Episode 455: The Lisia Cup Part 3
Where we last left off, Kairi, May, Dawn, Drew, Harley, Zoey, and Ursula are among the 16 finalists of the Lisia Cup and only half of the finalists were dealt with. First, May's Blaziken has managed to overcome a Crawdaunt under the ownership of a Coordinator named Kyle, and Zoey has defeated Drew's Roserade with her Glameow, Dawn's Piplup has defeated Harley's Wigglytuff, and finally, Kairi has sent out Lopunny to defeat Ursula's Gabite, leaving it down to Kairi, May, Dawn, and Zoey. Speaking of which, May and Zoey were having their battle before Kairi and Dawn were having theirs.
"It is time for the Lisia Cup semi-finals! On this side is Zoey! And on this side is May! We've got five minutes on the clock!" Marian announced. The timer starts running. "We're off!" May and Zoey each took out a Pokéball and threw it. May has hers in a Ball Capsule with a Flora Sticker A.
"Beautifly! Take the stage!" May called out as Beautifly came on out with pink flower petals. Zoey had her Pokéball in a Ball Capsule with an Electricity Sticker D.
"Glameow! Curtain!" Zoey called out as Glameow came out with lightning shooting downards.
"Silver Wind!" May ordered. Beautifly sends out Silver Wind and it struck the catty Pokémon.
"And May's off to a rousing start! That Silver Wind, combined with Beautifly's sparkling dust, is showering us with a rainbow of colors!" Marian announced. Zoey has lost some points in the process. She was very impressed.
"Now that was a beautiful move!" Zoey said in awe.
"Look at that. May still has it," Chase said.
"She never lost it," Brendan said.
"Now, jump, Glameow!" Zoey called out. Glameow jumped in the air with its tail like a spring to avoid Beautifly's Silver Wind. The butterfly Pokémon was stunned to see how well the feline Pokémon has avoided Silver Wind.
"And Glameow's powerful tail launches it high into the sky!" Marian annoucned as May had lost some points.
"Beautifly! Use Psychic!" May ordered. Beautifly prepares to use Psychic on Glameow.
"Dodge and use Shadow Claw!" Zoey ordered. Glameow avoids Psychic and heads right towards Beautifly.
"Dodge it, Beautifly!" May called out. Beautifly avoids Glameow's Shadow Claw.
"And Beautifly dodges with grace!" Marian announced. Glameow grinned. Zoey has lost some points in the process.
"Now!" Zoey called out as Glameow lands on the water and makes a splash. Beautifly was surprised by the sudden use of water. Beautifly became completely surrounded by the water.
"That was impressive! Beautifly has been completely surrounded by curtain of water created by Glameow's powerful Shadow Claw!" Marian announced. May had lost some points in the process. Glameow sits tight in the water.
"Shock Wave!" Zoey ordered. Glameow unleashed Shock Wave and it gave Beautifly a shock.
"And that Shock Wave cuts right the curtain of water for a direct hit!" Marian announced. "And a super effect hit!" May had lost some more points.
"Zoey blocked out May with Water, so Glameow could hit her with an Electric-type attack!" Kanako said.
"Could that have been Zoey's plan right from the start?" Riku asked.
Beautifly emerges from the water and is giving off static electricity.
"Beautifly! Are you alright?" May asked. Beautifly quickly shook it off and got back into the game. She said in her thoughts, "Zoey's one tough Coordinator, alright." Glameow came on out from the water.
"Nice, Glameow!" Zoey said. Glameow gave off static electricity.
"Now, folks, just take a good look at Glameow! Wrapped up in the remants that Shock Wave, Glameow looks so beautiful, it's almost frightening!" Marian announced.
"Let's turn it up! Iron Tail!" Zoey ordered. Glameow came at Beautifly with Iron Tail.
"Below you! Silver Wind!" May ordered. Beautifly blew Silver WInd at the water and it caught Zoey and Glameow by surprise as Glameow went through the the water. Beautifly flew right at the catty Pokémon. "Now, use Psychic!" Beautifly uses Psychic on Glameow and it sends Glameow back.
"May's not about to give up! Now she's using the water to counterattack and steal some of Zoey's thunder!" Marian announced.
"Morning Sun!" May ordered. Beautifly gave off a sunny glow and heals herself. "Wow, that was fantastic!"
"And a fantastic Morning Sun! Gorgeous and healing, all the same time!" Marian announced.
