future... and it only cost her mother 150 bucks.
What a crock of... well there was no need to swear. she was honestly suprised the lunatic fake gypsy women didn't tell her she would be howling at the moon or would be dying in a car crash soon. She had an air of crazyness about her, even though Renee her mother was close approaching the same kind of behavior at times it wasn't as if she could just bad mouth her own mother, kind of improper when you think about it.
Of course Bella couldn't be considered a typical girly girl or even a goodie two shoes type but she was sure of something about herself that she had never told anyone before and that one thing was something she hadn't even said out loud as of yet.
Bella Swan was gay and it wasn't even funny at this point, she had never even had a boyfriend or even wanted one. everytime she had been asked out and they were good looking guys, atleast That's what she had been told by her friends. She shot them down in the nicest ways she could.
Problem was that after awhile you get a reputation for being 'stuck up' and 'too good' for anyone and that really wasn't the case at all, plus she never liked the whole being someones girlfriend thing and everyone being all up in your buisness about it. seemed crazy to talk about private things like that with anyone and alot easier to just listen to some sad music or Set about your day with some kind of goal.
Problem was Bella had never been in love, so seeing things through a romantic lense was basically impossible for her at this point and as Her and Charlie drove into town she realised that maybe with all this rain she would be listening to the blues a hell of alot more. Phoenix seemed like a tropical sub saharan climate compared to Forks which seemed more like an average day in England with a much bluer tinge to everything.
"Bella, the school year is etarting in a few days and i have to know if there is anything you need before i send you off for the day" Charlie was sure Renee had actually been school supply shopping with his daughter before he had picked her up from the airport but he wanted to make sure as it was his job as her father to atleast make sure she was fully prepared.
"Mum already helped me out in that department, could probably use a few bucks for a morning coffee though... waking up sucks without being fully caffeinated, but you should know that being police chief and all" Bella gave her father a warm smile, she knew he was proud of his promotion last year and she could see his mustache curl up into a prideful smirk as she mentioned his new position.
"Guess you really do take after me in some aspects, probably good you can't grow a moustache though... it'd look pretty damn terrible" Charlie joked and he was pleased to see his daughter play along as she stroked her own imaginary mouetache and comtemplated it for a moment, how it would be to have a moustache herself.
Bella lightly chuckled as she looked over to Charlie, "I dunno, it'd keep my top lip warm... look dignified, eating soup might be a pain but I'll just pray that i don't get sick and really hit the coffee hard if i do" Bella grinned as charlie tapped her shoulder in an awkward way and grumbled out some words.
"I've missed ya kiddo..." Charlie voice was that kind of deep and booming dad voice Bella wasn't accustomed to hearing but she liked it. she definetly preferred it to her mothers at this point, high pitchee hippie screaming coukd get a bit annoying every other day.
"Fine... i'll keep the stash trimmed. can't have ya getting all soft on me Mr police chief" Bella chuckled as she used her right arm to cross her chest and grab hold of her Fathers before he eventually had to pull his large hand back from hee shoulder and switch gears passing the only local diner in town.
"Glad to hear it, i really don't think you could pull of such a glorious stache anyway... it's kinda my trademark you know" Charlie kept on driving as Bella looked out of the passenger window as she took in the dreary sights Forks had to offer.
She did think to herself that the town would be alot more pretty if only there was a little bit more sun and yet the wet and blue gray atmosphere did have an almost magical air about it that she couldn't quite put her finger on. She would love to take some time to just explore some of the wooded areas and enjoy the more moss covered types of nature that now surrounded her.
It was only a few minutes later when they both arrived at Charlies house, well she knew it was also her house how until graduation and she found herself feeling oddly charmed by the decent sized house in the middle of a small wooded area that Surrounded them and gave her a feeling of safety you didn't really get with the almost flat desert plains of Phoeix Arizona.
"You're old room is pretty much the same, just tell me if you need anything and we'll go buy anything you can't be without. Within reason though, i'm not loaded even if i do have a well paying job" Charlie helped Bella carry her luggage to the door and helped her inside as he reminded her where everything was situated and she got acclimatised to being back in Forks pretty fast as she spent time with Charlie getting a hang of the ropes.
He even managed to buy her an old truck from his best friend down on the reservation and even though it was quite a fixer upper she kind of liked the challenge of it all. getting her hands dirty and breaking a sweat over the weekend could actually be alot of fun. Jack Black had even offered to help her as Charlie and his old friend watched the Packers on the new flat screen.
In the glove box there was even a dusty old users manual and a book which basically told her what ever part was, where it was situated and how to maintain this old beast. Jake even showed her how to unstick the clutch and that was a god send as she had never drove such a run down old rust bucket before and that made her think of ways she could make money to get this old clunker back into tip top shape.
She had watched the latter half of the game with her father and Jake had actually told her if she needed help finding parts they could hang out down on the reservation where he fixes up bikes and similar cars for fun in his spare time and she was actually suprised when she got Charlie to agree to allow Jacob to help her fix up the old new car as long as they were safe and asked him for help whenever they needed it.
When everyone had left Charlie asked her what she thought of the old car and was pleasently suprised to see her nose down and studying the user manual and getting herself aquainted with the old beast. and when they were eating dinner together she had actually laid out a plan to refurbish the clunker from what she had seen underneath the hood and would try and find a part time job so she could atleast get the thing a fresh coat of paint.
"I'll see if i can help find you a job, i know the sporting goods is hiring and i'm friends with the owner so i'll pop down after work tommorow but only if you go to bed early and get some much needed rest before your first day at school tommorow kiddo" Charlie helped wash up and Bella said goodnight and kissed her loving father on the cheek as she climbed the stairs and actually managed to get a good nights sleep.
~~*
I had never been so ready for a new start before in my life and the best thing to do was take advantage of it to the best of her ability. she would be polite, drop a joke here and there and keep herself to herself if she could and hopefully no one would question how the new girl from Phoenix was so unbearably pale.
She parked in one of the far empty spaces and got herself together pretty quickly as she looked at her reflection in the side mirror and realising she didn't clean up that bad in tight ripped jeans and a pair of blue converse with black and silver mixed laces. her vest and tight fitting blue hemp shirt wifh rolled up sleeves really showed her fashion sense was more alternative much like her secret lifestyle she had yet to indulge in.
Her backpack was small but held everything she needed as she swung it round her shoulders and locked her old clunker of a fixer upper before making her way over to the main school building to enter reception and sign in before collecting her new timetable and hopefully a map or something wo she didn't get lost but that was unlikely.
It had only taken her 15 minutes to get her new timetable printed out and although she didn't get hold of a map she was directed to her first class, Biology 101 situated in the east block. She had made her way among the other students pretty quickly and entered the classroom without any trouble and sat down at the back of the class at an empty double desk which she quickly filled and opened her notebook willing to learn.
Student poured in and most of them seemed annoyed to be back at school and some even looked at her with odd looks as if she didn't quite belong and in all fairness she really did feel as if that was actually the case as the looks persisted as the class had begun.
A few minutes into the class there was a late arrival that almost swept Bella off her feet as the lithe pixie of a women came floating into her first class and her eyes which were outlined with unearthly gold rings that seemed to transfix instantly upon her own. She had apologized to the teacher and not walked but glided over effortlessly to sit right next a now very nervous Bella.
She had no idea why she was so nervous, no one had ever made her feel this way before, it was a cross between danger and longing. She had to stifle a sudden gulp which she was certain Alice had heard somehow but she was still halfway across the room and nearing closer and she could smell something like mangos fill the air but sweeter.
The statuesque beauty slotted herself perfectly down besides Bella and didn't take her eyes off the smaller girl for what felt like an eternity and yet she couldn't break eye contact with the stylish younng women.
She was the first one to break the silence as Bella could barelt speak, stunned by the womens impossible beauty. "I'm Alice Cullen and you must be Isabella Swan. new girls usually cause quite a buzz and i would of remembered you from last year and you were definetly not here last year" Her musical voice was low and hidden from the rest of the class and came out as a private whisper only shared between themselves.
