Chapter 14: The School Duel
Friday
Time 7:00
Another week had passed at Duel Academy, but today was a special day that someone was anxiously awaiting. Red Hat wich was expecting this day, no needed help waking up early this morning. As soon as he woke up he noticed that his PDA was ringing because he had received a message. The message was from Dr. Crowler explaining what would happen today.
"The duel between Duel Academy and North Academy will be today, for this reason today's lessons will end early. The duel will be at the Duel Arena, but before this all students will have to show up at the port after class to welcome the students of the North Academy. " With that, Crowler's message was finished.
"The day has finally come! I couldn't wait any longer for Jaden's duel against the North Academy rep." Red Hat muttered.
"And here I thought I would find you still sleeping now, this is unusual of you." Blair joked as she entered the room.
Red Hat ignored her joke. "Of course. How can you expect me to stay in bed with today's duel." He replied.
"Of course you get excited right away when it's a duel involving Jaden." Blair said. "Speaking of him, I heard he's already at the Duel Arena. How about we go to him? " Blair suggested.
"That's fine with me. Let's go." Red Hat replied, as he and Blair left their dorm.
As soon as they arrived they saw Jaden standing on the field with the duel disk active. Blair looks at Jaden with her cheeks which were a little red. Red Hat had noticed this, but decided to ignore it and focus on Jaden.
Jaden drew a card. "Come on out! Elemental HERO Avian!" The winged hero of the wind took flight. "And now, Burstinatrix!" The flame heroine turned around before landing next to the first hero. "And wile we're at it, Clayman and Sparkman, you guys come out too!" The elemental hero of earth and lightning take to the field together with their companions.
"Yeah..." Jaden smiled happily seeing his Elemental HERO near him. "I've got the sweetest monsters ever! With you guys by my side, we'll whoop who ever North Academy throws our way!"
"You're really pumped up for today's duel, Jaden." Red Hat said chuckling at his friend.
Jaden turned and saw that Red Hat and Blair were there, then smiled at them. "You bet. I can't wait for my opponent to arrive."
"You will have to wait for your duel Jaden. Remember, first they have lessons and then we have to go meet the North Academy at the docks." Syrus pointed out.
Hearing those words, Red Hat and Jaden's mood immediately dropped. Red Hat even though he had fewer lessons today he couldn't stand having to go to class, especially because they were Crowler's lessons. Jaden on the other hand because he isn't there made him wait any longer for his duel.
"Man, why does such a perfect day with a duel coming up have to be ruined by lessons." Jaden groaned.
"I agree with you, Jaden. I wouldn't want to go to class today either." Red Hat agreed with him.
"Don't complain, we have few lessons today anyway. So you won't have to wait long." Blair said.
"I guess we're right. Let's just hope it's not as boring as usual." Red Hat said as he left.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Blair shouted as she reached Red Hat. Jaden and Syrus went to class with them.
Time 11:00
After a short day of lessons, where the students breathed a sigh of relief, especially from Red Hat and Jaden, the entire Duel Academy had gone to the docks accompanied by Chancellor Sheppard and Crowler to meet the North Academy. When they arrived they saw that their submarine had arrived, with the deck lowered so people could get out. Meanwhile, Chancellor Sheppard approached to greet the Chancellor of North Academy. "Foster, it's been for too long. How've you been?" Sheppard asked holding out his hand.
"It's been well." Foster said accepting the handshake from Sheppard. "Ever since I got over the defeat you handed us in the last year's school duel."
"Oh, it was a close match."
"Not really." Foster said leaving Sheppard confused by his words. "But this year, I have a feeling i twill be."
"Yes, I'm sure i twill. To a spirited duel between our two schools."
"Yeah, yeah, spirited, but enough with all the how you doins, I wanna meet who I'm gonna be dueling." Jaden said as he approached the two Chancellors.
"Yes Jaden, we were getting to that." Sheppard said.
"Great. Then I'll just wait right here till we get there." Jaden replied eager to know his opponent.
"Jaden will never change. He only has duels on his mind." Syrus said watching the scene with a drop of sweat rolling down his head.
"You know Jaden will never change. But that's what makes him unique." Red Hat replied amused by his friend.
"Jaden, so you're Duel Academy's phenom." Chancellor Foster said turning to Jaden.
"Phenom? That's the coolest thing I've ever been called!" Jaden said excitedly. "What's it mean?" he asked. Foster fell to the floor in shock at that question.
"It's means be quiet!" Sheppard scolded.
"Come on, come on! When do I meet my opponent!"
"Right now...Slacker!"
Jaden heard a voice that seemed familiar to him and looked towards the North Academy submarine. "Who just said that?"
