Chapter Forty-One: Simon's Worldwide Message
It was the very next morning in the Powerpuff Household. The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog were seen at the kitchen table uttering a prayer with Blossom leading it. The heroes all held hands as they simply prayed for not only their lives but the world's safety and especially the safety of the prisoners that were imprisoned by Simon Bar Sinister and his Angels.
"Father, in the name of Jesus we pray." Blossom said at the end of the prayer.
"Amen." All four heroes said in unison.
Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, and Underdog all began to dig into the breakfast that Bubbles prepared for all of the heroes. They all had the exact same dish on their plates: Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, butter grits, cereal, and orange juice. Underdog mmmed at the taste of the food that Bubbles cooked, giving a thumbs up to her as he enjoyed her cooking. The meal otherwise was eaten without a single word shared between the heroes. The only sounds emitted were the faint sounds of silverware being clinked and clanked on the plates and the crunch of the cereal upon the first bite. The somber mood in the household was very evident as the heroes knew they couldn't do anything at the current moment to save the world.
The Powerpuff Girls and Underdog ate their breakfast for several minutes before they all grabbed their soiled dishes and walked over to the dishwasher to put the dishes in. The dishwasher was getting full, so Buttercup put a dishwasher pod into the dishwasher and turned it on to let the dishes wash. The heroes then walked over to the TV, still very silent towards one another. Buttercup grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, and immediately the sight of Stanley Whitfield was shown. He was live and with tears visibly steaming down his face.
"People of Townsville…." Stanley got out as he was visibly shaken up, taking deep breaths to try to compose himself. "….Everyone knows the story by now, but it is still my duty as a news anchor to deliver the news to you no matter how dire the situation. Our Powerpuff Girls, as well as their heroic canine ally, Underdog, have failed to stop the evil Simon Bar Sinister and his three evil female allies, Sedusa, Femme Fatale, and Mask Scara. And unfortunately, our heroes have died in battle. They have failed us all. All of us here in Townsville, all of you in Underdog's Capitol City, and the billions of people that call this small rocky planet home."
"Oh, fuck you, Stanley." Buttercup angrily said, breaking up the eerie silence between the heroes.
"And now, with no one on Earth to save us all, we now await the day that Simon and his three Angels, as he calls them, unleash the inevitable doom we will all be subject to." Stanley continued. "So if there is anything at all that you wish to check off your bucket list, best to do so during these last few days the planet is the way it is currently – free and beautiful. Because there is no telling…." Stanley got out before something happened.
The TV screen suddenly went black during Stanley's newscast with some white noise and static sounds being heard as well. It was not only on the TV of the Powerpuff Girls, but it was on every single channel on every single station feed in the entire world. It broke through local and national feeds and even got through live streaming feeds. It was even powerful enough to break through the most secure of feeds, billions of people worldwide witnessing the events. It also broke through radio feeds all across the world, all the way from normal AM/FM radio feeds to satellite and internet radio feeds, reaching those who weren't watching the TV presentation. It also broke through all different internet avenues, the presentation having engulfed the entire internet. The black screen on TVs, smartphones, computer monitors, digital billboards, and the like all across the world was visible for only a moment or two before something else finally popped up.
"The following announcement has been paid for by the Simon Says Syndicate." A voice on the TV said with those exact words being shown on the screen.
After a second or two, Simon Bar Sinister himself was shown on the screen with an evil grin on his face.
"Hello World. This is your planet's future dictator, Simon Bar Sinister, giving you all a message that is imperative that you all hear." Simon said on the screen.
The girls and Underdog all gasped in shock as they all watched, and scenes from all over the world could be seen with people watching the message on TV screens, computer monitors, and mobile devices across the world and hearing the message on radio feeds across the world. It was all portrayed as a propaganda-style message with evil laughs ringing in the background as well as the words "You Will Obey" and "You Will Do What Simon Says" being shown and echoed every now and then throughout the message.
