After some more days of traveling, the gang has finally reached the Lakeside Resort. A huge hotel, where they will be staying for the duration of the Sinnoh Grand Festival which will be held in a Contest Hall built right on the shore of Lake Valor.

The past few days, after Ash had Rico arrested; have been eventful for Ash, Lillie, and Dawn.

The first thing that happened is that Ash, and the girls run into a Heatran.

Coming across a Legendary Pokémon is rare. Really rare. As such, when trainers come across one, they usually try to use the opportunity to show their skills as trainers, and their Pokémon's powers. They do that by trying to defeat, and capture the legendary Pokémon.

Dawn saw Heatran, and loved it instantly, as it's a part Steel Type. She so wanted to catch that Heatran right then, and there, but she was smart, and realistic. She knew that while her Pokémon are reasonably powerful, they are not strong enough to defeat a Legendary Pokémon, unless she uses most, if not all of them, one after the other.

Still, this was an opportunity which doesn't show itself very often, and while Dawn knew that she won't be able to defeat Heatran, that doesn't mean that she can't at least battle against it, and see how she will do. Not to mention that it will be a great way to train her Pokémon.

As such, Dawn approached to Heatran, and challenged it to a battle. She even said that she won't catch it, but she still wants to battle against it.

Heatran accepted, so the battle started as soon as Dawn chose her first Pokémon, which was her Swampert.

As a Water, and Ground Type Pokémon, Swampert has a level of resistance against a Fire, and Steel Type Pokémon, like Heatran. The power of Heatran' attacks should be considerably weaker when they hit Swampert, then they usually would. As such, Dawn thought that it was a perfect Pokémon to battle with.

During the battle – which started as soon as Dawn sent her Swampert to the battlefield – it was proven that Dawn has chosen a good Pokémon. Swampert was able to hold his own for a while, and even land an attack or two, on Heatran. He even dealt some damage.

Unfortunately, even with resistance, Swampert was considerably weaker then Heatran, which led to his loss. He was defeated by a surprising move, which is a Solar Beam. It was surprising because, while Heatran can learn it, neither Dawn, nor Lillie, nor Ash, have expected it.

Dawn's next Pokémon was her Buneary.

She showed her speed, and great skill at jumping and dodging, but unfortunately, her attack power wasn't great, as her strongest attack move is Ice Beam, and it was useless against a Fire Type Pokémon.

Thus, Buneary also lost. She was taken out by a Flash Cannon.

After that second battle, Dawn decided that she will only have one more battle. If she losses, she will quit it.

She went, and sent out her Piplup. Against a Fire, and Steel Type like Heatran, a Water Type Pokémon, is a good choice.

The battle lasted longer than the ones before. Piplup did better than Buneary, and Swampert, and kept hitting Heatran with many attacks. He fired Hydro Pump, Whirlpool, and even used Peck. They all hit Heatran, and dealt it more, and more damage.

Of course, Heatran' attacks also hit Piplup, and dealt him damage. Several times, Piplup used Protect, so he saved himself from more damage, but he still suffered significant damage from being hit by Flash Cannon, Magma Storm, and Iron Head.

Piplup was able to use Bide, at one point in battle, where he gathered the energy from being hit by Solar Beam, and Flash Cannon, and then shot all that energy at Heatran. It almost defeated the Legendary Pokémon, but it was able to stand up, and use one final attack. It's trump card, which has shocked even Ash.

It was an Eruption. An attack, which Heatran shouldn't be able to learn. Yet, it did, and it used it as its final attack against Piplup, and managed to defeat him.

Piplup was defeated, and Heatran was left standing, though barely. Dawn knew that if she was to send one more Pokémon, she would be able to defeat Heatran, but in the end, she decided not to do that. She saw no purpose to battle against an opponent who is at its last leg. She wasn't going to catch it anyway.

After the battle ended, Dawn, Lillie, and Ash treated Heatran' wounds, after which Heatran took some rest, and then it was on its way, while Ash, Lillie, and Dawn went on their own way.

Lillie was somewhat disappointed that she couldn't battle against Heatran. She really wanted to, as battling against a very powerful Fire Type Pokémon, would help a lot to her Ice Type Pokémon.

Unfortunately, Heatran wasn't able to battle anymore after it battled against Dawn, so Lillie had to let it go.

Her chance to fight against a strong opponent, came a day after Dawn's battle against Heatran.

At that day, the gang run into Bertha, a member of Sinnoh Elite Four.

It was Ash who recognized the older woman, but it was Lillie who challenged her to a battle, before Ash could. Lillie has already battled against Flint, and defeated him in a one-on-one battle. Now, she wanted to battle against Bertha, but in a three-on-three battle.

Bertha saw the fire in Lillie's eyes, not to mention that she was impressed that Lillie defeated Flint, even if it's just one-on-one battle, and not against his strongest Pokémon. As such, she accepted to battle against Lillie.

In their battle, Bertha used Gliscor, Golem, and Hippowdon. With those three Pokémon, she has proven her skills as a Ground Type trainer, who has been a member of the Elite Four, for a very long time.

Lillie has used her Aerodactyl, Alolan Ninetales, and Piloswine. She didn't want to use her Pidgeot, as she has used her against Flint. Now, she wanted to try something else.

The first battle was between Bertha's Gliscor, and Lillie's Aerodactyl.

The two Pokémon can both fly, so they were at an even ground. Their power was leaned more toward Gliscor, who has more training, but the physical power is on Aerodactyl's side.

As such, for the most part of the battle, it was even. Eventually though, Gliscor's higher endurance was able to overcome Aerodactyl's, which led to Gliscor winning the battle by using Guillotine.

The next round was between Bertha's Golem, as she decided to switch her tired Gliscor; and on the other side, Lillie chose her Piloswine.

Both Pokémon were part Ground type, and Bertha was really interested in seeing what Lillie can do in this round.

The round started with Piloswine using Ice Shard, but Golem countered with Rock Blast, which neutralized Lillie's attack.

Piloswine used, Take Down, but Bertha's Golem used Double Team, as it created two more copies of itself. Piloswine passed through one of the copies, missing the real Golem. Then, Golem attacked with Dynamic Punch, hitting Piloswine, and dealing it major damage.

Still, Piloswine was not defeated, as it got up, and used Earthquake.

