Quick Shock
Gohan, Krillin, and Yamcha stood dumbfounded, trying to process the bizarre revelation laid before them. Dende, however, was grinning.
"Are you sure about that?" Krillin asked, frowning. "I mean, I don't think I have any hidden powers."
Yamcha nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Krillin. Same here. It feels like we've hit our biological limit. But..." He glanced at Gohan, trailing off.
Krillin's eyes widened, and his mouth hung open. "Wait... Gohan?"
The young Saiyan blinked, realizing everyone was now staring at him. He blushed, rubbing the back of his head nervously. "Oh, come on, guys. I'm just a kid! You can't seriously think I'm your best shot, right?" He chuckled, trying to deflect.
Krillin smirked. "Cut it out, Gohan. You know as well as we do."
Gohan laughed, a bit more nervously this time. "Okay, sure, I have some potential... but you guys have the experience! Wouldn't it make more sense to unlock your powers instead of mine?"
Dende, lost in thought, stroked his chin. *From what I can sense, Gohan really does have the most hidden power... but...* His gaze shifted uncertainly to Yamcha.
Yamcha broke the silence. "Alright, enough wasting time. Let's get this done, Dende."
Dende snapped out of his thoughts and nodded. "Right."
The four warriors crouched, their auras flaring as they prepared to move.
"You're not going anywhere!"
The sharp voice cut through the air, freezing them in place. All eyes turned toward the shadows, and their jaws dropped in shock.
"But... h-how?" Krillin stammered, his voice trembling. "Vegeta killed you!"
Out from the shadows stepped a lean, purple-skinned alien, battered and bruised but very much alive. He chuckled darkly, his eyes gleaming with menace. "He thought he did."
Gohan took a step back, panic rising in his chest. "G-guys... are you sensing what I'm sensing?!"
Cui flexed his muscles, grinning wickedly. "Hey," he called out to Dende, eyes gleaming with malice. "Jump on my back and show me the way. I'll have my hidden powers unlocked instead of these fools."
Dende took a step back, fear flashing in his eyes.
Cui chuckled darkly. "Come on, slug boy. There's plenty of slimy food waiting for you across the galaxy. All you have to do is cooperate."
Yamcha growled, stepping forward. "You're not calling the shots here!"
Krillin shot Yamcha an incredulous look. "Are you insane? This guy's as strong as Vegeta was when he first came to Earth! We don't stand a chance!"
Cui laughed, folding his arms smugly. "Impressive. Your knowledge of intergalactic affairs is commendable."
His mind flashed back to when he faked his death, slipping away while Vegeta was distracted by Zarbon. After hiding in this remote spot, Cui stumbled upon the beans buried in the soil that healed his injuries. Now, here he was, rejuvenated and ready to claim more power.
"I really should thank you lot," Cui sneered. "Because of you, I not only healed but found a way to unlock my hidden powers. How about this—join my regiment, and I might spare you."
Krillin tensed, still on edge. "You're serious? You think we'd be useful to you?"
"No, you idiots," Cui said with a sneer. "I just need some bootlickers to serve me! Hahaha!"
Gohan clenched his fists. This guy was beyond cocky.
In an instant, Cui vanished from sight. Gohan, Krillin, and Yamcha immediately dropped into fighting stances, eyes darting around.
But Cui reappeared in front of Dende. "So, how about it? Ready to come along?"
Dende trembled, unable to form words.
Cui's laughter echoed. "Oh, come on! You Namekians really are a bunch of cowards!"
"YAH!" Dende, eyes squeezed shut, fired a blast at point-blank range.
The energy struck Cui, but he barely flinched. His brow twitched in annoyance. "You insolent little—!"
Cui retaliated, sending a blast straight at Dende. "Take this!"
"NO!" Gohan, Krillin, and Yamcha shouted in unison.
Dende screamed as he was hurled backward, crashing into the ground, burns searing across his body.
Gohan rushed to his side. "Dende! Say something!"
