"Shit, where could they be?" Blitz thought out loud as he and Stolas walked about looking for Loona and Octavia. He was tired, frustrated, and utterly done with the bullshit he had to go through. It hadn't been enough that he got mistaken as one actor and got dragged off, nooo, he had to go through that hell two other times, each one mistaking him for someone different. It wasn't bad at first, he had seemingly still had some performance skills it seemed, but just got grating by the third time. Hell, it would have happened a fourth time if he hadn't just gotten sick of it and started shooting everyone trying to drag him off.
"Hopefully they're fine...oh what could have possessed Via to run off like that? I mean it's not my fault her mother was being a raging bitch over the phone hounding me about her precious things." Stolas worried as he stayed by Blitz. "Also, we're going to have a talk if it's that easy for someone to just waltz into your office and steal MY grimoire." he added as he looked at Blitz.
"Hey our office is plenty secure, I had it well hidden." Blitz countered.
"Oh yeah, where, under a chair?" Stolas snapped.
"No smart ass, in a safe behind a painting, has a security pad too."
"Oh yeah, what's the code then, one two three four?" Stolas inquired only for Blitz to advert his eyes. "Oh my fucking god, REALLY?!"
"I...didn't have the time to memorize anything else when I got it?" Blitz tried to excuse.
"Are you seriously that much of an idiot?" Stolas asked.
"I'm not an idiot, I just like to...keep things simple, less of a chance of forgetting something." Blitz argued.
"Oh my god, I've been sleeping with a moron…" Stolas said with exasperation as he face palmed.
"Well you're not exactly the brightest tool in the shed either." Blitz countered.
"At least I can remember a fucking phone number." Stolas snapped. "When this is done, I'm making sure my grimoire has a better secure location in your office."
"Yeah yeah…" Blitz said as he waved his hand dismissively.
As they kept looking around Stolas sighed, starting to realize that Blitz might not be as perfect as he thought he was. Still, in spite of that and what had happened to them at Ozzie's, there was still something that made him still rather attracted to the imp. It certainly didn't hurt that he still found his performing charming and Blitz had looked quite…manly when he was in the midst of that fiery building. There was still that awkwardness though, the ugliness that had been brought up that he had likely just been using Blitz for sexual release. That...that would need to be addressed at one point. But not now, maybe later...much later.
When they rounded a corner Stolas and were about to turn around to head elsewhere they saw Loona and Octavia step though a portal. "Dad...I'm so sorry…" Octavia said sadly as she couldn't bare to look at her father.
"Oh my Sweet little Owlet!" Stolas exclaimed as he ran to Octavia, dropping his disguise as he embraced her. "I'm just relieved you're OK. what would possess you to do such a thing? You know I haven't taught you how to do spells like this yet."
"I just wanted to see the stars you promised…" Octavia said as she adverted her gaze.
"The stars?…" Stolas' eyes went wide with guilt as he recalled the promise he had made. "Oh nooo...Azathoth's tears. Oh no, oh my sweet dear, I'm so…" before he could finish he was caught off guard by Octavia hugging him.
"I know dad, it's OK, you're here now…" Octavia said as she continued to hug him.
Stolas smiled as he hugged her back, though he still felt guilty. "Still, it's not right...I promised I'd show you something that happens only once every thousand years. Something truly once in a lifetime, and I failed that promise. I'll make it up to you…"
"You don't have to dad." Octavia said as she continued to hug her dad.
"But I want to." Stolas insisted. "This was special, something you waited years to see. I promise you that I'll make it up to you somehow in a meaningful way. And that, I promise on my very life."
"...Thank you…" Octavia smiled as they ended their hug.
"Hey Loonie…" Blitz said as he approached Loona. "About what I-" before he could get too close and hug her, Loona kicked him in the groin, sending him a bit off the ground and onto the sidewalk, cradling his crotch, both Stolas and Octavia looking on in shock. "Yeah...I might have deserved that…" Blitz muttered.
"That's for saying you might replace me." Loona said with some contempt.
"I meant at work…" Blitz clarified.
"And that's supposed to sound better?" Loona argued.
"...fair point." Blitz admitted. "But how else was I supposed to get you to try and work harder?"