"It's me." The person who spoke was someone Jaden or the rest of Duel Academy hadn't expected to see.
"Whoa, hold on! Am I seeing things, or is that Chazz!"
"You got that right. And thats the Chazz for you!" Chazz said the last part angrily.
"Well, why are you here?" Jaden asked.
"For the duel." Chazz replied.
"I think it's sold out."
"I'm in it."
"Like as a ref?" Jaden asked.
"I'm dueling you!" Chazz replied angrily losing his temper with Jaden.
"You're North Academy's rep, Chazz?" Jaden asked.
"I said it's the Chazz!"
Before anything else was said, there was a loud noise coming from above and a strong gust of wind that forced everyone present to cover their heads.
"Oh great, now what?" Jaden asked.
Everyone looked up to see two helicopters above them. The door of one of the helicopters opened and revealed two men in suits. One had black hair with a goatee. The other had brown hair.
"Hi Chazz!"
"What's going on little brother? Mind if we drop in?"
"Slade? Jagger? Why are you here?" Chazz asked with a look of contempt.
"Why else? To celebrate your victory!" Slade shouted at Chazz.
"You are going to win... Right Chazz?" Jagger asked before continuing. "Don't let the Princeton name down. Because... The school duel's gonna be broadcast worldwide!" Jagger explained as some cameramen appeared to film them.
Jaden turned to the nearest camera with wide eyes. "No way! Me on TV? My face beemed across the world? In full color?"
"World domination is ours if we all do our part." Slade said to Chazz.
Time 12:00
After the surprise of the cameramen who had placed the cameras in the arena. Students from both academies stood in the stands to watch the duel. Chancellor Sheppard was sitting next to Foster. While Jaden and Chazz were standing in the arena.
"Same bet as usual, right Sheppard?" asked Foster. "Do you remember..."
"Absolutely. After all, old friend, it's what makes this all worth while." Sheppard said before they both laughed.
"Attention students." Sheppard spoke. "Welcome to the school duel!"
"And now…" Foster added.
"Let this year's competition... Finaly begin!" They both said at the same time.
"Dr. Crowler! Introduce the duelists!" Sheppard said.
"With pleasure, Chancellor Sheppard." Crowler said as he held a microphone in his hand. "After all, these are two duelists I know well!" He began before introducing the two duelists. "And personally, I just adore them! Yeah! Now first, from Duel Academy. Introducing Jaden Yucky! I mean, Jaden Yuki!"
"Go Jay! You can do it!" Syrus said cheering.
"Totally!" Chumley agreed.
"And his opponent…"
"Get off the stage!" Chazz interrupted abruptly. "I'll introduce myself, you scrub."
"I beg your pardon! What did you call me?" Crowler asked starting to get angry.
"I...said...scrub!" Chazz said again.
"Scrubs don't have PhDs in dueling! Got that?! I studied at-" Crowler continued to respond as he didn't notice that the microphone wire got tied to his legs and he ended up falling to the ground outside the arena.
"Whoa, maybe you ought cordless next time." Jaden commented as he approached where Crowler had fallen.
"Maybe you just ought to be quiet! It's Chazz Princeton's turn now! But then, I don't really need an introduction. After all, everybody here knows who I am. Or do you? See, the Chazz Princeton has changed! When I left here, I left my old self. You're looking at the new and improved Chazz! And I'm here to… Chazz it…up! Chazz it up! Chazz IT UP!" Chazz shouted loudly as he pumped his fist in the air.
"Yeah! Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz IT UP!" The students of North Academy shouted as they cheered.
"Wow. It's almost like they really...like Chazz." Syrus commented. "But Jaden! Don't worry! You beat Chazz before and you'll do it again!"
"...It might not be that easy." Jaden said sounding unconvinced.
"Huh? Why? And you were so fired up..." Syrus said confused by his friend's attitude.
"Jaden's scared?" Chumley said worriedly.
"I'm not scared at all. It's just...I gotta give it to Chazz. He took control of North Academy all by himself. And he's back to fight. That takes guts!" Jaden said no longer sounding worried but excited now.
"Chazz, you better win!" Slade said.
"Don't hurt the Princeton name!" Jagger added.
"Here I go, Jaden! I refuse to lose to a slacker!" Chazz said sounding angry.
"Bring it on, Chazz!" Jaden replied.
"let's see what you got, Jaden."
"With pleasure." Jaden said as he activated his duel disk.
"No, the pleasure's going to be all mine, because your going down." Chazz said as he activated his duel disk.

"Chazz it up! Take him down, Chazz!" The students of North Academy shouted.
"Ask and you shall receive." Chazz draws.
Hand 6
"For my first move, I'm gonna summon Masked Dragon in attack mode! (Atk: 1400 – Def: 1100) I end my turn." Chazz ends his turn.