Bella's mind was momentarily blank but managed to quickly re-orient itself rather quickly as she realised boys and girls strewn about them in class stealing looks at the beautiful girl who had just joined them and she really couldn't blame anyone for not being able to keep their eyes off of her.
Bella plucked up the courage from god knows where and managed to blurt out something, anything that hopefully sound like speech. "How, how can you be so sure i wasn't her last year... maybe i had a growth spurt or... I'm Bella, you can call me Bella" She had switched her train of thought mid conversation and something in Alices eyes told her she had found that quite endearing rather than weird or loser'ish.
"Bella... It's a pretty name" Alice let the name hang on her tongue as she placed her notebook on the table and began to instead of taking notes, Draw an extremly detailed sketch of someone who she couldn't quite place but the girl worked fast.
"So how are you enjoying Sunny Forks Bella, probably not as exciting as it could be but apart from the wind and the rain it is quite charming after awhile" Alice had asked her without taking her eyes from pencil and paper and thankfully most students had stopped looking over at the fairy like beauty and began to pay attention to the teacher and that allowed some of the social pressure Bella was feeling to finally dissapate.
However the odd new sensation of nerves she felt around this apparently artistic women had really managed to get their deep claws into her and she just didn't understand why. "I'm not really that into the rain and cold, Phoenix didn't really have alot of it you know... more sand and cacti... and the good old heatwaves of course".
Alice smirked as she listened but turned towards Bella to look at her features once again before going straight back to sketching, her thin long arm was hiding the sketch of what looked like a women but Bella spent more time gazing at Alices chiselled features trying to commit them to memory.
"Can't say i am a fan of the sun, you can probably tell that by how pale i am but then again so are you... good skin care is important" Alice let a slight grin form upon her perfect red lips and she turned slightly to look over at Bella again and her features softened as she held Bellas gaze for a long time before letting it go again and giving her full focus back towards her art.
"My mother's a hippie so yeah, skin care is really important... may i ask what you are sketching or is that a private kind of thing i should keep my nose out of" Bella whispered softly and at first she wasn't sure Alice had heard her but after a few moments of silence between them she gave her a response.
"Just sketching a beautiful women, it's good to keep my skills sharp... if you don't use it then you lose it. well that's what my brother says, sound like an old man doesn't he?" Alice asked as she continued sketching away and the teacher was introducing the class to the bulk of their classwork this coming semester.
"Sounds a bit grandpa like yeah, but don't tell him i said that" Bella found herself lightly smiling as Alice turned back to look at her with a quizzical look plastered across her perfect face, it almost seemed like the young woman had stopped herself from breathing before she spoke.
"Why's that? maybe i should, he does need knocking down a peg or two every now and then" Alice had a cheeky and playful glint in her eyes and that playfulness was attractive, she was attractive. Gods was she attractive, to the point it almost hurt to look at her for long periods of time.
Bella looked towards the front of the class and around to make sure no one was looking at them before she spoke. "Now i don't have a brother but i'm pretty sure you'd cause a big fight if you refer to him as a Grandpa. just maybe say it in a nicer way" Bella fiddled with her pen nervously and it made Alice even more playful as she realised Bella was trying her hardest to be cool and normal, it was cute from her persepective and she had no idea that Bella was a complete shipwreck internally right now.
"Ahhh I see, i'll call him a cantankerous old fart whenever he watches a black and white movie again or plays something sad on the piano... be indirect, got'cha" Alice cocked an imaginary finger gun and pretended to let a shot off and then rolled her pencil about her dextrous fingers effortlessly.
"Maybe just be nice and let bygone be bygones... well unless you really have to i guess" Bella began taking notes and tried her hardest to pay her full attention to the teacher but she just couldn't no matter how hard she tried, it was as if her eyes were addicted to stealing glances of Alice at every chance she could.
Moments passed and Bella had tried her hardest to focus on anything else, the short kid playing his gameboy color undee the desk or the black kid doing some origami and making a very convincing penguin with some blue colored paper he must of brought to class with him. Anything to dull the boredom seemed to be the name of the game in this school and the teacher obviously knew people were barely paying attention but a paycheck is a paycheck.
Alice took one long and pressing look at Bella who felt oddly small under her golden eyes but couldn't for the life of her look away, as if she was a deer in the headlights for some mighty predator. A predator with a perfect ass that made her jealous of the stool beneath her, how was it possible she couldd be jealous of a beaten and chipped and extremly well sat on wooden school stool.
"When i'm done sketching i'm going to need your opinion on it, I hope you have an eye for art" The tone in Alices voice was soft and her words hung so effortlessly in the air it was almost as if she hadn't spoken them at all but sent them telepathically through some unknown connection they both now shared.
"Me too, but now you've got me intrigued... kinda hope it's not a joke where you just show me a stick figure with a fat cigar and huge boobs or something as some poorly thought out joke" Bella raised her eyebrow as Alice lightly chuckled just low enough that no one even thought to turn around and it made everything alot easier that Alice had such great control of her vocal range.
Alice whispered back as she finished up her sketch and stood her book up to prepare Bella for her presentation. "Good to know you're not a bad joke teller and maybe a bit of a boob girl, Don't worry... i won't hold it against you" Alice looked Bella up and down and it almost seemed like she had been sizing her up but for what she had no earthly idea.
Alice was wearing a lightly flowing shirt that accentuated all of her very well proportioned frame, her tight blue jeans must have been a gift from on high as Bella had no idea how it was possible for any women to be so blessed in the body department. she would of been drooling if she hadn't remembered that she wasn't a hungry, slobbering dog and was in fact a 17 year old girl who just happened to be secretly, very gay.
Alice turned the book and revealed an almost photo realistic version of Bella and it was so much prettier than she had ever seen herself that at first she hadn't realised Alice had been sketching her the entire time through their slow and quiet conversation they hid from everyone else.
"Wow! i mean... you're a professional. Who is that? she's quite pretty... is that someone you know?" Bella was so sure Alice had drawn someone from memory that when Alice blinked in confusion and stared at her as if she had completly missed the point, she hadn't realised that she had indeed missed the point entirely.
Alice shook her perfectly symmetrical face and then spoke in a kind and understanding way that Bella wasn't very used too considering her mother was a hyperactive Hippie and her father was a rough and stoic police chief.
Alice pushed the picture closer "It's you Bella, i sketched you... it's rare i find such a handsome subject to sketch... i hope you don't mind" her eyes were wondrous and golden and held her own muddy brown with very little at all.
Bella scoffed and almost laughed as she genuinely believed this was some sort of joke she didn't quite understand, "Oh, ok... this is a joke, i certainly don't look anywhere near as good as this girl in your sketch. Flattering if you really think so but very unrealistic" Bella pushed the beautiful sketch back towards Alice carefully as to not damage it and tried her hardest to focus on what the pudgy looking biology teacher was going over to the entire class.
Alice wasn't mad or even shocked but she was definetly confused, perplexed even that the girl next to her had been so dismissive of her own beauty. Alice had secretly noted how many of the boys and a few girls in this class alone had spent just as much time checking out Bella as they usually did herself.
"I do think so, it's a shame you don't own a mirror because if you did my sketch would look almost perfect... i'm never good with eyes though" Alice was just being kind, saying she wasn't good at sketching eyes as it was an absoloute lie but it was easier to have Bella think she was still learning than the fact that she secretly had decades of experience and hadn't sketchee a bad picture since before the moon landing.
Bella sighed as she furned back and looked at the picture and then Alice "Your sketch is perfect, it's just obviously not me... but smooth, you are very smooth" her eyes darted back to the front of the class before she see Alice grin happily as she realised this young girl had just implied she had been flirting with her. and maybe she had but she had never realised she had been so obvious with it until now.
