Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or 6Teen. I do not own the original story this is based on.
November was ending as the trees bared everything in the cold air. Citizens started wrapping themselves in layers as they walked around the stores with Christmas sale signs that had been up before Thanksgiving sunset. Everything was going at a usual pace as Danny locked fists with Skulker high in the sky. The ghost boy had some questions for the hunter, for once actually glad to be prey/predator.
"Skulker, I'm only gonna be nice one last time. So why don't you tell me what Vlad's plotting and I won't rip your head off and parade it around the Ghost Zone." Danny gripped the hunter's fists as he dragged his foe through the air. He twirled the ghost around before stopping, asking his question again.
"Now, you wanna start answering? Or shall I turn the spin cycle on high?"
But Skulker smiled wickedly as his fists rocketed out of his arms, throwing Danny into loops. From his forearms came cannons aimed at the ghost boy.
"Foolish ghost child, do you not know by now what it means to face Ghost Zone's greatest hunter?" Skulker said as he fired ecto-beams.
Struggling against the grip of the rocket fists, Danny thought fast and dodged the first rays and had the second and third attacks phased through him. This did not end as he thought, for soon, he was electrocuted by the hands. He flailed in the air as his for flew over with blades extending from his wrists.
"Now, to finally get your pelt."
Danny groaned but would not relent. Focusing his energy, the ghost boy froze the hands in, smashing them together and shattering his makeshift cuffs. He then did the same to Skulker, focusing his ice powers through his eyes, encasing the ghost hunter in ice. He watched as the icy prison crashed to the ground, scattering the mecha suit on impact.
The ghost boy landed nearby, inspecting the shattered suit as he saw Skukler rendered helpless in his true form: a tiny, green blob no bigger than the boy's foot.
"You know, this would be a perfect time to interrogate you." Danny pulled out the Fenton Thermos, capturing the remains of the mecha suit. "But I think I'll let you stay there and fly back home with everyone seeing you like this. Bye."
Skulker raged with colorful vocabulary as Danny flew away. The ghost boy was surprised the hunter would speak in such a manner, but this was the first time he had done something like this. And with good reason too.
Ever since he came back from Canada, Vlad took the time to visit more often. It was becoming an aggravating routine as the halfas met, mentally argued with their body language and eyes, and then dropped facades when no one was around. It was obvious Masters was just floating about his plans, but his words were so vague that it was hard to translate.
"Ah, I must say, as much fun as it's been fooling you at every turn, I must expand my vision since you're leaving for Canada through the year. I must say, having a girlfriend so far away must have some problems. It's too bad no one can teleport there and back."
Those were Vlad's last words from a few days ago. And they have been eating Danny's brain ever since.
Flying to the mall, Danny put his worries on hold. Constantly thinking about Vlad's plans never helped him, and he knew the man enough that they weren't ready. So, it was time for some much needed rest and relaxation.
With his homework done and no more ghosts around, the ghost phased into the mall bathroom, where he transformed and walked out as Danny Fenton.
He took in the atmosphere as he walked to the Amity Mall's Lemon, where he saw his friends waiting for him. This was normal for the trio after the ghost boy started dating Jen. Even Sam, who disliked the idea of such normal teenage clichés, found it enjoyable. It was starting to feel like home, except without the constant explosions of ectoplasmic goo spraying everywhere.
"Hey guys, how's it hanging?" Danny asked.
"It's been alright. Just the mundane, boorish routine of high school that haunts everyone in this town," Sam answered. She cheerfully sipped on her lemonade as the boy stared at her.
"Uh...Have you been talking to Nikki or something?" Tucker asked before Danny. While they knew of the goth girl's disdain for normal things, her reaction seemed something...more educated.
"Good question. Here's how to answer: have either of you been talking to Jen, Caitlin, or the boys?" Sam glanced at Danny then at Tucker.
"Yes," the boys answered in sync. Their faces dropped in defeat as Sam slurped loudly on her drink. The boys were silent for a few long minutes.
"Oh, come on. I was just having some fun." Sam gestured to the mall. "I mean, we can actually have fun here."
"Good point, I mean, school has been better since Dash can't do anything," Danny replied.
