Authors Note: Hey Everyone! Today is the 4th anniversary of this story! 4 years ago today I was pacing back and forth for most of the day. I was asking myself do I publish what I wrote or not? I finally decided to post it and I am super happy I did. I have never regretted creating this story. I really did want to make this a special Chapter but unfortunately, time was not on my side. I worked very hard to get this much written. I am going to try to make more time for writing but in Spring and Summer, I usually stay pretty busy so who knows how much I will get done on this. But I would like to thank everyone who has read this story and continues to read this story. It means the world to me! :)

Chapter 50

Seeing Simon

(4th Anniversary Chapter)

Dave falls back into the chair in the waiting room.

Dave: It's over….. It's finally all over! He says with tears of joy running down his face.

Theodore goes over and starts hugging Dave.

Theodore: Our lives can finally go back to normal!

Dave: Yes, your right Theodore we can finally get our lives back!

Back at the Police Station:

Sam: Benjamin we got part of your story at the Hospital but we need all the details now.

Benjamin: Well, it all started a few months ago. I had just gotten off duty and went home. When I opened my mailbox there was an envelope in it addressed to me. I opened it. There were photos of my family and a letter. It told me if I wanted my family to live, I needed to join them. I was to meet them at a spot that is part of my usual beat. So, the next day I went there to meet them.

Paul: When you meet up the next day did you know why they were?

Benjamin: No, and the first meeting was only with Scarlet. Scarlet said she needed my help and that I was the only one that could help her. She told me she was in need of money as the funds from her last job ran out. I asked her what I could do. She handed me a photo of Alvin. She told me that I was going to help kidnap him. I told her I would do no such thing. I told her I was going to run her in. But she then reminded me that if I didn't go along with her that my family would be killed.

Sam and Paul both look at each other.

Benjamin: She said she had someone following my family and the only way they would be safe is if I worked for her.

Sam: That's when you joined up with her?

Benjamin: Sort of. I asked what I would have to do. She said it was simple. I just had to help with the kidnap and think like a police officer. She told me to think about it for a day. We were to meet at the same time and place the next day.

Paul: What did you do next?

Benjamin: I finished my work for the day went home and checked on my family. I couldn't sleep all night the next day I went back and she had Robert with her. She said this was the man who was following my family around. I asked how I would help her and still do my job. She said I would have to leave my job and leave my family behind. I said I couldn't do that. I told them I was the sole provider for my family. That's when Scarlet said she would pay me. Robert opened a briefcase with $1000 in it. She said this would be the down payment and she would keep paying me so I could send money to my family.

Sam: That's when you agreed to join her.

Benjamin: Yes. She told me I was a wise man. She gave me the money told me to go quit my job and meet her in the same spot tomorrow and we would set off.

Paul: What did you do after you let the meeting?

Benjamin: I went and turned in my badge and told them I got a new security job I couldn't pass up. They were sad to see me go but understood. I then went home and told my family about my new "job" They were sad that I would be gone so much but understood and agreed that I could pass up the opportunity.

Paul: So that's how this all started.

Sam: Benjamin why did you just not tell your fellow officers what was going on. They could have helped you.

Benjamin: That's something I have asked myself every day. My best answer is that I was just so scared that something would happen to my family that I panicked and went along with it.

Paul: Well, I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing if someone was threatening my family.

Sam: Well, let's continue on.

Benjamin: The next day we meet in our spot. This time they had the van. They told me to get in. Once I was in, they told me they were taking me to the hideout they had set up. Once we got there, they told me the plan. They said they had been watching Alvin for quite some time. They had planned to kidnap him over Spring Break but Dave's accident had really messed up their plans.

Paul: Because they left town to be with Dave?

Benjamin: Yes, that's why they brought me in. As soon as they found out about the concert, they said they needed a cop on their team. My job was to go look for weakness in the security plan and once I found it, take advantage of it, kidnap Alvin, and hold him hostage.

Paul: So that's why you helped us with security?

Benjamin: Yes and no. I wanted to make sure there were no gaps in security so that if Scarlet and Robert were watching me the night of the concert, they would see that I had no opportunities to grab Alvin.

Paul: I see.