She had first clocked Bella when she was in the parking lot talking to her brother Edward who himself was whining about a young human called Jessica who had constantly flirted with him at every chance she got and that girl knew how to really corner him good and proper. Her ability to corner her brother was almost supernatural and if she ever spent more than five minutes thinking about anything else she might actually realise that Edward and Jasper were gay.
Mind you what could she say, this was the first time she had ever flirted with anyone, Her blood was a powerful scent and she was obviously a Singer, a person whose blood spoke to her but it wasn't the blood that had drawn her in at first. No it was her face and then her body and then before she had realised what she was doing she had just wandered off as Edward and Jasper were flirting as usual in hushed tones and they hadn't even realised she had left until it was too late.
She had even stood outside of the class and steeled her nerves before she went inside and then everything had played out as it had. Alice had focused her golden eyes on Bella soft pink and perky lips, she had wanted to taste them even more than her blood, blood which screamed at her from beneath those well hidden and delicious looking neck veins.
"I try to be, but maybe if you let me sketch you more then i'll get it down and perfect my craft alot quicker... course that means you'll have to put up with me alot more but i'm sure i can make it worth your while" Alice ripped a piece of paper from the back of her notebook and scribbled down some numbers before handing them to Bella and their finger brushed together by accident, causing Bella to shudder under the intense cold feeling of her slender hands.
"Sorry, terrible circulation... but that's my cell number, just in case you need anything" Alice watched as Bella took out her own Nokia cell phone and noted it looked relatively new and Bella didn't really know how to work it that well so she held out her hand and waited for the young beauty to hand it to her and to her suprise she actually did.
"Here, technology can be tricky... I hope that won't stop you from texting me back though, might save us from whispering so much" She handed the cellphone back to Bella and low and behold her name and number was right there with a little love heart next to her name and Bella had ho idea how she had done that but thought to herself it was kinda neat.
Bella was happy her mother had put her on a payment plan with unlimited texts and internet but she wasn't quite sure why, it wasn't something she had really thought about before as the phone was really just for emergencies and she hadn't really expected it to get much use before now.
"I'm sure i can figure it out... maybe... hell I'll give it a go at least" Bella placed her phone back in her pocket and tried again for what felt like the thousandth time and yet again Alice managed to pry her focus away from the teacher and back towards her instead.
"I know this might sound strange but kind if i check your timetable, i'm interested to see if we have anymore classes together... call it a personal curiosity if you will" Alice received her timetable and her emotions were filled with happy thoughts until she saw her brother would be sharing a class with her after lunch and she didn't need him working his mojo on her, he was gay but if he read her mind and told Alice what she was thinking or berated her on handing her number out there would be hell to pay not just from him but from her father also.
"Most of our classes are the same, oh you are sharing English with my brother... try not to think about me too much when you're around him. it's like he can read minds or something, super creepy" Alice gave her such a cocky grin she had tricked Bella into thinking she was only flirting with her rather than giving Bella a direct command since her vampire brother could in fact read minds and Bella obviously didn't know he could do that.
Bella bit her bottom lip before she whispered back "And who said i would be thinking about you during English class, i'll obviously be enraptured by whatever play or sonnet we'll be analysing for the next few months" Bella couldn't help but run her tongue across her teeth and Alice had noticed even though she had turned away to do so.
Bella had turned away and was pretty sure Alice hadn't seen her run her tongue across her teeth and if she had noticed then the beautiful model of a girl was very discreet. Bella didn't really want her to think she was some type of sex crazed and flirty lesbian afterall, hell she had never even been with anyone before so it wasn't like she even knew how any of that kind of behavior should or would feel.
Alice on the other hand seemed to quite enjoy this cute nervous girls flirting, she had also never been with anyone before and flirting most certainly wasn't her forte, yet it seemed almost natural right in this moment. It was as if she was running on autopilot and this was just as natural as breathing was, not that she had to breath but Bella didn't know that.
"Well maybe if you walk with me to our next class and tell me more about yourself... maybe you'll be able to keep your mind off of me during English" Alice didn't really like the idea of Edward reading her mind and finding out how unnaturally flirty she was being with this handsome and nervous human girl. Although she would enjoy knowing what iind of thoughts she was having right now as the poor girl was trying her hardest not to squirm in her seat under Alice's powerful gaze.
"And will you tell me about yourself or am I the only one being milked for information today?" Bella turned her head and gave Alice a wry smile, her eyes glistening in the cold and dull grey light barely shining through the window from outside.
"Hmmm, I usually don't talk about myself all that much... but maybe I'll let something slip, if you give good conversation that is" she had let her tongue hang a little bit when she had mouthed the word 'slip' and it hadn't escaped Bellas notice as a pleasurable shudder seemed to vibrate throughout the girls tight little body and it took Alice all her focus not to lean in closer and purr in her ear and whisper sweet nothings.
Bella whispered back nervously "I'll try, i mean... can't wait" she brushed some stray her away from her eyes that had fallen and placed it back behind her ear and Alice had to stop breathing as this crazy girl had just exposed her slender, gorgeous neck to the secretive vampire. The smell of her sweet smelling shampoo couldn't compare to the smell of her delicious blood pumping increasingly hotter undernearh her perfectly pale skin.
Alice steeled her nerves ans pushed the hunger back down deep and happily continued to flirt "I hope you don't mind me asking cause it mind seem weird but, what shampoo do you use... i couldn't help but notice you smell really good" Alice had went straight from flirting too creepy in seconds flat and mentally began slapping herself until she noticed Bella porcelain features turn an impossibly cute shade of pink and realised her words might have been less creepy than she had originally thought.
Bella stammered out her words as she had no idea how to respond to such a beautiful, lithe women such as Alice saying something so forward and unexpected. "Umm.. well, my mother packed me some Herbal essences and other toiletries before i left so i guess... the tropical one, i didn't really pay much attention i guess" now she herself was mentally berating herself for not only failing to remember the type of shampoo she used but also for stumbling over every possible thought and words she conjured.
Bella had never been so unprepared to talk to someone before in her life, but then again she had never met anyone even nearly as close to Alices beauty before and it was begining to hit her, Bella had a type. She had a thing for expressive pixies who had faces that seemed like they were chiseled out of perfect marble and flirt like their lives depend on it.
"I usually go for something cherry scented, but maybe i could change it up every now and then. What do you like the smell of?" Alice was now being way top forward as she had only just met the girl and yet from the moment she had spied this beautiful young women from the parking lot it was as if she had known her for a lifetime already.
Bella was still blushing wildly but the way Alice spoke made her drop whatever gaurd she had constructed long ago and her openess just shined through "Cherries actually sounds nice or something fruity and sweet is always good... i mean you smell great right now so i guess keep doing what you're doing" Bella wanted to slap herself in the face but refrained from doing so as some sort of attempt in not seeming weirder than she probably already did.
Alice inched closer whilst making sure no one was looking and whispered playfully in Bellas ear "I have no problem wearing cherry or something sweet just for you... I won't tell anyone if you won't" Alice had to bite her lip and stop breathing again before she found herself sinking lower and licking Bellas beautifully slender neck in the middle of their first class together.
She had to stop herself from flirting so wildly before she actually acted upon her newfound desires or the whole class was about to be introduced to a side of her she never knew existed in herself before today. She knew she found women attrwctive and never had any interest in men but she had never even tried to dive head first into those desires before so all of this was brand new territory for her and that was even more scary than her desire to drink this pretty young things delicious blood.
Bella was breathless as she responded to Alice's delightful flirting "I won't say a word... promise" her core tightened in response to Alice letting out just a slight purr that sent shivers towards all the best places and now she was absoloutly sure Alice was trying to seduce her and for the life of her she had no reason as to not let it happen.
She had never thought her first day in Forks high school would go like this and in all honesty she didn't even know if this Alice was even really gay or just leading her on and yet she wanted to see where this would possibly go. But she still had to be on her gaurd none the less, homosexuality wasn't exactly accepted or really tolerated, not in small towns anyway. People might like lesbians but that was usally when they were watching them in the privacy of their own home with a bottle of lube and a box of Kleenex.
