The defenders sanctum

After free korra's father and Elsa's sister and brother in law they all went back to the boiling isles including Elsa,they were working on a plan.but all the recent events left Emily with more questions than answers.Who were these homunculi, and why did they want me,you,uncle belos,eda,luz and the rest of the jinchuuriki alive? How high up did this all go in the republic?

she dragged herself out of bed and wandered into the living room where korra was sitting. "Hey korra, I've been thinking about it and I've got an idea on how to find a homunculus."Chris said

"What are you thinking, Brother?" Maria asked. She closed her book and looked up to pay attention.

"They need us alive, right? So, I doubt they'll sit back and let us die. We should let namagem find and attack us to draw them out.

"That sounds like a pretty big gamble to me. Have you forgotten that he literally tore us apart last time? If korra hadn't showed up, you wouldn't even be here!" "Even if it does work, how do you plan on catching one of them? They're super strong and pretty much can't die!"

"Can't die? Really?" Kakashi exclaimed, startling them both. They turned to find him,hunter and Kotoha as a boom tube opened"We'll help you catch one!"

"This is exactly what I've been searching for. This could be what saves my auntie yin Nan cause she's really ill. Besides, we have a better chance of succeeding.

Emily waved her hand, "Fine, fine, you're right. Let's come up with a plan, then."

"We should go get korra, she could help, too." Al suggested.

"I'll go knock on her door, see if they're up." Luz jumped up, left the room, and walked to the next door down. She knocked and it took a moment, but korra eventually opened the door, rubbing her eyes.

"Mmm? What's up, Emily?"

"We're discussing details on a plan to lure out the homunculi. You in?"

The sleepiness was replaced with excitement. She smiled and answered, "Definitely.

The next day at republic city

luz and Emily would go out in the city and draw attention to themselves, while hunter,Kotoha, and korra would follow from a distance. Hopefully namagem would be drawn to the cousins and attack them. If all went well, a homunculus would come out of hiding to make sure namagem didn't kill the noceda cousins, and the other three would capture it..

Everyone went their separate ways for the rest of the morning.

hunter took out fang and said Faang Teeth Out." As Fang goes into the Bracelet turning into Silver claw.

Later

After a lot of showboat alchemy, they watched luz and Emily talk to chief beyfong and Hawkeye, who were apparently drawn to all the attention the noceda's were making. Shortly after that, namagem appeared, and luz and Emily were currently battling him. Korra stood with hunter, and Kotoha on a nearby rooftop, watching for any signs of a homunculus. There were a few close calls with namagem nearly killing luz, and twice hunter had grabbed her to stop her from jumping down to help.

Kotoha looked over at her, examining her body. "Where's your weapon?" She and hunter were both equipped with a variety of things, including swords, kunai, blade fans, and various bombs and explosives. Korra had nothing.

She pointed to her muscles, laughing. "I've got these!" They didn't laugh at her joke, so she continued more seriously, "I'm best with hand-to-hand combat, I use my new glider staff as a weapon. And I've got a couple knives hidden on me."

That last part was a misleading statement, but not an outright lie, either. She didn't have physical knives, but she could make her fire ones easily. And using her collapsed glider was an option.

All three of them tensed as they sensed an odd feeling chi, one that was definitely not human or alien. They all looked at each other. "You feel it too, right?" Hunter asked them.

"Yes." Kotoha replied, and korra nodded.

"Let's go." Hunter ran and jumped to the next rooftop. She and Kotoha followed. They crossed a few more buildings before they sighted their target. They raced to intercept, and hunter jumped with his leg extended out in a kick that sent the homunculus sprawling on the roof.

The homunculus recovered and stood up. He looked between them all, confused. "Hello!" Hunter called cheerily. "That's one unusual body you got there!"

"Don't bother running, I can sense your presence and follow it." Kotoha added threateningly.

The homunculus smiled at her, which hunter thought was an odd reaction to being threatened. She was distracted by a familiar voice, sounding from the street below.

"You can sense Gluttony's presence? Well, how inconvenient."

They looked down to see president King Bradley approaching, brandishing a sword in each hand. They had barely registered his identity before he'd broken into a sprint, rushed up to the rooftop with incredible speed, and sliced at Kotoha.

