WITHIN THE PAST WORLD:
A dazzling display of colors swirled and shimmered around them as the four Z Warriors found themselves being transported within a prism of light. The colors seemed to twirl endlessly, causing them to lose all sense of balance. The chamber walls had vanished. What they thought was 'up' was now 'down'. What was 'down' was now 'up'. The only constant was that they felt themselves being propelled in a forward direction.
"This is amazing!" Trunks exclaimed as waves of green, prussian blue, and yellow engulfed them. The light increasingly intensified until they were nearly blinded with its brightness. As the white spots before their eyes finally cleared away, they found themselves in an entirely different location...
"Where are we?" Goten wondered in awe as he looked around. Where once there had been the walls of a cramped chamber, there was now and endless corridor with small windows looking out into the endless abyss of space.
"From the looks of things, we are on a ship of some sort," Bulma realized as they glanced around at the long curved hallways.
A small figure with familiar dark up-swept hair was rushing hurriedly in their direction... Or so he was, until he ran right smack into a tall burly adult with a tuft of orange hair on his head. Momentarily dazed, the young 8-year-old child did not even realize that he was being lifted up by the back of his shirt until they were eye-to-eye.
"Well, if it isn't the young monkey," Rekoome chided. "What's the hurry?"
"That's none of your business!" Vegeta retorted.
"Well I think I just made it my business, monkey," Rekoome replied as he roughly jerked Vegeta's head to the side, causing a slight whimper to escape from Vegeta's lips.
"Hey! That's my father!" Trunks shouted at Rekoome. "Nobody treats my dad like that and gets away with it!"
Trunks was on the verge of attacking the over-sized adult, but Goku placed a hand on Trunks's shoulder. "No, Trunks. We're only here to observe. Remember all of this had already happened. We cannot interfere."
Reluctantly, Trunks backed down.
Rekoom noticed the angry red welts and bruises freshly formed along Vegeta's face and body. He laughed, "I see Frieza let you have it again, eh? Too bad you can't do anything right, hm? I only wish I was there to watch! It really would have made my day!"
A momentary look of pain and suffering flickered across the child's face. It was only decipherable to Trunks and Bulma, who were used to Vegeta's quick shows of emotion at home. The look was quickly replaced with one of anger as Vegeta tried to fight his way out of Rekoome's grasp. His efforts were futile, however, and only succeeded in making Rekoome laugh even harder. Vegeta struggled harder until he managed to land a direct kick to Rekoome's face.
Vegeta smirked. It hadn't hurt Rekoome, but at least it made him cease his stupid laughter! Unfortunately for Vegeta, it only managed to make Rekoome angry and tighten his grip. Rekoome laid an uncontrolled punch to the side of Vegeta's head, nearly knocking him unconscious as a result. Even though he was only semi-conscious, Vegeta refused to give in. He spit into Rekoome's face.
"Uuuughhh!" Rekoome exclaimed as he wiped the saliva off with his free hand. "You dirty little Saiyan!"
Vegeta couldn't help but laugh. "Shut up, Saiyan!" Rekoome yelled at him.
Still laughing Vegeta gathered energy into the palm of his hand. He was prepared to launch it at Rekoome's face for yet another 'surprise', but Rekoome angrily punched him into the floor. What energy Vegeta had collected dissipated.
"I SAID SHUT UP!" Rekoome yelled as he kicked the now silent Saiyan prince in the stomach.
Suddenly, a voice rang out, "Leave our Prince be, Rekoome!" It was Raditz! He was followed closely by Nappa.
Rekoome grunted with annoyance as he turned towards the adult Saiyans. "More monkeys, eh? Well, you can have your pathetic 'prince'. I've had my fun with him, anyways."
Before walking away, however, Rekoome couldn't resist the urge to kick the little brat into the wall. It took all the self-control Trunks could muster to not to turn Super Saiyan and tear that brute apart for treating his father like that.
Raditz and Nappa quickly rushed to Vegeta's side.
"My Prince?" Raditz asked. "Are you alright?"
Vegeta did not answer at first.
"Prince Vegeta?" Nappa asked as he prepared to lift the seemingly unconscious child up and take him back to his room.
Before Nappa could act, Vegeta opened his eyes and growled, "Don't dare touch me, Nappa!" Vegeta struggled to stand up. He was shaky on his feet, but he managed none-the-less. "I'm NOT DEFENSELESS!"
"We know that, Prince Vegeta," Raditz agreed quietly. "We never said you were."
"Then why did you just..." Vegeta paused for a moment."Why did you try an' protect me?"
"You are our Prince," Raditz replied, somewhat surprised that Vegeta would even ask that.
Truthfully, ever since their home planet had been destroyed three years ago, Raditz and Nappa, both, had become increasingly more concerned with Vegeta's welfare. Frieza's ship was constantly lurking with dangers and since most, if not all, of the ship's inhabitants despised the Saiyans, there was always someone or another around who would jump at any opportunity they could get to take out their hatred upon the small child Prince. That, however, was not even close to the main reason why Raditz was so concerned about Vegeta. After all, although Vegeta was only eight years old, he could defend himself fairly well against most beings that dared to challenge him. No, it was because of Frieza that he was now so concerned for Vegeta...
"Yeah, well I don't need you," Vegeta mumbled, clearly upset about his display of weakness. He slowly walked away. Nappa tried to follow him, but Vegeta suddenly lashed out in anger. Vegeta blasted a small ki beam in Nappa's direction.
"I SAID I DON'T NEED YOU!" Vegeta scowled. His beam missed Nappa by a long shot due to the fact that he was still feeling disoriented from Rekoome's punch to his head, but Nappa and Raditz got the hint. They decided it would be best just to let him be for now.
A few minutes later, Vegeta was nearly to his room when he heard footsteps continuing to follow him again.
"I thought I told you to GO AWAY!" Vegeta fired another weakened beam without even bothering to check behind him.
"Oh, is that so, monkey?" a voice replied in a dangerously calm tone. The voice was enough to send tremors of immense fear throughout Vegeta's spine.
Vegeta's heart froze. His voice shook greatly as he hesitantly turned around and addressed his cruel master.
"M-Master Fr- Frieza!"
Rath: (Looks at watch) Well, this looks like a good place to stop. (Laughs evilly) Ah ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa! Ahhhh haaaaaaaa! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah Choooooooooooo! (Blows nose) Wait that didn't come out right! I meant to sound EVIL like this: Aaaaaaaah haaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAH CHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