Alice tried to focus herself on the class as Bella had and didn't really want to have to lure Bella into the bathroom, push her into a stool and have her way with the unsuspecting thing. But the lust to do so was definetly there and she had to reign herself in before her desires made a fool out of them both.
Bella had taken as many notes as she could but couldn't help herself but steal glances at the statuesque fairy like queen of a women who herself also kept stealing her own glances everytime she was sure Bella was looking away and towarda the front of the class.
The class actually went by very quickly, a little to fast for both of their liking but the next class was just another excuse to get to know each other and both girls actually waited to make sure they were the last out of the class and walked together whilst discussing what a usual school day looked like and Alice couldn't help but smile as she got to know this Isabella Swan just a little better.
From a distance her brothers if they could really be called that had noticed the uncharacteristic change of their sister and showed a mix of fear and confusion on their faces as their usually very quiet sister seemed to be joking around with the new girl and if they didn't know better they would both think she was flirting with her.
Edward had even caught a glimpse of his sisters thoughta and they seemed to be jovial and Japser who could read and control emotions had felt a wave of something waft off Alice he had never felt before, Bliss. He refused to tell Edward what he had felt from her but told him Alice wasn't hunting but in fact just seemed to be enjoying the conversation she was having with the new girl, he just didn't want him to know how much.
They both kept their distance and would speak to her over lunch about this sudden and uncharacteristic behavior from their beloved sister, maybe she was just being polite and had taken a genuine liking to the new girl and yet the likelihood of that being the case considering what they are was very low and they all knew it. both went away to their classes and hoped and prayed Alice wasn't making a mistake but they both knew she had the second best control in their coven and Alice would be able to see any mistake coming and course correct if she needed too.
Bella had found all of her lessons before lunch to be the best lessons she had ever suffered through but it wasn't for the quality of their content, in fact she wasn't really sure what most of the lessons were even about as she hadn't really payed that much attention at all.
Her eyes had mostly been on the perfect creature who had taken a sudden interest in her without warning and if she was a hundred percent honest with herself, she really enjoyed the attention and who wouldn't if Alice Cullen had spent the entire first half of the day flirting with you. Bella however didn't really believe Alice was flirting and just thought that maybe she was a very outwadd and open kind of person and as the classes went on she had noticed more and more people staring at them both as if they were doing something strange.
It wasn't until lunchtime had come around that Alice had said she had to go and spend it with her family who also attended this school and although she felt like she wanted to spend alot more time with the graceful pixie women who had enraptured her with her femimine wiles, she knew it was the right thing to let her go and enjoy her lunch with those she loved and not be so posessive.
Bella had to admit however she loved to watch Alice walk away and by the looks from alot of the other student so did they, those jeans almost seemed like they were painted on and should be made illegal in all 50 states. Being that god damn good looking should also be illegal and yet Bella concluded no one in their right mind could ever pass so a cruel and unyielding law, no law that ever made such a beauty forbidden should ever be allowed to pass.
~~*
Bella had met a cute looking nerdy asian girl in the line called Angel and she had introduced herself so quickly that she had almost given her whiplash from the sheer speed of how their conversation progressed. Before she knew it she had her lunch already on the tray and was getting introduced to a blonde boy called mike and a quite pretty girl who was refered to as Jessica the moment she sat down With Angela.
"So Bella how's the weather treating you in Forks, we heard you're from Arizona so can't imagine the lack of vitamin D is doing you any good" Mike tried to joke but it just came off as a little try hard and that was when Jessica butted in with her own observation.
"Aren't people from Arizona supposed to be like, really tanned..." Her eyes had looked Bella up and down but in no way the same as Alice had, it was as if she was sizing her up as competition. Bella could already tell she had a thing for Mike and she had no reason to get involved in whatever drama was going on between them.
"Yeah, that's probably why they kicked me out" Bella gave an awkward smile and a long pause and both Jessica and Mike laughed awkwardly as if they were humoring her and that was probably for the best as she didn't really want to explain to them how avoiding the sun was actually pretty easy if you didn't wanna look like a haggard old sun ripened tomato most days of the year.
"I heard you and Alice Cullen seemed to hit it off, that seems like a miracle in itself" Angela spoke softly with a crooked smile that seemed like she was just dying to get out the first day of schools gossip but it only ended up in Bella wearing a confused look as both Mike and Jessica looked at her with a look that could only be described as a cross between shock and awe.
"Wait, Alice Cullen was speaking to someone without the Cullen last name... are you sure you didn't hit your head and dream that Angela? it sounds like make believe anyway" Jessica took a bite of her apple and just shook her head in disbelief as she dismissed Angelas tall tales as just that, tall tales.
"What's so weird about Alice talking to me? she's actually pretty interesting..." Bella blurted out as the doors swung open and the first of the Cullens entered the lunch hall, a bombshell blonde wrapped around the arms of a muscle bound pretty boy who were both dressed way to well for any regular high schooler.
Bellas eyes as well as most of the lunch rooms followed both of the Cullens to their usual spot in the back of the lunch room and Jessica decided to explain who they were "The blonde one is Rosalie and the cute muscle boy is Emmet, their kind of an item... their foster father is the local rich doctor and also aparently one hell of a match maker" Jessica joked tothe table in a low tone hoping no one would hear her, well mainly the two Cullens.
"Yeah shame they won't adopt me, Edward orJasper would look pretty damn good on my arms if i do say so myself" Angelas eyes were glazed over and as both boys walked in on cue she could kind of understand why, They were both tall and handsome blondes but they also seemed just as close as Emmet and Rosalie but she couldn£t place why and Bella wasn't sure if anyone else had picked up on it yet as she had. but then again maybe they were just close and it was nothing at all but an odd feeling.
"The short haired blonde is Edward Cullen, totally gorgeous and aparently too damn good for any girl here, not that I care or anything" Jessica almost whispered the last part but it was as if Edward had heard her as he smirked just out of reasinable sight but that would be impossible from the other side of the room.
"Jaspers the one who looks like he's about to collapse any moment, possibly anemic but very cute and quiet... also too good for anyone here aparently or just really shy, it's hard to tell cause he just walks away from everyone when they try to talk to him" Angela was unapolegetically checking him out and it was obvious she had quite the thing for him but Bella didn't want to call her out and embarass the poor girl.
"Maybe he's just nervous, I kinda get that you know, plus if this town gets any grayer i might get diagnosed with weather depression any day now" Bella joked as she took a bite of her school lunch and realised she really didn't like the taste at all but free protein was free protein and she needed the energy to keep up with Alice if she was to speak to her again anytime soon.
As if on cue she came gliding into the cafeteria and her eyes shot instantly to Bella before she had even realized her Family were looking her way from across the lunch hall with intense stares and happy smiles. Bella thought to herself 'It must be nice to have such a large family that smiles like that when they see you' and she was almost lost in her own thoughts as she hadn't even realised Jessica had been talking again.
"You met Alice, she's the artistic on who keeps to herself alot and..." Before Jessica even had a chance to finish her sentence Alice had danced over to Bella effortlessly and said hello to the whole table as not to seem rude.
"Hey guys, oh! Bella we have art together for our lesson of the day, i'll save you a seat if you'd like" Alice had came in like a muscial hurricane and almost knocked the small table off their collective feet and as she waited for Bella to reply she couldn't help but chuckle internally on the effect she had on Mike, Angela and Jessica. The latter of which she didn't really like the idea of Bella hanging around as Edward had constantly made it clear that reading her thoughts was simply the worst next to that bitch he called Lauren the harlot.
"That'd be nice, I'll see you there... unless you'd like to sit with us, there is plenty of space, right guys?" Bella couldn't disconnect from her eyes and if anyone hadn't realised she was completly enraptured by the lithe perfectly sculpted vision of a girl then they were either blind or also caught helplessly in her unearthly golden eyes. Which they all were so no one was going to out Bella today as the whole cafeteria seemed to go deathly quiet and focused on them and their table alone.