Golem used Magnitude, which led to both Pokémon causing the ground to shake to the extremes. The whole area was destroyed, as the trenches, and holes were created all over the area. They were all lucky that they were outside of any inhabited area. If they were in some town… they would cause major damage.

When it comes to major damage, both Pokémon received it from their attacks, as Piloswine fell into a hole, while Golem fell into a trench.

Luckily for Lillie, her Piloswine knows Dig, so he was able to get out of the hole, and back to the ground level.

As for Golem, it showed how well it was trained, at least physically, as he was able to jump high enough – even with its great weight – and come out of the trench.

Golem used Stone Edge, but Piloswine used Protect, which saved it from being damaged even more. Then, Piloswine used Ice Shard, which did hit Golem, dealing it damage.

Golem used Earth Power, causing the ground under Piloswine to explode, causing even more damage to Lillie's Pokemon. Golem followed it up with Dynamic Punch, which brought Piloswine to the ground, and left him barely able to move.

Bertha decided to end the round, with her Golem using Stone Edge.

Somehow, Piloswine was able to stand up, and just before he was about to be hit by the Stone Edge, Lillie told him to use Fissure.

Piloswine lifted his front legs up, and then stomped back on the ground, creating a crack, and an energy beam to flow through the crack, and hit Golem, just a second after the Stone Edge hit Piloswine.

Both Pokémon were left unable to battle, even though seconds earlier, it looked-like Bertha was going to win. Unfortunately for her, Piloswine's one-hit KO, allowed him to pull a draw.

Lillie actually apologized to Bertha for using such an attack, but Bertha told her not to apologize, as she didn't do anything wrong. In fact, it was Bertha who made a mistake of underestimating Lillie, and Piloswine, when she already thought that she has won the round. Finally, she told Lillie, that she will be able to catch everyone off guard with a move like Fissure.

Both trainers returned their Golem, and Piloswine, and at the same time, released their third Pokémon. Bertha released her Hippowdon, which she admitted is her second strongest Pokémon.

Lillie released her Alolan Ninetales, and said that she is her second strongest Pokémon. As soon as Alolan Ninetales came onto the battlefield, a hailstorm surrounded the whole area, due to Ninetales' Snow Warning Ability.

Bertha smiled when she saw this, and accepted the fact that Lillie is an amazing Pokémon Trainer. Bertha also knew that her Hippowdon is weak against Ice Type attacks, which means that as long as the hailstorm lasts, which is as long as Alolan Ninetales is on the battlefield; her Hippowdon will receive damage.

This final battle lasted the longest. It became obvious during the match that Hippowdon was stronger of the two Pokémon, but due to the Snow Warning, and Snow Cloak, another of Alolan Ninetales' ability, which raised her evasion during the hailstorm; the two Pokémon were near evenly matched.

Bertha' Hippowdon also used Dig, a bunch of times, which made it a bit difficult for Lillie to battle against him, since he would go underground, and then pup-out right next to Alolan Ninetales, and then use an attack.

At the end of the battle, Hippowdon used Fire Fang on Alolan Ninetales, dealing it heavy damage, and leaving her near defeat.

With the last of her power, Alolan Ninetales used Ice Beam, which struck Hippowdon, and froze it.

Then, Ninetales fell on the ground, passed out, before it was revealed that Hippowdon has also passed out.

Thus, the round was declared another draw, but due to her win on the first round, Bertha was declared the winner of the match.

Bertha congratulated Lillie on a great battle, and told her that she has a bright future ahead of herself.

After that, the gang parted ways with Bertha, before they continued their journey.

The next important thing which happened, was in the Arrowroot Town, two days after Lillie's battle against Bertha. There was a Pokémon Contest being held there the same day Ash, Lillie, and Dawn arrived.

As Dawn already has five ribbons, she doesn't need more of them, so she decided to sit this one down.

Right after Dawn decided that, she was approached by a Princess Salvia. A girl who looks so much like Dawn that they could easily pass as twins.

The princess admitted that she is Dawn's big fan, and that she has always wanted to enter into a contest, but due to her duties as a princess, she never had a chance.

So, Salvia asked Dawn to disguise as her, so that she can compete in the Arrowroot Contest, while Dawn will take Salvia's place as a Princess.

Dawn, being a nice person that she is, accepted to act as a princess for a part of the day, while Salvia dressed in Dawn's cloths, and entered into the Arrowroot Contest.

Another familiar face which entered the Arrowroot Contest, was Jessie. She has four ribbons, and only needs one more to be able to enter the Sinnoh Grand Festival. As such, she wasn't very happy to see – who she assumed to be Dawn – compete in another contest, when she doesn't even need a ribbon. Jessie admitted to herself that Dawn is good, and that with her in the contest, Jessie's chances were lower than they would be without Dawn competing.

Princess Salvia, and Jessie have both passed the appeal round, and went into a battle rounds.

During the battle rounds, Dawn was also at the stadium, dressed as a Princess Salvia, and was watching the battle rounds of the contest, which led to the final match between Salvia, dressed as Dawn; and Jessie, as her opponent.

The battle was quite good. Princess used her Togekiss, while Jessie used her Seviper.

Princess had some trouble during the final match, as it was her first one, while Jessie had a lot of experience as a trainer, and a coordinator. In the end, though, Salvia pulled a win, which won her, her first contest and her first ribbon, though everyone assumed it was Dawn who won her sixth ribbon.

After the battle, Salvia, still dressed like Dawn, approached Jessie in the back stage. She told her that she is a fan, and she respects her accomplishments. Then, much to Jessie's shock, Salvia gave her the ribbon she just won, which means that Jessie now has five ribbons, and can enter the Sinnoh Grand Festival.

Jessie was very shocked by how Dawn acted – which is like she hasn't even met her – which is strange. She was also shocked that Dawn just gave her the ribbon – even though Dawn doesn't really need it.

At the end of the day, once Dawn was back in her cloths, and Princess Salvia was a princess again, she thanked Dawn for doing her this favor, and then asked Dawn to take Togekiss, and use it as her own Pokémon. She did this because Togekiss is very well trained, and deserves to compete in the contests, which is something that Salvia can't give it, while Dawn can.

Dawn happily accepted to become Togekiss' new trainer.

The next day, the gang left Arrowroot Town, and continued their journey toward Valor Lakefront.

It took a little bit of time for Dawn to learn how Togekiss works.

As a Pokémon trained by a Princess, Togekiss was a bit different then the Pokémon, Dawn has trained. As such, Dawn had to learn all the things Togekiss knows, as well as its battle, and performance style.