"Threaten to Cut my pay, ground me, say you'll put me on fucking suspension without pay and get a temp, just not THAT!" Loona practically snarled as she berated Blitz.
"...Noted." Blitz said as he got up, going in for a hug only for his face to come into contact with grimoire and fall back on the ground.
"Not after what happened today." Loona said with narrowed eyes.
"...Fair." Blitz said as he slowly got up.
"What the fuck is that?" Loona asked as she looked up at the sky seeing a bunch of fireworks over a burning building.
"My acting career…" Blitz said in a mixture of dry sarcasm and sadness which made Loona only slightly smirk.
The four of them watched the fireworks, taking in the rather unique display. It was rather special, if nothing not completely unseen in hell. Octavia herself found it to be rather meaningful, if only due to the fact it was a moment she was sharing with her dad like when she was but a child, even pointing to one and asking if her dad saw it. The four of them stayed there for a while, after Blitz had found out where Moxxie and Millie were and having Loona open a portal for them to get back to their office.
After they had had their fill, Stolas looked to Blitz. "I think we'll discuss the matter of the security of my grimoire at a later date. Right now I want to spend some more time with my daughter, mind opening a portal for us?"
"Can I dad?" Octavia asked, "Please?"
"...Well, you did manage to open one to Earth successfully without any prior teaching, and it is just to our home...I suppose it won't hurt. But I'll help you if you need it."
"Thanks dad." Octavia smiled as she hugged him, turning to Loona and taking the grimoire as Loona handed it to her. Octavia opened the grimoire, turning to the page she had found the portal spell to and started to recite the spell, thinking of her home as she did. She only struggled a little with pronunciation here and there, but managed to get it fully recited with the help of her dad, smiling as the portal opened to in front of their palace.
"Wonderfully done my little owlet, you're well on your way to fully using my grimoire. Well, I should say your future grimoire." Stolas smiled.
"I'd...rather not think about that right now." Octavia said as she shifted her eyes briefly away.
"Right, sorry." Stolas apologized.
"Well if anything else, I suppose she could...always come help us out if we ever needed her." Blitz offered, trying to smooth things over a little, though Loona narrowed her eyes slightly at the offer.
"That...might not be a bad idea, would help her gain experience with it when she's ready." Stolas admitted. "If she'd want of course."
Octavia looked at her dad. "Maybe one day...just not right now."
"Alright my little owlet." Stolas said before looking to Blitz and Loona. "Well, we'll be off then. See you soon Blitz." he said as Octavia handed Loona the grimoire.
"Yeah yeah...have a...good night." Blitz said as he averted his eyes slightly.
A small smile formed on Stolas' face. "You too…Oh, and Via?" He said as he looked to Octavia.
"Yeah?" Octavia asked.
"Don't tell your mother about today. We'll keep this our little secret, alright?" Stolas requested, knowing how Stella might use it.
"Sure dad, I understand." Octavia smiled.
"Thank you owlet." Stolas said before he and Octavia stepped through the portal.
Once it had closed Blitz sighed. "Thank fucking god this day is over." he muttered. "Loona, if you would."
Loona rolled her eyes as she opened up the grimoire, casting the spell and opening a portal to their headquarters. The two of them stepped through, looking around to see that Moxxie and Millie had already left for the night. Not that Loona overly cared that they were already gone, especially Moxxie. "Guess limp dick and his wife are gone."
"Yeah." Blitz said as he headed to his office. "By the way...nice job finding Stolas' girl, though I figured you would have found her sooner."
"Yeah well, I might have took my time getting to it…" Loona admitted.
"You do realize that keeping the grimoire safe and Stolas happy is keeping us in business right?" Blitz said with annoyance. "If anything happened to his daughter or the book we'd all be in deep shit."
"Yeah well, I'm not a bloodhound. I didn't exactly know where to start looking or have her scent to try to track." Loona countered with equal annoyance. "You should be thankful Carnavont showed up to even get me to look for her after the shit you said, as well as helped."
"WHAT?!" Blitz snarled as he quickly turned to look at Loona. "Did you call that short dicked bastard?!"
"And what if I did?" Loona growled. "At least he understands."