"Beautifly! Aerial Ace!" May ordered. Beautifly comes at Glameow with Aerial Ace.
"What a change! Beautifly makes the transition from a beautiful Morning Sun to a speedy Aerial Ace!" Marian announced.
"Quick! Shadow Claw!" Zoey ordered. Glameow comes at Beautifly with Shadow Claw and the two had collided. The time has run out.
"That's it! Time's up!" Marian announced. Both of May and Zoey looked to see that May's has more points than Zoey. "After some fierce battling, the Coordinator moving on is May!" The crowd starts cheering.
"Hey, Zoey, that was a great battle," May said.
"Thanks. It was a huge honor to battle you," Zoey said.
"And it looks like it's our turn now, Dawn," Kairi said.
"It sure is, Kairi. Just don't go and hold back," Dawn said.
"Don't worry, Dawn, I won't," Kairi said.
Both Kairi and Dawn shook hands, promising each other a good battle.
"And now, we've entered the second-to-last match of the Lisia Cup! To my left is Dawn, and to my right is Kairi! It's been a while since these two have entered the same stage and we're about to see if history will repeat itself or it will be different! And now, let's start the clock and the battle!" Marian announced as the timer starts. Kairi took out a Pokéball in a Ball Capsule with a Bubble Sticker B.
"Piplup! Spotlight!" Dawn called outl. Her Pokéball opened as Piplup came out with some big hearts. Kairi looked at Angel and nodded. Angel nodded back and entered the battle field in an elegant stance.
"Okay, Angel! Swift!" Kairi ordered. Angel fired Swift right at the Penguin Pokémon. Piplup takes the hit from Angel's Swift. "Now, use Headbutt!" Angel rushes at Piplup with a Headbutt. Angel successfully headbutts Piplup on the mark. Each hit does some damage to Dawn's points.
"Eevee makes a good start with a Swift, followed by a Headbutt! And Dawn's paying for it with her points!" Marian announced.
"Piplup! Come back with a Peck!" Dawn ordered. Piplup rushes at Angel and lands a Peck onto Angel, doing some damage onto Kairi's points. "Bubble Beam!" Piplup fired Bubble Beam, hitting Angel, dealing some extra damage.
"You're doing great, Dawn! You gave me such a hard push!" Kairi said.
"Thanks, Kairi, so let's keep it up!" Dawn said.
"I couldn't agree more!" Kairi said. "Angel! Swift!" Angel fired Swift at Piplup.
"Piplup! Bubble Beam!" Dawn ordered. Piplup fired Bubble Beam and clashed against Angel''s Swift. The stars and bubbles burst upon contact, creating cascading sparkles.
"This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen! Eevee's Swft and Piplup's Bubble Beam are colliding with one another, creating these pretty sparkles!" Marian announced. In the process Kairi and Dawn loses some points.
"Utterly beautiful display with both moves from both Coordinators," Contesta said.
"Remarkable!" Suziko said.
"Oui. It is clear as crystal both Coordinators have put so much effort into their moves. Astoundingly lovely," Fantia said.
"And adding to that, it's dazzling!" Lisia said.
"And nobody's talking about the two of them are losing points while they're using those moves," Ethan said.
"It's not about the amount of points they have, it's all about how they please the audience! And everyone here loves it! They're eating it all up!" Kris said. And she was right. The crowd were loving it.
"Cease fire!" Kairi and Angel called out. Both Angel and Piplup stopped fired their attacks. "Use Quick Attack!" Angel dashed right at Piplup with a Quick Attack.
"Dodge and use Peck!" Dawn ordered. Piplup dodged Angel's Quick Attack and lands a Peck onto Angel, dealing some damage to Angel and Kairi's points. "Now, use Whirlpool!" Piplup forms a Whirlpool and sends it right at Angel.
"And Piplup sends out a Whirlpool right at Eevee!" Marian announced.
"Dodge it, Angel! Hurry!" Kairi called out. Angel ran to avoid Piplup's Whirlpool, but she got hit by Piplup's Whirlpool, same way as Harley's Wigglytuff was caught in it. It does a serious toll onto Kairi's points.
"And Kairi's points begins to take a huge nose dive into points, and we're at the one minute mark!" Marian announced. Angel kept riding in that Whirlpool until it subsided. Angel lands on the side, injured. "And it looks like it'll take more than a wild water ride to keep this little Eevee down!" Kairi smiled, impresse by Dawn's skills.
