Austin's POV

"Come on Noah!" I yelled as I grabbed my skateboard.

"Alright alright I'm coming!" He yelled right back. I laughed and shook my head before getting on my skateboard. We were at Noah's house and decided to sneak off to our secret hiding place. We have gone there ever since we were nine and the spot still hasn't changed one bit. We were now 14 and 8th grade had just ended for us.

"Ready?" Noah asked suddenly appearing. I nodded and we rode down the street making sure no one caught us. Everyone in this neighborhood knew us so if any of them caught us we would be in so much trouble.

I turned onto Laker's drive and I got off my skateboard as we neared the path.

"Dude we haven't been here in like forever." Noah said with a wide smile. I laughed, "That's why we need to check it out. Not to sound like a softy or anything but I miss it to be honest." I said shyly. He rolled his eyes, "You're such a girl."

I growled and he got off his skateboard dashing past me and disappeared behind the tree leading to the path. I ran after him trying to catch up, I saw his brown hair moving through the tree's as I reached out and grabbed his shoulder. "Too slow!" I teased. He stopped trying to get away and leaned against a tree trying to catch his breath.

"Well it's not my fault I don't like being chased!" He yelled.

I chuckled and walked toward the abandoned tree house. It looked the same, to me it looked beautiful. It was surrounded by a beautiful lake that gleamed only when a full moon came out, which was going to be tonight!

"Austin I'm not sure if this is a good idea." Noah said doubtfully. I scoffed and crossed my arms over my chest. "Don't be such a baby Noah we're going to high school together aren't you excited!" I enthused as I climbed up the tree house.

"Ugh Austin get back down here!" He yelled.

But I blocked out his voice as I stepped inside. My eyes lit up as it still had our stuff in here, my little ukulele in the corner and Noah's little drum set in a small box. "Noah come up here!"

"I'm not coming up there it looks dangerous!" He whined.

I groaned and ran my fingers through my hair. "Get your ass up here right now your drum set's up here..." I teased lightly. I could just imagine the smile rising on his lips right now. Suddenly I heard his feet climbing up the ladder and I smirked.

He stepped inside and looked around the tree house. "You know Austin if someone gets hurt up here I'm running."

I laughed, "I get it." I sneered.

"Aye look it's my little drum!" He enthused as he ran over to it. He picked up the little drum and pulled out the drum sticks. He started out playing a nice steady rhythm and then started to play little drummer boy.

"I remember when you used to play that song every Christmas." I said sitting down on the floor.

"Yeah...I miss those times." He said sadly. I sighed and patted his back, his mother died when he was 7 years old. A year later his dad found love with my mother's sister and they got married.

That was the year I met my best friend.

"Aye cheer up Noah!" I ruffled his hair, "Think about the times ahead! When we get to high school we are going to be the amazing talented duo! We'll play sports, hang out at the beach, meet the cute babes!" I enthused nudging his shoulder.

But still he was frowning.

"Okay what's up with you? You've been gloomy and not fun all day." I said bluntly.

"Austin I'm moving." He blurted.

I gaped at him in shock. "W-what?! Why!?" I yelled in disbelief.

"My dad got a new job in Michigan, it's way better and pays more. You have to understand..."

I sighed, "Look Noah I do understand. I just can't believe my best friend is moving away forever." I said sadly. I could feel some tears fall from my eyes but I brutally wiped them away. "Don't worry I'll be back some day trust me, I can't be away from my best friend forever."

I laughed and punched my shoulder.

"You better not be crying or I'm gonna start crying." He said trying to bite back laughter.

"Aye Noah?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"Promise when you get back from Michigan you will meet me at this place on the night of the full moon. I know we will probably hang out before then with other people but when we get here promise me it'll just be you and me. We'll celebrate and catch up on life. Talk about all the girls we've fallen in love with." I held out my hand.

He chuckled and looked at me as he shook my hand, "I promise."

"Now you can't tell anyone about this tree house." I warned. He rolled his eyes, "You act like we're little kids."

"In my mind we kind of our. But you have to promise me!" I whined. "Fine Austin I promise I will not tell a soul!"

"This is a place we only know of. No one else." I said trying to etch it into his mind. He laughed, "Okay dude I get it this a place that we only know of."

I ruffled his hair, and got up. "Let's go home it's getting late."

"Alright."

We both climbed down the ladder and grabbed our skateboards.

Noah ran toward the path as I looked back at the gleaming lake.

"This is somewhere only we know." I said before running off to catch up with Noah.