"Like hell! I don't want you being alone with that asshole, I don't want you calling him either!" Blitz barked.
"You're not the boss of me!" Loona shouted angrily.
"I am your boss and your father!" Blitz argued, matching her anger.
"Fuck you, I just want to live my life!" Loona countered.
"Oh, like when you made out with that bastard on your date?! That's how you get HPV!" Blitz shouted.
"What?!" Loona snapped as she narrowed her eyes.
Blitz blinked as he realized what he just revealed. "Yeah...that's right, I saw you making out with him! I watched him take you to Earth and have that little dance. I don't approve of him, he's our competitor for Satan's sake!"
Loona's eyes dilated with pure rage as she bared her teeth, fur bristling as she growled. "So what, I'm your pet now?! You gotta watch every fucking thing I do?! I'm twenty two god damnit! I don't need you treating me like a pup you just bought, and I certainly didn't need you when you adopted me!"
"...Why you ungrateful….that's it, you're grounded missy! And I also...forbid you from seeing him!" he scolded before blinking as Loona opened the grimoire. "what are you doing? You better not be fucking doing what I think you're doing. You do and I'll-"
"What, replace me with Stolas' kid?!"
Blitz blinked as he looked at Loona. "I-"
"Fuck you!" Loona said as she quickly opened a portal and threw the grimoire at blitz, knocking him on the floor, flipping him off before she jumped into the portal.
Blitz scrambled as he tried to reach the portal, only for it to close just as he got to it. "Oh god dammit..." he muttered as he felt like kicking himself.
Carnavont was driving home, it hadn't been that long since he and Typhus had gotten back and parted ways. He smiled a bit to himself, rather proud that Typhus had started to come a bit more into his own from the meek and submissive servant he had been. He hoped the best for Typhus, and that he'd have luck in his burgeoning personal hopes.
As he drove he blinked a portal opening up on the roof over the passenger seat. "The hell?" he asked only to see Loona plop down from it onto the seat. "Loona?!" he asked in surprise before noticing a stop sign and screeching to a halt as he secured her with his hand. "To what do I owe the surprise?"
"Can I...stay with you tonight?" she asked, clearly upset.
"...Yeah, sure...Blitz I take it?" Carnavont iinquired.
Loona nodded. "Yeah…"
Carnavont sighed as he started driving again, not saying anything so as to give Loona some space. From how she looked, she clearly was more upset and angry than she had been earlier, which meant Blitz must have REALLY fucked up. Now was not the time to ask though, he'd wait till later. "We're here." he said when they finally got to his house, getting out and walking around to open the door for Loona.
"Thanks..." Loona said as she got out, following Carnavont inside. "Nice place."
"It's not much, but it's home." Carnavont commented.
"Looks better than Blitz's shitty apartment…" Loona remarked, her tone showing disdain.
Carnavont shrugged, "True." He said as they made their way in. "Can I get you anything?"
"Got any beer or something?" Loona asked.
"Yeah, just a sec, make yourself at home." Carnavont replied as he went to the kitchen.
"Thanks…" Loona said as she moved to the couch, sitting and watching as Carnavont went to get her a drink.
It didn't take Carnavont long to go into the kitchen and return with a bottle of beer in each hand, offering one to Loona. "There you go. So...feel like talking about it? What happened with Blitz this time…" he asked as he used a claw to open the bottle.
Loona sighed as she did the same, downing some of her beer before looking at Carnavont. "Same old shit. He's trying to control my life like I'm his little pup, acting like I can't even take care of myself. It didn't help he wasn't exactly happy when I told him I took my time before looking for Octavia, or that you got involved."
"So still being an overprotective asshole." Carnavont muttered as he sat next to her. "But not quite as bad as saying he'd replace you."
"He spied on ME...on US!" Loona shouted in anger.
Carnavont narrowed his eyes, "...WHAT?" he asked with utter contempt.
"He spied on us, used the fucking grimoire likely with Stolas' help to watch us on our date!" Loona explained.
"…I'm going to kill him. I am absolutely going to fucking kill him." Carnavont muttered.
"I'll join you." Loona said before downing more of her beer. "why can't he see that I'm not some dumb fucking kid?"