"Yeah, but you don't have Dash trying to steal your PDA!" Tucker quipped, hugging the device like a newborn baby. His eyes darted to the sides as his grip tightened. "I swear, the guy doesn't seem to realize I have Caitlin's video backed up on my laptop and in a cloud!"
"Tucker. It's Dash. The school gives him spelling classes just to make sure his grade point average meets some kind of standard," Sam snarked. Recalling the many times she had helped her friends escape the clutches of the jocks.
"You think if Tucker leaks the video, Dash will lose too much respect to command anyone?" Danny smiled widely at the idea. The video of Dash beaten by Caitlin in arm wrestling was a blessing.
Ever since that party, the bully would try to confiscate the device by any means necessary. The most common tactic was using the other jocks, who were not blackmailed, to stop the boy and grab the device. Dash could only watch from afar as they failed at every turn. But that was changing as the football team kept asking the quarterback why he wasn't doing anything to Fenton or anyone else.
"Danny? What exactly are you planning?" Sam narrowed her eyes at the ghost boy.
"Planning? What gave you that idea?" Danny's snarky tone did nothing to hide the mischief in his voice. The goth girl gave a don't-you-dare look at him. But that was stopped as they noticed Tucker standing behind them with a far-out look.
"Tuck? What's up?" Danny asked as he and Sam tried to snap him out of his stupor. The boy just pointed across the mall.
"Uh, Danny? Isn't that your mom in an outfit that looks way to...unmomish?" Tucker asked.
While that last word was made up, the ghost boy turned his head and saw his mother walking down the mall. However, in place of her skintight blue jumpsuit, she wore a plaid shirt tied up with a white shirt underneath and blue jean shorts.
"What the heck?" Danny let out as he got up and went to the woman.
"Mom?" Danny asked.
Maddie didn't respond, still looking around the racks for any article of clothing that she would find appealing. It almost seemed like she wasn't listening.
Danny followed her into the next store, a Frilly and Pink. The boy stared at the sign as he noticed the store's inventory catering to its mostly women customers.
"What the heck? Since when does mom like pink?" Danny remarked. Sam and Tucker stared in shock as they thought the same. It had become apparent over the years how much Maddie Fenton enjoyed her blue spandex suit, it was even her favorite color.
As the trio continued their staring, they didn't notice Maddie had walked past them and into a Von Ditch, checking their wares out. Only after the teens calmed down did they enter.
Danny walked up to Maddie, tapping her shoulder to get her attention. The woman turned to see the ghost boy waving at her with a nervous smile.
"Can I help you?" She asked with a raised brow.
"Uh, mom? Are you alright?" Danny asked, not dropping his nervous face.
Maddie stared at Danny for a moment before she snorted. She gave a small giggle, then laughed, drawing attention to them.
"Mom?" Danny repeated.
"I'm sorry, sweetie, but you must have the wrong person." The woman gestured to herself with a sweet smile. "I'm Madeleine Soucie."
Danny blinked.
"You know, from magazines." Madeline struck a pose.
The ghost boy stared in disbelief.
"You like fashion magazines and a few swimsuit issues? I mean you looked at those, right?"
This time, Danny blinked again before he said, "ew." Model or not, the boy had zero interest in seeing his mother or a look-a-like posing in front of him. It set off all manners of cringe in his body as it contorted.
"Great. I just ran into a woman who practically my mom's twin and even called her mom in public. This couldn't possibly get anymore embarrassing than it is right now." Danny slapped his head.
"Oh, I don't know about that. Lots of people can make mistakes," Madeline quipped. She wore a gentle smile as she patted the boy on the head in a motherly fashion. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm flattered you called me mom. I've been wondering about children for a while now."
"Wow...you're kinda like my mom, but not." Danny's blunt words cut through any heartwarming thoughts as Madeline gave him an unusual look.
"Sweetie, just what kind of woman is your mother?" She asked.
As if on cue, Danny's ghost sense went off as a random monster deer ghost appeared. The boy would have left to go ghost, but a familiar battle cry caught him off guard.
"Bonzai!" Jack yelled with the Fenton Bazooka held above his head. The large man brought it down as he aimed and fired. The blast missed, hitting a nearby vegetable stand, there was only one thing destroyed.
