The previously warm night had slowly become a soft chill.
Davy continue to look off to the side into the trees with nervousness.
"Wh-Who the hell was that?" Davy asked before Tore sniffling got the former Marine's attention once more.
"Tore.." Davy said softly.
Tore continued to look down his expression hidden by his hood.
"What do you mean you killed someone?.. I mean.. i'm pretty sure you killed that agent back there and you seemed fine since?" Davy wondered.
Tore shook his head.
"No.. he survived.. I can tell. His body felt really hard when I punched it.." Tore said.
Davy grit his teeth.
"Iron body... the Marine's new technique... damn..." Davy said with aggravation.
Tore slowly looked at Davy.
"Th-There's something.. I still haven't showed you.." Tore said.
Davy stared at Tore with confusion and wonder.
Tore held out his hands as a red cosmic energy began to form in the space between his hands. Davy was surprised.
"Wh-What the hell?" Davy asked.
Tore slowly shaped the red energy into a cosmic kunai.
"T-Tore.. what is this? Is this your true ability?" Davy asked.
Tore, biting his lower lip, nodded. Tears lightly fell down Tore's face.
"Th-This... is what I used to kill the man..." Tore said.
Davy couldn't believe it.
Flashback (5 years prior)
An 18 year old Tore walked down a path a few miles away from the abandoned Tokitari Village, returning home to Ubois's church.
Tore walked with a white and maroon trimmed cloak with the D clan symbol on it, his signature black bandana, black gloves and joggers with black sandals all hidden underneath the cloak.
"Almost home.. I wonder if Mr. McGuire can make any new medicines with these flowers, they must be rare! No one's ever climed The Motionless Summit to its peak I'm sure.. the lack of wind turned the summit into a scorching hot desert, if you even make it that far." Tore said, "Hm?"
Two sinobi slowly emerged from behind trees with bows and arrows, another tall, all white shinobi with a red moon painted on his head, glowing blue eyes and a two black bladed swords with blue flames stared down at Tore with cold eyes.
The man's long black hair flowed down his shoulders, his black and turqoise, open-chested kimono glowing in the dark.
Tore looked around at the men.
"Hello!" Tore said.
"Hello.." The all white shinobi said, "My name is Shen. I believe I heard you mention something... rare?" Shen asked.
"Well, hello Mr. Shen, you look cool! Yeah! I discovered a new flower!" Tore said happily, going into his bag.
Shen looked back at the archers as the three shadowkin awkwardly exchanged glances.
Shen looked back at Tore who pulled out a beautiful rose styled flower with a dark purple stem, yellow spots on the purple flowers surrounding its bright blue petals, the petal was surrounded by smaller white leaves.
"It's like a little space flower! Cool huh? But um.. what are you guys doing? Why are they aiming those arrows at me?" Tore asked.
"My men are only protecting me, they mean no harm.. but.. how about you hand over that flower." Shen said..
Tore looked at the flower then Shen.
"Well, I'm sorry Mr. Shen but I need to get home, I'm not sure how long it will last without being in the ground. I found it in a desert essentially, but who knows what nutrients it was getting." Tore explained.
"Just shut up for one god damn second boy. And give me that flower." Shen said coldly, drawing his swords. The archers raised their bows.
Tore looked at them all with fear and nervousness.
"Wh-Wh-" Tore was stopped when they all heard a noise.
Suddenly a purple, large, fat, stinky, wart covered man with a long tongue and green toxins coming out of his body emerged from the trees.
The man had glowing green eyes and sharp teeth, a giant bead chain and a sumo styled pony tail.
Grogi "The Toad"
"Listen kid, you're being robbed. Hand over everything you got on you and we won't slaughter you." Grogi hissed, "Me and the boys scored big earlier so we're feeling generous."
"Y-You're robbing me? I-I don't-" Tore was interrupted.
"Shut. Up. Please I'm tired of your voice.." Shen said, approaching Tore.
"G-Get away from me!" Tore yelled, putting the flower in his bag and turning to run away.
Grogi licked his lips and blasted his tongue at Tore, wrapping around the latter's body.
"Wh-What?! I-I cant't breathe! St-Stop!" Tore yelled.
Grogi slowly brought Tore back as the archers laughed under their masks and Shen shook his head slowly.