This has only taken a single day, but it was a very long day.

Five days after the Arrowroot Contest, the gang has finally reached the Valor Lakefront.

Right now, they are at the Lakeside Resort, where a meet-and-greet is being held. Its – kind of – a party for those participating in the Grand Festival. Of course, there are a few people, like Ash, and Lillie, who won't be competing, but are friends with someone who will, so they are also there.

While at the meet-and-greet, the gang saw Nando, who was revealed to have earned five ribbons, and will compete at the Grand Festival.

Nando has given a statement for the, 'Sinnoh Now', before he was approached by Ash, Lillie and Dawn, who greeted him.

Seeing Dawn, Rhonda from 'Sinnoh Now', wanted a statement from her, which Dawn gave her.

Minutes later, Ash, Lillie, and Dawn were speaking with Nando.

"I had a tough time deciding whether to pursue gym battles, or contests, but thanks' to you guys, I chose both," Nando said. "As such, thank you for helping me chose my path."

"It's fine," Dawn smiled. "We were glad we could help you."

"What about your gym battles," Ash asked? "How's that going?"

Nando pulled out his badge case, and showed seven ribbons inside it. "As you can see, I have seven badges, which means that I only need one more in order to enter the Sinnoh League."

Ash nodded. "I need one more, while Lillie has all eight," he said. "I was supposed to get it in Sunyshore City, but there was a problem there, so I will have to wait until after the Grand Festival."

"Oh," Nando exclaimed. "What happened, if it's no much to ask?"

Ash went and explained what happened, from the arrival in the Sunyshore City, all the way until they left.

"I can't believe that you were able to win a match against Flint," Nando said to Lillie. "I'm really impressed."

Lillie smiled awkwardly. "Well, I used my strongest Pokémon, while Flint didn't," she said. "I only won because of that."

"Doesn't matter," Nando shock his head. "None of the members of Elite Four have weak Pokémon. To defeat even one, is a great achievement."

"I guess you are right." Lillie smiled.

The talk with Nando was interrupted by Kenny, when showed up behind Dawn, wearing a large smile on his face, He called Dawn, Dee Dee, annoying her and her Piplup, who was in her arms.

"Hey, Kenny," Ash spoke to the younger kid. "Long time no see."

"Hey, Ash." Kenny greeted back.

"Kenny is from Twinleaf Town, just like Dawn," Lillie explained to Nando. "They are childhood friends."

"I'm going to win this with my great new fusion move." Kenny said to Dawn, and Ash.

"What kind of fusion move?" Dawn said.

"You'll have to wait and see, Dee Dee, dear." Kenny said.

"Then, that's exactly what I'll do." Dawn said.

"Wait, what happened to you whining, 'my name is Dawn'?" Kenny asked with a surprised look on his face.

"That's so old," Dawn smiled. "I got over that whole 'Dee Dee' thing, a long time ago. And, I'm not even afraid of Plusle, and Minun."

Suddenly, a Plusle, and Minun jumped from behind Dawn, and settled on her shoulders. They sparkled with electricity, before they blew up, and Dawn's hair turned diamond sparkly.

"See," Dawn spoke to Kenny, while getting her hair back in order. "No need to worry."

"Congrats, Dawn." Kenny said.

"Wait," Dawn suddenly said, as she looked at the Plusle, and Minun. "Aren't these two…?"

"Those are my little ones." Ursula said, as she appeared out of nowhere.

Dawn was surprised to see Ursula.

"Dawn, I'm counting on you to make us all look good, today." Ursula said, just as her Plusle, and Minun jumped from Dawn, and on their trainer's shoulder. Then, she turned around, and left.

"Sounds like she doesn't like you very much." Kenny said to Dawn.

"Yeah… I guess she doesn't." Dawn said.

Zoey showed up next, as she greeted Dawn. The two of them spoke, before Ash, Lillie, Kenny, and Nando approached them, which led to a group conversation, which then led to Dawn and Zoey speaking about meeting in the finals, while Kenny proclaimed that he will be the one to win the whole thing, and become a Top Coordinator.

Poor, delusional fool.

Not really surprising is the fact that Jessie is also there. Along with her is Meowth, though why he is there, is unknown.

Just like, Nando, and Dawn; Jessie also gave a comment for the 'Sinnoh Now'.

Later that night, on the balcony of Dawn's room in the Lakeside Resort; Dawn, Lillie, and Ash are there along with the six Pokémon, Dawn has chosen for the Grand Festival.

So far, Dawn has 12 Pokémon in total, but out of those 12, only six are the interested in contests, the other six are mostly staying at Professor Rowan's Lab.

The team she has with her are: Piplup, Pachirisu, Mamoswine, Buneary, Cyndaquil, and Togekiss. They are the six Pokémon, which Dawn uses in the contests.

Forretress, Onix, Gible, Cubone, Metagross, and Swampert, are more into battles, then contests, thus, they are waiting for their chance, which will come once Dawn starts to challenge the Gym's, on her road to become the Pokémon Master, on top of being a Top Coordinator.

With her six Pokémon chosen, and all released on the balcony; Dawn thanked them for their hard work in getting the five ribbons. She also thanked Ash, and Lillie for their help, before she, and her Pokémon promised to give it their all to win the Sinnoh Grand Festival.

The next day, it was finally time for the Sinnoh Grand Festival to start.

The Contest Hall is full with people who came to watch the show, among which, are Ash, and Lillie.

Down on the field, Marian is announcing the start of the contest.

Of to the side of the field, the three judges of the contest are seating, and waiting for the contest to start, so they can watch, and eventually decide which 32 coordinators will go to the next round. Surprisingly, the Nurse Joy who was one of the judges in the Sinnoh Grand Festival, is actually from the Lilycove City in the Hoenn Region. To help with the judging, she has called her sisters from the Pastoria City, and the Jubilife City. Finally, as a special guest judge, is Fantina, the gym leader from the Hearthome City.

Ash actually groaned when he saw Fantina, while Lillie smiled. "With Fantina here, it must mean that her gym is closed," Ash said, before he scoffed. "She's worse than Volkner."

Lillie actually laughed at that.

"Without further ado, time for the performance stage," Marian said! "We'll have three stages operating today, the blue, red, and green stages, running simultaneously! In addition, there will be two judges officiating, on each of the performance stage! There is a single Nurse Joy for each stage, and with each of them is one other judge, them being Fantina, Mr. Sukizo, and Mr. Contesta."