"Ahhh! My cabbage!" The vendor cried. He glared at Jack, expecting compensation.
"I got him!" Maddie yelled as she ran past her husband with a Fenton rifle out. She aimed and hit the ghost dead on, making the creature fly in terror.
After a cheerful huzza and paying the vegetable vendor, the parents returned to continue ghost hunting. Or they would have done so if not for the voice of their son.
"Mom? Dad?" Danny said, getting their attention.
"Danny? What are you—" Maddie stopped mid-sentence as she saw Madeline. The woman removed her mask and began staring in stunned surprise. It wasn't long before Jack appeared and saw the women, zigzagging his attention between the two. He had a mischievous grin for a moment but dropped it.
"Ok, either there's a copycat ghost around or you just found you long lost twin," Jack commented after a few silent minutes.
"But I thought mom's only sister was Aunt Alicia," Danny snarked.
"So did I," Jack muttered as quietly as he could. But his wife instinctively jabbed him with an elbow as she continued staring at her look-a-like.
"I don't have more sisters," Maddie said. She was so stunned by Madeline that her eyes couldn't look away.
"And I'm an only child," Madeline added. She gestured to herself looking confused as she stared back.
The women were locked in eye contact as some other mall goers started staring. It was refreshing to have something new to gasp about in a town where ghosts haunted them every day. Some teens could be seen taking out their phones and snapping photos.
Danny and his friend stepped back to avoid being documented as the Fenton's and Madeline stood in silence.
"Well, this is odd. I take it I'll get out of your hair, and leave you alone," Madeline said.
"You know what?" Maddie held the woman by the shoulder, staring at the woman blankly. "Why don't you take a look for yourself."
"Excuse me?" Jack and Danny responded simultaneously. They glanced at each other before going back to the women.
"That sound lovely! I could use a little social outing anyway. There's not many to talk to here," Madeline said. She wakes alongside Maddie, who gestured her to follow. The women started conversing along the way as Danny waved goodbye to his friends to investigate and protect Madeline from the latest explosion of goo that would happen. Look-a-like or not, the boy knew his mother was happy to have company around the house.
As everyone left, Jack was caught staring before putting down his Fenton Bazooka and getting out his phone. He fiddled for the contacts, going to his favorites.
"V-man, you're not gonna believe this," Jack said.
Fenton works was many things to the citizens of Amity Park. Only months ago, any of them were positive when ghosts started making regular appearances in public. But one thing it had never been was a place to hang out unless you were friends with Danny Fenton.
Jazz opened the door to see Madeline, mistaking her for her mother like her brother. Once the mix up was cleared, the girl watched as Madeline walked into the Fenton home, looking at the place with a smile. It was rather curious as even the teen never brought anyone here unless there was a reason.
"This is quaint but quite homey." Madeline walked to the couch where she plopped herself. "It's like a home you walk in and be yourself," she added.
"Well, yeah. Isn't that for everyone?" Danny broke the silence as he tried to comprehend his mother's apparent twin.
The model hummed to herself as she glanced upward. "Hard to say. I've been trying to make myself a home for years," she said with a distant voice. She looked at the Fenton's and clapped her hands. "But that's what happens when you grow up in an orphanage."
"An orphanage? You're an orphan?" Maddie asked, taking a seat beside the woman as Jack went to the kitchen for snacks and fudge, lots and lots of fudge.
"Yeah, but all a blur. I don't even remember the name or any of the other kids. As far as I know, I've been modeling for a while now. Just started a few months back." Madeline posed with a sultry look, using her arms to prop up her chest as her legs were pushed together to the side.
Danny and Jazz twitched an eye as their faces turned a light shade of green.
Jack returned with the food and drinks and saw Madeline pose. The man was not sure how to react. And from the look on his wife, who caught him staring, he decided to keep a neutral face, hoping for a distraction.
And one came in the form of knocks on the door. But his son beat him to punch as he took a seat. The ghost boy hurried to the entrance in hopes of anything to distance himself, despite his slight intrigue on the matter, but that all was dropped when he opens the door to see Vlad Masters.