Hand 5
"Alright, my turn. I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
"I summon Elemental HERO Sparkman in attack mode! (Atk: 1600 – Def: 1400) Sparkman attack that dragon with Static Shockwave!" The hero charged electricity into the palms of his hands and fired an electric shock, destroying Masked Dragon.
Chazz: 8000 – 7800 LP
"Awesome! Jaden's taking the lead!" Syrus cheered.
"Yes! Jaden gave him the first shot!" Blair said.
Red Hat, however, didn't rejoice like her friend. "It's to soon to say, Blair. Now that Masked Dragon has been destroyed, Chazz will be able to summon another dragon-type monster. I wonder what he'll summon now?"
Chazz smiled. "Actually, he took the bait. I activate Masked Dragon special ability! You see, when this card it sent to the graveyard due to a battle, I can summon a dragon-type monster with 1500 or fewer attack points from my deck. And I have just the one. Go ahead and see yourself. Come out Armed Dragon LV3! (Atk: 1200 – Def: 900)" At those words, a small dragon appeared on Chazz's side of the field. Most of the body was orange, except for half of the head, knuckles, wings and tail which were a dull brown.
"Um, another LV monster?" Syrus asked in shock.
"Yeah, and 3 is the lowest. If Chazz plays this right, that dragon will get a lot bigger." Alexis explained.
"Indeed. I just wonder where Chazz got such a powerful card." Bastion said.
"Does he has a LV monster too?" Blair said surprised. "It's like my Silent Swordsman and Silent Wizard."
"This isn't exactly right." Red Hat said, leaving Blair confused. "LV monsters have conditions that must be met in order for them to evolve into their strongest forms. For example, Silent Swordsman LV5 have to attack directly your opponents, if you want him to evolve into Silent Swordsman LV7. Another example is Silent Magician LV4, when five spell counter are placed on her, you can special summon Silent Magician LV8." He explained.
"I'm starting to understand a little. If you know so much about LV monsters how come you don't use them?" Blair asked.
"Because I can't worry about meeting conditions to summon stronger monsters. Because your opponent would use that moment to strike." Red Hat replied.
Sheppard gaped at the new dragon. "Why? Isn't that one of your school's top cards?" Sheppard asked, turning to Chancellor Foster. "Foster, you didn't..."
"I did what I had to do. I told you Sheppard, I want that prize and I'm going to get it." Foster replied with a proud smile.
Sheppard rose from his seat. "Oh yeah? Well, we see about that! Let's go, Jaden! Come on! Jaden it up! Jaden it up!" Sheppard shouted cheering for his student.
"Yeah... uh, sure." Jaden said as he watched Chancellor Sheppard cheer him on. "Anyway, sweet card, Chazz. I can't wait to see what that Armed Dragon card can do."
Chazz smiled. "Don't worry. You'll have a first row seat."
"In that case, I'll set a card facedown and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 4
"Great, now I can start to destroy you. I draw!" Chazz draws.
Hand 6
"Since it's my standby phase, Armed Dragon LV3 can use its effect. By sending Armed Dragon LV3 to the graveyard, I can special summon Armed Dragon LV5 from my hand or my deck. Armed Dragon LV5 rise! (Atk: 2400 – Def: 1700)" The little dragon was surrounded by a flash of light, and in its place was another dragon. It was the same as before, but this one was bigger, the parts that had previously been orange and brown had become red and black. He also had spikes on his knuckles, shoulders, knees and back. The students of North Academy cheered at the sight of Chazz's new dragon.
"Be careful, Jaden!" Bastion tried to warn him. "By leveling up, Armed Dragon's powers have substantially increased! And he was plenty powerful! before!"
"Aw, man." Syrus groaned.
Sheppard watched worriedly, while Foster laughed sinisterly.
"Wow, Chazz. I have to say, your monster is so sweet." Jaden said excitedly, which annoyed Chazz.
"Wait, the best is yet to come. I summon Lustre Dragon in attack mode! (Atk: 1900 – Def: 1600) I haven't forgotten your facedown card. So I activate Stamping Destruction! Since I control a dragon-type monster, I can destroy 1 spell or trap card on the field, and then inflict to you 500 points of damage." A huge dragon paw came out of the magic paper, stepping on Jaden's face-down card which was the Sakuretsu Armor, the card shattered, and the shards damaged Jaden.
Jaden: 8000 – 7500 LP
"You wanted to see what my dragon can do? I'll gladly settle you! Armed Dragon LV5 attacks Sparkman! Inferno Roar!" Armed Dragon let out a roar as blades of red energy shot out of his body and slammed into Sparkman, destroying him.