As the Grand Festival started, Ursula went first, as she released two Eevee, at the same time.

She started the presentation with both Eevee using Iron Tail, and smashed it several times against each other. Then, they used Hidden Power, as they floated mid-air in front of each other, and created light orbs around themselves.

Much to everyone's surprise, what followed was Ursula pulling two evolution stones, and tossed them into the air, toward her two Eevee. Each Eevee took one stone in their mouth, while still being surrounded by the lights created by the Hidden Power. The two Eevee ended up evolving right there in front of the shocked, but also cheering crowd.

One Eevee evolved into a Vaporeon, and the other into a Flareon.

Even after they evolved, the two Eevee were still surrounded with Hidden Power, now though, the light orbs around Flareon, were red and orange; while the orbs around Vaporeon are light blue.

The two Eeveelutions flew around each other, before they launched the orbs into the air, from where they fell all over the stage, while Ursula stood at the stage, her hands raised into the air, and with a smile on her face.

Vaporeon, and Flareon came back to the stage, and stood in front of Ursula, who bowed for the crowd, as her presentation was finished.

The crowd loved it as they cheered for Ursula. The judges, which on that stage were Mt. Contesta, and one of the Nurse Joy's, also loved it, as they praised Ursula, her Pokémon, and their presentation.

In the backstage, Dawn, Kenny, and Zoey, were impressed by what Ursula has done, and were sure that she will receive high marks for the show she has put up.

XXX

On the green field, Nando has put on an amazing show with his Altaria, and Kricketot, who were using Perish Song, and Sing.

It was amazing, and beautiful. Everyone liked it, and many were impressed.

XXX

Jessie had her turn, where she used her Seviper, and Yanmega.

Many other contestants had their turn after Jessie. Then, it was Zoey's turn.

For Zoey's presentation, the field has to be changed, as she needed a pool due to her Lumineon, and Gastrodon.

She had her Lumineon use Aqua Ring, mid-air, before she had Gastrodon use Water Pulse, to break the Aqua Ring, which led to the creation of three water rings floating mid-air. Lumineon then jumped from the pool, and through the rings. Then Gastrodon did the same, before the rings moved and floated above the pool. Then, three whirlpools shot through the rings and spun mid-air, while Zoey, Gastrodon, and Lumineon stood, one on each of the upward-spinning whirlpools.

XXX

Kenny went next on the red stage, and used his Empoleon, and Floatzel. At first, he made an amazing show, which everyone liked. He made a mistake in the end, when he tried the new fusion move he was working on. He tried it, without it being perfected, and it led to a fail.

XXX

After Kenny; Dawn had her chance to show-off on a green stage, by using Cyndaquil, and Buneary.

Buneary went first, and used Ice Beam to create an ice roller-coaster. Then, Cyndaquil used Flame Wheel, and went over the roller-coaster, which shaped it into a slide, which allowed Buneary to slide over the roller-coaster, right behind Cyndaquil.

Next, Buneary used Ice Beam, while Cyndaquil used Smokescreen to cover her up, which prevented everyone to see what's going on.

This has caused the judges to frown, while Zoey seemed concerned about the fact that Dawn's Pokémon have disappeared inside the Smokescreen. Ursula, though, she smiled, as she mocked Dawn.

Cyndaquil then used the fire on his back, which took a form of wings, and dispersed the Smokescreen. It also revealed Cyndaquil was standing on top of an Ice sphere, inside of which was Buneary. The sphere itself was standing on top of an ice pillar created by Buneary's first Ice Beam, when she also created the roller-coaster.

The crowd loved Dawn's show, and even the judges loved it, even though they thought that Dawn has made a mistake with the Smokescreen. In the end, though, the Smokescreen did have its purpose.

XXX

With Dawn finishing her presentation, the appeal round was over.

Ash, and Lillie, along with Piplup, have joined Dawn in the backstage, where they are all waiting for the results of the appeal round.

Just like they were waiting, so were all the other coordinators, among which were Zoey, Nando, Jessie, Kenny, and Ursula.

Finally, after a few minutes of waiting, the 32 coordinators moving to the next round, were revealed on the large screen TV

Dawn was on the list, along with Zoey, Nando, Jessie, and Ursula. Unfortunately, the mistake he made with the fusion move, has cost Kenny his chance to go to the next round.

Kenny didn't make it, but he did approach Dawn, and Zoey, and congratulated them on passing into the next round.

XXX

At the end of the day, Kenny has decided to leave, so he can start training for the next Grand Festival. He didn't' want to waste any time, and wants to be prepared, so he won't make any mistakes.

Dawn, Ash, Lillie, and Zoey, saw him off, and wished him good luck on his training. Kenny also wished good luck to Dawn, and Zoey in the Grand Festival.

And with that, Kenny left.

The next morning, Dawn started with her training very early.

The Grand Festival has already started, so there isn't much she can do, or change, but she can make sure that her Pokémon are ready for everything.

Just like Dawn; Ash, and Lillie were also training.

Ash was working with his Gible, on the Draco Meter, and it was still going as badly as always. They even had to move away from Dawn, and Piplup, so that the failed Draco Meter won't be hitting Piplup.

Lillie was also training on her own, and away from Ash, and Dawn, so that her training won't interfere with theirs.

Nando, and Zoey approached Dawn while she was training, and they spoke for a little while about the Grand Festival.

XXX

Later that day, it was finally time for the continuation of the Grand Festival.

Dawn, Zoey, Nando, Jessie, and Ursula were ready, and waiting for their turn in the backstage.

Regardless of what Ash told her, Ursula just can't help herself, and just has to tease Dawn. It's like that's all she can think of.

Seeing this, Ash decided to fight back, and tease Ursula, just like he told her he would do, when they saw each other the last time.

"Hey Ursula," Ash called the pink-haired girl, and drew her attention. She looked at him, and saw a smirk on Ash's face. "Remember what I told you the last time?" Ash questioned.

Ursula heard Ash's question, and blushed immediately. She remembered very well, what Ash did, and said.

She turned around, and moved away, without saying anything to anyone.

"What was that about?" Dawn asked, Ash.

Ash smiled. "Oh… I just had a small talk with Ursula awhile back. Don't worry about it."

Dawn had no idea what's going on between Ash, and Ursula. Lillie on the other hand, had her suspicions.