"Ah, Daniel, thank you," Vlad greeted with his facade of a perfect gentleman. He waited as Danny stepped aside with a scrunched up face before walking with a smirk. The two shared a brief staring contest as the man entered the Fenton household.
He stopped, blinking at Maddie and Madeline, who were too busy conversing to notice him. Not even Jack said hello yet.
"I must say, when you father told me of woman who looks like Maddie, I had to see this for myself," Vlad said. He turned towards Danny. "I must say, this is rather unexpected."
"Like something else was planned?" Danny snarked.
Vlad knew what he was implying and chuckled.
"Regardless of what you may think, I was just as surprised by this situation as you," The man said, while the ghost boy clearly did not believe him.
"Says the guy who's been up to something," Danny whispered.
"Correct, little badger. And there's no possible way for you to discover my agenda." Vlad walked past him as he went back to the living room. "So for now, I suggest you deal with it, like always."
The man readjusted his coat as he walked into the living room. He waved and greeted everyone as they finally noticed him.
"Vlady!" Jack cried out with a wave. "Check it out! Maddie has a new twin!"
Vlad took a seat by Madeline, whose eyes were half-lidded. He stared at the woman intensely, keeping his true emotions hidden. Maddie's teeth stopped at her snack as she saw the woman lean over to Vlad, who now noticed the look.
"Ummm...Madeline, right?" Vlad said with an unsure face.
"Yep, but you can call me Lynn, handsome," Madeline said in a sultry silk tone. She sat next to Vlad, putting a hand on his chest, much o the surprise of everyone in the house.
Maddie would have choked on her snack, only biting down as the piece stagnated in her mouth. Her kids stared in shock, and Jack was the only one not creeped out by the display. The man gave his old college friend a thumbs up and a smile.
Vlad Masters had been many things, going from supernatural master mind to charismatic businessman and mayor. But, as soon as Madeline started flirting, the man found himself unable to speak properly l, stuttering with a face redder than a tomato.
"Um-hey-Uh-h-hi-I mean—"
Danny didn't know whether to like or laugh at the man as he watched Madeline close in on the older halfa. So, he settled for going up to his room and distracting himself with whatever he had in mind. It filled his stomach with vileness as he saw his mother with similar mixed emotions.
"You know, I think the Specter Speeder needs tuning...for the next hour," Maddie said as she ran to the basement.
"And I think I'll help," Jazz quipped, jetting out of the room.
Danny, while accepting the fact Madeline was not his mother, could not stand the sight of his arch-nemesis basically being flirted with by the woman. He turned to the stairs and walked up as fast as possible.
"I am so out of here," Danny said.
He was gonna need something to distract him. Luckily, his phone rang, and saw Jen on the contact ID, making him smile as he ran to his room.
"Jen, am I glad to see you," Danny said, answering after shutting the door to his room. The two went on video chat as they talked.
"You look it too. Long day?" Jen asked.
"If by that you mean I've met my mom's clone or long lost sister or whatever and now have her flirting with Vlad, then yes." Danny said the entire stamens in one go, making his girlfriend pause as she stared. It was only a few blinks later did she say anything.
"Wow...that's sounds weird...and kinda gross, I guess."
"Yeah, well, seeing your face definitely makes this a better day."
"Awww...I wish I could be there with you." Jen gave a sultry yet innocent love-struck look. "Would that be better?"
The two lovebirds continued chatting as the rest of the drama unfolded downstairs. The ghost boy didn't know when Vlad had left, and no one but Jack cared, but he was soon called for downstairs to say good bye to Madeline, who actually wanted to come by again.
And while the Fentons were saying their goodbyes, Vlad had returned to his mayoral mansion. Inside, he plopped himself on the couch in his living room as recalled Madeline. The woman left an impressionable image, especially when everyone left them alone.
Vlad collected himself as he left for his private office. He had business to take care of.
"We'll, I must say, out of everything to happen today, that was unexpected," Vlad said to himself.
Walking into his office, his cat Maddie purred in concern as the man went to a mirror he kept around. Inspecting his looks, the man hand combed his hair as he gave a semi-confident grin.