"Kotoha!" Hunter shrieked as he jumped over to help her. He sliced Gluttony's approaching body in half as he went.

After attacking Kotoha, the president immediately went for hunter, who was slashing relentlessly as he tried valiantly to protect Kotoha's fallen body. Korra jumped and kicked fire at Bradley, knocking him sideways and away from hunter.

Bradley turned his attention to her but didn't lower his swords. "Well, now, this is a surprise. What is the Avatar doing with strangers like these?"

She didn't answer. Gluttony had finished regenerating by now. Bradley's single eye narrowed as he continued. "No matter. Your constant meddling is annoying, and I won't stand for it!" He charged her with his swords raised.

She immediately threw some fire at him, which he dodged easily, sidling sideways while continuing to charge. He was so fast. Quickly, she jumped out of the way as his swords swiped where she's just been standing. She landed to his right, and he didn't miss a beat as he turned and charged again. She brought earth to her aid, bending a chunk of the concrete roof up and holding it in front of her, blocking his quick slashes. The blades cracked the shield; it wouldn't last much longer, so she shattered it into a million small pieces, hitting him with the shrapnel.

He was caught off guard and raised a hand to protect his face, but not quick enough. The sharp rocks cut the band on his eyepatch, causing it to flutter uselessly to the ground. He didn't seem to care and continued his furious attacks. It was all she could do to hold him at bay; he wasn't allowing any time for her to try a counterattack.

Behind Bradley, she caught a glimpse of Gluttony approaching hunter, who held Kotoha over his shoulder. Blood was dripping from one of her arms. He had his sword extended out in a protective stance but was limited in his movements while holding his friend like that. She watched as Gluttony opened his jaws wide, tongue lolling out, drool dripping onto the ground…

Rage consumed her, and before she could even think about trying to stop it, she slipped into the Avatar State.

She felt the raw power course through her body, pulsing in her blood. Her eyesight clarity increased exponentially, the fatigue in her muscles disappeared, and her hearing sharpened. Bradley was apparently taken aback by this new development because his attacks paused as he looked on with wide eyes, and that's when she saw it. The eye that had previously been obscured by the eyepatch had an ouroboros tattoo instead of a pupil.

He was one of them. He was a homunculus. But why hadn't she sensed it?

She lashed out with the fury of all the Avatars. Her rage burned hot as she sent a bolt of lightning at Gluttony, knocking him away from hunter with such force that he landed on a rooftop three buildings way. The thunder echoed ominously.

With hunter and Kotoha out of danger, she focused on Bradley. She spun a torrent of air underneath herself to lift her body out of his reach. She rained fire on him, which he tried his best to avoid, dodging and weaving around the attacks. He closed the distance and jumped high with his swords raised for the plunge. Pushing hard, she sent a spear of air at him, which successfully threw him backwards and off the roof to a plaza below. She followed him, and airbent a massive concussive blast that sent all the citizens in the area a safe distance away.

Her sharpened ears picked up Bradley's voice shouting a command to Gluttony, telling him to go find and stop namagem. Bending the water from a fountain in the plaza, she sent a stream of it at Bradley and turned it to ice on impact. With his arm caught in the ice, she whipped him sideways into a street light, where he grunted in pain and fell to his knees briefly. He stood and raised his swords again but didn't get the chance to charge her as she bent the ground below him into a box, encasing him all the way up to his chin. The earth was tight enough that he couldn't move a muscle.

Well, they'd caught a homunculus, but they couldn't very well take the president of republic city himself as their captive. They'd have to go for Gluttony instead.

Lowering herself to the ground, she looked around the now deserted plaza in search of hunter. She found him standing on the rooftop looking down at her and Bradley, still holding Kotoha over his shoulder. She airbent up to them.

"We don't have time for that." She said sharply, and she watched him jump, startled, at the sound of her voice. She spoke with the voices of all the Avatars, so she knew it sounded weird and echoey. "Gluttony's gone after namagem and luz and Emily. We need to go capture him."

hunter nodded. "Let's take the sewers. It'll be more direct than the streets, and we can hide Kotoha down there."

She didn't reply as she jumped down to the alley below, which was out of view of the president. She opened a manhole and dropped inside, and hunter followed her quickly.

