Theory#15: Dr. Kamizono faked his own death.
Dr. Kamizono may have falsely reported the explosion to fake his death for reasons unknown. To make it seem true, he gave Copen his gun and researach as inheritance. This also ensured that the data didn't seem to survive so nobody would know the truth.
He was in trouble, his assitant was in trouble, their superiors were in trouble, the world was in trouble. This was undeniably the truth for Dr. Kamizono after his test subject escaped. Codenamed Takefutsu, the test subject was being used to experiment with the Azure Striker Septima. Being the first artificially made Adept, he was a valuable resource, one that Sumeragi couldn't lose. And yet, he managed to flee the facility. This was an embarrassment for everyone within Sumeragi, especially the executives and S-FIT workers.
"And no one thought to restrain him!?" the red tie delegate fumed.
"He was restrained before the experiment was started. It was during that time that he used his Azure Striker to break the chains. Somehow, the electricity turned them red hot and allowed them to easily break." Dr. Kamizono corrected.
"The press is already at our throats about the matter. If we wait any longer, they'll certainly suspect something is wrong." the blue tie delegate worried.
"It looks like we have no choice. As of now, all S-FIT workers are to leave their homes and vacate to new living quarters. If we want people to think the facility was incinerated, we have to make the public believe the same of the researchers working there." the purple tie delegate declared.
"You can't possibly be thinking about doing this. Do you know how many lives you would be displacing? I have a wife and two children at home that I cannot part from." Dr. Kamizono refuted.
"It's the only way, for the betterment of Sumeragi and its goals. As one of our employees I thought you would understand that by now. Besides, you were right about one thing, you won't be allowed to quit. If we permitted you to do so, it would be a great risk to not just Japan, but the world. All other nations would have access to our Septima based technology. Sumeragi monopolizes the industry, and allowing someone like you to jeopardize our business won't be tolerated." the purple tie delegate explained.
Dr. Kamizono scowled before he and his assistant left the facility.
"What are you going to do sir? We can't return home or risk losing our jobs." Mr. Yamato wondered.
"We'll go along with their plan for now. Fake our deaths, leave to stay elsewhere. Except, we won't return to work. If they don't want their secrets shared, then that's what will happen. It will take some time for revenge, but it will happen eventually." Dr. Kamizono responded.
He left a note for his son Copen, along with his research papers and gun, the Border revolver.
"I despise them for doing this, but I despise myself even more for going along with their scheme. And whatever happens, make sure no one here decides to look for me. As far as they know, I'm long gone." Dr. Kamizono complained.
Nori bowed and gave a solemn oath to do just that.
Over a decade later, Copen was looking through one of the files left behind for him. After flipping a page, a small piece of paper fell onto the workbench.
"Hey boss, look at that. What is it?" Lola questioned.
"It seems to be a letter." Copen realized as he unfolded the paper.
Dear Copen,
I'm sorry I was never able to be there for you. I'm certain you're wondering where I am. Don't come looking for me, it's for your own good. Sumeragi has to be stopped at all costs. For years, they have turned human into Adepts which you will learn about by reading the files I left you. You will find my gun locked in the top cabinet, ask Nori for the key. Even though I cannot be there to help you eliminate these monsters from our tainted world, I hope that the items I leave to you will help.
Signed,
Your Father
Copen couldn't believe what he was reading. With the letter still in hand, he went to find Nori. She was talking to the housekeeper about planning another cellist visit.
"Is there something you need, Copen?" Nori queried.
"I found this letter, it says there's a gun in the basement's top cabinet." Copen answered as he handed the letter to Nori.
The maid's eyes went wide in shock.
"Where did you find this?" Nori interrogated.
"I found some files in a drawer, the letter was in one of them." Copen explained.
The housekeeper left, making Copen realize something serious was going on. Whatever Pandora's box he opened, there was no relocking it now.
"Mytyl can't be allowed to know any of this, do you understand?" Nori warned.
"Uh, I'm confused, what's going on here exactly?" Lola pondered.
"Your father despised Adepts and worked for Sumeragi against his will. The marriage between him and your mother was forced for political benefit. Not that they didn't love each other, they did. Shortly after your sister was born, it was revealed she had the Muse Septima.
The same one in Sumeragi's virtual idol. I have no idea what plans Eden has with her Septima. But they won't get ahold of her again. Her Septima was removed shortly after she was born, since her small body couldn't handle such power.
It was placed somewhere in S-FIT, another worker there found it and proposed a theory. After running tests, the Septima was determined to have tracking capabilities. Someone decided to implant it into a lab created test subject in the hopes of Sumeragi benfitting from this. Unfortunately, your father passed away before this.
There was an accident within S-FIT, causing his death. No one knows what caused it, now it's used as a cautionary tale. The Muse Septima was taken from the facility before its destruction." Nori elucidated.
She took the key from its place in a 'secret' book on the shelf. It was actually a hollow cardboard/paper box in the guise of a book. With a rattle and a click, the cabinet door creaked open. There was no rust in the cabinet, the weapon inside looked immaculate, as if it was cleaned that day. Copen took it out, making sure to be very careful in handling it.
"I swear to avenge you father. All Adepts will perish by my hand. I will not rest until the last Adept is wiped from the face of the Earth." Copen whispered.