"I'd love too but... I think my family would be pissed if i blew them off on the first day of school..." Alice gave Bella a warm Smile before she turned to the rest of the table and put on her most charming looks and held them all as putty in her hands.
"I hope you don't mind looking after Bella for me until our next class together, Edward always said you seemed like a trustworthy kind of girl Jessica..." Alice watched as Jessicas eyes almost popped out of her skull at the mention of her obvious crush saying something, anything nice about her.
"Edward... said that about me, how sweet of him" Jessica almost seemed to have lost her breath as she spoke and she definetly couldn't deny her obvious crush now but then again if Mike and Angelas full attention hadn't been on Alice they would have instantly seen such a headstrong girl like Jessica turn into a lovestruck mess before their eyes and probably teased her viscously for it.
"I'll do my best, tell him I said hello... if you want to..." Jessica was so flabbergasted that she could barely even look at Alice anymore and was blinking wildly before she just placed her head down and focused more on her food and Bella couldn't believe how easily Alice had turned the admitedly strong willed and pretty girl into a shy and blushing mess with so few words, it would be considered almost supernatural if her family hadn't been so unbearably handsome.
"Owe ya one Jessica, see you later Bella" Alice placed a soft and tender hand on Bellas shoulder and the electricity between them was palpable before she slowly walked off towards her families table and left the entire table silent and admitedly confused for longer than any of them would have liked to admit.
"Wow... guess Angelas gossip was on point for once..." Mike whispered before Angela slapped the back of his head and he cried out in pain as Bella couldn't help but burst out laughing as the poor boy ducked a flying chunk of carrot that almost hit Jessica. She hadn't even noticed as her eyes darted over towards Edward who seemed to be in a deep conversation with his sister who had just made her way to his table.
"Mike dude, learn to whisper better man... before Angela covers you in whatever the hell this slop is" Bella gave the food she barely wanted to eat a mean look and Angela stopped slapping mike up and he wordlessly thanked Bella and agreed with hee the food wasn't that great at all.
"Maybe i need to stop by the local coffe shop before school and just bundle up on snacks for lunch cause this 'cuisine' aint doing it for me" Bella chucked her plastic prison ass looking fork down and couldn't stomache another bite.
"The local coffee spots pretty good, they do gingerbread lattes now... ain't as good as the Starbucks down by Port angeles but they hit the spot when you need a ceffeine rush" Jessica finally spoke up after she let herself conquer the sudden bout of girlishness she had experienced after Edward Cullen had been mentioned in conjunction to her.
"Well that settles it, gingerbread lattes and random chocolate bars to get me through the year, or whatever they have there... i really can't be picky with this stuff i guess" Bella pushed the tray a little bit away and couldn't help but fidget in her chair as she turned her head to see all the Cullens staring at her with odd looks on their faces exceot for Alice who just gave her a soft and soothing smile before she turned back around and caught Mike still getting an ear full from a very pissed of Angela.
"My gossip is the best gossip, say it or i'll spread a rumor about you and why all the local chickens keep going missing and spoilers, it'll be foul" Angelas obvious play on words was more than enough to make Mike faux bow and apologise profusely until she was finally satisfied when he gave her his jello cup as a tribute to her gossipy goodness and she left him be after that for the rest of the lunch break.
"Ya know the first dance is awhile away but we should really plan ahead don't ya think, aren't you and Lauren on the planning commitee Angela?" Jessica asked a happy Angela who had swindled a very nice strawberry pudding cup from a very scared Mike which told Bella that Angela definetly wielded some social power in this school and it was enough to swindle him very easily.
"So you mean i'm the one doing all the work while Lauren flirts with every Tom, Dick and Harry with a pulse... i't been a few hours and she's already up to her old tricks again" Angela obviously didn't like this Lauren and by the looks on their faces none of them really did but hey small town problems usually means everyone knows about them and juet deals with it all quiet like Bella mused to herself.
She had been the subject of rumours before in her large school in Phoenix but usually they died out when people got bored or didn't care enough to keep em going which was usually the span of a week or two and everything was back to normal befoee you knew it but Charlie had explained to her Small towns rarely forget so she should be on her best behavior.
Bella knew she had to be on her best behavior anyway since her father was the local police chief and she didn't plan on doing anything bad but the pressure to fit in and be normal was still there no matter what she did.
"Lauren needs a boyfriend, or a psychiatrist... don't you agree Bella?" Mike asked as all eyes were now on her and she felt the awkwardness of the conversation get to her andshe had no idea why they had involved her when she didn't even know who this Lauren girl was.
"Well... i don't know who Lauren is and I've never needed a boyfriend or a psychiatrist so... i'm kinda at a loss for words here guys" Bella played it off with ignorance and Jessica couldn't help but chuckle at Bellas supoosed innocence with the 'never needed a boyfriend' line and that hadn't escaped any of their notices.
"Never had a boyfriend eh? don't worry the guys are easy here if their last name isn't Cullen so it's free pickings if you see someone you like" Angela playfully joked and she gave Mike a look as if she had instantly known the reason he had involved Bella in the boyfriend conversation, it was a classic lead into 'do you have a boyfriend Bella' and it was painfully obvious.
"Never had one and don't need one... aint looking either... might fall in love with the first Pizza or Burrito i see though... I really need to start bringing my own lunches" Bella noted the look of defeat in Mikes eyes as she had seen it from other guys before who had shown interest but she was gayer than a christmas tree, just didn't sparkle as brightly and that usually threw alot of people off into thinking she was straight and straight only.
Jessica giggled as she turned to Bella and spoke jn a happy tone "Pizza is usually Wednesdays and Burritos on Fridays so you might survive the whole week without packing your own lunch if you're lucky" she stood up and made her way to dispose of whatever was left on her lunch tray and ca,e back to grab her bag before saying her goodbyes to everyone and Bella decided to do the same as her next class was English and according to Alice her brother would be in their with her and she had no idea if that was a good thing or a bad thing yet.
~~*
English was actually kind of boring and Alices brother Edward had barely spoke to her other than being polite for the first 20 minutes but after awhile of seemingly squirming in his seat he finally decided to make some small talk and Bella actually found herself being thankful for it since the english teachers voice was so monotone she felt as if she would collapse from boredom any second now.
"My sister mentioned you came from Arizona... i'm sure everyones already mentioned the perpetually dour weather but hopefully you won't let the grey get you down for too long. It's kind of nice when you get used to it" His voice was low and calm but Bella couldn't help but feel as if he was holding his breath alot for some reason but maybe that was just how he usually looked on any given day.
"Not really a big fan of wind and rain myself but I've been told i am very pale so i might just fit in yet, what'dya think... is there hope for me yet?" Bella shot him a not so serious look and Edward couldn't help but crack a perfect smile on his marbled features and Bella thought for a moment that if she was even a little straight that kind of look might have worked on her but considering she wasn't he just came across as charming but awkward and that was quite fine.
"Nope, you're damned... just like the rest of us. shame my sister seems to have taken quite a liking to you and now she'll have to watch you melt away in a slight downpour" Edward cheekily grinned as he basically called Bella the wicked witch of the west and it hadn't escaped her notice in the slightest.
"I'm sure if you click your heels together three times and make a wish for me Dorothy we can save her some heartache and general annoyance eh?" Bella watched as Edwards features made the decision on how to react to her calling him Dorothy and in the end he settled on calm but stoic before he responded to her.
"Never had anyone call me Dorothy before, that's definetly a new one... you're kinda hard to read you know" Edward took down some notes Bella assumed were from something the teacher had said but just continued on talking in hush tones so no one could over hear them.
"Hey, you refered to me as the wicked witch... we are all dealing with new experiences today Eddie" Bella looked forward and saw they would be learning Macbeth this year which was easy for her since she had already done Macbeth back in Phoenix last year so this class was going to be a cake walk.
"And now Eddie... I should tell Alice her new friend is a little bit of a bully... wonder what she would think then" Edward chided playfully but yet he still seemed as if he wasn't breathing and it was kinda freaking Bella out but she chose to ignore it the best she could.