Jaden: 7500 – 6700 LP
"Now Luster Dragon attack you directly! Sapphire Flame!" The second dragon hit Jaden with a fireball that it launched from its mouth, knocking Jaden to the ground.
Jaden: 6700 – 4800 LP
"This is bad." Blair said worriedly.
"Don't lose your cool. Jaden can still do it. I know for sure." Red Hat reassured her.
"Come on! Get up, please! " Sheppard shouted.
"So that's Duel Academy's best, huh?" Chazz scoffed.
Blair started to get angry hearing his comment. "Hey, who does he think he is? I can say already I dislike this guy."
"We are two on this. But Chazz is even worse than that, believe me." Red Hat commented, also angry at Chazz's words.
In response to Chazz's words, Jaden got back to his feet. "Nice shot." He complimented as he rubbed his hand over his head. "Although, I've gotta say, I think for the next TV broadcast, I'd like to arrange to have a stuntman." Jaden joked.
"Whatever, I set a card facedown and end my turn. But before, I will take this duel to the next level, because Armed Dragon LV5 effect activate. During the end phase, if this card destroyed a monster by battle, I can send Armed Dragon LV5 to the graveyard, and special summon his next form. Now won't you join me Jaden? In welcoming the ultimate and the all powerfull Armed Dragon LV7! (Atk: 2700 – Def: 1000)" Chazz ended his turn. Armed Dragon was surrounded by a flash of red light and evolved again. This new form of Chazz's dragon was larger than his previous one, with the spikes on his body replaced by blades.

"So his monster to evolve into its next form must destroy monster in battle." Red Hat commented.
"I think Jaden is in a bad spot right now." Blair said scared at the sight of the new dragon.
The students at North Academy began cheering for Chazz again when they saw his new dragon. " Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz it up! "
Sheppard angrily stared at Foster who had a smug look on his face. The Chancellor of Duel Academy stood up. "Jaden, we're with you! Come on everybody! Jaden it up! Jaden it up!"
The only thing he gained was the North Academy students booing at him.
"Tell him how it really goes." Chazz said.
"Chazz it up! Show him no mercy!"
Chazz raised his fist in the air proudly.
"Never seen someone so full of himself, not even at Obelisk blue." Blair commented.
"I told you you had to see the worst of him again." Red Hat replied.
"Alright, my turn. I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 5
"I set a monster facedown. I set a card facedown and end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 3
"You're going down slacker. I draw!" Chazz draws.
Hand 4
"I summon Flying Kamakiri #1 in attack mode! (Atk: 1400 – Def: 900)"
"I was waiting for just that." Jaden interrupted. "I activate my trap card, Torrential Tribute! All the monsters on the field are destroyed." A large wave of water came out of the trap card, overwhelming all the monsters on the field and destroying them. "And there is more. My facedown monster was Dandylion and when it ends up in the graveyard I can special summon 2 Fluff tokens in defense position. (Atk: 0 – Def: 0)"
"No way! I can't be happened!" Chazz exclaimed.
"Oh yes instead, because your best monster is off the field, and now you are in big trouble." Jaden said.
"Wait to say it, slacker. I play this spell card. The Graveyard in the Fourth Dimension! This card let me take LV monsters in my graveyard and return in the deck and shuffle it." Armed Dragon LV3 and Armed Dragon LV7 came out of Chazz's graveyard slot, which Chazz put back into his deck and shuffled. "Next I activate Pot of Greed to draw 2 cards." When Chazz drew two cards he seemed to be annoyed by one of the card he had drawn. "What is this card doing in m deck?!"
At that moment, a small being with a yellow body with bulging eyes and wearing only red underwear appeared next to Chazz. It was the Duel Spirirt Ojama Yellow. "Come on boss, I can help you."
"Get lost little worm!" Chazz shouted angrily as he tried to crush it in his hands.
At the same time, another Duel Spirit had appeared. It was Winged Kuriboh, Jaden's Duel Spirit who had appeared next to him trying to tell him something. "What are you saying Kuriboh? Chazz got a Duel Spirit?" Jaden turned to Chazz, noticing the small yellow being. "Hey, I see him! So Chazz, who's your little friend?"
The question made Chazz nervous as he crushed the spirit in his hands. "It's nothing! Let's continue the duel."
"What he is doing?" Red Hat wondered as he noticed Chazz's strange behavior.
"Now I play Graceful Charity, to draw 3 cards, then I have to discard 2, at least this way i get rid of this card." Chazz said as he discarded two cards, one of which was Ojama Yellow. "I activate the spell card, Level Modulation. Now you can draw two cards and I can special summon Armed Dragon LV5 from my graveyard." Chazz's Armed Dragon had reappeared on the field, but seemed weakened. "The only problem with this card is that the monster I brought back can't attack or activate its effect this turn, but I won't have to worry about it, because he won't be here long. I play this card, Level-Up! I send Armed Dragon LV5 to the graveyard and special summon Armed Dragon LV7 from my deck!"
