Walking back to the front of her bookstore with a box in her hand, Elena noticed Caroline walk in. "Hey, Caroline," she said as she set the box of new books on the counter. "What can I do for you?"
"You can start by telling me what exactly happened between you and Diego," Caroline said as she crossed her arms over her chest.
Elena rolled her eyes as she sighed exasperatedly. "What did he tell you?"
"He told me that you've been avoiding his calls, and he mentioned that you kicked him out of your apartment."
Elena nodded. "Yeah, I did."
"Why would you do that?" Caroline asked.
"Because Caroline, things between me and Diego were moving too fast, and I'm just not ready to jump into a new relationship right now. Besides, I'm really not into him." Elena said as she shrugged her shoulders slightly.
"Oh come on, Elena, Diego is perfect for you. It's obvious that he's into you," Caroline said as she dropped her arms. "Can't you just give him a chance?"
Elena sighs deeply as she shakes her head. "I'm sorry, Caroline, but I can't," Elena said as she walked up to her. "Listen, Caroline, you're one of my best friends, and I know that you're just trying to help out, and I love you for it. But it's just not going to work out with Diego. So can you please back off a little?"
Caroline sighed deeply and nodded. "Fine, I'll back off. I just want you to be happy, that's all."
With a friendly smile, Elena nodded. "I know, and I really do appreciate that. But I am happy. I'm finally free from Tyler, and I feel pretty good about it." She said, reassuring Caroline that she was happy.
"Are you still coming to Bonnie and Stefan's for Thanksgiving?" Caroline asked, remembering the main reason why she stopped by the bookstore in the first place.
"Of course, I'm coming. I'm bringing the cranberry sauce," Elena said with a chuckle.
"What about Jenna and Ric?"
"They're both coming; Aunt Jenna is bringing her homemade chocolate cream pie along with her coconut cream pie."
"Oooh, I can't wait," Caroline said as she looked down at her phone and realized what time it was. "Crap, I gotta get back to work. I'll call you later tonight." She added, waving goodbye as she walked out of Elena's bookstore.
After Caroline left, Elena walked behind the counter and opened the cash register. She then pulled out an envelope full of money. After closing it, Elena grabbed her purse and car keys, looking over at April.
"Watch the bookstore for me. I've got to go see my lawyer about something. I'll be back in thirty minutes." Elena said as she walked out of her bookstore.
"Is this the money I gave you?" Damon asked once he opened the envelope and noticed that it was full of cash. The same amount he had given her for her bookstore.
Elena nodded her head. "Yeah, I told you that I was going to pay you back, and I did." She said as she smiled. "Besides, it's my way of saying thank you."
"For what?"
"For everything. For helping me with my divorce from Tyler. For paying for my bookstore, and most of all, for believing in me," Elena said, smiling softly.
"I was just doing my job, Elena. And as for your bookstore, I wanted to help out. I just couldn't see you lose it, especially after everything you've gone through. I would gladly do it for you." Damon said softly, looking into her eyes, letting her know that he meant it.
Elena could feel her face getting slightly red just by the way he was looking at her and the way she was looking at him. Elena took a deep breath as she moved a few strands of hair and cleared her throat. "I should get back to the store; I had April watch it for me." She said as she started to stand up.
Damon couldn't help but smirk a little as she noticed her blushing. It was cute...sexy even. Damon started to wonder how sexy she would be underneath him. Just to feel her warm and soft skin against his as they both make passionate love for the first time. Damon even wondered what she would sound like when he pleasured her in every way. The more he thought about it, the harder he felt.
Damon was suddenly brought out of his thoughts when he noticed Elena was standing up, getting ready to walk out of his office. Damon let out a breath and nodded his head as he sat up straight. "And I gotta be in court in five minutes." He said as he set the envelope aside and got up from his desk, walking Elena out of his office.
Once they were out of his office and after Damon closed his office door behind him, he said, "Hey, I've been meaning to ask earlier, but are you still seeing that Diego guy?" Damon wasn't sure why he was really asking, but he couldn't help himself.