Dende coughed, blood trickling from his mouth. "It... it really hurts." Though battered, the little Namekian was still alive.
Cui facepalmed. "Ugh, my impulsiveness... I almost killed him!"
"You monster!" Krillin shouted, fury boiling over.
Yamcha, keeping his eyes on Cui, whispered to Krillin. "Look closer. This guy's putting up a front."
Krillin frowned. "What are you talking about?"
"Vegeta messed him up more than we thought. He's weakened, far from his best," Yamcha explained. "That's why he jumped us before we could leave—he's scared he won't be able to keep up."
Krillin squinted, focusing his senses. "Yeah... you're right. But I still don't think it's enough of a difference."
Gohan, clenching his fists, stepped forward, his aura flaring to life. "You bastard!" he roared, his energy rising as his stance widened.
Krillin and Yamcha immediately jumped to his side, their auras igniting as well.
Cui snarled, veins bulging in his forehead. "So, you brats wanna fight? BRING IT ON! I'LL TEAR YOU APART!"
But as he yelled, Krillin suddenly froze, his aura fading. "Wait... no way. It's Vegeta!"
"What?!" Cui whipped his head around in shock.
That split-second distraction was all Krillin needed. He shot into the air, cupping his hands behind his waist. "Kame... hame... HA!"
Too late, Cui realized the ruse. Krillin's energy blast exploded against him, sending him stumbling.
"Now!" Krillin shouted. "Hit him while he's down!"
Gohan and Yamcha didn't hesitate. "HAAAA!" They dashed forward, launching a flurry of punches and kicks at Cui.
Cui, still reeling from Krillin's blast, managed to block and dodge, but not without difficulty. "Take this!" he yelled, landing a brutal punch to Gohan's face, sending him flying.
He grabbed Yamcha's leg mid-kick, twisting him into the air. "Let go!" Yamcha shouted, struggling in vain.
Cui began to spin, whirling Yamcha around with blinding speed, kicking up a whirlwind around them. Then, with a sharp release, he hurled Yamcha straight toward Krillin.
"Yikes!" Krillin panicked, barely throwing his Destructo Disc into the air before Yamcha crashed into him.
Cui snickered, but his smug expression was quickly wiped off as a sharp force collided with his back.
"Ungh!" he groaned, stumbling forward.
Gohan, bloodied but determined, had slammed his fist into the weak spot where Vegeta had damaged Cui's armor. His energy flared wildly. "Masenko—HA!"
Cui screamed as the beam struck, blasting him through several trees before smashing him into a rock formation. The impact exploded with a deafening *KADOOM!*, sending shockwaves across the area.
A massive cloud of smoke billowed up as the dust settled. Krillin and Yamcha coughed, trying to catch their breath amidst the chaos.
"Wow, Gohan," Krillin said, peeking through the smoke. "You did it."
Meanwhile, in one of the dark corners of Frieza's ship, cries of torment rang out through the air...
"Aaaargh!"
Yajirobe's scream echoed through the dimly lit chamber as Dodoria shoved his face beneath the murky water once more. He thrashed wildly, his arms flailing in a desperate bid for freedom, but Dodoria's grip was ironclad, unyielding. Water filled Yajirobe's nose and throat, the sensation of drowning tightening its icy grip on him. Darkness crept into the corners of his vision, and just as he felt himself slipping into unconsciousness, Dodoria yanked his head out of the water.
Coughing and gasping, Yajirobe wheezed, his chest heaving as air rushed back into his lungs.
"So," Dodoria's voice was a low growl, dripping with menace. "How did Vegeta get the Syanide?"
Tears streamed down Yajirobe's face. "I-I swear, I don't know! How many times do I have to tell you?!"
*SMACK!* Dodoria's massive hand slapped across his face, sending him sprawling onto the cold, hard ground.
