An: So my vampire obsessed, zombie apocalypse loving ass couldn't not write this. And it got me out of my writers block. Hellsing/Dead Island 2. The personalities from the Hellsing portion will have a healthy mix of Abriged and source material.

Millie was having the nightmare again. Sharp stabbing, breath catching, wound throbbing, and blood gushing...Not this shit again. Millie tried to wake up, but the all consuming pain of the memory turned horror was too much. The plane sparked and somewhere in the red tinted darkness Millie could smell the start of an electrical fire. Fluids were dripping where none should drip and the smell of coppery blood and death was filling her nasal pssages and threatening to choke her.

"Shit. Shit." Her blood slickened hands scrabbled at the piece of metal sticking out of her abdomen. "Gonna bleed out." She had no choice but to rip it out. No one was coming and she couldn't move. There was a doctor's bag a few rows up from where she'd been sitting. A surgeon he'd said he was. Millie told herself she'd pull on three. She pulled on two, screaming a horrid sound and pressing hands to the tidal wave flowing from her and began limping through the upside down aisles. I should be dead. This was never supposed to happen.

Millie's eyes shot open to the gentle shaking of someone who was clearly not comfortable shaking her too hard. Kai was relieved as he glanced over her, a few strands of dark hair falling from his normally tightly pulled bun. "You fell and they were swarming you. I got worried you wouldn't get back up this time. But you...they just left you alone once you stopped moving." Millie sat up slowly, looking at her arms and legs and seeing the bandaged wounds that were no doubt already healing under the dressings.

"Thank you, Kai." She croaked as he pressed a glass of water into her hand. She sipped at a snail's pace as she tried to remember that second before she jumped the fence and got pulled back down with the hordes of undead but it was all a black nothingness. In fact, Millie couldn't quite remember her dream either. Kai gave her a very tired looking nod and went back to mopping the floors, leaving her to finish waking up in the booth she was sat in. The Blue Crab Grill was Millie's favorite place to be since...Well since Emma Jaunt basically kicked her out to die. Teach me to save someone from their assistant trying to rip out their throat. Man, screw you in your ivory tower. I really liked you. Now Millie and few of the other immune were just treading water trying to find their way in the world as it had become.

She knew Dani and Jacob were trying to get with Dr. Reed but was unsure about the others. Ryan was here with her, as he had been too afraid to go anywhere on his own. Millie herself was going back and forth from Patton to the Blue Crab boys just trying to keep them alive. She had to have something to care about, especially since going back to college seemed less and less important with each passing day. As if summoned by her rampant depression, Kai came back over and sat down in front of her. "Mil, are you...Alright, no one is okay anymore. I guess what I should ask is how are you functioning at the moment? I haven't seen you working on your thesis lately."

Here we go again. She thought. "Kai, I majored in biology. The cryptozoology was a hobby that got way out of hand. And yes, I was centering my final on it but I don't-"

Trent, puffing at a joint he'd just rolled laughed a little. "You also minored in zoology. You're better suited to study this crap than anyone else we know about."

Millie sighed. "It's just a hobby. Any self respecting scientist will look at it like a joke. Cryptozoology is a pseudoscience, after all. I just think it's interesting to make up species and the environments they live in. You can really engineer a living being perfectly and scientifically suited for any fantasy habitat if you know what you're doing."

"Naw." Trent took another long draw on his joint, and breathed out the pungent smoke, offering to Alex who had just finished his daily reps with the barbell. "Most people aren't like that. You need to do something with your smarts. Maybe it was a joke to science before...But the world hadn't even started to end yet."

"I think I need you to do this." Kai said quietly. "The same way I need to keep the grill cleaned and running. It just...it has to be. I think you need yourself to do this. Trent is right. You can still study these things. If it helps you, look at them not like cryptids but biological beings with an infection."

"Fine." Millie began to poke through her bag, handing items to Kai she thought he'd find useful in exchange for some of the better crafting supplies he had access to. "Better lighten my load if I'm going to turn researcher this late into the apocalypse." The Blue Crab boys gave a loud cheer and Alex even clapped Millie on the back, causing her to stumble a bit. The affection filled her with resolve she was glad to have. "See you in a couple days, guys."

Hopping the fence, Millie paused and was struck with the unnatural quiet around her. The dead were always moaning or the ground was always quaking. In fact, there were some tremors at this very moment, but they felt different and it took her several long moments to realize why that was. Vehicles. Multiple large vehicles. That's...new. Millie began to navigate through the city, noting every time she came across a zombie they too were focused on the ruckus. There were no runners either. Because they've already made it to whatever is doing this. The closer she got, the more Millie could pick out, like continuous gunfire and shouting in Latin and English. Millie wound her way carefully through the side streets, going through alleys and sometimes climbing up to balconies. Finally she saw movement a couple blocks over from where she was.

Taking care to look carefully, she was able to make out that these figures were moving in formation down the street, just rows and rows of priests wielding guns; followed up by armored trucks that looked like they'd be more in place with a military group. Dani and Jacob got help from Dr. Reed this fast? Hope sparked in her belly, warm and dangerous in its quick growing strength. Scrambling down, she made her way through the last couple back lots to be on the same road as this admittedly rather odd procession.

As she was about to take her first step out, hands cupped around her mouth call out that she was alive, Millie felt something cold and hard jam into her upper back. It's a gun. She thought, and instantly all the childish hope she'd let in fled. It's a gun resting just behind my heart. A rather narrow barrel too. A rifle of some sort perhaps? "Hello there, lassie." The gun prodded deeper into her skin, a definite presence. There was no doubting her situation now. "What yer gonna do now is take a couple steps into the main road there, nice and easy now."

Millie's anger flared at this and her shoulders set in sudden stubborness. "I can survive a bullet." She said, teeth clenched and lips pressed tight as she shook with the effort of trying to force the ragey thing to happen again.

"Have it your way, you heathen." There was displaced air behind her like a hand being waved and then a loud pop and a sharp crack rang out from somewhere above them. The pain in Millie's knee was instant and somehow still managed to throw her brain for a loop. It took a solid five seconds for her to connect the dots on what had just happened. The panting of her breath increased sharply until Millie was hyperventilating. The black veins were crawling up her legs, peeking out of her shoes and coming down her arms and when she breathed out again, it sounded more akin to a snarl.

"Oi, we got another one!" There was movement behind her and Millie found herself pinned face first to the brick wall while her mind was slipping away. There was another crack and piercing pain in her upper thigh. They shot me a second time. She thought numbly before raising her leg backwards and kicking madly into the genitals of the man behind her. There was groaning and the pressure eased off. Millie stumbled away from the wall and back down the alley, trying to get away before the hunger sharpening her teeth took full hold.

The cloaked figure watched from rooftop as the poor bastard of a priest who'd come to Father Anderson's aid was grabbed by the young woman on her way out and dragged into the nearest open sewer. He was screaming the whole way, too. Like a stuck little piggy. The figure chuckled to himself as he heard the slurping sounds of someone feasting on dead priest meat in the opening. She's a hungry one. Adjusting his red-tinted glasses, the figure checked his pistols again before descending into the street below to cause some havoc for the invading Catholic army.