XXX

In the first match of the second round, Dawn and Ursula were chosen to go against each other… again. This match will be the third time the two of them have ended up battling, which is more than any other rival Dawn has had.

Dawn chose Pachirisu, and Mamoswine as her Pokémon; while Ursula chose Gabite, and Flareon.

The battle started right away.

(The battle went the same as it did in the anime, so I didn't write it. There was no point, as I didn't know what to change, nor did I see a reason to change anything)

In the backstage, Zoey, and Nando were standing together, and watched Dawn's, and Ursula's match. They were commenting about it, and were impressed with Dawn.

"To be able to use her opponents, Dig, the way Dawn did," Nando spoke, "who would have ever thought. A most interesting, and thoughtful looking battle."

"A rough start, but an awesome win for Dawn," Zoey said. "And now, this battle is behind her."

XXX

In one of the rooms in the stadium, Ursula was seating all alone. She was dressed back into her usual cloths, and her suitcase is behind her.

"But how… I lost," she couldn't believe the way she lost, an almost won match. "And after all of my brilliance."

"I agree," Dawn suddenly said from next to Ursula. She really came out of nowhere. "I didn't think I can win, until the very end. You were… awesome." Dawn said to Ursula, wearing a large smile on her face.

At first, Ursula was shocked, but then she smiled, and turned into her usual, overconfident self. "Right," she said with a smile, as she stood up. "I was awesome. You're victory today was dumb luck, and we know it. Now we'll see how far that dumb luck will take you.

"See you later… Dee Dee." And with that, Ursula took her suitcase, and walked away, leaving Dawn behind. Dawn was surprised for a few seconds, before she sighed.

Dealing with Ursula is really hard.

XXX

When Ursula exited the room she was in with Dawn, she was shocked when she was suddenly pulled, and pressed into the wall. She looked up, and saw Ash, standing in front of her, and wearing a smirk on his face.

"W-What are you d-doing?" Ursula stuttered out, while her face started to heat-up, due to how Ash has her back pressed to the wall, while his own body is pressing into her front. She had nowhere to go, and she knew it.

"You teased Dawn, even though I told you to drop it," Ash said to Ursula, while smiling. "I also told you, if you tease her, I'll tease you."

Ursula narrowed her eyes at him. "And how will you do that," She asked, defiantly? "And why do you care so much about her? It seems more than one friend cares for another."

Ash's eyes flashed for a moment, somethin that Ursula noticed, and it made her shiver. "She doesn't know it yet… but Dawn is mine," Ash said to Ursula, making her gasp in shock. "As for 'what I'll do to you'… I'll do this." He said, before he kissed Ursula right on the lips, shocking her even more.

Ursula tried to fight back, and push Ash off of herself, but she couldn't even make him budge. It was like she was trying to push a wall.

She tried to push Ash off of her for about a minute, before she realized she can't do it. She also realized that she likes the kiss, and then she let herself go, and kissed back.

Zoey, Nando, and Jessie, have won their matches in the Top 32 round, which allowed them to pass into the Top 16 round.

And so, with the Top 32 round ending, the second day of the Grand Festival also ended.

At the end of the day, Ash, and Lillie congratulated Dawn, and told her that with Nando, Zoey, and even Jessie in the next round, she will have to be careful, and prepared to face them.

The third day were the battles of Top 16, and the quarterfinals round.

Nando won both of his battles, using music as a theme.

Zoey also passed into the semifinal, showing of her Pokémon to the max, while executing her impressive battles flawlessly.

Dawn worked in perfect sync with her Pokémon, which allowed her to get to the semifinal. Many have wondered if she will be able to live-up to the reputation of her mother, and Top Coordinator, Johanna.

And the final semifinalist, was Jessie. She is a very beautiful, and athletic coordinator, who is truly unique, and far beyond limitations.

"These four will compete in the semifinal, to see who will advance to the final round!" Marian spoke, as the large screen above the arena showed the pairings for the semifinal match.

"Join us again tomorrow, for all the action!" Marian said, as the screen showed that the first pair in the semifinal, is Dawn going up against Zoey; while the second match is Jessie, against Nando.

The night after the third day of the Grand Festival, Dawn was seating on the balcony of her room, with her Piplup.

She was approached by Ash, and Lillie, who gave her support for her upcoming battle against Zoey.

"This is your chance, Dawn," Ash told her. "You've never defeated Zoey, so and this is a chance you've been waiting for."

"You are right, Ash," Dawn said. "This is my chance to show what I've got, and to finally defeat Zoey. Then, it will be a final match against Nando, or Jessie."

Ash nodded, before he frowned. "Be careful, is you fight against Jessie," Ash told her, much to Dawn's, and Lillie's surprise.

"Why?" Dawn asked. "Is it because she's your enemy?"

"No," Ash said. "I've seen Meowth with her. That Meowth was strong enough to almost defeat Cresselia. If she uses him in a battle against you… you will be in a lot of trouble, because he is around the same level as that Heatran, you fought against few days ago."

Dawn was very shocked to hear that. Even Lillie was surprised.

"Then, how do I deal with him?" Dawn asked.

"Meowth is a Normal Type Pokémon, which means that, type-wise, his only weakness are Fighting Type Pokémon," Ash said.

"But I don't have any Fighting Type Pokémon." Dawn said.

"I know," Ash said. "But while Meowth only has one weakness, he is only resistant to Ghost Type Pokémon. It means that all the other types, will deal him damage. Not a lot, but there will still be damage. As such, you should go with your strongest Pokémon."

"Piplup is my strongest Pokémon," Dawn said. "Togekiss is probably second… but I planned to use them in the semifinal against Zoey. I don't think that they'll be able to fight in the final match, right after the semifinal."

"They will have to," Ash said to Dawn, while looking at Piplup. "Otherwise, you will have no chance against Meowth."

Dawn frowned.

The final day of the Sinnoh Grand Festival has finally arrived.

The contest hall is full to the brim, and there isn't a single empty seat. The crowd is cheering for the four remaining contestants, and can't wait for the first semifinal match, between Dawn, and Zoey, to start.

The two coordinators were already on the field, ready to start the match.

Marian announced the start, as the five minutes countdown, has started.

Dawn went and released her Piplup, and Togekiss; while Zoey released Glameow, and Gallade.

