ON WITH THE STORY!:)

Disclaimer: I do not own Austin and Ally just the plot line:)

Fighting Against the Odds

Ally's POV

I slammed my coffee cup on the table.

"I have never been treated with so much disrespect!" I yelled in anger. Sonita stared at me sympathetically before taking a sip of her pumpkin spice latte. We were in the small cafe just to get a couple drinks and chat about our daily routines in the workforce. But, of course, we ended up talking about Austin instead.

"Ally I-"

"And then he has the audacity to say I'm too impatient! I hate him!" I grabbed my cinnamon bun and took a bite out of it. I could feel my blood boiling with anger and it had already only been 20 minutes, it felt as if nothing anyone would say would calm me down any time soon.

"You're thinking way too much about this Ally." She said quietly.

"Me? How am I thinking about this too much? It's just Austin Moon and how he's being a self-centered, arrogant, cocky, no good-" Sonita's eyes widened and I stopped mid-sentenced. I turned around in my seat to see Austin looking down at me with a cocky smirk on his arrogant face.

"Well hello there Ms. Dawson.."

Fear crept over my body, behind the stiff jawline and charismatic smirk on his lips held a look of sincere domination and anger. He was pretty good at maintaining a facade, I'll give you that. "I think I'll be going." Sonita carefully collected her things but Austin shook his head.

"Oh don't go," He smiled and pulled up a chair in between Sonita and I, "please continue."

I glared at him, he was so doing this on purpose to put Sonita on the spot.

"Austin-" He held up his hand, "Please do inform me on what Allison was saying."

"Well...I...she...I've got to go..." She quickly grabbed her latte and stood up but Austin grabbed her arm, he pouted his lips and looked at her all innocent like. Right then and there I felt like dying from the amount of feigning he was doing.

He rubbed her hand gently, "Was mean ole' Allison saying something ugly about me again?"

"Austin!" I seethed.

She shook her head no but he scooted his chair closer to her, I could see the blush spreading across her cheeks as she so desperately wanted to runaway but we all knew Austin was locking her in with his charms.

"Ms. Sonita, is that okay if I call you that?" He asked.

She nodded and he smiled, "Good, now can you answer my question properly?"

I slammed my fist down on the table and stood up, "Austin, in the hallway now." I snapped at him angrily. He looked at me innocently as if he was a kid that was trying to convince his parents that he didn't take cookies from the cookie jar...but we all know the kid did take the cookies.

"B-But I'm just getting to know your lovely friend." He coaxed.

I stared him down and he sighed, "It was nice meeting you Sonita." He winked at her and got up out of the chair quickly walking past me as fast as he could. I took my cup of coffee and collected my things, "I'm sorry Sonita, I'll call you later."

"It's okay don't worry about it." She waved goodbye before leaving.

I slung my bag over my shoulder and exited the cafe, suddenly someone grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into a dark room. A pair of hands were enclosed around my mouth and muffled screams barely escaped my lips.

"Ally chill it's just me Austin."

I pulled his hand away from my mouth, "You're awful."

"And you're mean Dawson, you're gossiping about me to other people?" He asked. I looked down, what was I going to tell him? I mean yeah I was talking about him but I was just sharing my feelings that is in no way gossiping.

"I was not." I retorted.

He reached over and flipped the switch on, "You're lying to me."

I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against the wall, "Can I go now? If I was lying you would know so can I go we have a meeting in 10 minutes and if were late we'll miss a whole bunch of information. And since I'm so impatient I need to go."

He smirked and laid his hand on his hip, "No way...you're still pissed about what happened earlier."

"No, now if you'll-" Suddenly I was pushed up against the wall, both of my hands were above my head. "If you'll tell me the truth I'll let you go, but if you don't I'll have to make you pay for it..." I stared at him in shock. I had never seen him become so demanding and dominating...it was kind of hot on him but I would never admit that.

"I...well..."

He cupped his ear with his hand, "Huh? What was that?"

"Why were you so mean to me? After everything I did for you from fixing your pillows, getting your drinks, driving you to work, making sure you got plenty of rest? What did I ever do to you to make you hate me so much?" By then I was breathing heavily from the lack of oxygen I was taking in. Austin stared at me in complete shock as if he was lost for anymore words to say.

Was it that much of a surprise that he was acting like a jerk to me this whole time?

"I'm sorry..." He blurted out.

I looked at him in shock, "You're sorry?"

"Look Ally this is really hard for me to say so can you please just forgive me already?" He asked quickly while looking down. He didn't once look me in the eye during this and it made me feel a bit repulsive. "I'm not going to say I forgive you just so you don't feel anymore guilt."