"Man, she's gonna love seeing you in a gingham dress if you do that Dorothy... ya know i think my neighbour even has one of those little Toto style dogs. be a shame for Alice to see her little brother in a dress with pigtails" Bella couldn't help but giggle at the image and her jovial behavior seemed to bring Edward more out of his shell and he even seemed to start breathing again.
"You really think you can wrestle me into a dress, Emmet would actually pay good money to see you try" Edward mused the last part to himself as he continued taking notes and it annoyed Bella he was so good at multi tasking and she wasn't.
""I'm pretty tough, i could probably do it alone but Emmet might be a great help... and he would pay good money..." Bella squinted her eyes and pursed her lips as she tried not to break out in laughter and Edward had to admit to himself her way of being was contagious to the point she had slowly made him almost forget about his ever present hunger.
Edward shook his head and just chuckled to himself with an aire of arrogance that made Bella realise he was very confident she couldn't force a dress on him and that was probably true but the idea made her laugh just enough internally that the image would stay with her for the rest of the day.
Minutes passed in soft silence only broken by the teacher begining the first lesson on Macbeth and reading aloud certain passages that she caught Edward mouthing along too and she realised he must also know the play back to front like she did and she considered how easy this class was going to be for both of them as he spoke up again.
"My sister is probably going to be waiting for you when we get out of here ya know, probably with snacks since she noticed you didn't eat alot at lunch earlier" Edward whispered out of nowhere and it threw Bella for a loop as she had no idea why Alice would go above and beyond for her when she barely knew her, maybe she was just a kind type and was like that with everyone she took a liking too.
Although at lunch Jessica had mentioned Alice keeps to herself alot and why on earth would she take the extra time and care to look after someone she didn't know. Bella had got the hint she may have been flirting with her but eventually dismissed that as a possibility when she realised Alice was wayyyyy out of her leauge and it wasn't even funny.
"I... I don't know why... That's kind of her, she doesn't have to do that... i have no idea why she would" Bellas whisper got lower and lower until they were almost inaudable but of course Edward had heard her just fine and let her have a moment to think as he himself had no idea why Alice would do such a thing and he had heard her thinking about doing so the moment she watched Bella leave the cafeteria.
"Alice is kind of intense, you might get used to it one day or probably not... I have no idea since she's less than sociable" Edward told Bella so matter of factly he didn't even really register he had basically just told her his sister was kind of a social recluse which was strange because all the pretty people she had ever met were pretty darn sociable and nice but then again maybe she was just lucky with who she had met before.
"Well neither am I really, usually spend most of my time with nose in a book or soon fixin up my new/old rusthucket of a car" Bella noticed they didn't have much time left on the clock was found she was actually looking forward to seeing Alice again and she knew why.
Bella was well aware how she enjoyed the attention from the drop dead gorgeous artist with her cute pixie cut and her perfect curves, she just knew it would never go anywhere since there was no way a girl like her would ever be interested in dating a normal looking girl like Bella.
"Don't talk about cars with Alice, she loves her new silver Porsche and she will talk your ear off if you let her" Edward focused on the last part of the class and seemed to not be breathing again and oddly still as if he had died sitting up Bella just couldn't think about his weirdness right now knowing Alice would likely be waiting for her and she could feel her core tighten at realisation.
She was down bad but Bella knew she could control herself and her libido as long as Alice didn't set her off too much with talk of shampoo and scents and what not.
~~*
Just as Edward had said Alice was waiting outside for her by the lockers with a nervous look on her face as if she hadn't really thought what she was doing through and Edward who had left the class before Bella had spoke to her quickly and left in a hurry before Bella had even had a chance to exit the class herself, she thought he was like a gazelle in the wind with how unnaturally fast he escaped the classroom.
When Bella had saw Alice leaning like a perfect greek statue against the lockers her eyes had lit up and her smile had never been wider. it was as if she was built into a wall and was there to just be physically beautiful for no other reason than she existed to be so.
"Fancy meeting you here, Edward is fast huh! he shot out of there like a gazelle or something" Bella couldn't help but bite her lips as Alice stood up perfectly rigid and smiled back at her with an eager grin and a question pursed, ready to spring forth from her lips.
"I noticed you didn't eat alot at lunch, I usually keep some snacks on me if... ya know i get hungry every now and then" Alice seemed nervous to ask what she was about too and Bella thought Alice was the cutest women she had ever seen in her entire life. She silently thanked her mother for shipping her off to Forks for the first time in only a few days of being here.
"I've got alot if you get hungry, it would suck pretty bad if you fainted during class you know" Alice handed Bella a chocolate bar and it was a very large looking bounty which was actually something she liked and was suprised Alice had the sam tastes as her, pleasently suprised in fact.
"Huh, you like bounty too, small world i guess... we should get to class though since we don't want to be late" Bella began to chow down on the coconut flavored chocolate goodness and was happy to be give quite a nice boost in energy until she remembered she had to skip breakfast to make it to school in time andxof course a chocolate bar would wake her up from her weary feelings.
Alice beamed with a happy smile as she had known somehow that Bella would enjoy this chocolate br the most out of all the ones she hastily grabbed out of the vending machine.
"Guess we have similar tastes, come, the art class is just in the next building over so we have a few minutes before class starts anyway" Alice began waking side by side with Bella as they passed students running to their own classes as not to be late and even some of them were perplexed to see the new girl getting so close and familiar with the normally quiet Alice Cullen.
"Edward seems nice by the way, says he has trouble getting a read on me and aparently runs out of classrooms like a cheetah, is he feeling ok?" Bella was genuine in her concern but Alice just brushed it off as if she was fully aware of why he had run away so hastily.
"Breakfast didn't really agree with him, probably ran to the toilet or the nurses office, he'll be fine... probably dramatic when we get home but other than that" Alice seemes like she hd dealt with Edwards ways a thousand times and was well prepared for a dramatic evening which Bella did not envy one bit at all.
"That sucks, hope old Dorothy isn't too dramatic he ends up giving you a headache or something" Bella watched as Alices features turned up in amusement at the mention of her own brother being called Dorothy of all things and just had to inquire as to why but Bella beat her to the punch.
"Oh! he called me the wicked witch cause i'm not abig fan of the rain so I gave him a new nickname... also might pay your big brother Emmet to help me put him in a gingham dress if he's rude again but that's a seperate thing" Bella raised her fist to the air as if she was mad of him but Alice could tell she wasn't even really annoyed but she also was going to use the new nick name non stop until Edward stopped reading her mind or maybe just when he was reading her mind.
"Dorothy... haha, oh he is going to hate me for the next couple of weeks" Alices laugh was like a beautiful serenade from a flute or some lightly swaying wind chimes and it did something to Bella that she didn't really want to admit, it made her swoon and that was a wonderfully strange new feeling.
"I probably should have kept that to myself, ya know i'm not really mad at him at all... i probably should be but ya know, he looked pretty sick in class kinda felt like he wasn't breathing sometimes" Bella aditted but if those words meant anything to Alice she hadn't let it show, in fact she just reiterated how dramatic he always was and Bella found herself smiling and rolling her eyes as obviously she knew him best and he was probably just fine.
Alice had enjoyed the slow walk to class and both had barely made it in time but found some seats in the back that no one had claimed as of yet and sat together as if it had always been so, which was strange since this was the first day they had ever known one another.
"Can you sketch or paint Bella? if you can't it's fine since Mrs Amaree is a fine artist and an even better teacher" Alice took out her sketchbook from her bag and a fine selection of german pencils from Faber Castelle and that was when Bella realised Alice was the real deal when it came her artistic inclinations.
"I'm not too shabby with landscapes but just don't ask me to sketch a deer or a person cause i've got no chance... the deer i tried to sketch turned out looking like one of satans hell hounds! i had to burn it, so ugly" Bella shuddered as she remembered the grotesque thing she had sketched last year, it was the final nail in the coffin she labeled her artisitc skills.