"Chazz made a grave mistake." Red Hat said annoyed.
"What do you mean?" Blair asked.
"Wait and you'll see." Red Hat replied leaving her confused.
"I activate a second Pot of Greed to draw 2 cards." Chazz smiled sinisterly as he took one of the card in his hand. "If you thought Armed Dragon LV7 was strong, wait to see this card. I tribute Armed Dragon LV7 to special summon it's final form! Armed Dragon LV10! (Atk: 3000 – Def: 2500)" The dragon was engulfed in red lightning, transforming into a larger form. The new dragon had a humanoid form, with black skin that was now an armor black and silver with even sharper spikes and blades.
"Oh man. That thing is gigantic!" Syrus said scared.
"It's not only big but it's even more dangerous now." Alexis said.
"Alexis is right. Until now, the more Armed Dragon evolved, the more dangerous it became. Now that he has reached his final form is become stronger than before." Bastion said.
"I'm afraid to look at what will happen now." Blair said worriedly. Red Hat, however, continued to watch the duel carefully.
"I'll activate Armed Dragon LV10 special effect! All I have to do is send one card to the graveyard, and all of your monsters are destroyed! Armed Dragon wipe out his monsters with Hyper Sonic Roar!" Armed Dragon LV10 let out a powerful roar creating a shockwave destroying Jaden's Fluff tokens. "Hang on, cuz I'm not finished with you yet. Armed Dragon attack him directly with Static Arm Thrust!" Armed Dragon created a sphere of electricity in his hand hitting Jaden.
Jaden: 4800 – 1800 LP
"I think this is enough for now. So I end my turn." Chazz ends his turn.
Hand 0
"That's no good. It's no good at all." Syrus pointed out.
"This is not licious." Chumley said.
"No kidding. If Jaden doesn't do something on his next turn, he could lose the duel." Alexis said.
"Jaden is not in a good place. Now he can't do anything." Blair said.
"I wouldn't be sure about this." Red Hat said.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, it's times like this that Jaden is at his best. Believe me, if I know Jaden, he will never give up until the last moment." Red Hat explained, with Blair appearing to regain some confidence with his words.
"It's my turn. I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
"Dang it! I have nothing now that can stand up Chazz's Armed Dragon I have to resist." Jaden thought. "I set a monster facedown. I end my turn." Jaden ends his turn.
Hand 5
"This is your big move? It won't take me long to erase the cards on your side of the field." Chazz teased. "I draw!" Chazz draws.
Hand 1
"Now Armed Dragon LV10 make Jaden's monster disappear!" The Armed Dragon destroyed Jaden's facedown monster that was Wildheart. "I set a card facedown and end my turn." Chazz ends his turn.
Hand 0
"Well then it's my turn. I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
Jaden saw that the card he drew and see his Winged Kuriboh. Then his Duel Spirit appeared next to him. "Hey, Winged Kuriboh. Did you come to give me a hand?" Jaden asked. The little spirit piped happily in response. "Good, because I'm going to need your help with Chazz then." Jaden said before turning to Chazz. "I set a monster facedown and end my turn. It's your move, Chazz." Jaden ends his turn.

"What? A bad hand? Don't worry, I'll put an end to your pains now." Chazz said smugly. "I draw!" Chazz draws.
Hand 1
"The duel is over for you, Jaden! I activate my facedown card. Raigeki Break! All I have to do is discard one card from my hand and I can destroy a card on the field. Like your facedown monster!" A bolt of lightning came out of Chazz's card and hit Jaden's monster, causing it to explode. " Hahaha! You are defenseless now, all I have to do is attack you directly with Armed Dragon and end this duel."
"Wait to tell. A duel is not over until the last card is played!" Jaden said.
"That's right, you've played your last card and now you have nothing left. You're about to be wiped out." Chazz taunted.
"In fact, I'm glad I played that card earlier." Jaden said leaving Chazz confused. "You see, the monster you destroyed was my Winged Kuriboh, and how will you know when this card on the field is destroyed and sent to the graveyard, I take no battle damage for the rest of this turn." Jaden explained.
Chazz began to get angry at his words. "You only gained one turn thanks to your furball. In the next turn, I'll destroy you. I end my turn." Chazz ends his turn.

"It's my turn. I draw!" Jaden draws.