"You should've just given it to us.." Shen said softly.
Grogi laughed as Tore cried from the pain and lack of breath.
"St-Stop!! P-Please! I don't want to die!!! Please stop!!" Tore choked out the last of his breath to plead one last time.
Shen went through Tore's bag to retrieve the flower.
"You think we care about you screaming for help? You know how many people died just like this?! HaHaHaHaHa!! You should've just given us the flower like Shen said!" Grogi laughed.
The warm wind suddenly blew a cool breeze.
Grogi continued to laugh as he noticed something. Someone watching them.
"Hey! Who is that?!" Grogi yelled, throwing Tore, who was now unconcious and bleeding from his mouth and down his body, to the side.
Shen stood up with the flower as the archers aimed into the trees. They all saw the same figure. They all choked up with fear.
"Wh-What the hell are you doing here?! You-You died!!! She died, didn't she?! We sold her to the Undead did we not?!?! Somebody say something!!" Grogi panicked.
Even Shen choked up with fear.
"I-...I-" Shen stammered, "H-How is this.. possible?... This must be an illusion.."
The archers looked at each other with fear as they shakily aimed their bows at Minaki.
Minaki stared at the men as she looked down at Tore and slowly back up, her only focus was Grogi.
"She's-She wants me!" Grogi yelled as Minaki pulled out a kunai and dashed towards Grogi, at the same time, Tore conjured a red, cosmic katana and jumped up towards Grogi.
Grogi backed away with panic, confusion, and shock. Minaki ran towards Grogi with a stone cold expression, Tore ran toward's Grogi screaming with fear and anxiety. Losing himself.
"L-LEAVE ME ALONE!!! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!" Tore screamed at the top of his lungs.
"W-Wait!!" Grogi yelled with fear as Tore slashed his throat with the katana.
Shen and the other archers watched with horror as Tore screamed and cut down Grogi, slicing his body with deep cuts, easily slicing bone.. but Grogi saw Minaki as the killer.
"St-Stop..." Grogi said weakly as Minaki cut him across the chest and neck once more, forcing Grogi to fall back against a tree and slump over.
Shen and the archers were stuck with a one thousand yard stare at the situation. The archers backed away slowly and ran off with fear.
Tore breathed heavily in and out, shaking with fear and adrenaline.
Slowly, thunder started to roll in. Followed by light rain.
Shen continued to stare with shock at the killing before slowly backing away and disappearing into the woods.
As the rain fell harder, Tore realized what had happened.
"No.." Tore said, running up to Grogi's deceased body.
"No no no no no I didn't want this!... I...I didn't!" Tore cried, trying to stop the bleeding unsuccessfully.
Ubois walked through the forest on his usual nightly walk as the half giant half human man whistled. Rain had begin to fall but Ubois used a small tree as an umbrella.
"Tore's been gone for a while.. about a month now.. I wonder what he's been up to. I can't wait to hear about it." Dubois smiled.
Dubois looked to the side to see someone in the trees. It was Minaki.
"L-Lady M-Minaki? You're-" Dubois was interrupted by Minaki running into the trees.
"H-Hey! Wait!" Dubois yelled, chasing Minaki through the trees, until he heard the cries.
Tore screamed at the top his lungs as he cried for Grogi. Dubois stared with just about every emotion in the book.
"Th-That's Grogi The Toad...! And..T-Tore?!... what in the world happened here?" Dubois said to himself.
Tore continued to scream for Grogi.
"I'M SO SORRY!!" Tore screamed into the storming sky.
End of Flashback
Tore hung his head low, staring at the cosmic kunai, his expression hidden by his hood.
Davy stared at Tore with sympathy.
"T-Tore.." Davy said softly as the former Marine looked at Tore's kunai.
"So this.. this is life force?" Davy asked, "And what those robbers had going on with the glowing bodies and weapons?"
"L-Life force?" Tore asked.
Davy was completely shocked.
"You.. don't even know what life force is?" Davy asked before looking away with disbelief.
"N-No.. what is it, Mr. Davy?" Tore asked.
Davy slowly looked up.
"Bastards... all those god damn years..." Davy mumbled angrily.
"Mr. Davy?" Tore asked.
Davy lowered his head once more, shaking it.
