Chapter 10: Their Damnable Ancestry
/
This is a mouthful, yet I'm feeling a bit gory. Enjoy!
/
~ I could arrange a casting; my books are numerous with my lordship knowledge – though without unil'st later…ye might of two persons, walking about those halls.~
John looked to Adam as Adam did for Ignito a question from his lips. "Pray tell, a spell? What of that? Is it risky, does it –
~ Too many questions. You exude little confidence…~ Hissed the daemon discouragingly slowly. "He only meant to ask if two spells in one is going to fucking benefit us at all, mate." John snorted back with a toss of his head Ignito's way. "Don't you have somewhere else to be –
~ Ah, which is why this spell works on creatures like yourself, Constantine.~ Sighed the daemon with a chuckle. ~ I am. Raku's little devil on his shoulder has no power. Here, I have split my being to appear as I told ye. Appear as a boy and a man within this facility. That should solve any dilemma of the duel you want to show off in. Might I just add also, if you do this too soon, your powers will be halved slightly. Only a short while…? ~
"Give or take, how long are we talking, then?"
~ One measly hour could suffice?~ The spirit said innocently. ~ Raku, my lord would not mind. He rather enjoys knowing you are close enough. Maybe, too close.~ Pondered the aspect carefully, under its breath.

Trudging down halls, Raku's stamina was drained enough to have him lean against a wall outside. Panting, it brought back memories of the Northern Isles Academy, where he'dlost many for the sake of protecting his power. The high arches above hung as tree boughs…he truly missed Aiden and the leisure before, this. What was this? Was John making…
"He isn't unkind. The sprog of a teenager seems to enjoy your company. You never told me he was family?"
Amber smiled round the corner as she grinned, her green and blue eyes shirt, freckles wrinkles as her ears of a faire one ticked up and down, playfully.
"Found you!"
/
"That child, Amber?"
Adam, their only eye in the sky besides Zee, nodded as John leaned into his seat in the office. "You were called in on purpose. Why?"
"I sensed about her something, off. She, her scent was not as a vase of roses at all, let alone gym socks and tennis sneakers." Huffed the blonde magi. "Zee tells me she transferred around the same time as Marcus?"
"She was taken in. Magic is in her very bones. Poor girl was taken in by protective services only a month ago. Her mother was killed, father no place left….nowhere to be found in the country. She had a trauma around violence and blood, said it made her unstable with her powers until we got ahold."
"When was that?"
"Are you talking about that boy, Michael? He enrolled a week after. They were thick as thieves. You don't think -
"I do." John paced in his thoughts a bit. "Zee is seeing to keeping tabs on my protégé while you house these friends of his." John ran a hand through his hair as he felt too old in mind rather than in his frame. Or frame of thinking, being near ancient.
"Ignito bloody threatened me if anything happens to that boy. You'd be in on it to not to tick off that "all knowing" aspect. It knows far too easily even my deepest parts, and it warned me to open my eyes and ears to any signs of a struggle."
"That…" Adam leaned over, anxious over the mere mention of it. The little guardian angel bustard that would poltergeist the classroom if Raku were teased at all.
"It's attached to his immortality. His humanity is It's muse. How did he come t –
"Shush it…" John shoved a finger to his own lips. "Ignito is the manifestation of Raku's former selves or future self, as well as his father. A time lord and record keeper in a land far, far away in the bloody past. Dune capital."
"Dune, dune….Arabia??"
"No, it's not that, think old... You know he can sense the other, side… and manifest. Gaining control was the easy part. Harnessing its potential will be a true task at hand. Controlling vast energies around him? That ability was what he has thanks to his birth parents. There was also some whack brained but very true, idea, that his mother had a branch of Storytellers or Archivists of a cult – magic men and women, in her family tree that spanned back to an alternative Solomon or even King Hammurabi's line."
"Well, you don't say? How did you come to that conclusion?"
"A series of books, Adam. The same mythological joyride of a delusional fairytale that boy hails from, the myth he accidentally created controls the outcome of this plane through some "minor tampering" in the past. On another plane of existence, this one was given a jumpstart by his hands molding it. Turns out, it wasn't really all up to him. His father had one enemy, the succubus maiden Lilu, and she did her worst by corrupting that boy that you saw before you."
"He looked as if he'd overcome abuse. I know you were only stepping in, John." Adam sighed.
"Raku only became a free man when Aiden pushed him to face his oppressors. How he's finding this all, is why he's with me now. And if you don't believe me, the world was reborn by the power Raku has vurrebtky through a bond with a being known as an Ethreal. They worked together and his godly self…it is nearly only heard through telepathy. That it doesn't have a name, yet Ignito somehow groomed its awakening… like a Phoenix. I was there. It was not your average end of the world... It's why Ignito is…trying to recreate Raku to be more than just a petty god someday, and I honestly know the boy detests having that much responsibility. He just can't say no –
"Will Ignito…get angry if we talk right now about them?" Adam's eyes stayed locked onto John's.
"Not that I know. He is grounded to my consciousness to pester me, but I bet he'd go on after Raku if the lad went too far off campus." John shrugged.
"The contract isn't advanced enough as it was with Aiden, but he's testing it. I can tell. Raku's father was a former deity of creation in a past life and a Djinn Lord there, until he expired a bit too soon by his corrupted spirit. In his world he recorded all of time and Raku was meant to inherit his rites when he cane unto his own. The book Raku uses in his art is called the Tome of Manifesto. It is a portion of the manifestation art from the deity Azag descended from. A Sumerian myth."
Adam bobbed his head. "Do tell, so that boy is walking around…"
"I have to get dirt as much as possible on his two school mates. Put me in as a student and we'll work things out."
"I can do you one better, John." Adam smiled as John cocked one blonde brow up.
"How, would you like to become our substitute professor of Occultic research?"
Oh, Adam was a good man. Grabbing the man's hand to shake, Ignito appeared on a cloud of smoke. ~ What of this, Jack? He is wanted out in the courtyard…for a duel.~
John's hand fell back to his side as he swayed back his neck into his seat and groaned. "Forgot all about that, mate Thank you, mum, for remembering it bloody for me...…" Grumbled the magi as Ignito glared at Adam while he was still tangible.
"Are….are we interrupting your rest?" Adam's nervous laugh had Ignito grin with a small chuckle, teeth as sharp as a wolf's.
~ Nay, young minds here need this sort of, executed structure. I'd hate to think this solicitation might become a problem for your staff. I however, have a small suggestion?~