Hand 6
"I play Pot of Greed that allow me to draw two cards. Now I play Graceful Charity, to draw three cards, then I have to discards two." Jaden draws three cards and then discards two. When he saw the cards in his hand he began to smile.
"What are you smiling about, slacker?" Chazz asked.
"You will find out very soon. From my hand I activate the effect of King of the Swamp! I can discard this card to the graveyard and add Polymerization from the deck to my hand." Jaden explained as he discarded the card into the graveyard slot as he took the spell card and then shuffle his deck.
"Keep looking all you want, slacker. There isn't a single card in your deck that can help you. Tell you what. If you surrender now I promise not to embaras you on global TV. Wait, I already did it!" Chazz teased before starting to laugh.
"Hey, it's not that funny." Syrus said.
"Jaden! Keep fighting, don't give up! " Sheppard shouted.
"Who's giving up?" Jaden asked with a smirk. "I mean, I'm having to much fun to give up. After all, that's what dueling's all about. Win or lose, cuz if you're having fun, you win every time."
"Gag me." Chazz scoffed.
"It's true. If I can have fun right now losing, shouldn't you able to winning? It's seriously not that hard. Despite what your brothers may want you to believe."
"What?! What do you know about my brothers?" Chazz snapped.
"Well, for starters Chazz, I know they're the ones you're dueling for. And the ones putting all this pressure on you too." Jaden explained as Chazz growled at him. "Oh come on, Chazz. Remember when you dueled for the excitement of it."
"I only duel to win." Chazz replied.
"Well, we'll see where that gets you!" Said Jaden took the next card to play from his hand. "And I'll prove it to you playing the card I drew earlier thanks to Level Modulation."
"No way!" Chazz snapped.
"Here's what I meant. Level Modulation is a terrible card to play. Chazz using it did nothing but give Jaden the chance to draw two more cards." Red Hat explained as Blair nodded understanding what he meant.
"I play Miracle Fusion! I banish Sparkman and King of the Swamp from my graveyard to fusion summon, Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman! (Atk: 2500 – Def: 2100) Now I activate Polymerization! I fuse Elemental HERO Avian and Burstinatrix to form Elemental HERO Flame Wingman! (Atk: 2100 – Def: 1200)" Flame Wingman appeared alongside his shining armor version.
"Hey, I was wondering earlier, but some of the cards Jaden just used, I've never seen him use. Where did he get them?" Syrus asked.
"I had noticed that too." Alexis agreed with him.
"Maybe Jaden modified the deck before the duel, but I wonder where he got those cards anyway." Bastion wondered.
Blair was as amazed as everyone else by this. "Where did Jaden get those cards?" After a few seconds he noticed something in those papers he had used. "Wait a second? But those cards were..." She thought, noticing that those cards looked familiar before turning to Red Hat. "You gave him that cards didn't you? Tell me the truth."
Red Hat smiled at that question before answering. "Well, I wanted to help Jaden, so I gave him some cards that I wanted to try with my Elemental HERO deck thinking they would also go well with his deck along with some cards that I usually use."
Blair sighed at his response, but was also a little amused by this. "I should have expected something like this from you." She said.
"So? They don't stand a chance against my mosnter. Afterl all, Armed Dragon LV10 has 3000 attack points. You're way outmached!" Chazz said.
"You're wrong, Chazz." Jaden said with a smile. "I attached the equip spell Megamorph to Shining Flare Wingman. While my life points are lower than yours, he got his attack points doubled. (Atk: 2500 – 5000 – Def: 2100) There's more. Shining Flare Wingman gains 300 attack points for every Elemental HERO in my graveyard. Right now there are five of them, so my monster gets 1500 extra attack points! (Atk: 5000 – 6500 – Def: 2100)" Chazz gasped at this.
"Shining Flare Wingman attack Armed Dragon LV10! Shining Emerald Orb!" Shining Flare Wingman created a giant sphere of green light in his hands which he launched at Armed Dragon causing it to explode.
Chazz: 7800 – 4300 LP
"Now Shining Flare Wingman second effect activates. You take a damage equal to the attack points of the destroyed monster." The hero stood in front of Chazz and began to glow brightly as Chazz took the damage.
Chazz: 4300 – 1300 LP
"Flame Wingman give the final blow! Inferno Rage!" Flame Wingman shot a jet of flame from his dragon-shaped right arm at Chazz.
"Ahh! Chazz is gonna lose! " The man with the megaphone exclaimed. "Cut the transmission! Cut it right now!"
"NOOOOO!" Chazz screamed as he was engulfed in flames and his life points dropped to zero.
Chazz: 1300 – 0 LP
The students of Duel Academy cheered wildly at Jaden's victory.
Red Hat and Blair were also cheering for their friend's victory just like Alexis, Syrus, Chumley and Bastion.