Once they were safely below the streets, hunter put Kotoha down on her feet and tied off her bleeding shoulder. The wound didn't look good; her arm swung limply at her side, and there was a lot of blood. He said to her, "Stay down here, okay? We'll come back for you. I promise." Then he turned to look at korra expectantly.

She held out her hand to him. "Hold on tight."

He didn't question her at all, he looked at her with absolute trust. He took her hand, which she grabbed and wrapped around her neck, and korra instinctively wrapped his other arm around her, too. With him hanging on, she jumped into the water and bent it under her feet in a massive wave, propelling them forward and towards Gluttony's chi.

Why hadn't hunter sent up the signal flare yet? He had seen him, Kotoha, and korra disappear from the roof shortly after namagem had attacked luz and Emily. So surely, they had sensed a homunculus. Were they having trouble capturing it? Or maybe it was a false alarm and they were still lurking nearby, waiting for one to show up? Had they all been killed? He shuddered at that last thought and pushed it from his mind.

They had ended up in a train yard, and namagem now stood ten feet away, panting to catch his breath. Luz and Emily stood waiting for him to make a move, and luz was also breathless. She wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up.

"metal man!" He heard someone scream. They were all surprised as a Gluttony jumped and landed in their midst. He immediately turned to attack namagem.

but namagem grabbed the homunculus' face and then aimed his blaster in an attempt to kill it with an electric blast. Then Gluttony spit up some blood but was otherwise unaffected by his attack.

luz clapped her hands and summoning deadly ice spike that impacted gluttony's fat gut. He stumbled backwards but regenerated himself from the bleeding wound. He turned to look at them and opened his mouth in a weird sort of hungry growl, which gave luz a good view of the tattoo on his tongue.

Suddenly At that time hunter jumped out of the sewers.

"It's silver claw!" Luz called out.

Hunter then landed on Gluttony and stuffed a grenade in his mouth. "Go! Move it!" He ordered as he got away from him. We all backed up as Gluttony swallowed the grenade and blew up. Luz looked at Gluttony in disgust.

"What the hell is that gonna do!? He's just gonna grow back!" Emily yelled.

They watched as Gluttony regenerated. "Get me some strong cable!" Hunter ordered.

"Right!" Luz answered as she turned a railing of train tracks into cable.

Hunter grabbed the cable and started to tie Gluttony up. "Your regenerating abilities are working against you! Your flesh won't stop expanding! That'll keep you tied up nice and tight!" Hunter yelled.

He took the cable and wrapped it around the homunculus' body as he continued to regenerate, causing him to end up in a tight, uncomfortable ball, trapped in bonds that were too tight.

It all happened so fast that luz just stood there frozen. He could see namagem hadn't moved either. And it wasn't over yet. A car, a convertible, came around the corner suddenly and skidded to a stop in front of them. The lone occupant shot several bullets at namagem and shouted, "Avatar! Here!" The driver looked suspiciously like Takehisa in disguise.

korra airbent the captured homunculus up and into the car, then propelled herself over and landed in the back seat. Her bent water splashed everywhere as she released control. Hunter jumped in after her, and the car promptly sped away.

luz and Kim stood there thunderstruck, and namagem was holding his damaged leg. Apparently one of the gunshots had connected.

Emily stepped forward with her bladed hand raised. Luz was about to follow suit but out of nowhere uzi (from murder drones) and Charlie (from hazbin hotel) flew at Emily and kicked him sideways, causing him to stumble into him. They fell over in a tangle but quickly scrambled back up to find the girl standing protectively in front of namagem.

What the hell? Since when does he have friends? He hadn't noticed until now, with all the chaos, but now Emily saw they were surrounded by MP's. They were all aiming their weapons at namagem. The Charlie used her powers to cover the area in a black cloud. By the time the dust settled, the two girls and namagem were gone.

"who was that?" Emily asked, bewildered.

"And how did they do it from that far away?" Luz asked in astonishment. As they stood stunned, the police were spreading out, trying to find where namagem had gone.

"Let's get out of here." Emily suggested, and luz nodded.

"Look what I found, Emily !" SHe held out a small goat in her hand.

"Al! We can't be adopting pets, you know that!"

"But I couldn't leave her behind in that mess back there! Look how sweet she is."

her cousin still didn't look happy, but chose not to say anything further. Instead, she crossed her arms in a huff. Luz put the goat in her bag. She seemed reluctant, but having nowhere else to go, she didn't protest staying with luz.