Alice however seemed to be quite the optimist and had some very unfounded belief in Bellas untapped art based skills "I can teach you Bella, everything is hard when you start out i mean i wasn't born with these sick pencil skills" Alice spun her 2b pencil around dextrous fingers with such speed and skill she could help but imagine what else those perfect fingers could do if given the opportunity.
Bellas blush was slight but noticeable and it hadn't escaped Alices notice. "It's so easy to make you blush Bella, i'm not even sure what sets you off sometimes" Alice leant over and handed her a spare sketchbook and her extra spare set of pencils which also looked expensive but perfectly sharpened.
The teacher was going to teach them how to draw an apple and as she taught the class Alice took it upon herself to teach Bella all the tricks she knew too make her first class go by like a breeze. She even taught her how to sharpen the pencils correctly and how to use an Erasee much more effectively without damaging the paper which is something Bella had admitted to not knowing since she was a complete newbie if she was actually honest with herself.
Alice spent alot of time leaning so close to Bella she pretty much held a permament blush that a few girls who looked over seemed to understand all to well, which made Bella feel not so weird since she obviously wasn't the only lesbian in this school by a country mile and after some of the jealous looks she got from girl and boy alike it had become very clear she wasn't alone.
"See if you angle the pencil while you shade like this you'll get a much finer tone and you can just work from light to dark..." Alice was pretty much holding Bellas hand at this point and although her hand was unnaturally cold it seemed to soothe her naturally warm hands rather than hurt.
Bella hadn't even noticed Rosalie hidden behind a boy on the other side of the class watching them both like hawks and the strange thing is neither had Alice and that confused Rosaie to no end as normally Alices senses were top notch but it seemed like all her focus was trained solely on the new girl. Rosalie admitted to herself the new girl was admittedly pretty but she had never thought she would have been Alices type, let alone would Alice basically rub up against the poor thing like a cat in heat.
"Ahhh, marvelous... perfect as always Alice and you are miss Swan if i'm correct... shadings not to shabby and the forms fine enough... seems like you both know what you're up to... Alice teach her how to understand light values dear" The teacher looked very pleased with both girls and continued walking about the room and helping the other students where she could and Bella was thanful she did as Alice had parted from her so quickly she couldn't believe anyone could have koved so fast.
'Must be a Cullen thing' Bella thought to herself as Alice made sure no one was watching and got as close as she possibly could, Rosalie had watched the entire moment and was shocked Alice still hadn't clocked her or maybe she had and just didn't care what Rosalie thought and was purposefully ignoring her.
"Don't be afraid to play around when you sketch, fruits are easy but you will be greatful you learned the basics when you start learning the loomis method to sketch portraits cause of course to be able to draw the head consistently at any angle, you want to have some method of constructing it from basic shapes. which is where this apple come in" Alice was in full teaching mode and Bella was focused more on her closeness than she was her teaching prowess.
"I'm not complaining or anything but aren't you a little too close to be teaching me effectively or something?" Bella didn't want Alice to move but if she didn't Bella was going to lose her mind ever time she breathed in her sweet scent and she was already way too aware if she kept up the closeness she would need new underwear any minute now.
Alice backed off just a little and locked eyes with Bella who if she didn't have such a good poker face would have been caught as the lustful bad girl she really was deep inside and she was still way too inexperienced to be ratted out so abruptly in the middle of her first art class this year.
"Then don't complain, just let me teach you. as long as you don't mind me being so close to you, i don't really see a problem with it... do you?" Alice's golden eyes shone in the low light of the classroom and her pouting lips made Bella buckle quicker than she ever had before.
"No, no it's fine... i just don't want you to put yourself out trying to help me, I wouldn't want you to miss something important in class because i'm hopeless" Bella didn't lie as she really did believe she was basically art dyslexic or whatever the term was for being the most poorly talented artist to ever walk the earth but Alice was having none of it.
Alice gave her a grin which revealed one of her sharp incisors and slid back as close as she could to Bella without seeming weird or overbearing, "It's really no trouble Bella, I could ace this class in my sleep... I think it's much more fun to help you, but only if you want me too" she helped Bella add some finer touches and details to really make her picture of the apple pop and stand out.
Bella was so suprised she had done such a good job she almost wanted to show her father as if she was 4 or 5 years old once again. She kinda wantsd to stick her sketch kn the fridge but she was way too old for that and she chided herself internally for evening thinking something so childish.
Bella was so pleased with her picture that Alice could see the shock and realisation dawn across her pretty face that she almost went in for a kiss but stopped herself when she finally noticed Rosalie from across the room shooting dagger with her golden eyes in her direction and she just hoped and prayed her sister hadn't realied ehat she was about to do without thinking in public.
Alice tried to ignore Rosalie and only pay attention to Bella who was pleased as punch with her picture and she should be since she did an amazing job, "I think you should keep my spare sketchbook and pencils, it'll give me an opportunity to teach you even more" Alice whispered as Bella tried to protest but Alice wouldn't allow it as she placed a finger on her lips but quickly took it back amidst Bellas new found silence.
Alice enjoyed her shocked and reddening expression so much she knew tonight she would sketch her again and commit Bellas beauty to memory permamently. "Has anyone ever told you how cute you are when you panic... I should give you more presents if this is the end result" Alice cocked her head to the side and gave Bella a stunningly beautiful smile that made it impossible for her to even look at Alice anymore andshe had to hold her head down.
Her face couldn't possibly get any redder even if someone covered her in letterbox red paint "I... ummm, don't know... Thank you. Thank you for teaching me" Bella managed to finally blurt out, as she felt she would faint at any moment if Alice managed to breath on her wrong or even lightly touch her.
Alice found herself almost crushing the desk under her hand as she regained enough focus to not take Bellas quivering lips in her own and give the entire class a real show. Rosalie would probably stop her though before she got close enough to even attempt it and if the pretty blondes face was anything to go by she really needed to stop flirting so hard butit just felt so right and natural she could barely contain herself.
"It's my pleasure Bella, you know i have a few good beginner reference books at home... maybe this weekend you could come over and look through them with me... if you want to of course. no pressure or anything" As Alice awaited Bellas well thought out reply Alice could see Rosalie close to fuming red with anger, she couldn't believe what Alice was doing right now.
Rosalie thought she was mad and there was no way their father Carlisle would think this is a good idea, He would surely also think Alice had lost her senses over this girl. They were supposed to keep to themselves and not get involved with mere mortals, was she hunting? No, Alice has almost perfect control over her blood lust an Rosalie knew that andof course her sister eyes were still perfect and golden and had been all through out the day to her knowledge.
Bella softly began speaking with her attention only directed at Alice and Alice alone. "You take teaching really seriously, it's kind of inspiring" her long brown hair fell from behind her ear and she had to quickly place it back before Alice spoke again, she didn't want to miss the way her face moved as she spoke in her musical voice.
Alice placed her elbow on the table and lay her head in her lovely palm and gave Bella a cute smile she could swear would launch a thousand ships if she wished it too.
"Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to spend time with you Bella, but for some reason i get the feeling you wouldn't believe that even if i said it outright... would you?" Alice finished off her own sketch while barely paying attention to the paper beneath her and Bella couldn't help but be impressed as she kept her eyes almost always locked with hers whenever she wasn't blinking or making sure no one was watching them.
"You're right, I probably wouldn't believe that... but, i mean... if you want too hang out then yeah. I like the sound of that" Bella took notice of how the smile had returned to Alice and her mood had greatly improved after Bella had given her exactly what she wanted.
"It's a date then, just don't get bored of me before the weekend... we have alot of classes together this week you know" Alice grinned cheerily as she looked over her and Bellas sketches and was perfectly pleased with her skills and teaching ability that as the teacher came back around she couldn't help but be impressed.
"Oh my, finally another talented artist in this class... I was begining to think yourself and Rosalie were the only ones to master the basics. seems i was wrong" Mrs Amaree was blunt and honest to a fault and se didn't care who knew what she thought about them. it was one of the many reasons Alice had enjoyed this class so much, of course nowhere were a few new ones but she wasn't quite sure how to interpret them quite yet.