"Not too shabby, Dawn. You're really throwing everything you got at me!" Kairi said.
"Thanks, but it's gotta come to an end! Piplup! Use Peck!" Dawn ordered. Piplup rushes at Angel with a Peck.
"Angel! Headbutt!" Kairi ordered. Angel rushes at Piplup with a Headbutt. Both Pokémon collide with each other and landed a hit. The timer ran out.
"And we're out of time! And the winner is..." Marian announced. The screen shows that Dawn has a little more points than Kairi does ."Dawn and Piplup!" The crowd cheered hard as Kairi went up to Angel and helped her up.
"You battled hard, Angel. I' so proud of you," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel weakly said. Kairi walked over to Dawn with a smiled.
"Great job, Dawn," Kairi said.
"Thanks, Kairi. I wasn't even sure if I would beat you for real," Dawn said.
"But you did, Dawn. You gave it everything you had and you didn't give up even once. You have my support in the final battle along with May," Kairi said.
"I'm glad you feel that," Dawn said as she and Kairi shook hands.
"And that's real sportsmanship from both Coordinators! And now, the final match of this year's Lisia Cup will soon be taking place, and be sure to stick around for that!" Marian announced as the crowd cheered.
"Dawn and me in the finals," May said to herself.
"May and me in the finals," Dawn said to herself.
"So! We've been here at Lake Valor for the past three days of never-ending thrill and chills! But now, it's time for what you've all been waiting for: the Lisia Cup stage!" Marian announced.
May and Dawn met up with each other and they both smiled at one another.
"After watching that battle between you and Zoey, I'm feeling a teensy bit queasy. But Piplup and I are so ready to go!" Dawn said.
"I'm ready too. Let's give the audience the best Contest Battle they've ever seen!" May said. "And whoever wins, no hard feelings."
"Right," Dawn agreed. The two Coordinators entered the battlefield for the final round. Speaking of which, it was now underway.
"And the two finalists have made their grand entrance! One this side is Dawn! And on this side is May!" Marian announced. Johanna was watching on TV.
"She looks so ready for this! Look out!" Johanna said.
"May hails from Petalburg City in the Hoenn region! And she has earned the reputation as the runner-up for the Hoenn and Kanto Grand Festivals! And now, we shall hear what Lisia has to say for the exciting battle to come!" Marian announced.
"I must say, both of these Coordinators have come so very far, and I can honestly say I wish they could both win the Lisia Cup without having to battle each other. May, Dawn, I wish you both the best of luck!" Lisia announced.
"Thanks!" May and Dawn both said.
"The time limit for the Lisia Cup final stage is five minutes! Let's go!" Marian announced as the clock starts running. May and Dawn each took out a Pokéball and threw it. Dawn has hers in a Ball Capsule with a Bubble Sticker B as May has hers in a Ball Capsule with Party Sticker B.
"Piplup! Spotlight!" Dawn called out as Piplup came out in bubbles.
"Glaceon! Stake the stage!" May called out as Glaceon came out in blue confetti.
"Piplup! Bubble Beam!" Dawn ordered Piplup fires Bubble Beam at the fresh snow Pokémon while doing a twirl.
"Dodge it and use Secret Power!" May ordered. Glaceon avoids Bubble Beam and came at Piplup with Secret Power. Glaceon lands a hit onto the penguin Pokémon. Piplup stands up and ends up being paralyzed.
"Piplup, no," Dawn squeaked.
"It looks like that Secret Power has Piplup paralyzed!" Marian announced. Dawn has lost some of her points.
"Just relax, Piplup, and you'll be all right," Dawn said.
"Paralyzed? That can't be too good," Xion said.
"Depending on the enviroment, Secret Power can be used to paralyze the opponent," Naminé said.
"Secret Power's no secret," Lea said.
"Ice Shard! Go!" May ordered. Glaceon fires Ice Shard at Piplup as Dawn loses some more points.
"Ice Shard, beautiful! And powerful as well!" Marian announced.
"Quick! In the pool!" Dawn called out. Piplup rolls over to the water. Piplup darts right up in the water.
"And Piplup recovers!" Marian announced.
"And that's how you use a water battlefield!" May praised.
"Okay, Piplup, Whirlpool!" Dawn ordered. Piplup forms Whirlpool above himself.