Together, they made it to the asami house,They hadn't seen or heard from hunter or korra. Al figured they'd come get them soon, or somehow relay the location they were holding the homunculus at.

Sure enough, on their way to asami house, ratchet drove up beside them. "Get in."

They got in and drove outside republic city.Eventually they pulled up to what looked to be an abandoned house in the middle of a clearing in the woods. Upon entering they found Takehisa,hunter,korra, and a very injured Kotoha. The captured homunculus was still wrapped in the cable, and he sat whimpering in an adjacent room. They called Camila also cat noir and she came by quickly she was told what happened and immediately set to work on Kotoha.

luz sat on the floor of the safehouse, leaning against the wall with Emily,korra, and hunter. Luz tried not to listen to Kotoha's screams of pain as Camila worked on her. The injury to her shoulder was bad enough that Camila told them she was being forced to amputate, and there was no morphine or anesthesia here. It was agonizing to sit there, listening, and not be able to help. Hunter hadn't said a word since the doctor had announced his prognosis; he sat as still as a statue, his eyes filled with pain and guilt.

"Are you out of your damn mind, avatar?" lin beifong stomped into the room, fury dripping from his voice. Korra winced as her the lin threw the newspaper into her lap. She lifted it up to read the headline, and luz looked over to see that it read "PRESIDENT BRADLEY ATTACKED, ASSAILANT STILL AT LARGE."

Her head dropped, and she hugged her knees to her chest. She apologized in a small voice, "I'm sorry. Things got a little out of hand. I tried to prevent any witnesses from seeing me, but…."

"Yeah well, you didn't succeed." Lin snarled. "Takehisa's informed me they have your description, and there's a warrant out for your arrest. The one good thing here is that they think you're just a rogue avatar. What were you thinking!?"

She surprised luz by admitting, "I wasn't. Gluttony was about to kill Kotoha and hunter, and I snapped. Besides, it was all I could do to keep Bradley at bay; he's a very skilled swordsman." Hunter looked up at the chief and met her gaze. "I really am sorry." Before beifong could respond, she turned her head to look at him and luz. "You should know. Bradley has an ouroboros tattoo. It's on his eye, under the patch. He's one of them."

A startled silence enveloped the room. Emily watched the anger melt from lin's face, replaced by a calculating look. "They've infiltrated all the way to the top. This will make it easier to remove him from the seat of power."

They heard whimpering coming through the open door to the adjacent room, and Emily looked over to watch Gluttony attempting to break free from the cables. But it was a futile effort.

"So that's Gluttony, huh?" Lin asked as she eyed the homunculus. "We need to interrogate him, then I'll take his stone. It may be useful for healing my mother when I find her."

hunter jumped up in anger. "Hold on! Kotoha lost her arm capturing that thing! He's our captive, so we'll be taking him back to Ta Lo!"

At that, luz also stood. "Wait, We need to interrogate him to find out what the shadow coven is doing!

Emily and korra still sat by the wall, not wanting to get involved in the disagreement. Everyone was yelling over one another, but at some point they stopped and turned to look in horror as Gluttony screeched loudly.

"luz! Luz noceda, you killed Lust!" With newfound strength, Gluttony struggled and broke through his bonds. Emily was shocked to see a lidless eye in a black void appear on Gluttony's giant stomach, complete with sharp teeth outlining the opening. It looked eerily similar to the eye Emily recalled seeing on the night she and luz had opened the portal of Truth.

Gluttony screamed in rage again, and in the blink of an eye, everything in front of him disappeared in a whirlwind. Literally everything vanished. The wall of the house, some trees outside, even one of the cars that had been parked there, all gone.

"I will swallow you, luz!" The homunculus threatened angrily.

Everyone ran outside of the now unstable house. Hunter supported Kotoha as they escaped, and everyone made it out safely. Gluttony attacked again, swallowing another section of the house. Emily found herself standing beside luz,korra,cat noir and lin, who shouted, "We have to bring him down!"lin said.

"But we worked so hard to catch him!" Luz protested.

"Survival is our top priority. Besides, he's seen our faces now. It would be foolish to allow him to leave here alive!" Korra said.luz put her hand on Korra shoulder giving her bending a boost then korra sent A wave of fire flew over to Gluttony, who screamed in pain. But that didn't last long, as he simply sucked the flames into his gut.