"Because whatever the fuck he's got going on that's messed him up is is blinding him. That, or he so desperately wants a kid he's willing to ignore facts, or both. Either way, he's a fucking mess."
"Tell me about it." Loona sighed. "I just...I don't know if I can keep putting up with his bullshit. I get it, he picked me when he had so many other, much younger hounds to choose from. But I was almost eighteen, I would have been out of there in months! I didn't need him…" she said as she looked away.
Carnavont looked at her, taking a moment before talking. "Can you honestly say you'd be just as well off?"
"You managed to be, and you escaped when you were still a kid." Loona said as she crossed her arms.
"Yes, but can YOU say you'd be?" Carnavont asked. "Some of us can be lucky, some not so much. I've seen some that escaped go completely feral...if they weren't taken complete advantage of or worse."
Loona stared straight ahead for a moment, contemplating before sighing. "I...I don't know...I think so...maybe?"
"Maybe is not a yes." Carnavont pointed out.
"But how can you ask me that when you've done it?" Loona asked defensively as she looked at him.
"Because I knew from the start what it'd take, the hell it'd be. I didn't take ANY shit while in that hell hole and I made sure NOBODY thought about trying anything with me. I was resolved to either live free or die. I refused to be anyone's property."
Loona blinked as she looked at Carnavont, the crimson hellhound seemed so much stronger, so much more awe inspiring. He had the will and determination to live his life on his terms, even from childhood. And there she was...the one that let the orphanage get to her; the weak, scared little pup that always got hurt...that always lashed out whenever she felt threatened. Where he made sure to always look strong, she had let others trick and hurt her, get her hopes up and heart crushed one too many times where she refused to let it happen again.
"You're...amazing." she said softly.
Carnavont blushed. "No I'm not."
"Yes you are!" Loona argued before looking away. "Too amazing for me..."
Carnavont narrowed his eyes. "Don't think like that. You're just as amazing, it's me who doesn't deserve you."
"That's not true." Loona remarked.
"It is." Carnavont insisted.
"How?" Loona asked as she looked at him. You've done all these cool and amazing things while I was stuck at the orphanage until I was too old to keep." She said as her expression saddened. "Unwanted...not good enough….singled out by the others...never amount-"
"Stop right there, I don't want to hear another word." Carnavont interrupted.
Loona looked at Carnavont, still looking dejected. "But…"
"No buts." Carnavont insisted. "I don't see those things when I look at you. I see someone who survived, outlasted the others. Someone who's strong, takes no shit, and is very...beautiful." He added as he blushed. "I don't see someone undesirable, I see someone I don't think I deserve. Hell, you're my first girlfriend for Lucifer's sake, that should tell you something, other than that I'm completely hopeless when it comes to dating."
Loona giggled. "You do realize you're my first too right?"
"A hottie like you? Bullshit." Carnavont said with a fair bit of disbelief in his voice.
Loona laughed a bit more as she blushed."It's true." She admitted before sighing as she looked down. "I don't even have friends..."
"Well then every other hellhound must be fucking blind if they can't see how wonderful you are." Carnavont remarked with a smile as he raised her head up.
Loona blushed as she smiled. "Thanks..."
"No problem." Carnavont smiled back. "Anyway, despite how fucked up Blitz is, you still have him and a roof over your head where you might not have."
"Yeah...but why the fuck does it have to be so fucking difficult to deal with him?" Loona asked in exasperation.
"Because life is hell even in Hell." Carnavont said simply.
Loona chuckled a bit. "Yeah...but it's not so bad...especially with you." she blushed as she leaned against him.
Carnavont blushed as he smiled at Loona. "I can say the same." He said as he put his arm around her.
"Can...can I just stay here? Take you up on your offer and never deal with Blitz or the others ever again?" Loona asked as she looked at Carnavont with wanting in her eyes. "You get me...you understand what it's like when so many other hellhounds just accept what life is."
"Believe me, I'm tempted to say yes, but that wouldn't be right." Carnavont replied with a sigh. "As much as I dislike Blitz, he and IMP need you. I just wouldn't feel right if you joined us without them having a replacement, even if we're competitors."
