Bowser Jr. sat at the brightly-colored table in Toad Town's most popular lunch spot, Burger Shroom, his claws drumming impatiently on the surface. Today was a big day—his minions had hyped up this whole event as the ultimate challenge of luck and taste: the search for the Mushroom Kingdom Power Up Cheeseburger.
Three identical, crinkly-wrapped burgers sat before him. To the untrained eye, they all looked exactly the same, but only one was the legendary creation: stacked high with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and slices of Super Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, and even glowing Super Stars. The other two? Boring, plain cheeseburgers. Not bad, but not the ultimate power-up feast Bowser Jr. was craving.
The Toad cashier, wearing a cheerful red-and-white polka-dotted uniform, adjusted his hat and grinned. "Alright, Junior, here's how this works. Close your eyes, no peeking! We're shuffling these burgers up good."
Bowser Jr. crossed his arms and huffed, but followed the rules, squeezing his eyes shut and turning his spiky head away. He could hear the wrappers crinkling and the sound of plates sliding around the table. Ten seconds felt like an eternity as the Toads shuffled the burgers with glee. Somewhere in the background, he thought he heard a Goomba cheering him on.
"Okay, eyes open!" the cashier chirped. "When the whistle blows, you'll pick: left, middle, or right!"
Bowser Jr. squinted at the burgers. They were lined up in perfect formation, betraying no clues. He tapped a claw against his chin. He had to make the right choice—there was no way he'd let himself walk away with a boring cheeseburger.
The whistle blew, sharp and clear.
"Middle!" he shouted almost immediately, slamming a clawed hand on the table for dramatic effect. The Toad cashier nodded, sliding the middle burger over to him with a flourish.
Bowser Jr. stared at the unassuming wrapper, his heart pounding with anticipation. Was this the one? He hesitated for a moment before the Toad yelled, "Unwrap and eat it!"
With a quick flick of his claws, the wrapper flew open, revealing… a burger stacked with colorful ingredients that practically sparkled under the restaurant's lights. He'd done it! He'd found the Mushroom Kingdom Power Up Cheeseburger!
Triumphantly, Bowser Jr. took a huge bite, his eyes widening as the flavors hit his taste buds. The tangy pickles, crisp lettuce, sweet tomatoes, and those magical slices of Fire Flower and Super Star blended together in a way that felt… powerful.
"YES!" he roared, crumbs flying everywhere. "This is awesome! I feel unstoppable!"
The Toad cashier laughed and handed him a napkin. "That's the power of the Mushroom Kingdom Power Up Cheeseburger for ya. Enjoy!"
As Bowser Jr. devoured his prize, the Toads clapped and cheered, and somewhere in the distance, Mario sighed. Another victory for Bowser Jr., and this time, it came with fries.