Meanwhile Chazz was on his knees with his hands on the ground staring at the floor, he saw two pairs of black shoes. He didn't have to look up to figure out who it was.
"Chazz, you loser! You dog! You've disgraced yourself!" Slade said angrily.
"You've disgraced the Princeton name!" Jagger added.
"Just give me another chance..." Chazz begged.
"Another chance?! Do yo know how much we spent?! " Slade shouted.
"You don't deserve to be at Princeton!" Jagger added.
"Hey! Leave him alone!" Jaden shouted at Chazz brothers. "Sure, Chazz lost. Because you jerks were breathin' down his neck!" Jaden told them as all his friends arrived as well.
"Jerks? Watch your words! We could have you crushed!" Slade replied angry at the insult.
"That's no way to treat family! We gave it our all in the duel! Both of us!" Jaden shouted angrily at both of them.
"I don't care how hard he tried! That's loser talk! All I care about is the result! " Jagger replied staring at the Slifer.
"True, the result is very important. But I don't like this attitude." Crowler who was at the foot of the arena murmured.
"Why defend Chazz anyway? He's a nobody now." Slade said.
"And worst of all, he got beat." Jagger added.
"Wrong... There's one fight he did win!" Jaden said as he trembled in anger at the two of them. "The fight... Against you two!"
"You're just saying that Jaden!" Chazz said without looking at Jaden.
"Chazz?" Jaden asked who was stunned.
"I mean, come on! No one believes that!"
"Chazz! " Slade called Chazz.
"You know what, after seeing this I kinda feel sorry for him." Blair said to Red Hat. But he didn't answer her. "Hey, you're listening. Huh..." Blair saw that Red Hat had a serious look on his face towards Princeton, something the entire group noticed.
Red Hat was reminded of everything Chazz had done since he'd met him. From the hateful attitude he had when he was in Obelisk blue, or when he threw Bastion's deck into the water. "If Chazz thinks this is enough to make me feel sorry for him, he's wrong." Red Hat said.
Alexis and Zane were disappointed in his attitude towards the situation. Syrus and Chumley on the other hand trembled in fear when they saw that he was angry. Bastion wondered how he could be like this in a situation like this. Jaden and Blair on the other hand seemed to be saddened by his words.
At that moment, Red Hat's memories of his mother abandoning him returned, but this time it was more intense than before and he ended up clenching his fist as hard as he could while clenching his teeth. "But seeing these two idiots treat their own brother like this, treat their own family like this is something that makes me even more angry!" Red Hat said, anger in every single word at Chazz's brothers. The entire group had heard what he had just said. Jaden and Blair seemed to be a little happy now, because in his own way it seemed like Red Hat didn't like the way Chazz was being treated either. The rest of the group, however, was a little surprised by his attitude. Syrus and Chumley seemed to have calmed down seeing that Red Hat agreed with Jaden. Zane gave a small smile, although he was as amazed as Alexis and Bastion, they thought Red Hat was finally changing. But the way he said it made it seem like his words were referring to something personal, this only increased the questions about him that wondered, what could have happened to him, but decided not to ask.
"We do, Chazz!" A student from North Academy shouted.
"Same here!" A Duel Academy student shouted.
"Yeah! Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz IT UP!"
All the students of both academies began to shout Chazz's chant, some with tears in their eyes.
Slade and Jagger looked around angrily.
"Jagger, Slade... Please leave." Chazz begged.
"I don't have time for your garbage, Chazz!" Jagger said angrily.
"Let's go Jagger!" Slade said as they both left.
Time 18:00
Everyone was at the port, with the North Academy students who had boarded their submarine to leave, only Chazz was missing, who remained in front of Jaden and the rest of the group.
"Well Chazz, I'll guess this is goodbye. Now don't forget to write." Jaden said.
"Jaden, I'm not going back." Chazz said surprising everyone. "I belong here. Duel Academy was always my home." Chazz added, leaving Jaden and his friends amazed, while the students of North Academy gasped at hearing these words. Chazz turned to his former Chancellor. "If Chancellor Sheppard would take me back."
"Well Chazz, you were one of the best students we had. How can I say no?" Sheppard said smiling warmly.
"Guess I'll be going." Foster said before being interrupted.
"May I have your attention, please?" Everyone turned to see Crowler on a stage speaking into a microphone. "And now, to present the prize in this year's match between North Academy and our esteemed university, I give you the most beatiful woman on the island, Miss Duel Academy!"
At these words, all the male students rushed towards the stage.
"Whoa! Sound hot!" Jaden said.
"Jaden, be my wingman." Syrus said next to him.
"I'm out of here." Red Hat said as he left the port.
