Chapter 82 A Surprise to be Kept

Weiss was walking around the village and some of them are getting new gear after that battle thanks to the mayor here. Jaune was the one getting a chance to upgrade his gear.

"Ruby has been acting strange lately." She frowns.

Her leader got too happy out of nowhere and she doesn't know why. First she was sad now she's happy.

"Something strange is going on."

Haru was at a building as he was playing chess against a elder, he then moves knight making checkmate.

"Well, I must say your pretty good." The elder said.

But the Haru he's facing is different.

Weiss came. "Hey Haru."

He turns around to reveal it was Yami Haru.

"Huh?" She got surprised.

The way he looks was very different from the Haru she knew.

"Oh, hey Weiss." He smirks.

She stares at Yami Haru and can feel a different feeling like a more sinister side that's mature.

"Who... Who are you?" She said.

He frowns before going away as the elder got confused.

She follows after him as the Haru kept walking away from her.

"Hey wait, who are you and where is the real Haru?" She questions him.

"I am Haru." He said.

"Theres no way, the Haru I knew wouldn't make a face like that." She said.

Weiss goes in front of him, Yami Haru stares at her.

"So who are you actually?" She grabs him.

She knew Haru for a long time and he wouldn't make a fake like that.

"I don't think theres much to talk about." Yami Haru said.

"Hey don't give me that!" She then looks at the puzzle. "Was it this thing, Haru came back with it and now he changed because of it."

"Well if you wanna know. I am a spirit of the Millennium Puzzle. I protected Haru from another item." Yami Haru explained.

"Another?" She said.

"Yes the rod. It would have corrupted him if I didn't stop it." Yami Haru said.

Weiss got surprised that Haru would have been turned evil.

"What are you doing now?" She said.

"Don't worry, just taking a walk and trying a game against someone here." He said.

She frowns and narrows her eyes.

"If your so worried I can change back."

Yami Haru switches back to regular Haru.

"Huh?" Haru saw Weiss. "Weiss?"

She smiles and hugs him. "Haru!"

He got surprised but hugs her back. "I'm fine Weiss. The other me isn't that bad."

"Well I just didn't like that arrogant smirk he had." She said.

"Don't mind it." He waves it off. "So how are the others doing?"

"They're fine for now. Jaune has been trying to get new gear after that battle. Also Ruby seems too happy recently despite what happened." Weiss said.

"Oh..." Haru looks to the side. "It seems she's got a surprise."

She got confused at the way he said it.

"Surprise?" She said.

"Oh you girls will see later."

He didn't want to say about the driver since he didn't finish the ones for the rest of the girls yet.

She was looking at him with a questioning look since he's hiding something.

"What are you hiding now?" She said.

"It's nothing you'll see when the time is right." He said.

'I want to make sure the other belts are done so they won't start fighting against each other.' he thinks to himself.

Weiss decided to leave it for now since it must be important what Haru is preparing.

At another spot Ruby was walking forward as she holds her driver.

"I can't believe Haru gave me this." She smiles holding it.

She saw Yang and hides it right away.

Yang then noticed her. "Hey Ruby."

"Hi Yang." She smiles while waving.

"I've seen you've been pretty happy lately." Yang said.

"Oh, just been in a better mood." Ruby said.

Yang raises an eyebrow. "Really? After that whole scene of your feeling bad."

"I've just found my thing. Thanks to Haru." She told her.

"Oh, what did he say?" Yang leans towards her.

"Let's say he's got a surprise for later." Ruby said.

Yang got surprised.

"What surprise?"

"It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you." Ruby said.

Yang then shakes her. "Then how about I shake it out of you!"

Ruby got dizzy as she got shaked, Haru then appeared in time and stopped it by pulling Ruby away.

"Okay that's enough Yang."

"You guys are hiding something and I want to know." Yang said.

"And you will later after it's ready if we tell you... It wouldn't be a surprise! So just trusts us this time Yang and you'll like it." He told her.

Yang stares at the two. "Fine, but I really want to know what it is."

"You will, just stay calm." He said.

"Okay." Yang walks away.

The two calmed down since they didn't want to deal with a mad Yang.

Blake watches them from a tree and she was curious to what Haru and Ruby are planning since it can be a big surprise not even she knows.

"Maybe I should I spy on them."

"I heard that Blake!" Haru yelled.

She got nervous hearing that.

"I'm sorry!" She said.

"Wow, that sounded like how Pyrrha would say it." Ruby said.

"I tried to keep it a secret but the girls all want to see it." Haru sighs.

"Don't worry Haru." Ruby said.

They two went away as Haru doesn't want to see JNPR now as they'll start doing the same as the other three trying to find the truth.

He wanted to make sure the drivers were ready for his friends since that's what's going to give them a edge in the future battles to come.

'With Orichalcos appearing along with Another Wizard, the group will need to get stronger to even compete with them much less defeat on they're own. As i've seen how strong Dartz was.'

Haru still remembers Dartz and has some nightmares if he failed in that battle against him since he was worried if he came back and now that is coming back.

He can't let his friends get hurt or worse facing the Orichalcos as they would lose without a question.

So he will make sure they all stay safe.

Note: The team bad a few moments so set up what Haru is doing with the new drivers as they are all wondering what he's doing and Yami Haru talking with Weiss.