"...Why do you have to be such a nice guy?" Loona complained. "Why can't I just say fuck em?"
"Because it's not who I want to be and I know that's not who you are either." Carnavont explained. "We've both seen how shitty everything is and we refuse to fully accept that. You might be hurt, but deep down you want to have what Blitz in his messed up way is offering. We might be demons, but we're not absolute monsters." He added.
"...Damn it, why do you have to be right?" Loona pouted.
"Because." Carnavont smirked.
Loona rolled her eyes as she kissed his jaw. "Still, Octavia can use the grimoire...just saying, Blitz can hire her. Not like he didn't offer her a job anyway…"
"Did he?" Carnavont asked.
"Well...not fully, he just said that she could." Loona admitted. "But still, he could, and then I could come with-"
Carnavont looked at Loona with a you should know better look. "Loona…"
"Fiiiine." Loona said with exasperation. "Can't blame me for trying."
"No, but like I said, I want you to join HOUND when you are either treated too poorly or IMP has a set replacement." Carnavont reiterated.
"I know…" she sighed. "I'd still like to meet the rest of your team. By the way, how old is Typhus? He seems young."
"He's eighteen. From what I can tell, or was told, he was adopted at five." Carnavont explained.
Loona blinked in shock. "Holy shit...to endure that for so long, no wonders he's so...subservient."
"I know…" Carnavont said solemnly. "But thankfully he's slowly getting out of it. Would you believe he finds Octavia cute?" he asked with a much lighter tone.
"No shit?" Loona asked with a smirk.
"Yeah, first time I've seen him have an interest in someone. I'm hoping it's a sign he'll start living more for himself, on top of the practicing he's doing to become more apart of the team."
"You're really good to him…" Loona smiled.
"Someone has to be there for us, I know I can't help every hellhound, not yet at least." Carnavont admitted. "But I do what I can, try to set examples, try to reach out, make appeals. We can't just keep being treated like fucking slaves. We're natural born to hell dammit, it should be the sinners at the bottom, not us!" He added, clenching his fist a bit. "Let alone the other demons like succubi, we should have as much rights as them."
"Yeah…" Loona agreed with a bit of forlorn knowing.
"Sorry, it's been too long a day to talk about this crap and you've had your own shit to deal with." Carnavont apologized.
"It's fine." Loona said with a soft smile. "It's good to know there's a hellhound like you trying to make a difference. Even better that I get to be with you. You'll make a change, I'm sure of it. And even if you don't...you'll have me and your business at least." she said with a blush.
"Thanks…" Carnavont said as he blushed as well. "Now, as for meeting the rest of my team...I'll see what I can do."
"Can't I just take the day off tomorrow and stay with you?" Loona asked, not wanting to even think about going back to be around Blitz. "Visit HOUND?"
"Loona…" Carnavont remarked.
Loona sighed. "I know…"
"I'll call Blitz in the morning though, try to get him to not chew you out though." Carnavont stated. "I'd call tonight, but I REALLY don't want that headache."
"You sure that's a good idea?" Loona asked.
"Absolutely fucking not." Carnavont said bluntly, knowing full well what would likely happen. "But I'd rather have to deal with him than you having another fight with him and possibly saying something you'll both regret."
Loona smiled slightly. "...Thanks."
"No problem." Carnavont smiled. "Anyway, I don't have a spare room or bed ready, so you can have mine, I'll sleep on the couch."
"You don't have to do that, I'll sleep on the couch." Loona offered.
"You're my guest, and my girlfriend Loona, I'm not about to have you sleep on the couch." Carnavont stated.
"Then why don't we...share the bed?" Loona asked with a blush. "I did just show up without warning after all, practically forced myself on you. I'd feel just as bad having you not sleep in your bed."
Carnavont became immensely flustered, blinking as he looked at Loona. "Sh-share the...bed?" He didn't quite fully ask. "I..uh...well...I...ahem…." Carnavont stammered before composing himself. "I'll admit it is tempting...but, I wouldn't want to take advantage or anything. I just...want to do things right with you, don't want to rush things and potentially ruin it."
Loona looked at him as she cupped his maw. "I trust you Carnavont, I really do." She assured. "I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't want to...you know…But I think I'd like waiting for it...when the time is right."
