I was at school getting ready to do a test. I attend Portland High School with my siblings including Carlos. I was at the voc-tech, but it's a long story.
It all started when I was friends with April, whom I knew since 4th grade. I recalled how happy April was when I told her I was moving here over the summer. Dad treated her to let her join us on the road trips.
I'm 14 and a freshman now. I had a lot going on at the beginning of the school year. Things changed a lot when she had a boyfriend, Andy. First off, she would have the habit to bring him over when Dad and Sharon weren't home and she knew this was not allowed. I was forced to keep quiet.
I was also friends with Rick and Jack, who tried to get me to try into it. I would decline because I knew they are bad for minors like my father taught me at a young age. Plus, Andy was involved with drugs. When I found out, I'd try to talk April, but she would shut me out. I'm normally not good at speaking up to myself, but I spoke up to her mom who was shocked. She was glad I said something. And, I got yelled at. I ended up taking a break from April. I added she should've thanked or apologized to me for giving me a hard time. I did missed the friendship, but I didn't regret for making that choice.
The last straw was when the guys stole my wallet while I was with them for dinner one day without knowing it. Thank goodness, it was returned to me, but it was torn and my money was missing. I ended their friendship. The other time is when I saw them on breaking news after killing a young couple who were due to get married. I was glad I saved April and myself.
I was looking forward to get into Fashion Design, but my grades were starting to go down (although they were improved) and I didn't want to be on the waiting list if my grades keep sliding. On top of that, I had a headache. I knew it was from stress.
During that time, Dad asked me if I would be okay if I changed schools. I was planning to see what would happen- especially while I was trying to help April. He knew why I didn't tell him about what the guys did to my wallet and he understands. And, I'm glad I choose to change schools and I'm much happier. My grades are doing better.
While this happened, I wished I was back at my old hometown in Stoneybrook. Kristy would not put up with this. She was surprised at April.
I still see my best friends, Kayla and Kaylee Willis, who are my next door neighbors. I still see Beth. They didn't blame me for doing that. They were the ones who warned me about the guys and I'm still thankful that they did. That's what I was trying to get April to see that she was lucky to have friends who cared about her.
April wants to fix the friendship, but I'm not ready. I also don't plan to go back to that voc-tech to avoid all that over again. Unfortunately, Kayla got ill not long ago. When she first got sick, I didn't know about it until April mentioned it. What I didn't know was that she was told not for a reason: It happened before a sleepover and I could see why, the Willis girls wanted me to enjoy it that weekend. Looking back, I knew they did the right thing. When they found out what April did, they got angry and didn't want to trust her for the time being.
After school, I was got off the bus. I collected the mail and went inside. Dawn is in cheerleading and Carlos have an away game. I noticed I had a letter from D.J. I'll read it later so I can do my homework first. After I did homework, I did chores. After all was done, I opened the letter.
Dear Mary Anne,
I was so glad to hear from you. I have an idea for a gift for Dawn's birthday. We can surprise her by spending the day at Disneyland. I will be sending you tickets when I mail her a birthday card. Be on the look out in a few days.
I'll be looking forward to see you girls.
Your friend, D.J.
P.S.: Don't show this letter to Dawn. I'll include my email address to discuss our plans even while Dawn's with you.
I never thought of doing that until D.J. told me what she's planning on doing. I was glad Dawn's not with us. This is a surprise. The girls and I plan to go with her during Winter Vacation. She is always in California to celebrate her birthday during Winter Break even though her birthday is in a few days. She's going to be 15. I discuss this with her father since we'll be at his house and asked if it was okay to give out his address and he approved it. I told him not to say anything: it's a secret.
After I finished reading it, I decided to use an idea D.J. gave me so Dawn won't know. I decided to go on the computer and email D.J.
Hi, D.J.
I love the idea you gave me. This is going to be so exciting. I'll also be looking forward to see you guys. We'll be staying with her father. You can meet us at his house. Let me know and I'll text you the address. Her father gave me permission to do that.
Mary Anne.
I typed in my email address. I'll wait to give them the address after I hear back from them.
