I was planning on posting this earlier in the week but life got in the way I'm afraid. It's been a long day but I wanted to get this posted for you guys to read so I do apologise for any mistakes there may be. I'm also so glad you're all enjoying this!

I also want to apologise for not replying to any reviews but for some reason I just can't get it to work on my phone for some bizarre reason. Thank you so much for all the reviews and I'll try and answer any questions here if you do have any!

By Friday Maura was used to having Luna in the office with her all day. The girl may have talked alot but she knew to stay in the office. She looked through the window into the lab but she didn't once set foot into it. Maura wasn't sure just how much school work was getting done as Luna was so fascinated by the books and anything related to science and was very good at distracting Maura enough to forget about checking the work. The blonde was really enjoying the company and didn't want it to end. She was also enjoying the time that Jane would spend down in the morgue with her. It felt like a friendship was blossoming.

"Maura," Luna's voice floated from the sofa and pulled the doctor from her thoughts. "Why aren't you married?"

"Oh." She was startled by the sudden question. "I've just never found the person I want to spend the rest of my life with."

"Neither has Ma. Do you ever get lonely?"

"Sometimes," Maura admitted. She had found herself feeling a lot more lonely since two dark-haired people had barreled into her office and become a presence in her life.

Luna gave a nod and paused for a minute as a thought ran through her head. "You and Ma should become friends. Then you can come over often and show me more of your science books."

"Oh." The doctor found herself at a loss for words. The thought of a friendship sounded lovely, especially with Jane Rizzoli. She'd never had friends before, not really, not unless the other person was gaining something from her and then once they had they would disappear from her life.

"Hey," a voice called from the doorway as Jane entered, pulling Maura from her thoughts. "Ready to go?"

"Yep." Luna shoved her books into her backpack and slung it over her shoulder.

"Thanks again for this week, Maura." Jane smiled gratefully at the doctor as she placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder. "It's really helped me out."

"I'm happy to help again next week if you need me to." Maura stood from her desk and walked around to the sofa.

"I appreciate that. I'll have to let you know. My mother was talking about taking some time off work to watch Luna for a few days next week."

"Of course." Maura nodded and felt a pang of sadness pull at her heart. "Would you like to come over for lunch tomorrow?" she asked hopefully.

"We've already imposed on you enough this week." Jane looked back at her. As much as she wanted to accept the invitation to spend more time with the blonde she was also aware that some people could only deal with the Rizzolis in small doses and Maura seemed like she could be one of them.

"It's no bother." She gave a small shrug. Jane looked down at Luna before back to the blonde, both wearing a hopeful expression.

"Okay, if it's not too much trouble," Jane relented which earned her two big grins.

"Whoa." Luna looked around in amazement as they walked into Maura's house the next day for lunch. "It's really tidy in here."

"Puts our house to shame," Jane commented as she followed her daughter into Maura's living room. Everything had its place and everything was where it belonged with not a speck of dirt to be seen.

"Well, it's only me here." Maura felt a little embarrassed by her house. It didn't have the lived in feel that the Rizzoli house had. It felt like no one lived here. "Can I get you a drink?"

"Don't touch anything," Jane warned her daughter before she followed the blonde into her kitchen to help her with some drinks. "You didn't buy this just for us, did you?" Jane questioned as she eyed the assortment of juices that lined a shelf in the fridge. Her lips curved into a grin as she watched a guilty look cross over Maura's face. "With all this choice don't expect to have much of it left by the time Luna leaves here." She chuckled as she reached for the apple juice. "This is Luna's favourite."

"I wasn't sure what flavour she likes," Maura spoke quietly as she pulled some glasses from the cupboard. It was the first time she had someone over for lunch and she wanted to make a good impression. She wanted them to feel welcome. She wanted them to return.

"What's this?" Luna asked as she pointed at a box on the dining table.

"Oh, that's a body puzzle. There's a book that tells you about all the different organs and how they connect to each other. You then have a body to fit all the organs into. I thought you would be interested in it."

