Chapter 23: Week Completed
Charlie walked through the hotel looking for Vaggie, until she reached the room they shared. The girl was sitting on the bed, head down and with her hands over her face. She looked up slightly, seeing the princess open the door, and quickly wiped her face with her right hand.
"Vaggie, are you okay?" - Charlie asked as she walked in and towards her loved. Vaggie just sighed and stated.
"I feel like I ruined everything, Charlie. It was supposed to be a special day for Anya, and I ended up making a scene. I just didn't want her to see Alastor's bloodthirsty broadcasts and be traumatized by what she heard from it, and my instinct was to want to stop that from happening to her."
She felt Charlie put her arm behind her and pull her closer. - "I understand, Vaggie. I was worried about that too, but we could have sorted it out after the party." - she replied, a sad smile on her face.
And then, the princess moved and brought the paper to Vaggie. - "But by the way, Anya asked me to give you this. She made it for you just now."
The girl took the paper and looked at it. It was a drawing Anya had made of her, holding her spear in her left hand and it showed her with several random demons lying on the ground, demonstrating how strong the child thought Vaggie was, even though she had never seen her fight.
"Anya asked me to describe everything I knew about you, and she just started drawing. I'm surprised she picked up on so many details about you so well. It was like she read my mind for this." - Charlie explained, as she saw Vaggie's expression soften.
The girl gave a slight smile and answered to herself. - "It seems she accepted my apology for ruining everything." - and then, Vaggie placed the drawing on the bed and turned to Charlie.
"Thanks a lot, Charlie. And by the way, I couldn't even give Anya my gift. Could you give it to her for me?And tell her I appreciate the drawing."
The princess wanted to ask why she didn't give the gift herself, but she nodded when she saw how tired and still sad her girlfriend still felt. -"I'll go, Vaggie. I'll be back in a little while. Get some rest."
With that, Charlie left the room and walked downstairs. The moment she entered the lounge, she noticed that everyone present was looking at a sleepy Anya on the sofa.
She walked over and asked. - "Uh, hey Anya. Do you want to go to sleep or something?" - The princess noticed the child startle slightly on the sofa and smile at her. -"No, Anya is fine. Anya just wants to enjoy everyone's company here more." - She replied, rubbing her eyes.
Charlie smiled at Anya, and then lightly rubbed her hair. And then, she walked to the table where there were still some pieces of cake and picked up a gift box, and returned to the little girl.
"By the way, Anya. Vaggie asked me to deliver this gift to you. She also told me that she really appreciated your drawing." - The princess stated, as she handed her the gift.
She saw Anya take the gift and look at her briefly, before opening the box, revealing it to be a pink rabbit plush. - "Wow, Anya has another plush." - the child declared, as she took the rabbit in her hands, with a smile.
"So, did you like it?" - Charlie asked, anticipation in her looked at her and nodded. - "Anya loved it. Tell Vaggie that Anya really liked her gift."
The princess's smile widened even more at that. - "Good, I'll tell Vaggie about it." - And then, she left the lounge, feeling even better that everything had been resolved without needing an intervention or anything like that.
The moment she walked up the stairs and down the hallway, Charlie noticed Anya's bedroom door open. Just as she was about to close it, the Radio Demon stepped out and closed the door behind him. They both found themselves staring at each other for a few seconds, until he broke the silence.
"Ah, Charlie. I didn't expect you here. Is everything okay at the party? And how is Anya?"
The princess just stared at him briefly, before asking. - "What were you doing in Anya's room, Alastor?" - and it was then that she saw him holding a small bag in his hands. - "This is...?"
"Oh, this? It's nothing big. It's just what's left of the radio I gave Anya as a gift, remember? I'm surprised she picked them up, even after what she saw." - he commented, as he lifted the bag, which made a slight metallic noise with the movement.
"It is, indeed. But one thing is clear, there is no need for Anya to listen to your radio broadcasts. She is too young to see that kind of thing, and we don't want her to have a bad impression of you or anything, you know?" - Charlie tried to argue.
Alastor just looked away, and replied with visible sarcasm in his voice. - "It's not like she doesn't already have a good impression of me, anyway. Why do you think she recoils in fear whenever I'm around?"
The princess didn't know what to say as the Radio Demon turned and walked away, surely heading to his room. With that, she simply stood there for a few seconds, thinking about something, and then walked back down the hallway.
Anya was leaning against the sofa, looking ahead, as she reflected on the week she had lived.
From her arrival in Hell to the hotel and what she experienced here and outside. She met some amazing, fun people, and at the same time had near-death experiences in a place where everyone was literally already dead. That thought made her laugh a little.
She felt that from then on, her life would be full of adventures and lots of drama to explore and unravel. And with her power to read minds at will, it would be even easier to help everyone in the hotel and possibly help each one redeem themselves and go to heaven.
Anya began to look at Husk, Niffty and Angel Dust, feeling that she would have a lot to go through with everyone there and overcome various obstacles that they would find along the way.
The child then began to feel her eyes begin to feel heavy as she struggled to stay awake until she could no longer.
Husk was the first to notice that the little girl had fallen asleep on the sofa. - "Hey, Angel. Looks like Anya finally fell asleep." - he pointed, making the spider look at her.
Angel smiled faintly, as he shook his head slightly. Then he stood up and began to gently carry Anya in his four arms. After giving the feline a flirtatious smile, he left the lounge, leaving a grunting Husk and a smiling Niffty.
Once he reached Anya's room, he opened the door and walked over to her bed, where he gently placed her down and covered her with the blanket.
Dust saw her turn to the side and briefly reach out her hand to where his physical contact had last been, as if she was still searching for made him smile widely, before he turned and headed for the door, looking at her once more before closing the door.
Anya briefly opened one of her eyes towards the door and smiled slightly, before closing it and going back to sleep.
03/12/2025: And this was the last day of Anya's adaptation week. The next chapter will finally be about the first episode of the first season of the series. As I said before, it may take longer to post, but I will make sure to do my best on it. I hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned until then.