"You...sure?" Carnavont asked.
"Yes, I trust you completely." responded with a slight smile and blush. "You've been far too good to me and treated me far too well for me not to. Any other asshole would do anything just to fuck me. But you're not like them. And that is why I trust you."
"...alright." Carnavont agreed.
Loona smiled before blushing a bit. "I guess...I should have first portaled home and got a change of clothes…"
Carnavont blushed, "I might be able to help with that" he said as he got up, waiting for Loona before leading her to his bedroom. He went through a few drawers before offering her some clothes. "Might be a bit big on you…"
Loona continued to blush as she looked at him, "Thank you…"
"You're welcome." Carnavont said as he handed her the clothes. "I'll uh...I'll go while you change." he said as he turned to go to another room.
"You...don't have to." Loona said slightly flustered.
Carnavont's expressiion got ever so slightly pensive. "But…"
"I said I trusted you Carnavont, it's not like I'm getting completely naked." Loona assured.
"You sure?" Carnavont asked.
"Yes I'm sure, it's your house, not mine." Loona said as she began to take off her shirt.
Carnavont blushed heavily, averting his eyes a bit. "I'll uh...I'll get changed."
"Right…" Loona said as she put her shirt to the side, blushing rather heavily at the thought of Carnavont without his clothes on. "H-how do you…normally sleep?"
"...Sometimes with a shirt, sometimes just with pants on...depends on my mood really. But considering you're here, I'll be using a shirt."Carnavont said as he took off his jacket, putting it away before starting on his shirt
"I...I wouldn't mind…however you're most comfortable. Besides...what if you...got hot?" Loona said as she blushed, looking at Carnavont as he took off his shirt. She couldn't help but stare a little as she put on the shirt that Carnavont gave her. He was right, it definitely fit loosely on her.
"...I'd...deal with it." Carnavont said as he moved to grab his night shirt.
"You sure? I know you don't want there to be any...temptation. But I truly wouldn't mind...I know you wouldn't do anything…" Loona said as she started to change pants.
"...Alright." Carnavont said as he put the shirt back, briefly glancing only to turn deep red as he saw Loona start removing her pants, quickly adverting his eyes. He went about changing his own pants.
As the two continued to change, Loona couldn't help but awkwardly glance over at Carnavont, just enough to get a brief look at his physique as it was more clear to see. She quickly adverted her gaze though, cursing herself for doing what she trusted Carnavont not to do. Although Loona got the feeling Carnavont was doing the same, just with a bit more will power to fight off anything more than the briefest of glance, if that. When the two finished changing they awkwardly looked at each other, Loona blushing as she looked at the other hellhound's bare upper torso, some more scars now visible, if only a few.
"W-wow…" Loona blushed.
Carnavont blinked, blushing a bit as well. "I...maybe I should…"
"No! No no...it's fine, really, it's totally fine." Loona assured quickly.
"Are you...sure?" Carnavont asked.
"Yes!" Loona replied before looking away bashfully after realizing she blurted out her response. "...I mean...yes, yes I am. We're just sharing a bed, nothing more."
"Right." Carnavont said as he rubbed the back of his head. "Still...maybe…"
"No." Loona said as she grabbed his arm. "I'm not kicking you out of your bed just because Blitz really pissed me off and is being an ass. Don't go to the couch on my account...please?" She almost pleaded.
Carnavont looked at her a moment before sighing. "Alright...but if the temptation becomes to strong, I'm going to the couch."
"Deal." Loona agreed.
Carnavont nodded, he and Loona heading to his bed a moment later and getting in. Both continued to blush as they made sure that there backs were to the other, doing their best to make sure that their was as little intimacy as possible that would tempt the other. Despite the awkwardness, and how close their backs were to the other, sleep eventually overtook them after a while, both falling asleep relatively close to the same time. As both Loona and Carnavont slept, Loona whimpered a little, having a nightmare brought on by old memories and what happened with Blitz. As if by instinct, Carnavont rolled over, embracing and holding her. A smile soon formed on her maw, as well as Carnavont's, their tails idly thumping every now and then happily against the bed, both content and happier.