"Ma-de-line...I must she's quite...fine?" Vlad paused for a moment. "Why am I speaking in rythmes?!"
During all his events, natural and super, the man barely had to deal with the advances of such a woman, save for a time Maddie came on to him in the Rockies. Granted, he had a fight with Danny after she left to freshen up, but the fact remained that Vlad was woefully out of practice in the dating world.
"You know what? I'll just blame Jack for that...or just something else. What do you think, Maddie?" He muttered, blaming him for that too.
The cat meowed and purred, cuddling the man as she walked onto his lap. The white feline contrasted the man's black suit as she purred, comforting him.
"Maddie, you're a good cat," Vlad replied, petting the cat.
However, the moment waS interrupted as a red light flickered on Vlad's desk. With a press of a button and a holographic Maddie program appeared.
"Lambchop, your 3 o'clock is calling. Shall I patch him through?" The holo-Maddie said in a sickeningly sweet tone.
Mayor Masters shook his head as he refocused his efforts back on his master plan. After signaling his AI Maddie that he'll be ready in a moment, took a quick minute to check that his hair was neat and straightened his tie. Seeing that he was perfectly presentable now, Vlad transformed into Plasmius and phased downwards into his secret underground basement Laboratory.
Transforming back into Masters, the man connected the signal, putting it on the holo display.
"Now then, Lex, I'm so glad you could take the time to talk."
The next day, school had resumed as normal, but now circulating with the gossip of Maddie Fenton's alleged twin. It wasn't the hottest topic, but that didn't stop snide remarks from jocks passing by. The ghost boy ignored it, with more pressing matters like midterms coming up after the current tests.
After what was one of the longest days in school, Danny burst o it the door, savoring the sun shining on him. He felt he made parole early.
"Finally!" He said.
"Glad to see you avoided detention today..."Sam snarked.
"Ok, so what do you guys want to do?" Danny asked.
As his friends and some students saw, he disappeared in a flash of light.
Sam and Tucker studied the dust where the ghost boy once was as they panicked.
"Danny!" They cried in sync.
Not much to say now. Glad to update this and show a little plot, even if it did come late. Vlad's plans will be revealed in the next few chapters. I've outline the next five or so chapters. Enjoy!
Special Thanks! to Flower Princess11 for all her help!
Reviews:
Jebest4781: Jen will find out soon too. I'm working on those chapters right now.
Invader Johnny: I won't spoil anything, but Jen will want an explanation soon. Or at least get Danny something for the washroom.
RonaldM40196867: Yes to many of your statements. Though with the Star Wars and Space Wars franchises, I didn't want to change Darth's character at all, so they both exist. There is a small vocal community for Space Wars compared to Star Wars. Jimmy Falcone is a character from Fugget about It, who's a capo from the mob that ratted out his friends to save his Uncle Cheech. It's Canadian Family Guy, but more like it's so bad, it's good. Never been to Canada. Ron may have PTSD. Possibly. No.
danifan3000: No. Ron was making an idiom. I don't think the people of Amity Park are morons, just more apathetic. Plus everyone thinks ghosts are ghosts, not mutants or superpowered people. No. Jen did that for another reason. I'll edit the previous chapter at some point or show it in a future chapter.
Luiz4200: Not spoiling anything.
Guest: Soon.
61394: Those are the gangsters of the Gambini crime family. Jimmy Falcone was a capo for them before ratting them out to save his Uncle Ceech. Watch Fugget About It for more details. Box Ghost saw South Park, and I think he was too excited at the prospect of a square nation to care. Though Tucker wishes he could build chemistry with Velma right now, but that's gonna be later. I wanted Sam to get over her jealousy, but I wanted her to do it with some fun.
Guest 2: Thanks!
Andrew Kynder Adams: No worries about time. I don't care about lateness with reviews. Thanks for reviewing.
Soggy Fisher Woods: I don't really hold grudges, especially for something petty like reviews. No worries.
Jay The Average Fanboy: Yes. Not sure yet. In a way, yes.
KhyDragon(Guest): Just wait and read or see.
ZoomedIn: Box Ghost is still in Canada. For Jimmy Falcone, watch Fugget About It.
Guest 3: Thanks!
