Waking up he tried moving only to find himself inside a cramped cage. Scanning his surroundings, he found himself in some kind of laboratory. "Subject has finally woken up", said an unknown voice.
Looking to his left he found the source of the talking. There appeared a man who had blackish grey hair and he appeared to be in his early fifties, obviously a scientist from the lab coat he was wearing.
"What's going on"?
"I personally would like to welcome you to the Brain's lab", the man said in a mocking tone.
"Brain's lab"?
He was interrupted by a robotic voice. "Yes, Beast Boy your suffering has not ended in fact it has only begun".
The changeling glared at the machine. "And why are you targeting me? Is it because I played a big part in giving you a brain freeze"?
"Amusing". The Brain replied not caring about the terrible joke. "Revenge is the reason but it's not just you I plan it for".
"Really, because it seems I've been getting the most of it".
"I plan to destroy all the Titans; I just turned them against you because I knew it would be easy".
"How did you know they'd to that"?
"The Titans security was tricky, but no match for me. From what I gathered; this wasn't the first time they suspected the worst from you".
Beast Boy growled at him.
Brain's assistant continued. "When something like Raven losing control of Rage happens, they're just give told to give her some space. When Starfire attacks the city, it was because she was terrified. When Robin becomes Slade's apprentice, you refuse to give up on him. When you become the Beast, they're quick to assume the worst. Did they even apologize after your name was cleared, especially Robin who had a similar experience during his Slade hallucinations before the event? Why did he get sympathy and not you when your behavior became unusual"?
Beast Boy thought of it. He shook his head. "Your mind games won't work on me"!
The assistant rolled his eyes. "Pushover".
(2 weeks later)
The changeling looked a lot different that when he was first captured. He was scrawnier due to barely getting fed in the last 2 weeks. They did feed him every day, just not enough.
Brain was absent right now leaving only Beast Boy and the henchman. "I got a question for you, ever hear of alternate worlds", asked the henchman. To Beast Boy it sounded like something from science fiction.
"Would you like to know my name"? Again silence. "My name is Ernst. You already met my counterpart. I believe you call him the Brain".
Beast Boy was taken aback by this. He looked nothing like the Brain. "Sorry if I don't believe you, the one I know is an organ in a fishbowl", he quipped.
"Not everyone looks exactly the same as their counterpart and since you already have a Brain here just call me by my proper name. Anyway, I was tinkering in my lab one day when I opened a portal bringing me to this world. It was part of my research, but I was perhaps a bit too successful. I've been trapped here for the last four years. I got to say my counterpart, I pity him after all I don't know the horror of dealing with bratty kids, thankfully".
Beast Boy had a hard time figuring out something. "Why are you telling me this"?
He smirked. "Because I'm going to use you to test my invention". Once I know the inventions safe, I'll use it on myself, after I deal with that idiotic machine version of me", he finished.
Opening Beast Boy's cage, the changeling attempted to fight back but was too weak to even fight in his current form. Dragging him to a rack he had him strapped down as he looked at the big giant ray before him. "With this teleportation device I can send you to any place, dimension or universe of my choosing. That idiot skull in a jar thinks it's a nuclear weapon for the world. And don't worry about him when I obliterate that idiot, I'll be sure to do so in your honor after what he put you through".
Despite the fact that Brain framed Beast Boy was still against killing. The process began with the ray lighting up. Suddenly Beast Boy was gone. Checking the results, the evil genius was pleased. "SUCCESS"! Suddenly, the teleportation ray started breaking apart. "NO! I can't believe this it took me forever to put together this piece of crap! And I lost all the money I had to make this thing. Looks like I'll have to work with myself a bit longer".
In an alternate world, in an alternate Gotham City, a vortex appeared throwing out Beast Boy. Managing to gain his surroundings he was in some alleyway. Attempting to get up the boy was still too weak from the experiments used on him and collapsed. Not far from him on the roofs was a man, the Batman. He is out on patrol looking to beat the crap out of any criminal he comes across. He already stopped 2 petty thefts and left a murderer for the cops after breaking his legs.
A voice spoke through the suit. "Master Bruce I'm getting a strange reading from the batcomputer. It seems to be picked up some unusual energy.
"I see. Can you send me a location"?
"Yes, sir it's actually not that far from your current whereabout I'm sending you the coordinates now although I must add that it was there mightn't be anything left", the butler explained on the line said.
"Let me worry about that". When Batman got there, he couldn't find any energy, but he found something or someone. A green person, seemingly green all over the body, green hair and pointed ears. "Al", he stated which was short for Alfred. "It's gone but it seems to have left behind a present" explained the vigilante. The green thing opened its eyes and looked up to see some figure he couldn't quite make out it quickly fell back into unconsciousness. Bruce saw enough "Alfred I'm taking this thing back to the Batcave" he stated. Taking the green thing in his arms he took him to the Batmobile.