"I'm just.. I'm finally opening my eyes to the lies.. your life force's true power is what they're afraid of.. and you don't even know it.. let alone what life for e is to begin with..." Davy said sadly, "They made you sound like a monster.."
Tore's eyes slowly widened with confusion, sadness, and anxiety.
"Wh-Why?... I-I don't... I don't understand!.." Tore said.
Davy shook his head slowly.
"They wouldn't tell us any more than you needed to be killed because of your power.. but.. knowing what I know now.." Davy paused.
Tore sniffled and stared at Davy.
Davy looked at Tore and nodded slowly.
"You are connected to a deeper truth.. and your death would help them either conceal that truth or keep others from trying to use your power. I mean, imagine if the other 19 kingdoms and 170 countries knew about you? About life force? It would mean world war!" Davy explained.
Tore looked away with fear and confusion in his eyes.
"P-People.. will really do all that.. for me? For.. power?" Tore asked.
Davy reached out and put a hand on Tore's shoulder, shaking him in reassurance.
"I'm afraid so.. but what's the point of power if it's not used to protect? Why must it be used for death, for slavery?" Davy said.
Tore looked down at the cosmic kunai with sadness, thinking of Lily, then Ubois, and smiling.
"You sound like Papa Ubois.." Tore said.
Davy smiled.
"You said you always wanted to see the world right?" Davy asked.
Tore smiled and nodded his head.
"My dream.. is to become Fleet Admiral of the Marines.. and get rid of all this corruption!" Davy said with a smile.
"We're..we're gonna be alright, son.." Davy said.
Tore began to smile big until a familiar voice interrupted them.
"COOL!!!!" Joy Boy yelled.
Tore panicked and got rid of the cosmic katana as Davy looked over at Joy Boy with aggitation.
"Damn it Joy Boy! I'm trying to have a serious conversation with Tore!" Davy yelled.
"Sorry! Hahaha I couldn't help it! That's a cool ability Tore! Is that what you can do with your life force?" Joy Boy asked.
Tore was still slightly upset but answered.
"I-Um... I don't know.. I've been able to do this since I was a kid.." Tore said, "But I hate it.."
Joy Boy pouted.
"Don't hate it!! It's cool!" Joy Boy said.
"Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask you, Joy Boy, what was your life force ability you demonstrated back there?" Davy asked.
Joy Boy looked at Davy seriously then smiling.
"Only thing I can do with life force is harden my arms and other body parts like everyone else! I got my power from a fruit!" Joy Boy said.
Davy and Tore were both shocked.
"A-A-A fruit gave you that power?! You're bluffing." Davy said.
"Are you being serious, Mr. Joy Boy?" Tore asked.
"Hahahahahaha of course! I was praying to my friend Jambavan's god, Nika, one day and a melon next to me started to change and morph into a purple fruit with spirals! I had to eat it!" Joy Boy said.
"Impossible... I've never heard of such a thing.. just what is the Mainland?" Davy asked.
"Oh, Davy you have to go! Tore you too! There are loads of people who can do cool stuff with life force!" Joy Boy said.
Davy looked around.
"It's just one thing after another with this life force mess... now there are fruits that give powers?" Davy asked.
"As far as I know I ate the only one." Joy Boy said.
Davy shook his head.
"Well keep it down for now.. the last thing we need is the Marines getting intel on magic fruits. They already want the island's life force supply." Davy said.
"Affirmative!" Joy Boy said, stomping his foot and saluting Davy.
"Stop that foolishness!" Davy yelled.
Tore laughed and wiped his eyes as Cleo emerged from the trees with Kotatsu.
"Cleo? What are you doing here? Did the man at the campfire leave?" Joy Boy asked.
Cleo scoffed.
"Yeah.. he left alright. I killed him." Cleo said.
Tore's face filled with concern, Joy Boy looked around at everyone in confusion, and Davy stared at Cleo with his mouth agape.
"What the hell did you kill him for?!?!" Davy yelled.
Cleo shook her head and reached into her chest armor, pulling out four pieces of paper, handing them to Davy.
Davy received the papers and his eyes were already about to pop out of his head on sight of the first paper, but got worse as he shuffled through them.
WANTED: CLEOPHEONIX VAS, DEAD OR ALIVE.