Yajirobe, trembling, slowly pushed himself up onto his hands and knees, coughing violently, spit and blood dripping from his mouth. He could barely think past the pain. Every part of him screamed to give up, to let go. Death would be a mercy compared to the torment Dodoria was putting him through. But they wouldn't let him die—not yet.
Dodoria took slow, deliberate steps toward him, each footfall heavy with malice. "Let's see if this loosens your tongue."
The brute reached for a steel rod lying on a nearby shelf, its handle wrapped in plastic, a series of buttons along its side. Dodoria pressed one of them, and the rod glowed a sickening red as it heated up, the air around it shimmering from the heat.
"Eat this."
Yajirobe's scream tore through the air as the red-hot rod slammed into his shoulder. His flesh sizzled on contact, the unbearable heat searing his skin. "Aaargh! Stop! Please! No more!"
But Dodoria's sadistic laughter echoed through the room, drowning out Yajirobe's pleas. He struck him again, and again, each blow sending waves of agony coursing through Yajirobe's battered body.
"Hahaha! How's that, you worthless pig?!" Dodoria taunted, eyes gleaming with twisted satisfaction as he continued to mercilessly pummel Yajirobe with the burning iron. The stench of scorched flesh filled the room, mingling with the echoes of Yajirobe's tortured screams.
Far away, oblivious to the perils faced by their friends...
Goku, Chichi, and the Ox-King sat together around the dining table, the warm scent of homemade food filling the room.
"This soup's amazing, Chichi!" Goku said, his face lighting up with genuine delight.
Chichi smiled, her heart swelling at the compliment.
The Ox-King chuckled. "It's an old recipe from her mother. You should thank me for passing it down."
After they finished eating, Goku stepped outside, taking in the peaceful evening. His eyes fell on Tien, standing silently beneath a nearby tree, arms crossed, eyes shut tight as if lost in thought.
"Hey," Goku called out as he walked over, placing a hand on Tien's shoulder. "Don't beat yourself up about it, Tien."
But Tien shrugged off Goku's hand, a low growl escaping his lips. "Don't patronize me like that."
Goku blinked, taken aback by the sudden outburst. "Huh?"
A moment later, Tien sighed, his expression softening. "Sorry."
Goku's smile faded, replaced by a more serious look as he studied his friend. "What's going on with you? You know you've gotten stronger. Why are you so hung up on this?"
Clenching his fists, Tien shut his eyes, frustration boiling beneath the surface. "It's not enough. I'm still nothing compared to you!"
Goku's brow furrowed, recalling their sparring session earlier that afternoon. Both had pushed themselves to the limit, testing the fruits of their training in the hyperbolic time chamber. As usual, Tien had fallen short, unable to match Goku's overwhelming power.
"Listen," Goku said firmly, his tone gentle but steady. "It's not just about raw power. If that were all that mattered, none of us would've beaten Vegeta back then."
Tien stared ahead, his jaw clenched, trying to absorb Goku's words.
"And you've got the skills, Tien," Goku continued, his voice full of conviction. "That's why it doesn't matter if you're not as strong as me. You're still a valuable ally to all of us. Always will be, God willing.'
For a moment, the air between them was thick with unspoken feelings. Tien exhaled slowly, letting the tension in his shoulders ease. He wasn't sure if Goku's words were enough to silence the doubts in his heart, but they gave him something to hold on to.
Back on Planet Namek...
Gohan watched the thick cloud of smoke with gritted teeth, every muscle tense. He waited, eyes sharp, for any sign of movement as the smoke slowly began to clear.
As the dust settled, the destruction became evident. The rock formation where Cui had crashed was nothing but rubble, shattered into countless fragments. And there, at the center of the devastation, the outline of Cui's battered form could be made out in the haze.
"Nooo!" Cui's voice cracked with desperation. "How could you do this to me?!"
To be continued...
Do Gohan, Yamcha and Krillin have it in them to put an end to the malicious Cui? And can Yajirobe hang on long enough for help to get to him? Find out in the next exciting chapter of DBZ One!