Placing him in the passenger seat he drove back to Wayne Manor. When he got to the Batcave Alfred was sitting in front of the batcomputer as the Batmobile drove into it and out came Batman himself carrying the green guy in his arms. "My word, when you said thing, I wasn't expecting that".
The butler took a closer look. "Is it some kind of elf", he asked due to the pointed ears. Bruce removed the cowl showing his face. "I don't know what it… he is but I'm going to find out", Bruce answered.
Running different tests for over 90 minutes, Bruce came to a conclusion once finished. "I don't know what to say. I ran all different kinds of tests; it seems he's human or was once human but his DNA, it's different".
Alfred thought for a second. "Perhaps that explains his current appearance".
Bruce nodded agreeing with the butler. "His health is not exactly the best; it seems he hasn't eaten properly in a while".
"I'll get some food prepared", Alfred said before heading upstairs. Beast Boy himself was taken upstairs and put in one of the guest bedrooms.
After a while he slowly began to wake up. "Huh" looking around he found himself in a huge room with himself lying in a big and comfy bed. "Yeesh, first I get kicked off the team, then I get captured by two Brains and now I'm in the most comfortable bed in history".
Suddenly the door opened revealing an elderly man with white hair along with glasses. "Awake I see", he placed down the tray. It had baby carrots, lettuce and beef. Beast Boy flinched.
"Do you not like this kind of food? I can make you something else".
The shapeshifter was quick to assure him. "It's not that, I don't eat meat, I'm a vegan". The man nodded. "I'll have it removed immediately sir". The meat was gone leaving only the vegetables. He was happy to be eating a proper meal again. After he was finished the butler asked him to follow.
He was led to the living room, there looking at him was a guy that looked like Bruce Wayne. Bruce himself felt he had 2 options, on his left get right to the point. On his right, play it cool. He chose the right option.
"Welcome to Wayne Manor, my name is Bruce Wayne, you heard of me? Of course, you have who hasn't". He chuckled at his own joke. Beast certainly wasn't expecting this when he woke up.
"I was rescued by Bruce Wayne? Awesome"!
"You were found in a dark alley, you obviously weren't eating much when I found you, what happened"?
The shapeshifter remembered what happened, how he ended up here, or this world to be more precise. "I can't remember" he lied. Bruce could tell that himself, from his features he gave, it seemed to be an uncomfortable topic.
"Listen you're green, there's probably a hundred conspiracies from where you're from. I doubt many would have helped you like I did. I can see your past is an unhappy one whether it's recent or long ago. But if you want me to trust you, then you need to trust me".
Alfred gave Bruce an unamused look at the way this was turning. "You only met him. Let him rest".
Beast considered what Bruce was telling him. "It's not a believable story", he reasoned.
"I'll decide if it's unbelievable".
Sighing, Beast went into full detail as he talked about his past, his parents, how he got his powers, life with the Doom Patrol, life with the Titans, his adventures, how he was framed and how he ended up here. It took 2 hours for him to finish and that was because he gave the short version.
"I believe you", Bruce assured.
"You do"? Beast was shock, Bruce nodded. The billionaire focused on his facial expressions as he gave the story. Excitement, happiness, sadness, betrayal. But no hint of lying. And he was a hero who fought for justice.
"Thank you, say do you like movies"? Alfred took Beast Boy to the private theatre in the manor before he returned. "That should keep him entertained for the next few hours. He seems like a nice enough fellow; certainly, better than the company you have at night", quipped the butler.
"Do you believe him Alfred"?
"Certainly sir, I don't know if he was honest about everything but the look he gave as he described the loss of his parents, I saw that somewhere before".
"He said he fought crime before".
Alfred shook his head knowing where Bruce was going with this. "You only known him less than a day and you already want to involve him in your war against crime".
"I might as well, it's likely he'll find out sooner or later and want to get involved anyway".
The butler shook his head. "Even if that is true, you heard what he went through, and he's barely eaten, we'd be better not to get him involved".
"And what do we do with him Alfred? We can't exactly drop him a green teenager with superpowers at the orphanage".
"I'm not saying we get rid of him, only that we let him be a normal boy, well, as normal as being green and being able to turn into animals can get you".
Bruce again felt he had two options, get Beast Boy involved or not? "You're right Alfred, the kid's been through enough".
The butler nodded. "He will likely find out about Batman sooner or later, but let's leave it until later".