"Wait Ally-"

I pushed him off me and opened the door, "When you truly mean you're sorry then come find me because what you just said was pathetic." I slammed the door shut and walked away. I wasn't in the mood for Austin's lame apologies this time, if he was going to apologize then he damn might as well mean it.

I walked up the stairs and entered the meeting room.

The men were sitting in their sits tossing around small talk, while I was still trying to get used to the fact that there are only boys in this part of the building. I took a seat in my assigned chair and looked over some notes until the meeting started.

"Whatcha lookin' at?" I froze in my seat and slammed my book shut.

Dallas casually took a seat next to me and smiled, "I'm sorry did I scare you?" He asked sweetly while pulling some papers out of his bag. I shook my head, "Not too much, I was just getting a bit too focused on my notes that I forgot about the people around me for a moment." I said as I laid my notes on the table.

"Ha sorry, so did you hear about the surprise Detective Jackson is going to tell us about today?" He questioned. I turned in my seat, "Surprise? I don't like surprises..how did you even find out about it?" I asked.

"Everyone in the department has been talking about it."

I nodded my head in understanding, no one would tell me about it obviously, I was the black sheep of the department therefore I could not know anything about everything. I learned to accept that a few days ago.

"Oh well I hope it's a good surprise.." I said smiling at him.

"Me too."

Suddenly Austin entered the room, the same cold look on his face. His eyes landed on mine promptly and I looked down, I could feel a blush creep up on my cheeks. I was embarrassed about the little encounter we had back in the closet awhile ago...

"Take a seat everybody." Detective Jackson said as he walked into the room.

He took his seat, cleared his throat and stared each and everyone of us down, "Now boys," he looked at me and smiled, "and girls...I need you to be very serious about this meeting. Take every possible note you can, this is vital information so pay close attention to Detective Moon."

Austin walked up to the front of the room and took out a chart laying it on the table.

"Now boys...and girl..." He said smirking at me. I scowled at him and he continued, "This here is a layout of Memorial Bank, now did it ever occur to you that maybe the person who set the radioactive bomb off is someone who knows the building inside out? Maybe an architect, inspector? Or..." He suddenly pulled out a picture of a man with brown hair and dark green eyes.

"Who the hell is that? An aristocrat?" A man asked laughing.

Austin rolled his eyes, "No dumb ass, it's a picture of the great great grandson of the late creator of Memorial Bank, Warren Memoir. Warren Memoir was supposed to take control of Memorial Bank two months ago but his brother, William was more suited for the job." He said while rolling up the picture.

"How is this in any way supposed to contribute to the case?" Dallas asked.

"How you say? Well our detective powers, as you would say, are driven on instinct and my instinct is definitely pointing to the fact that Warren Memoir has something to do with this bank situation." He spoke confidently. Dallas rolled his eyes, "Are you positive about this? Because if we start pointing fingers at some aristocrat this department is sure to be sued for it."

"Then sued we shall be, I'm 95% positive he's our bomber." Austin sat down in the chair.

The men started to talk among themselves, doubting Austin's accusations. But for me, it wasn't too hard not to believe, "Guys," I said standing up, "just think about it for a minute. Warren Memoir was supposed to have the bank...but his brother jumped in and grabbed the opportunity. Wouldn't you want to destroy everything he has in order to get what you want? First would go the bank... then... the brother would go next..it's like a sequence!" I said while looking at Austin.

"Exactly and that's why we need to get to his brother before he gets to him first." He stood up and went over to Detective Jackson, "And that is why, men...and women of course...we are all going to England."

My jaw dropped as did my notes, "E-England? A-As in...flying...to England?" I stuttered.

He nodded, "Precisely, is there a problem with that Dawson?" He asked with a smirk. My hand clenched in anger and I looked down, "No sir."

"Good, now Detective Jackson has put a list of partners together so that does mean you'll be roommates for a couple of days, so you better get along with each other or you're off the case. And please no whining about your partners we already get enough of that crap with the other departments below us." Austin grabbed the clipboard from Detective Jackson and read the list aloud.

"Okay, Daniel and Lucas...Max and Anthony...Dallas and Allison... wait what the hell?!" Austin cursed stopping after my name. Dallas smiled and put an arm around my shoulder, "It looks like we'll be rooming together rommie." He winked at me and I felt my cheeks heat up.

I couldn't believe I was partnered up with Dallas...

"Jackson, this has to be wrong...there is no way Allison is getting partnered with that pervert!" He yelled. Detective Jackson rolled his eyes and stood up, I could now see the similarity in the two, he grabbed his papers and walked toward the door, "You have a lot of nerve calling him the pervert." And with that he walked out of the room without a single word.

Austin looked at Dallas and scowled. "You guys look at the list yourself, I've gotta go."

He ran out of the room leaving his bags behind, "What's up with him?" Dallas asked.

I shrugged, "I don't even know..."