"I really don't know what i'm doing Mrs Amaree... Alice helped me alot otherwise this apple would have probably ended up looking like a crushed car or something" Bella said with a tinge of honesty to her voice that the hippie art teacher couldn't help but find to be endearing.
"Well, I guess I should pair you together more often... you'll find Alice to be most useful since she is easily my best student" She said it so loudly the entire class had heard her and some had evenlt out a sigh or just even outwardly voiced their disdain towards what their teacher had just said.
She went back to the front of the class and put the more vocal and rowdy students in their place and Alice just shrugged her shoulder and whispered "Talent can be a real curse sometimes... class is almost over, can i walk you to your car or is that too forward" Alice was really pushing it now but she just couldn't help herself and when Bella wasn't looking she flipped Rosalie the bird and wasn't suprised to get flipped back in the slightest.
Bella tried her hardest not to blush but failed spectacularly and bit down on her bottom lip as she gave her answer. "I would like that, would be kinda weird at this point if we didn't walk to the parking lot together... i mean we parked in the same lot afterall" Bella pointed out the obvious and it caused them both to lightly chuckle at how formal they were hoth being until Bella pointed out the obvious absurdity of it all.
"Yeah, that does make a ton of sense... now that you mention it" Alice packed away her stuff and waited for Bella to do the same and when she finally did Alice heard the finishing bell finally ring and they both chucked their school bags over their shoulders and started walking towards the door behind all the other students.
Bella was suprised to see Rosalie walk straight up to Alice and almost knock them both off their feet. "We should get home soon, Dad is gonna be pissed if we're late for dinner again Sis" Rosalie seemed so pressed that Bella almost didn't question what she had said until Alice took control of the conversation and turned the blonde passionate beauty back into a harmless girl once again.
"Sounds good to me, I'm gonna walk Bella here to her car... warm my girl up and i'll see you in 10" Alice chucked Rosalie her car keys and took Bellas hand and walked out of the room so quickly that Bella could barely keep up and when they were free of the classroom Alice begrudgeinly let her hand fall and apologised for her sister abrupt bad behavior.
"Sorry about Rose, Dads been kinda grumpy since he took on all those late shifts at the hospital and every kinda wants a family night again ya know. she just gets a little passionate sometimes but she means well" Alice slowed herself down to keep pace with the very Human Bella who wouldn't have a chance in hell of following her if she really cranked up the pace.
"That's ok, my dad works alot too so I usually miss out on those kinda things as well... get to eat alot of takeout though so it's not all bad" Bella joked and Alice found it to be charming and also a little heart breaking.
Carlisle didn't really care about family nights as all of them usually did their own things anyway, but Bella didn't know that. Rosalie was just trying to seperate them both so she could figure out what Alice was up to. Her foster father or Coven leader as he really was only ever seemed to care about family time on birthdays or special holidays like halloween and christmas. Once also St Patricks day but that was a one off and hadn't been repeated since.
"It sucks but he's an important part of the town, Your dads the police chief so you obviously understand where my minds at" Alice skipped down the steps with such grace that Bella felt like she was a caveman next to this womans perfect form and posture.
"I get to watch alot of old movies and don't get interrupted when i'm in the middle of a good book so, there's pro's and cons to everything" Bella stated whilst they made their way outside into the brisk Forks early evening air and found the need to brace herself as a large gust of wind slapped her upside the face but not even affect Alice as she helped keep Bella stable and upright to which she was very thankful.
"Sorry, still not used to the sudden bouts of bad weather I guess" Bella apologised yet Alice wouldn't here it as she helped Bella stay upright and kept close to her once she was to make sure the weather wouldn't abuse her anymore, afterall Phoenix was alot warmer than Washington and the poor girl was still getting used to her surroundings.
"You'll get used to it, wait till you have to get your winter tires every year, Forks is pretty much white christmas central every year... Emmet crashes his car every November, December and Rosalie flips out on him every time..." Alice wouldn't point out he had only done it a few times in the 60's when cars where brand new to them but the details weren't all that important.
"I gotta fix that old Rustbucket up anyway, My dads helping me look for a part time job so i can scrape together enough cash to fix her up myself... ya know responsibility and all that builds character or something" Bella couldn't help but cringe internally as she realised how honest she was being around Alice but the taller and much prettier girl seemed to enjoy the way she spoke so freely and neared closer whenever she could and she could see no one was looking.
As they neared Bellas Rusty orange truck Alice couldn't help but think it was in dire need of alot more than just a lick of paint but once given a full and thorough repairing she would be something to be proud of.
"As i said, she's a real fixer upper... I've already made a list of everything that needs doing, now it's just time and money... hence the need for a part time job but I have a friend who lives down on the reservation keeping an eye out for parts so fingers crossed" Bella threw her school bag onto the passenger side seat before turning around to say goodbye to Alice and the elegant Pixie didn't make a single move to indicate she wanted to go anywhere.
"Rosalie would love to get her hands all over a run down old girl like this, she doesn't look it but she's a right gear head on the inside. Cars are her passion, if you left her outside our house Long enough her car centric OCD would have her back to being in showroom condition in a day or two" Alice bragged and Bella could see she had alot of trust and belief in her sisters mechanical know how.
"So basically i should trick your sister into compulsively fixing my car... sounds kinda cruel plus i would rather do it myself or as a team ya know... she's my first car, i wanna pick a pretty color for her and everything" Bella grinned happily as she told Alice her plan to fix up her rusty old truck and Alice couldn't help but respect Bellas drive to be herself and make her own way through this world with very little help.
"Just pick your favourite color or colors and before you know it she'll be half way to running smoothly again" Alice couldn't help but get closer as Bella turned to place the keys in the ignition and furned back around to spy Alice Leaning against the inside of her open truck door looking like an absoloute snack.
"Still gotta get the money for the paint though and i'll have to de-rust the whole thing, prime the body for a new coat after stripping what's left of the old one" Bella ran her finger across the paint and an obscene amount of orange rust came off with it which caused Bella to cock her head to the side as if she was saying 'see... lotsa work' and Alice didn't envy her for taking on such a big job for her first car.
Alice could feel the eyes of her family staring into the backmof her head from across the parking lot and knew she would have to aay goodbye to Bella sooner rather than later if she didn't want to incur anymore of their wrath. Alice sighed under her breath low enough that Bella couldn't have heard her even if she had tried.
"I'm telling ya just leave it long enough outside when you came over for the weekend and Rose won't be able to help herself... speaking of which if i don't get going soon I won't hear the end of it" Alice sounded dissapointed as she turned to watch her family shoot her death glares and the odd worried glance.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take up too much of your time... plus you gotta run home and spend time with your father so i shouldn't keep you away from that" Bella had the urge to touch her just one last time but couldn't find the courage to do so as she wouldn't be able to explain why she did it or even what she was thinking if she had actually managed to.
"Well if you wanna make it up to me, just text me later... drive safe Bella" Alice closed the door after Bella got into the drivers seat and waved goodbye with her hand not to far from her chest. while she backed away and Bella drove out of sight Edward was the first one to come and get her before the others started laying into her.
"Alice, we need to go home right now... what the hell were you thinking? I can't read that girls mind and Rosalie is telling us your basically throwing yourself at her..." Edward was thrown off when in her mind she spoke softer and calmer than he had ever heard her internal monolouge speak before.
'Shut it Dorothy, no click your heels and jump in the car... ain't no place like home right' Alice smirked coldly as she marched across the parking lot and when she toom her keys out of Rosalies hand she tokd her to "Shut it Rose" and minutes lates she was out of the packed parking lot and speeding all the way back home with her family fast on her tail.
She had no idea how she was going to explain her actions to Carisle when fhe others told him what she had been up to all day but then again she didn't really seek to care what they thought at this moment in time as her thoughts traveled straight back to Bella.