"And it's another powerful Whirlpool! Piplup's water control is incredible! What a great way to show off!" Marian announced. May has lost some points in the process.
"Nice going!" May complimented her opponent. Piplup threw the whirlpool at the Ice Eeveelution. "But I think it's time to grab some of that power! Mirror Coat!" Glaceon gave off a glimmering glow as it reflects Whirlpool back at Piplup.
"Mirror Coat's reflecting back that Whirlpool! Returning the damage Glaceon took!" Marian announced. It heds right towards Piplup. "Time's two!" Piplup got hit by his own Whirlpool. Piplup tumbles back.
"You okay?" Dawn asked with concern. Piplup gets her answer when he stands back up on his feet. "Bubble Beam! Now!" Piplup fires Bubble Beam right at Glaceon causing some damage.
"And Piplup attacks with a speedy Bubble Beam!" Marian announced as May loses some of her points.
"Shadow Ball!" May ordered. Glaceon forms Shadow Ball right at Piplup.
"Piplup! Spin and dodge!" Dawn called out as Piplup spins around and avoids Shadow Ball.
"Wow, what a beautiful dodge!" May said. But now I'll take that water! Glaceon! Secret Power!" Glaceon came at Piplup with Secret Power.
"Dodge it, quick!" Dawn called out. Glaceon came too fast for Piplup to dodge it.
"Glaceon's so fast, even Piplup can't dodge in time!" Marian annoucned. Dawn lost some points.
"Quick, snap out of it!" Dawn called out. Piplup regains his posture and lands on his feet.
"And Secret Power misses its mark, as a defiant Piplup takes almost zero damge!" Marian announced.
"And that was becuase the effect of Secret Power is somewhat random," Wes said.
"In a puddle of water, its added effect may be sleep, but otherwise, it's like using Tackle," Riku said.
"Alright, try this! Glaceon! Shadow Ball!" May ordered. Glaceon forms Shadow Ball and fand bats it right at Piplup.
"And Glaceon puts everything into that Shadow Ball! What a dynamic display of power!" Marian announced.
"Bubble Beam! Go!" Dawn called out as Pipplup fires Bubble Beam and cuts through Shadow Ball. It lands a hit onto Glaceon, surrounding it. May gasped in shock.
"And that Shadow Ball's neutralized! Plus, the Bubble Beam's got Glaceon trapped!" Marian announced.
"Piplup! Use Peck!" Dawn ordered. Piplup comes at Glaceon with Peck.
"Dodge it and use Ice Shard!" May ordered. Glaceon avoids Piplup's beak to land a hit. Glaceon fires Ice Shard right at Piplup.
"Whirlpool!" Dawn ordered. Piplup uses Whirlpool as a shield to block Ice Shard. May lost some points from that one.
"Wow! Piplup's using Whirlpool as a perfect defense against that Ice Shard!" Marian announced. "We've got equal points by Coordinators, and with just one minute left on the clock!" Sora, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Lea, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, Chase, Elaine, Lucas, Wes, Rui, Michael, Rei, Kanako, Pikachu, Angel, Xipak, Celeste, Eevee, Azurill, Marill, Volt, and Maple were all watching the battle closely. The same went to Lisia.
"Ride that Whirlpool!" Dawn called out. Piplup jumps in the middle of his own Whirlpool.
"And the sight of Piplup fearlessly riding that Whirlpool has left the audience simply breathless!" Marian announced as the audience all cheered.
"Shadow Ball!" May ordered. Glaceon fires Shadow Ball at Piplup.
"Dodge it!" Dawn called out as Piplup jumps out of the way of Shadow Ball, making a splsh. May was shocked to witness it. "Bubble Beam!" Piplup fires Bubble Beam right at Glaceon and lands a series of brutal hits.
"After hiding out in that Whirlpool, Piplp emerges with a power-packed Bubble Beam!" Marian announced. May lost some more points.
"Now, Glaceon! Shadow Ball!" May ordered. Glaceon fires Shadow Ball once again.
"Piplup! Use Peck!" Dawn ordered. Piplup came at Glaceon with Peck. Piplup pecks Shadow Ball and it makes a shadowy curtain.
"Glaceon! Ice Shard!" May ordered. Glaceon fires Ice Shard and it struck Piplup hard.
"And May answers back with a terrific Ice Shard!" Marian annoucned as Dawn has lost some more points.
"Great, May, nice work!" Dawn said.
"Back at you, Dawn!" May said.