WANTED: JOY BOY, DEAD OR ALIVE.
WANTED: DAVY JONES, ONLY ALIVE.
WANTED: TOREBION TEIRA, ONLY DEAD.
Davy looked at Cleo again with worry.
"O-Only dead...?" Tore thought with sadness, "Th-They really want me dead this badly..."
Joy Boy stared at Tore.
"Tore c-come on! It's you they really want!" Davy said.
Joy Boy noticed this.
"Hm? Why do they want you, friend?" Joy Boy asked Tore.
"We don't have time to explain!" Davy said.
"Why do they want you dead, friend?" Joy Boy asked Tore once more.
Tore, Davy, and Cleo looked at Joy Boy. Tore looked away.
"I don't know.." Tore said, trying to fight his tears.
"You don't know? They want you dead and won't even tell you why?!" Joy Boy slightly raged. Cleo noticed.
"J-Joy Boy.. he's.. angry.." Cleo stared at Joy Boy with concern.
"He's already used that form's power.. and it's plastered on his WANTED poster.. above all else I need to keep the king calm.. until we can gain some sort of upper hand in all this.." Cleo thought to herself, looking at Kotatsu.
Davy grit his teeth.
"The Government claims Tore is of an alien race.. a weapon of mass destruction that needs to be destroyed... I-I can't apologize enough.." Davy said.
Tore shook with sadness.
"Cowards.." Cleo said angrily, "Anyone can tell you're a sweetheart."
Tore looked at Cleo and smiled softly.
"Th-Thank you Ms. Cleo." Tore said.
Joy Boy smiled big.
"I ain't letting them lay a finger in you friend! I promise! I put my life on it! Anyone who touches a friend of mine is gonna pay!" Joy Boy yelled.
Tore smiled big with happy tears. Davy smiled as well, until Cleo smiled too until she noticed something.
"They only want him alive though, why?" Cleo spit.
Davy looked at Cleo with slight fear. Before Davy could speak Cleo interrupted him.
"You'd better start talking now. Before we take another step." Cleo said.
"It's not what you think Ms. Cleo! Ask Tore, they tried to kill me at first!... I think.. this is a personal request.. from a higher up. Not only did I betray the Marines by working with Tore, I've killed multiple of them already.. they-they must want to use me as an example of what happens to turncoats.." Davy explained.
Cleo scrunched her face with anger.
"One more strike left Mr. Jones. Your Marines have already invoked more than enough suffering on our island, you're lucky I've given you all these chances." Cleo said.
Davy nodded.
"Trust I understand Ms. Cleo.. I'm with you all now." Davy said.
Joy Boy smiled big and threw his arms in the air.
"WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!! I guess we're really officially criminals now!"
Davy was going to contest but gave in and smiled softly.
"You're such a fool.." Davy said with a smile.
Joy Boy looked back at Davy with a big smile.
Tore looked at them all and softly smiled himself. After a moment, Tore asked the group something.
"Hey, you all?" Tore said.
Davy, Cleo, and Joy Boy looked at Tore.
"Um.. since we're.. um.. all on the run together.. could I.. draw a group picture of you? Of us?" Tore asked.
The three smiled.
"Of course!" They all said in unison as Tore smiled big.
"O-Okay! Mr. Davy you stand over there, Ms. Cleo you right there, and Mr. Joy Boy you stand there." Tore instructed.
The three stood where they were told as Tore began drawing happily.
Skies over ??? (Present Day)
Robin looked over the drawing Tore made with a soft smile as Tore's Robin broke through the clouds. Robin glanced at the surroundings and was filled with complete shock.
A massive city, protected by a giant wall, sat below them. Lights asthetically glowing all over.
Robin's mouth widened with a big smile. Tore looked back at Robin with a loving smile.
"D-Dad where are we?" Robin asked.
Tore smiled even bigger, turning around.
"Robin.." Tore said.
Robin stared at Tore with anticipation.
"Welcome to Ba Sing Se!" Tore yelled, his arms wide open.
Robin couldn't believe what she heard. Ba sing se? What is that? Where is that?
"Ba...Sing Se?" Robin asked.
Tore continued to smile.
"Welcome to the truth.. Robin." Tore said.
Robin continued to stare at Tore until she looked down at the city once more.
