A/N: Here is a very short, quick update for you!
Penny woke up well before her alarm went off. Her body had gotten used to her healthy habits, and she was up in time for sunrise. Opening the curtains, she leaned out, happy to get some sun on her face. A cool wind blew across her face and she closed her eyes in contentment. After a minute, she drew back and stretched her hands above her head, idly looking out into the street as she did so. A short figure trying to park a red Vespa caught her attention.
"Howard?"
She said to herself in confusion, as she watched the little man struggle with four big, brown paper bags. He was trying to fit all of them in his arms, but they were always in danger of falling.
"HEY! WAIT!"
Penny yelled out loudly, causing several joggers to look up at her with surprise.
"PENNY?"
Howard said, looking up.
Penny gestured at him to wait, and moved away from the window. She hurried down the stairs, and onto the pavement where Howard was waiting for her.
"What's with all these bags?"
She asked, taking two of them from him. He held the other two, and they began walking up the stairs.
"Well, I was planning on surprising all of you with breakfast, but well…I miscalculated how many bags I could carry."
Howard said sheepishly.
"Wow! I didn't know you cooked. I thought your Maa did all the cooking."
Penny said.
"Yes, but my therapist suggested I should try cooking."
"So, we get to eat your experiments?"
Penny joked.
"Hey! I tried these recipes a couple of times before I made them today. I wouldn't mess up Leonard's birthday. God knows he's rarely had a good one.
"It's Leonard's birthday today?!"
Penny exclaimed, surprised.
"Welcome to a day in the average nerd's life; no one knows your birthday."
Howard said.
"Why didn't you or Raj say something to me? I don't even have a present for him."
"HEY! What's all this racket in the stairs?"
Sheldon's head poked out from the door 4A and he glared down the stairs.
"Oh, didn't you know Sheldon, we're starting a new band. We talk loudly in the stairs about it as a promotion technique."
Penny said.
"That's a very stupid technique. The average traffic for these stairs is – "
He stopped abruptly, looking at Penny and Howard's grinning faces.
"I do not appreciate the use of sarcasm early in the morning."
He said, and stomped inside the apartment, making Howard and Penny burst into giggles. As they were about to enter the apartment, Penny stopped Howard.
"You know I was just kidding about you trying out the recipes on us, right? I wasn't being mean."
"That's good to know. However, today is the exception, otherwise I'm most definitely going to try my recipes on all of you."
Howard said with a small giggle. Penny shook her head as she entered the apartment, closing the door behind them.