"You are all witnesses to the greatest turning point in the history of your planet. Treasure these moments as if they were your last." Simon said. "Because in only a few short days from now, I, Simon Bar Sinister, with the assistance of my lovely, sexy Angels, Sedusa, Femme Fatale, and Mask Scara, will be ruling all of Earth, every nook and cranny of it. For years we have dreamed of changing things to the way we want them to be! Our ideas for right and wrong shall be law! We will make the decisions! We will control! We will dictate! We are the deciders!"
Sedusa, Femme Fatale, and Mask Scara all appeared on screen, the three women touching Simon affectionately and giving winks to the camera as well, Simon only grinning at being the center of attention from his Angels.
"You can get on your fucking knees…." Sedusa got out.
"….And pray to whatever fucking higher power…." Femme Fatale got out.
"….You wish. But all of your fucking prayers will go unanswered like the phone calls from telemarketers that want to sell you Viagra." Mask Scara finished as the four villains all let out laughter at one of her puns.
"No one can save you. No one will save you. You will all be the property of the Simon Says Syndicate." Simon then mentioned. "We are accepting any and all applications to join the Syndicate. Instructions on how to apply will be given 24 hours before the world takeover. No one living or breathing on this planet today will be turned down. Whether you like it or not, you WILL obey! You WILL do what Simon says! Or you will suffer the most dire of consequences, up to and including your timely death!"
Simon hummed the Underdog theme song briefly while Sedusa, Femme Fatale, and Mask Scara hummed the Powerpuff Girls theme song briefly, all four villains laughing as they mocked the fallen heroes.
"Awww, were you all looking for a hero to stop us?" Sedusa said with a wink.
"Well, too bad! Toooooooo bad!" Femme Fatale added.
"You can all stop, collaborate, and listen to your future dictator, the wicked Simon Bar Sinister." Mask Scara said.
"If you join the Syndicate, you will have everything you could ever want. Freedom. Power. Immortality. And no one can tell you what to do but me and my Angels." Simon mentioned. "I don't give a shit if you're a so-called world leader, a world-famous celebrity, a billionaire, some average fucking Joe or Jane, or a piss fucking poor homeless shitbag. There is room for you in the Simon Says Syndicate. You WILL obey! You WILL do what Simon says! Because I am the man! I am the master! And the ruler! Of the world!"
Simon and his Angels all let out long evil laughs with the three villainesses blowing kisses towards the screen, Simon giving another wink to the camera before the video ended.
"The preceding announcement has been paid for by the Simon Says Syndicate. You will obey. You will do what Simon says." The same voice from the beginning said with those same exact words being shown on the screen.
The entire world's TV, internet, and radio feeds all went back to regular programming, billions on Earth trying to soak in everything that was said. News stations all over the world immediately came back on the air to report on everything that just happened. They replayed the message in its entirety with anchors just trying their best to relay and analyze the information to the billions of people worldwide. The video was translated into many different languages by interpreters worldwide so that non-English speakers can get the news in their language.
Social media was exploding with the news all over platforms such as X/Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, and the like being bombarded with trends like "Simon Bar Sinister", "Simon Says Syndicate", "Goodbye World", "You Will Obey", "You Will Do What Simon Says", and the like. Hashtags such as #YouWillObey, #YouWillDoWhatSimonSays, #TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt, and the like were also showing up. Videos were being played all over social media with families all saying goodbye to one another and goodbye to the world, some in prayer just to find some semblance of hope that the world takeover can be prevented.
But among those trends and hashtags that sounded like the acceptance of reality, some more defiant trends like "We Will Not Obey", "Fuck What Simon Says", "Simon Sucks", and the like were also showing up. LeBron James even got the hashtags #SimonCanEatADick and #GoFuckYourselfSimon trending heavily with Matt Hardy also getting the hashtags #SimonMustBeDELETED and #DELETESimonBarSinister trending heavily as well. Simon's video was also posted all over YouTube and many other different video sites in many different languages.