"It's for me?" Luna grinned happily. "Can I open it?"

"Of course." Maura smiled, relieved. She wasn't sure if the girl would like it or not.

"Cool." Luna instantly opened the box and began to pull things out, creating a mess on the otherwise perfect table.

"You did already own that and not get it especially for her, right?" Jane questioned the doctor standing next to her. A blush crept up Maura's cheeks at the question. "You didn't have to," the detective spoke softly and placed a hand on Maura's arm. "But thank you."

"I just thought she'd like something that is doable as well as reading about it in a book. She's been so interested in science and the human body this week."

"She really likes you," Jane commented and watched her daughter as she opened the book and began to read. "She's a bit disappointed that she's spending a few days with my mother next week." Maura felt her heart drop at the words. She had been hoping for another week with Luna and the visits from Jane. Instead it would be another quiet week where the only visits would be professional ones. "I think Ma just wants to fuss over her, she misses how much time they used to spend together."

"How long did you live with your mother for?"

"Until I was able to buy my house. It was cramped but it just made childcare so much easier. When I was late home from work there was no moving Luna from one house to another if she was already asleep or having to make the choice of staying over or spending the night away from her. It was hard when we moved out but it was also nice to have our own space. Ma still looks after Luna when I need her to but it's not as often now Luna is getting older and has more clubs at school. My brother Tommy also likes to spend an afternoon a week with Luna so Ma lost out on that one too."

"You've done well on your own with her. She's a good kid."

"Thanks," Jane's voice was soft as she accepted the compliment. "It's been hard juggling work and being there as much as possible for Luna. I just wanted her to see a strong woman who can do anything, you know? I didn't want her thinking that life is limited for women."

Maura nodded and let her gaze wander to Luna who was holding an organ against the page of the page she was reading, ready to put it in the body. She hadn't known the girl long but she could tell Jane had done exactly as she wanted in bringing her up. Luna Rizzoli was going to take on the world when she was older.

"Tell me more about you, Dr. Isles." Jane leaned her hip against the kitchen island and studied the blonde in front of her. "You said you grew up in France?"

"Yes, I was adopted and my parents decided to move us all to France. When I was ten I started boarding school, it was… an experience. Then I came back here for university, moved away again and now I'm back." Maura gave a small shrug. There wasn't really anything interesting about her life. She looked up at Jane and was surprised at the intense way the brunette was looking at her. She felt her breath catch in her throat at the look.

"Well, we're glad you moved back here." Jane smiled and ran a hand through her curls.

"Maura," Luna called, "can you help me, please?" She held up the liver piece of the puzzle with a frown on her face.

"Look at the time, we really should get going. Come on, kiddo." Jane stood from the sofa as she caught sight of the time on her watch. "Thank you again for lunch, Maura, it was lovely."

"I'm glad you enjoyed it." Maura too stood to say goodbye to her guests. She had hoped they would stay longer but of course they had their own lives to get back to.

Luna scooped up her body puzzle box with all the pieces inside before she turned to the blonde and gave her a hug. "Thanks for the puzzle, I love it." The mini Rizzoli grinned up at her. Maura couldn't help but smile widely back before the girl bounded to the front door to put her shoes on.

"I owe you for the hour of peace I am going to get when I get home." Jane stretched her back out from the sofa before she turned to follow her daughter.

"Ma, can I spend this week in Maura's office?" Luna asked with her hand on the door handle. "Please?"

"Nonna has taken time off work to be with you." Jane cupped her daughter's chin in her hand as the girl pouted. "I know you've enjoyed this week but Maura does have to work, you know?" Luna let out a sigh and opened the front door to walk to the car. "You have a fan." Jane smiled at Maura and gently touched her arm. "I'll see you at work."

After Maura waved them off and closed the door, she felt the emptiness of the house for the first time. It didn't feel like they had been there long enough to make that kind of impact but it turned out that they had. They had made an impact much bigger than Maura had realised and it was only going to grow.