Benjamin: So, after I left the concert, I called Scarlet that I couldn't find any gaps in security and asked what I should do next. She was very very angry. She told me to come back to town and report to the hideout. I was really hoping that they would give up but they had a plan B. When I got back, they said they since they had been watching Alvin for quite some time, they found that he would walk home alone from school. The plan was for us to be parked outside of school and once he got a couple of blocks away, we would grab him.

Sam: What they didn't count on was that Alvin would walk home with Theodore and Simon would be the one to walk home alone that day.

Benjamin: Right. Scarlet couldn't wait any longer for some reason. That's when she said a Chipmunk is a Chipmunk. I was the one who grabbed him, Scarlet told him to get a good look at his house because it would be a very long time before he saw it again, then Robert hit him over the head and Simon was knocked unconscious. That's how all of this started.

Sam: Well for now that's all we need. We will get the rest from Scarlet and Robert and then have you verify everything. Unfortunately, you know what happens now.

Benjamin: Yes, I do. He says standing up. Take me to my cell.

Sam and Paul Take Benjamin to his cell.

Paul: I really hate doing this to him. He says to Say as they walk away.

Sam: I do too but hopefully the Judge will take everything into consideration.

Paul: I hope you are right Sam.

Back at the Hospital:

Dr. Riley: Are you guys ready to see Simon?

Dave: Yes, we are ready.

Dr. Riley: Ok follow me and I will take you to his room.

Dr. Riley leads Dave, Theodore, and Bobby to the ICU Room where Simon is at.

Dr. Riley: You can talk to Simon but he won't be able to respond as he is still sedated from surgery. Also, please remember he has been through a lot so he will look different but I assure you we will do everything in our power to get him back to normal.

Dave: We understand.

Dr. Riley: Here we go. She says opening the door.

Dave, Theodore, and Bobby enter the room.

Dave and Theodore are shocked by Simson's appearance.

Dave walks over to Simon.

Dave: Simon I don't know if you can hear me but everything is going to be alright now. He says as he grabs his hand. Dave is fighting back tears seeing Simon in his current condition.

Theodore goes over to Simon's other side and grabs his other hand.

Theodore: Hey Simon it's Theodore. You will be better in no time.

Bobby: Dr. Riley?

Dr. Riley: Yes Bobby?

Bobby: Will Simon really be alright? He looks hurt really bad.

Dr. Riley: Well, you are right Bobby Simon is hurt badly but we will be able to fix him and his body will help too. You see Simon just came out of surgery and even though we are not fixing him right now his body is fixing itself. Here in a couple of days, we will work on him some more, and then his body will start fixing itself again. So yes, Simon will be alright it's just going to take some time.

Theodore: Dr. Riley when will Alvin get to see Simon?

Dr. Riley: Well, it will probably be a few more days. Alvin still needs to rest and recover more.

Theodore: Oh. He says in a very depressed tone.

Dr. Riley: I know it's hard on you Theodore. She says walking over to him. It's hard on Alvin and it's been hard on Simon. She says resting her hands-on Theodore's shoulders. Here in a few days, you and your brothers can be reunited.

Theodore: Well, I can stand the wait but I am not sure Alvin will be able to. He says looking up at Dr. Riley.

Dr. Riley: I am certain Alvin can wait a few more days before he sees Simon. He has waited all this time. She says with a smile.

Theodore: You don't know Alvin….

Dave lets out a little laugh.

Dave: Theodores right about that Dr. Riley. You don't know Alvin. He says with a smile and drying the tears from his eyes.

Dr. Riley: Well, I may not know him as well as you two but as a doctor I know Alvin doesn't have enough strength to do anything more than sleep right now. She says with a smile.

Theodore and Dave look at each other and then smile then start laughing.

Dr. Riley: What's so funny?

Dave: Alvin AWAYS has energy to cause trouble.

Dr. Riley: Oh, what kind of trouble? She says raising an eyebrow.

Theodore: You will see. He says with a smirk on his face.

Dr. Riley lets out a little laugh.

Dr. Riley: Ok then we shall see. But I think it's time to leave Simon alone so he can rest.

Dave: Take care, Simon. We will be back soon.

Theodore: Yes, we will be back soon Simon. Just concentrate on getting better.

Dave, Theodore, Bobby, and Dr. Riley then leave the room.

Simon's Thoughts:

Simon: I am finally safe. To hear Dave and Theodore's voices again. I wish I could hear Alvin's voice again. It's been so long.