"Tiny little attacks aren't going to work against May. The same can be said about Kairi if she was there instead of her. So in that case," Dawn said in her thoughts.
"There isnt much time left. I know Dawn's coming in with a big attack," May said in her thoughts.
"Let's decide this now! Piplup! Whirlpool! Go!" Dawn ordered. Piplup forms Whirlpool above himself and hurls it at Glaceon.
"Aha! Use Mirror Coat!" May ordered. Glaceon came in with Mirror Coat and held its own against Piplup's Whirlpool. Both Pokémon got hit by the water attack. The time has run out.
"That's it! Time's up!" Marian announced. Everyone was wat awe for the battle that had happened. "That was a perfect final stage! A tough-as-nails battle! Heated and beautiful as well! You all know winner takes all. So, without further ado, the winning Coordinator is..." The screen shows that Dawn has a little more than May. "Dawn, with her Piplup!" Dawn was awestruck to see that she has won her third ribbon and she only needed two more to enter the Grand Festival. Lucas was proud of his crush for winning the Wallace Cup. Sora, Kairi, and Lisia applauded along the crowd for both of their friends.
"Dawn, May, way to go," Kairi said proudly.
"Congratulations, Dawn," May said.
"And now! It's time for Lisia to say a few words our big winner, Dawn!" Marian announced.
"Dawn, you and your Pokémon have dazzled and sparkled in ways I couldn't even imagine. And so, I will present you with your own Lisia Cup and the Aqua Ribbon as proof of your victory," Lisia said, giving Dawn the cup and her newest Contest Ribbon.
"Thank you, Lisia," Dawn said.
"No, Dawn. Thank you," Lisia said, smiling.
"And we draw this year's Lisia Cup to a close, and it has been my honor and privilege to be hosting this amazing event! This is Marian and I close by saying to all you Contest fans out there see you all again next year!" Marian announced.
It was shortly after the Lisia Cup has ended as Dawn now has two Contest Ribbons.
"I've done it. I got my second Ribbon and I'm getting closer than ever to make it to the Grand Festival!" Dawn said.
"That means you just need three more to get there, Dawn," Leaf said.
"That's right. Dawn is back and here to stay!" Dawn said.
"And that's the Dawn we all know and love!" Kris said.
"You deserved to win it, Dawn. The way you battled is proof enough," Kairi said.
"And she'll be right," Lisia said, walking up in her regular clothes. "You've shown so much potential as a Pokémon Coordinator, and you shined even brighter than any jewel. You've got it."
"That's very nice of you, Lisia. I appreciate it," Dawn said.
"So, now what, Lisia? You'll be heading back to Hoenn, aren't you?" Lyra asked.
"I am. My duties as Contest Idol doesn't give me the time I had when I was traveling with you. The upside of coming here in Sinnoh is the fact I got to see my friends here. Both old and new," Lisia said, making the group smile.
"Well, we're gonna wish you luck back in Hoenn," Roxas said.
"Thank you. And I'll be wishing you luck on your own journey. The other Guardians of Kingdom Hearts are somewhere in the world, aren't they?" Lisia asked.
"You know it, Lisia," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"It was great seeing you, Lisia," Brendan said.
"And we hope we can see you again someday," May said.
"So do I, everyone," Lisia said. "Since the Lisia Cup is over and done with, you're heading for Pastoria City, aren't you?"
"Yeah. Lucas, Roxas, and I have our Gym battles," Sora said.
"And Kairi still has one more Ribbon to win," Ash said.
"Not only that, we still have to keep an eye out for Count Ernesh's forces just in case they show up again," Lea said.
"Speaking of which, where's Kanako?" Roxas asked.
"She's off with the master to speak with Ben about being his apprentice. I wished her the best," Riku said.
"When you see Ben, would you give him my regards?" Lisia asked.
"Sure. And we'll do the same thing for Blake," May said as Lisia smiled warmly at the mention of Blake.
"Okay. Well, I should be going. Don't be strangers now!" Lisia said.
"Bye!" Sora, Kairi, Riku, Naminé, Roxas, Lea, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, Brendan, May, Chase, Elaine, Lucas, Dawn, Wes, Rui, and Michael said as they waved goodbye to Lisia. She waved back to her friends, knowing she was going to see them again one day. And with the Lisia Cup behind them, the journey continues as they now head for Pastoria City, and some more adventures coming to them very soon.