"Aren't you curious to see who it is?" Blair asked as she followed Red Hat.
"I'm not at all curious about something like that." Red Hat replied.
"Here she is!" Crowler announced as the woman in question stood up on the stage. But to everyone's disappointment and horror, Miss Duel Academy was revealed to be Mrs. Doroty, wearing an orange dress with makeup.
"DOROTHY'S DUELING ACADEMY!" Jaden exclaimed.
Red Hat burst out laughing when he saw the scene. "I'm glad I didn't get into this. Sorry Jaden, but that's hilarious."
"You shouldn't laugh at others, at least don't do it with Jaden." Blair said, but seeing the faces everyone made she let out a few laughs too.
"Will the winning Chancellor, please approach the stage?" Sheppard came up next to Dorothy, and she kissed him on the cheek.
"Well, love really knows no age." Blair commented softly without being heard.
"A Kiss? That's the big prize you two were talking about?" Jaden asked in disbelief.
The sight of Sheppard receiving the kiss made Foster cry. "I can't bear to watch! Wait for me! I'll be back next year, my lady!" At that point, he ran towards the submarine, tears streaming down his face. With all the members of the North Academy having boarded, the submarine began to leave port.
"Don't worry Foster! " Sheppard shouted. "I'll take good care of her for you!" This made Foster cry even more.
"We'll miss you, Chazz!"
"Just one last cheer!"
"Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz it up!" The students of North Academy shouted even though they were far away.
At that moment Professor Banner approached Chazz. "There is one thing, Chazz. You dropped out of school. Therefore, technically, you're a new student." Banner said.
"What!" Chazz said, not liking what he was hearing.
Banner smiled. "So you must start from the bottom... at Slifer Red."
"Slifer?!" Chazz exclaimed.
"Chazz, we're dorm buddies!" Syrus said.
"I'm not your buddy!" Chazz replied annoyed.
"I hope you like rats! Our dorm's got tons of' em!" Jaden said eagerly.
"I changed my mind! I want to go back to North Academy!" Chazz shouted.
Laughing, Jaden turns to the others. "Guys! How bout we give him the Slifer cheer!"
Chazz looked at him with a very annoyed expression on his face. "I don't want it!"
"It's time to..." Jaden said as they all began.
"Chazz it up! Chazz it up! Chazz it up!" All the students of Duel Academy shouted Chazz's chant.
Chazz was annoyed by all of this as he sat down on the floor. "My new family is already dysfunctional!"
Meanwhile Red Hat was already on the way to the Slifer red dorm, followed by Blair. "Great. Now I'll have to put up with Chazz at Slifer red, my usual fortune." Red Hat said, not liking the idea that Chazz would be in the same dorm as him.
"Come on, maybe it won't be so bad... at least I hope." Blair said.
"You don't know him, Blair. Let me tell you what Chazz was like before he came back today." So Red Hat, told Blair what Chazz was like when he was in Obelisk blue and what he had done.
"WHAT?! He did all of this before?!" Blair was surprised by what she had just heard. "Okay, I take back the fact I felt sorry for him. I prefer to stay away from him."
"This would be a wise decision on your part." Red Hat said.
But hearing this reminded Blair of what Red Hat had said today after the duel, and it left her confused. "But if you can't stand Chazz, then why you seemed almost angry at how his brothers were treating him?" She asked him.
At that question, Red Hat froze, it was as if he were frozen. It's true that Chazz couldn't stand it, but he cursed the fact that he let himself be carried away by his memories. Blair stood there watching him before he answered her. "Don't get the wrong idea about this, Blair. It's not like Chazz is a friend now, I still hate him. It's just that I hate people who only think about themselves without thinking about the feelings of others in their family like it won't matter." Red Hat explained.
Blair stood there thinking about what he had said. "Maybe this is about his past". But she saw the look on Red Hat's face, and noticed that it was something he didn't like to talk about. "But he seems angry and sad just thinking about it, if so it's better not to ask questions. I don't want to make him uncomfortable." Blair thought.
"Let's go." Red Hat said as he started walking again followed by Blair.
Here is the new chapter. For this I used both part of the episode and part of Tag Force 1. In this chapter I used Chazz's deck in Tag Force, which was Resurrected Dragon and only included the Ojama Yellow card as far. As for the cards of Red Hat, that Jaden used, it was to show that since Jaden was his friend he would help him with his deck, giving him some of his cards that he had in his Elemental HERO deck that he made against Chazz. As for what Red Hat said to Chazz's brothers, it's not that the two of them are going to be friends now, I made them say those things because now they're starting to get curious about his past, and they're starting to wonder what have happened to him, how Blair asked herself at the end. The next chapter will be a little different because it will not be connected to an episode of the series.