End times prophets were also on social media stating that the Rapture is only days away and it will come before Simon's world takeover, so everyone will be judged and that Jesus Christ, not Simon Bar Sinister, truly rules the world. Hashtags like #TheRapture, #JesusSaves, #HeIsComingBack, #JudgmentDay, and #TheSecondComing were also trending heavily. Evangelists and preachers from all over were on TV, the internet, and the radio spreading the same type of end times message, telling everyone to repent now before it is too late and that this very thing was foreseen in the word of God.
Back in the Powerpuff Household, the heroes, like everyone else on Planet Earth, was soaking in the message, slowly getting over the shock of what was heard and seen.
"We will get you Simon, you piece of shit! You and your three bitches will get beaten quick!" Underdog shouted angrily.
"Mother fucking right!" Buttercup angrily said in agreement. "I fucking wish these EmerRings will hurry up and give us our new powers! I'm fucking tired of sitting around doing nothing while the world is going to total shit!"
"We all are, Buttercup!" Blossom said. "But if we go now, we have no shot. Remember, this too shall pass. Keep the faith, everyone."
"I know, but damnit, it's getting hard." Bubbles mentioned. "The world is in trouble, but I'm so worried about Polly and the Professor. Who knows if Simon…." Bubbles got out before she started crying with Underdog walking over to hug her tightly.
"Cry not, Bubbles, we'll stop their folly. We'll save the world, including the Professor and Polly." Underdog said as Blossom and Buttercup hugged Bubbles as well, who started to wipe away tears.
"All we can do is just pray for those people." Bubbles got out.
The heroes walked back over to the front room, Buttercup taking a quick peek out the front door and seeing the very first signs of the world takeover. The skies were showing dark, ominous clouds in the distance. The streets of Townsville were completely deserted. It was so silent, one could literally hear a pin drop. Buttercup shut the door and sighed heavily, hands on her hips with her head down.
"Lord help us." Buttercup said to herself.
As he was walking around the house, Underdog looked over to his left and spotted an acoustic guitar, a smile cracking on his face despite the turbulent times. He picked up the guitar and gave it one long strum, startling the girls a bit. The girls looked over and saw Underdog carrying the guitar with warm smiles on their faces as well, the Capitol City hero taking a seat next to the Townsville heroines. Underdog played a little tune on the guitar and adjusted the tuning of it to get it to sound just right before looking over at the girls.
"Girls, we can't forever be so sad and blue. It's time for a song to brighten the mood." Underdog said. "Any requests?"
"Surprise us!" Blossom responded gleefully.
"Well then, girls, if I may, then I know it's gonna be a…." Underdog got out.
Underdog began playing a song, which the girls instantly recognized from only the first few notes. Underdog played and sung a rendition of Bill Withers's "Lovely Day". The girls smiled and clapped along, moving their heads from side to side as Underdog sung. The girls in harmony sung the chorus with Underdog. Underdog flawlessly sung the famous sustained note towards the end of the song, the girls' smiles going from ear to ear.
After the song was over, the girls blushed hard and shed a few tears, all giving Underdog a big hug.
"That was amazing, Underdog!" Blossom said with a huge smile on her face.
"The Professor sings that song to us all the time!" Buttercup added with a huge smile on her face as well.
"But damnit, dare I say, you sung it better than he did!" Bubbles added also with a huge smile on her face.
"Do you swoon Polly all the time with that soothing voice?" Blossom then asked.
"Because you've sure swooned us!" Bubbles added.
"You are fucking awesome, Underdog." Buttercup further added.
Underdog could only blush and chuckle a bit, looking over at all the girls as he hugged them nice and tightly, the Champion of Champions simply speechless.
"Thank you so much, Underdog!" All three girls said in unison.
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup then leaned in and simultaneously kissed Underdog's cheeks with a "mwah" sound to emphasize it. Underdog's face just melted into a warm smile, nodding to the three girls. And with those kisses, Underdog joined a very small list that also included only Professor Utonium and Harry Pitt – being a person that has gotten kissed by all three Powerpuff Girls.
