Bonnie was in the kitchen finishing up preparing Thanksgiving dinner with some help from her mom and Grams while Stefan, Damon, and her father were all out in the living room watching a football game. Thanksgiving has always been one of Bonnie's favorite holidays, along with Christmas. She always loved it when her family all came together and spent time together. With work and since her parents and Grams don't travel much, they don't always get a chance to come visit, so having her family over for Thanksgiving this year was really important for Bonnie.

"So, who else is coming over?" Bonnie's Grams asked as she placed extra cheese on top of her macaroni and cheese before putting it in the oven. So far, she knows that Caroline and Klaus are coming over with their daughter.

" Just Elena and her Aunt Jenna and Uncle Ric." Bonnie said as she took a sip of her wine before taking a seat at the kitchen table.

"What about her husband?" Grams asked.

"Her and Tyler are recently divorced, Grams," Bonnie answered, taking another drink of her wine before setting the glass down.

"Oh, right. Sorry, dear. I guess it sort of slipped my mind. You know, my mind isn't as sharp as it used to be," Sheila said with a small laugh as she walked towards the table and sat beside Bonnie. "How is she doing, by the way?"

Bonnie blew out a breath as she shrugged her shoulders. "She's fine and seems to be a lot happier now that she's free from Tyler."

"I still can't believe that Tyler would actually cheat on her," Abby chimed in, shaking her head with disappointment as she joined her daughter and mother. "You know if your father ever tried to cheat on me, I might end up killing him."

Bonnie snorted, shaking her head. "I know, Mom," she said. She heard a knock at the front door. "Can someone please answer the door?" she asked. She got up from the table, grabbed the food, and brought it into the dining room.

Damon was the first one to get up and opened the door because he was closer to it. Opening the door, Damon nodded his head towards Caroline and Klaus, their daughter Hope. "Happy Thanksgiving," he said to the couple as he moved aside and let them in. He then looked over when he noticed Elena standing outside with her aunt and uncle.

Seeing Elena standing in front of him had taken his breath away. She just looks more beautiful every time he sees her. Damon could already feel his cock twitching against his zipper. He took a deep breath and leaned down, gently kissing her cheek. "Happy Thanksgiving, Elena," he said softly.

A smile spread across her face as her heart started to flutter when she felt his lips against her cheek again. "Happy Thanksgiving, Damon," she said, then turned towards Jenna and Ric, who were standing behind her.

" Damon, I would like you to meet my Aunt Jenna and her husband, my Uncle Alaric. Guys, this is my lawyer, Damon Salvatore." She said, introducing them to each other as they walked through the door, before Damon shut the door behind them.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Jenna," Damon said with a smile as he shook her hand and leaned down to give her a friendly kiss on the cheek. Then, he looked over at Alaric. "Good to meet you, sir," he said as he shook Alaric's hand.

"Likewise, Damon," Alaric said as he shook Damon's hand before letting go. "Thanks for helping our niece with her divorce and finally getting her out of that marriage and away from that ex-husband of hers." Alaric never really liked Tyler from the beginning. So he was very happy when Elena finally came to her senses and divorced him.

Damon nodded as he looked over at Elena. "There's no need to thank me. Like I told your niece, I was just doing my job, and I would gladly do it again if I had to." He said softly, a small smirk curling up in the corner of his mouth as he kept staring at Elena tenderly.

Elena could feel the heat rising up her face as she started to blush when she felt Damon staring at her. She then cleared her throat. "I'm going to put these pies in the refrigerator. Aunt Jenna, do you want to help?" she asked, starting to walk away from Damon.

"Sure," Jenna answered as she followed Elena into the kitchen. "Hey, you didn't tell me that your lawyer is hot, like dangerously hot." Jenna whispered, giggling softly with a smirk.

Elena shrugged slightly as she closed the refrigerator door. "He's alright, I mean, I haven't really noticed," she said nonchalantly. Of course, she had noticed how hot Damon was; she'd known about it since they met, but she didn't want her aunt to know that.

Jenna snorted a little as she shook her head. "Well, if you asked me, I think Damon likes you."

"What makes you say that?" Elena asked with a laugh.

"Because he couldn't stop looking at you from the moment he answered the door," Jenna answered with a smirk.

Elena sighed exasperatedly, rolling her eyes. "I'm going to let Bonnie know that we're here," she said as she walked out of the kitchen, heading towards the dining room.

After everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, the girls decided to have some girl talk out in Bonnie's backyard while the guys went back to watching another football game. Once the wine was poured and everyone settled around the table on the lawn, Caroline was the first person to ask the question she knew everyone was thinking.

"Alright, Elena. Spill it. What's going on between you and Damon?" Caroline asked, raising her eyebrows.

Elena snorted a little as she shook her head. "There's nothing going on between Damon and me. He's just my lawyer." She answered, setting her glass down after taking a sip of her wine. "Why are you even asking?"

"Oh, I don't know. Probably because all through dinner, Damon never once took his eyes off of you. He was practically drooling over you. It made me almost lose my dinner," Caroline said with a cringe as she shuddered.

Bonnie then snorted a laugh. "He was looking at you like he wanted to drag you into bed and just devour you," Bonnie said with a giggle, noticing her best friend blushing.

Elena rolled her eyes as she sighed exasperatedly. "Just because Damon wants to take me into bed and make passionate love to me all night, and as much as I would love for that to happen, it's never going to happen. I just got out of a ten-year marriage, and I'm just not ready to jump into anything yet. That's why I broke up with Diego after our third date."

"You never really told me why you broke up with him," Caroline said as she took another sip of her wine.

Elena shrugged and shook her head. "There's really not much to tell. Like I told you before, Care, it just wasn't working out with him. So I had to end it before it got too serious and before either of us got hurt down the road."

"Yeah, but something must have happened between you two," Bonnie said with a shrug.

Elena looked at both of her friends and rolled her eyes with a sigh. "Okay, something did happen."

"You're going to tell us or just leave us hanging?"

Elena sighed exasperatedly. "Fine, I slept with Diego." She then cringed when she heard Caroline shriek.

"Oh my god, Elena!" Caroline frowned for a moment. "But if you slept with him, why would you break up with him? It doesn't make sense."

Elena snorted, shaking her head. "Only to you, Caroline. After I slept with him, I realized that we weren't really meant for each other, and it just didn't feel right. Diego is a nice guy, but he's not who I want," she said softly, finishing her wine.

Later that evening, after everyone said goodbye, Elena and Damon started to walk towards her aunt's car. "I'm glad you came over to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner with us. Your aunt and uncle seem like great people." Damon said as they both stood by Jenna's car.

Elena looked over at her aunt and uncle while they were still talking to Bonnie's parents and Grams. "Yeah, they are," she said with a small smile as she then looked up at Damon. "Well, have yourself a good night, Damon, and Happy Thanksgiving." She added as she leaned up and gently kissed his cheek.

Damon smirked slightly as he felt her soft lips against his face. He then reached for her hand and slowly raised it up as he gently kissed her knuckles. "Good night, Elena, and Happy Thanksgiving." He said softly, then opened the door for her and closed it once she got inside.

"Goodnight, Jenna," Damon said as he leaned down and gave her a friendly kiss on her cheek.

"Good night, Damon. I left a couple pieces of chocolate cream pie for you, by the way." Jenna said with a smile.

"Oh, you're a Godsend. Thank you, Jenna," Damon said as he then shook Alaric's hand. "We should get together sometime, Ric, and go out for a drink."

Alaric nodded as he let go of Damon's hand after shaking it. "Yeah, let's do that. Good night, Damon." He said, wrapping his arm around Jenna's waist as they started toward her car.

Damon waved them goodbye as he felt Stefan standing next to him. "Whatever you gotta say, just save it, Stefan."

"Elena is Bonnie's best friend, Damon."

"I'm aware of that, Stefan. What are you saying?" Damon asks as he raises his brow and looks over at his little brother. "Are you afraid that I might hurt Elena or something?"

Stefan sighs deeply as he turns around and stands in front of Damon. "Elena is vulnerable right now, Damon, and I don't think it's a good idea for you to take advantage of that. I think it's best if you just back off a little."

"What the hell is supposed to mean?" Damon asked with a scowled look on his face.

Stefan scoffed. "You know exactly what that means, Damon."

Damon sighs deeply through his nose as he shakes his head. "I'm not like that, Stefan. I haven't been like that for a long time. I like Elena, Stefan. I care about her, and being around her makes me feel good. It makes me want to do better."

Damon is falling for Elena Gilbert, and he'll do anything to make her his.