The five of them turned and ran toward the woods. "Well, that worked well!" Cat noir shouted sarcastically.

"Spread out! Maybe we can lose him!" Lin commanded, and they all split, running different directions into the trees.

cat noir ran alone for a short distance, then stopped to listen. He heard Gluttony crashing through the bushes, chasing after them. The sounds faded as the homunculus moved away from where he was standing. He made a sighing sound in relief. Moving carefully towards where he'd come, she met korra who suddenly burst out of the trees on his right.

"Hey! What do we do now?" She asked.

"We can't just kill him, it took so much to capture him! We have to try to restrain him again, but first, I think we need to get cat noir out of here. As long as she's around, Gluttony will continue to rampage."

"I agree." She froze, listening, then pointed off towards her right. "I can sense luz, she's over in that direction."

Together they made their way through the trees, trying to move as quietly as possible so as not to alert Gluttony to their location. Eventually they came across lin, who was keeled over in pain, clutching her injured side. Apparently, she wasn't as recovered from when the dark spirit attacked as she had previously let on.

korra knelt and moved lin's arm over her shoulder, pulled him to his feet, and began helping her walk back towards the destroyed safehouse. Emily, struck with an idea, bent down and transmuted the ground to create a kneeling human shape. Hopefully that might fool Gluttony and buy them time to get the chief of police out of here.

As she turned to follow korra, luz saw Ed approaching, who jogged over to join her. Passing the decoy, she shot her a thumbs up. "Nice idea, cousin."

As they exited the trees, they found the doctor waiting in the running car with Takehisa and Kotoha. Hunter was standing by the passenger door. Korra helped lin into the car, where she curled in on herself, obviously in extreme pain.

"Get in the car!" Camila demanded.

Emily shared a look with hunter,luz, and korra; they were all thinking the same thing.

"The car looks full. Go on ahead, we're going to get some information out of Gluttony." Luz said confidently as she cracked her knuckles.

There were lots of protests at that, but they dismissed them all and turned to go. Takehisa called back to Ed and insisted he take one of his guns. He hesitated at first, but she finally convinced him to take it, if only for self-protection. Luz sincerely hoped he wouldn't have to use it. Luz tucked it into her waistband and together, the four of them ran back towards the woods, and toward the sounds of a rampaging Gluttony.

He let hunter and korra take the lead, since they could take them directly to the homunculus. Sure enough, it didn't take long for them to find him as he stomped through the woods, still searching for luz. They stopped and watched him from a safe distance.

"How are we going to catch him?" He whispered. They must have been as clueless as he was because no one answered.

"Stop it, Gluttony!" a voice called behind him. He turned around to see a large black dog.

"A talking dog?" Korra said to herself, confused. Was that really where the voice came from? Before his eyes, the dog shapeshifted revealing it was envy.

"Long time no see, eh, pipsqueak?" The man teased Ed, who started yelling back immediately.

Gluttony approached envy and said. "Envy! Luz is here. She killed Lust! Must avenge Lust!"

"You don't get to eat luz, Gluttony! Or her cousin! Or the Avatar!" Envy scolded.

hunter stepped forward, addressing Envy. "I've sensed this multiplicity before. How many people are inside you, homunculus?"

Envy sneered. "I know you. You're the one who crossed swords with Wrath, aren't you? You can eat him, Gluttony." Gluttony cheered happily. Throwing his hands in the air in glee, he ran towards hunter, who promptly turned and fled.

luz looked up at Emily. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"

she nodded. "It looks like they really aren't allowed to hurt us."

luz smiled knowingly. Bending down to touch the ground, she transmuted a long wall between Gluttony and hunter, who must have circled back towards them shortly after fleeing.

"hunter, korra! You get that one!" Luz indicated Envy, then she herself ran on the opposite side of the wall towards Gluttony. Emily followed her and clapped her hands to transmute a giant hole underneath the homunculus.

"Nice one, Emily!"

They ran over to peer into the hole, but Gluttony was able to jump out unharmed. Luz closed in on him, throwing multiple punches and kicks, which the homunculus dodged clumsily.