Elena wasn't really expecting Damon to ask her that question, but in a way, she was kinda glad that he did. "No, actually after our third date, I decided to end it." Elena responded with a shrug.
" Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. What happened between you two?"
Elena shrugged again as she pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "Nothing really, I just felt that there was nothing there between us and I felt it wasn't really going to work out." Elena answered, telling him part of the truth about what happened. She couldn't come right out and tell Damon that she had been thinking about him the whole time she and Diego were having sex. That would be embarrassing even for her.
Damon couldn't help but be relieved that it didn't work out between Elena and Diego. It only meant that he might have a chance with her. The only thing standing in his way is the woman he's currently seeing... Andie Starr. Andie is great and amazing in bed, which Damon has no complaints about. But she's not Elena.
"Well, I better let you go. I need to get to court. I will see you soon, Elena," Damon said softly as he gently placed his hand against her waist, leaned forward, and kissed her cheek softly before pulling away, letting her go, and nodding his head before walking away.
Elena let out a soft gasp as soon as she felt his hand against her waist and his lips against her cheek. Her body was already feeling warm and tingly just by his touch, and then when he pulled away, she was suddenly feeling cold. She was already missing his warm touch.
Watching Damon walk away, Elena closed her eyes for a moment, letting out a deep breath to calm herself down. She had no idea what just happened, but she felt something there between them. She felt that spark, and she could tell he felt it too.
Walking through the door of his apartment after a long day, Damon closed the door behind him and tossed his car keys and wallet on the small table by the door. He then tossed his jacket over the arm of the couch as he walked towards the kitchen.
Taking a drink of his bourbon after he poured himself a glass, Damon leaned back against the kitchen counter and let out a breath, unable to stop the grin that slowly spread across his face at the thought of Elena.
Damon could barely stay focused in the court room because he was distracted by Elena. The feeling of her touch against his hand and the feeling of her soft skin against his lips. He chuckled softly as he remembered the soft gasp that came out of her lips. He could've sworn he heard a little moan, but he wasn't sure.
The moment Elena told him that things between her and Diego didn't work out, he had the urge to grab her and just go for it and plant one on her. He desperately wanted to kiss her. He wanted to kiss her long, slowly, and passionately. He really wanted to take her in his arms and not let go. But instead, he just kissed her cheek and walked away, and that was even more painful.
Damon sighs deeply as soon as he hears his cell phone ringing. Pulling it out of his pocket, he answers without seeing who it is calling, as he already knows who it is. "Hey, Andie, just getting off from work, already?" He asks.
"Yeah, I was thinking maybe I could come over. We could order takeout, maybe watch a movie, and I could possibly spend the night." Andie answered, gently biting her bottom lip at the thought of having Damon make love to her all night. They've only been seeing each other for a month, and so far, things between them are going well. Andie likes Damon... she's in love with him, and she doesn't want to lose that feeling, she doesn't want to lose him.
Damon quickly checked the time before he responded to her. "I don't know if tonight is a good time, Andie." He said as he took another drink of his bourbon. Damon didn't mean to sound like a dick, but he really wasn't up for any visitors.
"Come on, Damon, please. There's something I want to tell you, and it's important," Andie said as she tried again. She smirks slightly as she heard him sigh.
"Well, if it's important and you obviously don't want to wait. Then, yeah, come over because there's something that I kinda need to tell you as well." If Damon is ever going to tell Andie what's really on his mind, he might as well tell her tonight and get it over with.
"Great, I will be there in five minutes." Andie said with a smile as she hung up.
Damon sighed heavily as he pulled his phone away from his ear and set it down. "I can't wait," he said under his breath as he downed the bourbon and poured himself another glass.
AN: I know, it's seems like I'm sorta dragging this whole Delena thing out and I still haven't put them together yet. But don't worry it will happen soon... very soon. I'm just waiting for the right moment. Also I got a New Delena story coming soon. I just need to finish the first chapter. XD.