Dawn started the match with her Piplup jumping on the back of Togekiss, before Togekiss flew in the air. Then, Togekiss used Aura Sphere, which she launched toward Zoey's Pokémon. Piplup followed the Aura Sphere, with Bubble Beam. The bubbles flew, and surrounded the Aura Sphere.

Zoey countered this with Glameow used Shadow Claw, and cut the Aura Sphere in half, causing it to explode. Gallade followed with Psycho Cut, and dived straight into the smoke cloud created by the explosion. It swung it's blades through the smoke, dispersing it, but also cutting the Bubble Beam, which caused light particles to fall over the battlefield.

Dawn lost some points due to Zoey's moves, which led to her being the first to lose points.

Dawn decided to go on an offensive, and had her Togekiss fly around, to confuse her opponents. Then, she wanted Piplup to use Hydro Pump, but Zoey shocked her with her Glameow, as she used Fake Out, a priority move, which led to Piplup being unable to use Hydro Pump. It also led to Dawn losing points.

Zoey attacked next, as she had her Gallade use Vacuum Wave. Gallade started to spin around, and created a tornado, with Gallade inside of it. It went toward Togekiss, but Togekiss dodged it, much to Zoey's shock. Then, Togekiss used Air Slash, and threw it at Gallade.

Gallade dodged, though, so it was left unharmed.

Zoey was surprised by Togekiss' agility, and realized that she will have problems due to the fact that her Pokémon, can't fly.

This last moves led to Zoey, and Dawn both loosing points, making this the first points Zoey has lost.

Zoey went to attack again. Her Gallade used Signal Beam, while Glameow used Iron Tail. Surprisingly, the Signal Beam didn't go toward Dawn's Pokémon, but instead hit Glameow' Iron Tail.

Glameow started to spin her tail, which caused the Signal Beam to start spreading around upwards, glowing beautifully, and increasing in size.

Dawn had Piplup use Whirlpool, which Zoey tried to break apart with her Glameow controlling the Signal Beam with her tail. Dawn added the Aura Sphere, into the Whirlpool, which caused the Whirlpool to become stronger, and spin faster.

Dawn's, and Zoey's moves collided mid-air, and exploded in a shower of multicolored fireworks.

Again, the moves were judged equally, so both trainers lost the same amount of points. Dawn has now lost half of her total points, while Zoey only lost a quarter.

Gallade used Swords Dance, to increase its attack power. Dawn countered with her Togekiss using Safeguard, which made sparkly lights around Togekiss, making her look beautiful, and causing Zoey to lose some points.

The battle went for some time after that, as both trainers showed of their Pokémon.

With half a minute left on the clock, and Zoey having a bit more points, Dawn had her Togekiss used Sky Attack, while Piplup stood on top of Togekiss' head, and used Peck.

The speed with which Togekiss was moving, plus Piplup's beak extending, has caused the aura around the two of them to turn red, as the move gained unbelievable power.

This led to Zoey losing some points, and for the first time in the match, Dawn had advantage in points, and there was only 20 seconds left.

Zoey tried to counter, as she had her Gallade use Psycho Cut, while Glameow used Thunderbolt. Gallade's arm blades glowed, and extended, before it jumped on Glameow' tail. At that moment, Glameow used Thunderbolt, which shocked Gallade, and caused it pain, but it also caused its arm blades to harden, and gain more power.

Gallade jumped in the air, and started to swing its arm blade, sending circular energy waves toward Togekiss, and Piplup.

Dawn's Pokémon, and Gallade's attack went straight at each other, and just as it looked like they are about to collide, Dawn told Togekiss to spin.

Showing its great flying skills, and unbelievable maneuverability, Togekiss spun to the side, and did a complete turn mid-air. This led to Togekiss, and Piplup dodging Gallade's attack, and continued to fly toward the still-air born Gallade.

Zoey's Psychic Type Pokémon could only widen its eyes, along with its trainer, as Togekiss and Piplup slammed into Gallade, with great speed and power.

Gallade was sent flying backwards to the ground, and all the way behind Zoey.

Zoey watched in shock as her Gallade fell on the field, rolled over it, until it crashed into the wall of the bleachers.

Togekiss stopped flying, and floated in the air. Piplup was on top of her head, as the two of them were looking toward Gallade.

At that moment, everyone was looking at Gallade, but then there was a ding, which announced that the time is up.

At the same time as the time run out, everyone was able to see that Gallade has passed out.

The large screen also showed that Zoey has lost all of her points, while Dawn still had some left.

The whole arena cheered as Marian announced Dawn as the winner of the match, and the first finalist of the Sinnoh Grand Festival.

"With an unbelievable move that Togekiss has performed in the end, Dawn has won the first semifinal match, and is going to the final round!" Marian announced loudly, through the cheering of the fans.

Dawn run to her Togekiss and Piplup, and hugged them, while wearing a large smile on her face, which was mimicked by her Pokémon.

Zoey sighed as she lost. Her Pokémon looked just as sad, but she smiled at them, and thanked them for a great battle. She also promised them that the next time, they will win.

"Congratulations, Dawn," Zoey said to her friend. "That was an amazing battle. And that move at the end… it was fantastic. I can't believe that Togekiss pulled that off at that speed."

Dawn smiled. "Thanks, Zoey," she said. "As for Togekiss… she is an amazing flyer, and performer. She just needs more battle experience, and she will be unbeatable."

Togekiss seemed happy to hear that.

The second semifinal match between Jessie, and Nando, started right after Zoey's, and Dawn' match.

Nando has used Lopunny, and Kricketune, against Jessie's Dustox, and Lickilicky.

The battle lasted the entire five minutes, as neither contestant was able to defeat their opponents. The fighting, and performance styles used by the two trainers, were very different. While Nando focused on his Pokémon' skills, and combination moves; Jessie primarily focused on her Pokémon power, with a little bit of combination moves.

In the end, Jessie was able to win, though barely. She has lost a lot of points just by Nando doing combination moves, and making his Pokémon look good. Jessie used pure power of her Pokémon, to take Nando's points. In the end, it paid off to her, though no one will say that the more skilled coordinator has won, but the one with more powerful Pokémon.

"Congratulations, Dawn," Lillie said to Dawn, after the semifinal match with Zoey has ended with Dawn's win. "That was an amazing match, and you pulled a shocking win in the end."

"Yes," Ash spoke as well. "And you were finally able to defeat Zoey. At the best time, as well."