"Get away! I can't eat you!" Gluttony pleaded. "Please let me take a bite of the other guy!"

While he was distracted trying to avoid luz's attacks, Emily ran up behind him and grabbed his arms under his shoulders to restrain him. But Gluttony was stronger than he looked, and he brought his hands up and locked them on Emily's arms. He heaved her up over him head and threw him through the transmuted wall. He heard hunter shout in surprise at his sudden entrance.

envy threw a punch at hunter which her blocked and burned envy's side with fire bending. "You fell for it!" Envy answered before turning his hand into a snake and wrapping it around hunter's arm to my neck. He gasped a the grip got tighter. "Good isn't it? You may not be humans anymore but you grimewalker body can't do anything like it!" The snake hissed making me whimper. "So what will it be? Strangled to death? Bitten to death?" He questioned as he turned his hand into a sickle. "Or cut up into little pieces?"

"None of the above!" Hunter growled as he kicked Envy and used the sickle Envy used to cut the snake off of me. Hunter then came up and slahed Envy's chest. When Envy was pushed back his foot was buried in the ground. Well, that's weird even for me. Hunter and korra stared at that in astonishment.

"That was a dirty trick." Envy snarled. "That's not playing fair!"

"People and kikimora have been trying to assassinate me since I was a kid. Under the circumstances, you can't blame a guy for learning how to fight dirty." Hunter explained walking to Envy with me. "So have you had enough yet? Are you going to come quietly with us? I just want is your stone Or shall we go again?"

Envy raised his head in anger. "You scum! A Mere grimewalker like you two can't condescend to me!" Envy growled as he then tried to attack hunter which made her quickly react and knock off his leg. Envy yelled in pain as he landed. Hunter then stood over him ready to strike. But before he could he turned into dani. Now that is dirty. hunter's eyes went wide as 'Dani's smirked. "Go for it Gluttony!" Envy now ordered.

he wheeled around just in time to see luz tackling hunter out the way,korra earthbending a wall between them and Gluttony, and Envy reaching out to stop luz.

Gluttony faced them and swallowed, and korra's wall did nothing to block him. They all disappeared in a strong gust of wind.

"No!" He cried in despair. His shock turned to anger, and he charged Gluttony. He tackled him to the ground. "Spit them out! Give them back!"

"I can't. I swallowed them father is gonna be so mad at me." Gluttony replied simply. The void in his stomach that housed the lidless eye closed, leaving no trace of its existence on his body.

Emily was devastated. They weren't dead, they couldn't be, no! She stumbled to her feet but immediately fell backwards to sit, stunned, on the forest floor. The small got came out from Luz's bag where she'd been hiding, cooing at her softly in concern.

They weren't dead. The couldn't believe that. She had to have faith, have hope, that they were alive. Where does everything he swallows go? It has to be some kind of trick.

Gluttony looked just as lost as Emily felt. Her paced around in front of her, making a pitiful whining sound. Emily wasn't sure how long she sat there in her misery. It was several hours, though, because she suddenly noticed that it wasn't night anymore. The sun had risen, and its cheery glow did nothing to soothe the despair his felt in his soul.

Finally, Gluttony asked in a scared voice, "What should I do? I don't want Father to be mad at me…."

Emily started. "You're Father? Does your father know what happens to people you swallow?"

Gluttony brightened. "I'm sure he does. Father knows everything!"

she felt a glimmer of hope. This was his only chance of finding out where they went, and maybe how to get them back.

"Gluttony, will you take me to see your father?"emily asked.

Gluttony thought about it for a minute. And said "I guess so. He'll be happy to see you, since you're a living sacrifice!" He turned and started walking away. He looked back curiously to see if Emily was following.

Emily stood, glancing at his shoulder to make sure the small panda hadn't fallen off at his sudden movement. Living sacrifice? Maybe I'll find out what that means, too.

Meanwhile with luz.

She awoke she was looking around there was nothing but black. She couldn't see much of anything. She sat up. And said "Where am I?" She asked herself self as I now noticed what she was standing in. It was like a sea of blood. "Blood?" I then stood up and looked around. She didn't see the forest we were in, or korra,hunter or Emily. "What is this place? Emily? Korra? Hunter? Hey! Is anyone there?" I called out while breathing heavy. "WHERE THE HELL AM I?!" She screamed.