"I'm happy that I won," Dawn said. Her Piplup was in her hands, and nodded. He was also happy, and seemed proud, as he puffed his chest. "But now the real battle starts. If you are right, I'm going to have a big problem with that Meowth."

Ash nodded. "It's going to be even worse if she used Meowth, and that Metagross, she used that one time against your Mamoswine. As a Steel and Psychic type, it's going to be very hard to defeat."

"I know," Dawn sighed, before she gained a confident look on her face. "I won't give up, though. I will give it my all, and I'm sure Piplup, and Togekiss will as well." Piplup nodded from Dawn's arms.

"Then, good luck." Lillie said. Ash also wished her good luck, before the two of them left the room, and returned to their seats, while Dawn stayed behind.

Two hours after the end of the semifinal matches, it was time for the final match of Sinnoh Grand Festival. A battle between two first-time coordinators, who were able to get to the final round of the Grand Festival through their skill – Dawn - and their Pokémon's power – Jessie.

Now, it was time to see which will come on top. A skill, and talent of a coordinator. Or the power of the Pokémon obtained through hard training.

Jessie, and Dawn were on the field, with Meowth standing next to Jessie, as he isn't her Pokémon, and doesn't have a Poke Ball.

Marian announced the match, as she usually does, before the five minutes on the clock have started to run out.

Dawn, and Jessie went, and released their Pokémon at the same time.

Jessie threw one Poke Ball in the air, and out of it came her Metagross, in a shower of lightning bolts. At the same time that Metagross appeared on the battlefield, Meowth jumped above Metagross, and kicked one of the lightning bolts, which then hit the others, and caused a fireworks above the battlefield.

Dawn's Piplup, and Togekiss came out of their Poke Balls at the same time, with Piplup appearing on top of Togekiss, who flew above the field with Piplup on top of her, while the light particles released from the seal on the Poke Balls, followed after then.

Eventually, after she took a turn around the arena, Togekiss settled down on the ground in front of Dawn, while Piplup jumped from Togekiss, and stood next to her.

Seeing Togekiss, and Piplup, left many people surprised. Dawn has used them in the semifinal round, and now she's using them again in the final round, only two hours later. It was strange, as she could have chosen two other Pokémon.

And so, the final match of the Sinnoh Grand Festival, has started.

Dawn started it, as she had her Togekiss fly in the air, and then use Aura Sphere to throw it at Meowth. Then, she had Piplup use Hydro Pump at the Aura Sphere, which caused it to gain more speed, and actually catch Meowth of guard.

Still, Meowth is quite fast, so he was able to dodge the Aura Sphere, and Hydro Pump. Then, Meowth used Swift, before Metagross used Psychic on the stars. Metagross gained control over the stars, and moved them at a much greater speed, as the stars started to rain down on Togekiss and Piplup, from all sides.

Piplup jumped on Togekiss, and then Piplup used Protect, to enclose himself, and Togekiss inside the green ball, which stopped the shower of stars, and caused explosions all over the air above the battlefield.

Togekiss, and Piplup were covered by the smoke, due to the explosion, so no one was able to see what happened. They were all able to see Protect used by Piplup, which is why Jessie lost some points.

Suddenly, from inside of the smoke, an Aura Sphere, and Hydro Pump flew toward Metagross, and Meowth.

Meowth reacted on time, and dodged the Aura Sphere, but Metagross was hit by a Hydro Pump.

One dodge, and one hit led to both Dawn and Jessie, losing some points. So far, three and a half minutes until the end of the battle, the two are about equal in points.

Jessie told Metagross to use Gyro Ball. Metagross extended its limbs, which then glowed. Metagross started to spin really fast, as it went toward Togekiss.

Jessie told Meowth to use Thunderbolt on Metagross, which Meowth did. He fired a very powerful Thunderbolt, which hit the spinning Metagross, and caused bolts of electricity to fly all over the field, so there was nowhere Togekiss, and Piplup could run away.

Togekiss and Piplup were heavily damaged from the super-effective electric type move, but they weren't defeated. Dawn has lost quite a number of points, which now leaves her with only half. Jessie still has a little over two thirds of her points.

Piplup and Togekiss managed to get up, before Piplup jumped on top of Togekiss, and she started to fly around while dodging a Thunderbolt from Meowth.

Metagross used Flash Cannon, but Togekiss dodged that as well. The two misses have lost Jessie some points, and now she is tied with Dawn.

Jessie told Meowth to jump after Togekiss, and then use Shadow Ball.

Meowth did just that, and jumped high up, right in front of Togekiss. She was surprised, but managed to spin, and try to move away from Meowth, but Meowth fired the Shadow Ball, and hit Piplup, causing him to fall on the ground.

As soon as Piplup fell on the ground, Jessie had Metagross use Hyper Beam. Jessie also told Meowth to use Thunderbolt, at the same time.

Both of Jessie's Pokémon fired their attacks at the same time, which caused Thunderbolt to fuse with Hyper Beam, creating a supercharged ray of energy, which was smaller than Hyper Beam, but much more powerful.

Dawn quickly told Piplup to use Bide. Piplup toughened up his body, as he started to glow. Then, he was hit by a very powerful attack which Metagross and Meowth fired. The attack caused an explosion, which engulfed Piplup, and prevented everyone to see what happened.

Dawn believed in her Pokémon, so while he was still under smoke, she told Togekiss to use Sky Attack on Meowth.

Togekiss flew toward Meowth, while surrounded with white aura. She was going very fast, but Meowth didn't seemed concerned. Then, suddenly, Metagross appeared in front of Meowth, while surrounded by orange and purple energy. It was using Giga Impact, and collided with Togekiss.

Both Pokémon were sent flying backwards form the force of the collision. Metagross was sent flying behind Meowth, while Togekiss fell inside the small cloud of smoke, which still surrounded Piplup.

By this point, a minute was left until the end of the match, and Jessie was in the lead. She has slightly less than half of her points, while Dawn has a quarter of hers.

Then, Dawn said to Piplup to fire.

The small cloud of smoke which was still around Piplup dispersed, as huge beam of white energy flew from his body, and straight toward Meowth, and Metagross.

Meowth was surprised by this, and was hit by Piplup's attack. Metagross, who was behind Meowth, was also hit, which caused a large explosion to engulf both Pokémon.

Jessie lost quite a few points, and is now tied with Dawn, with only half a minute left to the end of the match.

A huge Thunderbolt was fired by Meowth, who jumped up and away from the smoke. The surprising attack hit Piplup, and caused him to yell in pain. This was the second time in just few minutes to be hit by a Thunderbolt, and the damage is severe.

He wasn't giving up, though. He was damaged, and Dawn lost some points, but he was still in the game,

At that moment, Togekiss flew above Piplup, and fired an Aura Sphere at Meowth. It also allowed Piplup to, once again, jump on top of Togekiss.

Meowth dodged the attack, and then watched as Dawn told Togekiss to use Sky Attack, and Piplup to use Peck.

It was the same attack which ended the battle against Zoey, and Dawn wanted to try it once again. She really has nothing left, as she was losing, and there was only 10 seconds left.

As the two were flying toward Meowth, and Metagross, Togekiss suddenly started to spin. It also caused Piplup to spin, and the simply Peck, practically turned into a Drill Peck.

Jessie knew that if Meowth, and Metagross were hit by this, they were done for, so she tried to block it. She had Meowth jump toward the incoming 'drill of doom', and used Focus Punch, with all the power her had left.

Meowth hit Piplup right on the beak, and actually punched Piplup away from Togekiss. Togekiss though, continued to fly forward, and slammed into Meowth, at an amazing speed.

Both Piplup, and Meowth flew far into distance, all the way behind their trainers. They both fell on the ground, and rolled for several meters, until they finally stopped.

Togekiss was still in the air, while Metagross was floating above the field, using Magnet Rise.

Everyone wanted to know what happened, but then there was a ping, meaning that the match is over. Everyone looked toward the large screen, and saw that Dawn has lost all of her points, while Jessie has barely anything left.

It means that the match is over, and that Jessie has defeated Dawn, and won the Sinnoh Grand Festival, making her a Top Coordinator.

It was only at that point that everyone in the arena, finally noticed that Piplup, and Meowth are not getting up. Upon a closer look, they were both unconscious.

"Shame," Ash commented from the bleachers. Johanna, and Lillie seating next to him. "She gave it her all, but in the end, she couldn't win."

"That Metagross, and Meowth are very strong," Johanna commented. "Especially that Meowth. He must be at least an Elite Four level Pokémon, judging by the power behind the attacks he was using."

Johanna wasn't wrong. Ash, and Lillie knew that, though they didn't say anything. Especially Ash didn't want to tell Johanna that Jessie is a member of a criminal organization, and that she has spent five years in prison because she was a member of another criminal organization. Ash was sure that Johanna, regardless of her past, wouldn't take it well to know that someone like Jessie, has just won the Sinnoh Grand Festival, and became a Top Coordinator.

"Well, Dawn is not even 11 years old yet," Lillie said. "She has a long road ahead of her, and I'm sure that one day, she will become a Top Coordinator. Maybe even next year."

"Maybe," Ash agreed. "She has skill, now all she needs is a Pokémon powerful enough to go against Pokémon like Jessie's. They did amazing together, but Dawn needs a Pokémon on the level of Meowth. Only then, she will have a chance to become a Top Coordinator, and Elite Trainer.

Jessie was presented with a Victory Trophy. It was Fantina who gave it to her. The other judges, and Marian were all standing on the podium, surrounding Jessie on all sides.

Jessie held the trophy in her hands, as she smiled widely. She was proud of herself, and her success.

Meowth was standing next to Jessie. He was wearing a smile on his face, though he was slightly annoyed by all the people. He was also very annoyed by the fact that he was defeated by a Piplup, and Togekiss. He, who has forced a Cresselia, to run away from him, was defeated by a pair of first stage starter Pokémon, and bird.

He has decided right then, and there, that he will train harder from now on, and not allow something like this to happen again.

Later, Dawn exited the room where she changed her cloths, only to see Ash, Lillie, and Johanna, standing in front of the door.

Johanna was dressed in a deep V-neck blouse, white-colored. She's also wearing a tight jean pants, and finally, on her feet she has black hilled sandals. She has a neckless around her neck, while her wavy blue hair is tied in a loose bun, with a fringe covering her left eye.

Johanna is an epitome of beauty - which has attracted more attention upon herself while seating on the bleachers, and watching Dawn in the final match; then the battle itself has drawn.

Dawn saw her mother, and immediately jumped into her hug.

Ash saw Dawn, and Johanna hug, and started to get certain thoughts, which are not for small kids. Then again, he will make sure to turn those thoughts, into a reality.

None noticed an evil smirk which appeared on Ash's face.

"When did you get here," Dawn asked her mom, while still hugging her? Did you see the final stage?"

"I watched everything from the beginning, on TV," Johanna said. "I had to come, though, for the final match."

"Sorry I lost, mom." Dawn apologized.

"I'm still very proud of you, dear," Johanna said, with a smile. "You did amazing for your first appearance on the Grand Festival. You defeated Zoey, an amazing coordinator, and almost defeated someone who has such a powerful Pokémon. I can't ask, or expect more than that, for your first try."

"Thanks a lot, mom." Dawn said.

"Johanna is right, Dawn," Lillie said. "You did an amazing job training your Pokémon, and with all those combinations. Unfortunately, this time, the power won over skills. But the next time…"

"The next time… I will win," Dawn said with conviction, and with her right fist squeezed tightly. "For sure."

Dawn returned her mother the first ribbon she won, which Johanna gave to Dawn at the start of her journey. It has meant a lot to Dawn, and now she has returned it to her mother, as now she has her own ribbons, and confidence in herself.

Their conversation was interrupted by the Nurse Joy. She came and informed Ash that Volkner has called the Pokémon Center, and informed Nurse Joy that he is ready for the challengers, and that Ash is to be his first one.

As such, the next stop for the gang on their journey, is the Sunyshore City.

Later that day, as the sun was setting down, Dawn, and Zoey were talking over the experience at the Grand Festival. They were joined by Nando, who also talked with them, and revealed that he will train even more from now on, to prepare for the Sinnoh League. He only needs one more badge, so he will definitely be there.

Zoey has also revealed that she will head back to the Snowpoint City, where Candice is waiting for her to throw a big party for Zoey's success at the Grand Festival. She didn't win it, but she had reached the semifinals, and that's a great success.

After the small conversation, Nando and Zoey went their separate ways, while Dawn released her Pokémon, and promised them that they will work hard, and that one day, she will become a Top Coordinator.

Piplup, Buneary, Pachirisu, Mamoswine, Cyndaquil, and Togekiss, were very happy to hear that.
